Sophia (49,201) by Mara from United States You wrote something in your post that really stuck out. I completely know what you mean about Mariah smiling and happy with a sense of pride. She was confident and it showed. You also said Vegas is for people who earned the right to be there. So true. She worked her a** off in this business for 25 years, and a catalog to back it up. She has two children under 4 and yeah she has nannies, but essentially is a single mother now. She is getting paid to stay in one place, come home to the same place each night to her kids, get paid a huge sum of money and keep her legacy going. How is that a loss? She is no wash up and people are in for a spectacular show and should be prepared for chills when they hear that voice live, and see her on stage. I don't care when people say Britney is the performer and some say M just sings. There are different levels of entertainment and there certainly is no shortage of choices if a "circus theme" is what they want. I don't mean that as an insult to Britney at all, just different. But Mariah doing the #1's as her headline sets her apart, even if a certain someone from the block heads to Vegas too. (Thursday 15 January 2015; 17:11)

I have a strong feeling this album will be a Sony release with "kind permission" of Universal to publish those three. But anyway, just my thoughts. Ellen (49,199) by Mara from United States Wow. She looks amazing. She is working hard and it is paying off. I knew this was where she was aiming with this residency. My post 49,004 I said she may set this around her number one songs and how this backs up her legacy and reminds them all what sets MC apart from those others. 2015 will be a great year for Mariah. I don't see Vegas hurting her at all, if anything I think it will remind people who she is. If her shows are anything close to her Beacon shows, people are in for a pleasant surprise. I would think she will have to rearrange the songs since this is a Mariah Carey catalog and singing these songs consecutively would be hard for anyone. But for a chance to hear her sing Someday, IDWC? I gotta figure out a way for a trip to Vegas. (Thursday 15 January 2015; 16:53)

Residency toughts (49,198) by QueenLambassador from Portugal I checked my phone this morning at 5 am and for some reason I couldn't sleep anymore (now I'm like a zombie). I'm happy with this move. Vegas isn't for losers, it's for the ones who earned the right to be there. The video from ellentube shows a very confident Mariah, with an actual smile and pride. I wish I could go the USA and support my girl but unfortunally I'll have to see the fanvideos and stuff. On a personal note, she could squeeze in Cry or Faded lol. Smart move (49,196) by Luis from Spain I liked how she looked on Ellen. The same smile she had during the TEOM era ten years ago. Do we know when the updated One's will be released? I think on May to coincide with her opening night. I was wondering, if she includes 18 singles in her CD, no new songs will be included, aren't they? They wouldn't fit. #1's (49,195) by NHYTG from nyc I like the idea of an updated version of #1's, the picture on Facebook gives me the idea this might happen, all 18 #1's with All I Want For Christmas Is You as a bonus track. No new tracks needed for now, just concentrate on this legacy. Time will come for new music once the Vegas concerts are over and credibility will be regained. As far as I know Mariah is without a record company now so she can go ahead with Sony for this project. For the Vegas concerts I hope she will blow everyone away, prove that her voice is far from gone, sounding as great as she looks now. And does she look good. (Thursday 15 January 2015; 14:38)

Question (49,194) by May from Denmark Could someone point the differences between her previous "The Pearl" Las Vegas and the now "Caesars Palace" Las Vegas residency? Mariah says "it's first time ever" and a whole "new thing", so I am somewhat clueless as to what it is going to differ from the last time she was in Las Vegas. I remember clips and such from her show in "The Pearl" and it looked well put together and the photos showing her costumes looked gorgeous and sweet. New era post-Nick (49,192) by Eternal from Italy The Mariah we saw on the Ellen show is finally the Mariah we've known forever - the witty and humble girl-next-door with the big voice. Applause for the sexy yet decent outfit that showed off her curves while maintaining her class, and her love for her lambs by giving away free tickets to the Vegas shows. What to say? Post-Nick, Mariah is so much better. I think all that drinking and blabbering of the past might have been due to her marriage troubles, but I'm glad she's moving on and trying to keep herself busy yet still taking time off for the kids. It would be great if she releases #1s 25 (to commemorate her 25th career anniversary), with all her 18 number ones, bonus re-sung acoustic versions or demos of some of them and a few new songs. If she keeps singing like she did during the Beacon shows and maintain her current image, 2015 would be Mariah's year again, part 3. Who's Nick Cannon again? (Thursday 15 January 2015; 14:21)

Also it is confirmed that she will be doing a residency based around her #1s which will be amazing and will appeal to a wider audience too. Well I for one can't wait for the dates to book my tickets and flights over from the UK and totally immerse myself in the Mariah shop too so a empty suitcase will be coming along. Lambily let's embrace this and support Mariah and no doubt some people will complain and hate on her decision but hey who cares? Mariah referencing (49,181) by Monark from Australia Come guys, lets be real. Does the fact that the target might not be explicit make it any less hurtful to the person it's directed towards? There are examples where it's been quite explicit: Obsessed, Side Effects, Did I Do That. Anybody who has followed her might assign those songs to different people, just as they might consider that certain songs on the MIAMTEC are about Nick. We'll never know, but chances are they do. I understand your point, that Nick very explicitly references Mariah, in a way that has been interpreted as a bit gross. But ultimately, if you throw shade, then it shouldn't be surprising that someone lobs a hand grenade back every now and then. I'm not making any judgment on Mariah and the music. I love it all, and as much as it's horrible sometimes to think she had to be in a particular headspace to enable her to create a song that touches me the way it does, and it's our instinct to go in to bat for her. Ultimately though, as Miguel reflected in an interview (and in song) at the time of the Beautiful, everything she does is considered and deliberate. (Thursday 15 January 2015; 7:08)

I hope it's news other than Vegas since Vegas is at the end of the year. I'm also hoping for a new Mariah look, perhaps something fresh and drastic lol. The picture is recent. I think it was from the AIWFCIY spectacular. It made me happy to see her (even if it's just a picture) on the show. (49,174) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End Can we talk about the fact that Mariah predicted the trajectory of her and Tommy's relationship with "Prisoner" almost word for word? Same goes for what happened with Nick: "Thanks 4 Nothing" comes to mind. Mariah's been known to say she hasn't ever really been in love. I don't really wanna believe her. Just going by the album (Butterfly) she wrote and produced during her romance with Derek one can tell she was a woman in deep love. The universe can't be that cruel to someone so obviously capable of deep emotions and lovable unto herself. It's time the real life male version of VOL, Dreamlover, Whenever You Call, came along and swept our girl off her feet. Well, out of all her significant others, Derek Jeter is still the only one unmarried and childless. Mariah must have felt some type of way about him for all those years for blatant references to still show up in her work as late as Memoirs. I wonder how she explained it to herself: creative expression? I know life isn't all about romantic entanglements but I really ship MC with DJ. Now more than ever.
