Hey Lambily. Here's a fun video that features Mariah's impersonator Jessica. And just want to say huge thanks to webmaster for the site, I've been visiting since I was a little boy.

A new boy toy would help Mariah's image? How? She's a grown woman who can do what she wants, but isn't it a little too soon for someone new. Ofourse Nick has moved on and already starting over with someone else. He's young and the wild type. (No boy toy for now.) But hey, if it'll make her happy. I think Mariah is the type that wants to be loved by someone. A lot of people feel that way. Take for instance Marilyn Monroe. Mariah doesn't like being alone. I'm sure whenever she's ready for a new start, there will plenty of men who would love to date her. Hopefully for all the right reasons. To Dan, I agree. I think Alicia Keys would be the perfect female artist for a collaboration. I think their voices would work and sound good together. Maybe on a ballad. I think other fans should post who they want Mariah to collaborate with. Mine are Pharell, Jay Z, R. Kelly, Robin Thicke or JT for the men. And Alicia Keys for the female.

Back up singers (46,736)
by Lara from Middle East
| |
|
|
I accidently just heard Babyface "Only when I close my eyes" with Mariah vocal's on the background. I wonder is there any other artist that has a special relation with his backup singer like Mariah has? If i'm not mistaken, they've been singing with her for 20 years, if not more (at least for Trey). She had a duet with Trey (twice) and one of his girls wrote Thirsty with her. I think Mariah really appreciate her backup singers because she once was just like them.

"She thinks that acting like a cougar is bound to fix her public image." Really? How exactly? She's a mother of 2, how will "acting like a cougar" exactly help her? JLo and Madonna's "cougar-ness" didn't do anything to help them. What a silly idea.

Old 2014 interviews (46,733)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
After everything that has transpired, has anyone gone back and watched old interviews of Mariah from this year? They are very telling. I watched Mariah's the Only interview and for the first time I understood what she was talking about. A lot of people were saying that she was just babbling but really, she was dropping hints as to what was going on in the background. In this clip, she talks about what I think is what Meteorite is about. Immensense instant fame, that completely disappears a few days later.

Subtle Invitation / big band Mariah (46,732)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

|
There's just something so sexy about Mariah playing it coy. She really does her best to just make her intentions to sound casual when deep inside she's really on the verge of begging for her ex to come back. I also love how she mentions the titles of some of her past songs towards the end. The whole thing is just so affecting; she makes the idea of getting back together very, very enticing. Whoever inspired this is probably dead inside for not getting the message and acting on it. Haha. The jazzy-lounge production probably inspired her to explore it more in TEOM (Mine Again, Stay The Night, Circles, I Wish You Knew, Fly Like A Bird). I love this side of her. Its organic feel doesn't mask the flaws in her performances too much, which gives them a rawer, more earnest feel. There are 3 versions of Mariah I love the most: sample-nailing Mariah, the Mariah choir (multiple vocal layering and adlibs), and stripped-down Mariah. She doesn't do the third one as much as the first two, but when she does, she's untouchable. She should do more of it, especially if she's backed up by a big jazz band. Perfect combination.

Petals live (46,730)
by B from USA
| |
|
|
I just watched the video posted below of Mariah preforming Petals during the Rainbow era and it made me cry when the tears begin running do Mariah's face. She's the greatest. The lyrics to that song are some of her most personal. I think the boy and girl that became like a brother and sister to her were Tommy's children. The patriarch she sings about is Tommy obviously and the flower that taught her to pray was Alison.

May / song speculations (46,729)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
I agree May. I enjoy reading everybody's thoughts about the song meanings. My favourite posts are when people bring their theories around tracks, new and old alike, and also when people share why a song is special to them and what it means to them and how we interpret them. I always go and listen to that song after having read their post and often I experience it in another way. An old friend of mine thought that Vanishing was about her dad and how she couldn't remember him after being absent from her life for so long. He also thought Love Takes Time was about her relationship with Alison which for me added a whole new spin on both records.

Mariah back on the charts (46,727)
by Abraham from USA
| |
|
|
I myself want her to be back on the charts and to the top. I honestly think that there are people who don't want Mariah to get her next number one. Especially radio, they don't want her to surpass The Beatles record. But that's too bad, because if Mariah delivers another album like "MIAM" it will happen. She must have something planned for next year. It just takes one good album to change everything. Good singles, videos and promotion. I also miss seeing her at events, awards and tv talk shows. It's like she's retired. Right now it's all about Beyonce and Ariana (for now) but hopefully Mariah makes a great comeback and makes it about her. Also, in my post about Ariana I thought I had erased the word "she's" after favorite. Same with the icon. That was unnecessary. But everything else I meant. Ariana is beautiful and talented. But to me, you can't compare her to Mariah.

The Elusive Chanteuse Show (46,725)
by KeShawn Taylor from United States
| |
|
|
Hey everybody. I know there has been a lot going on and everyone is still anticipating news on the tour (hopefully coming to the US), the divorce (rumors or facts), and the possibility of new music (after abandonment of promotion). I know I recently posted a dream setlist that was rather extensive of what I'd like to see Mariah do at this show. However, I decided to think a little out of the box and came up with what I thought would be a good idea of something that she's never done before. Do a complete show of mashups, putting new songs together with old songs and performing them live at the show. Some of the older hits would of course not be touched, like Hero and We Belong Together, but others would be used to allow those songs to see the light of day and also receive new day recognition with her new work. Feedback please. Setlist: Act One: Background Singers 1) Medley: Touch My Body, Obsessed, Heartbreaker, Fantasy, It's Like That 2) Underneath the Stars Snippet Act Two: For the Nostalgia 3) Loverboy/Dreamlover 4) Always Be My Baby/My All (Stay Awhile) 5) Make It Happen/Vision of Love 5) Hero 6) We Belong Together Act Three: A Broken Home 7) Vanishing/Cry. 8) You're Mine (Eternal)/Stay The Night 9) Faded/Side Effects 10) You Don't Know What to Do/Long Ago 11) Thirsty/Up Out My Face/Shake It Off 12) Music Box/Supernatural Act Four: Make it Look Good 13) Make It Look Good/Subtle Invitation 14) Meteorite/Fly Away (Butterfly Reprise) 15) Money/I Know What You Want 16) The Roof/Dedicated 17) Camouflage/Petals 18) The Art of Letting Go/I Don't Wanna Cry 19) One More Try/I Still Believe/Against All Odds Encore: 20) Heavenly/My Saving Grace/Fly Like a Bird 21) Sent From Up Above/#Beautiful

Ariana Grande (46,720)
by Abraham from USA
| |
|
|
I'm with the rest of you. I just don't see it, nor feel it. Ariana just doesn't do it for me. And I don't see the comparisons. It's so obvious her team is trying to make her as the new Mariah. But it's no use. Like someone posted, there will never be another MC, ever. Mariah's voice at her prime is unmatched, as with her song writing. Ariana needs a whole team to help her write one verse for a song. No other new female singer will ever top a song like "VOL". Ariana is such a copy cat. Her image, clothing/attire, singing technique, attempting the whistle register, laughing in the end of songs. And she's my favorite, having black and white album covers. She's even taken pics like Mariah posed exactly the same way. I'm tired of her. I've heard that ever since she heard what Mariah said about her in "TBC" interview. She now hates Mariah. I think Ariana being cool with Katy Perry is the reason with Katy dissed Mariah. Those two can have several seats. It doesn't matter how much older or old Mariah gets, no one will top her in voice, talent and music.

Thanks for fixing some of my grammatical mistakes haha, my English is in reality Funglish, promise to proofread the next time, there are moments when I just can't do it. But when I mentioned in my previous post the word - Anaconda -, I wasn't trying to say a bad word, I wanted to mention a current song that is just simply too awful, as an example of what is now at days in the mainstream radio. Thanks, ta ta (exclamations).

May / Ariana (46,718)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I completely agree that the whole comparison came as a publicity ploy by her team and for sure it backfired somewhat. I did notice in the second album she tried songs very different from Mariah's (as opposed to the first album where she tried everything Mariah). The songs I heard didn't even feature the whistle note that she has been trying to sell (I didn't listen to all the songs). But my main point is that the media always comes up with Mariah comparisons just based on a person being able to hit a high note. They forget that Mariah wouldn't be the superstar she is today if she didn't have creative input in her career. She writes songs that touches people and to top it off she sings in a voice that mesmerizes people and these are some of the reasons she got so successful. MC isn't all about yelling at the top of her lungs putting a random whistle note just for the sake of it in a song (Ariana does that a lot, she screeches away and will insert a random whistle). Her arrangements are flawless. I heard that Ariana now specifically mentions that the media can't ask her about MC. Her albums do sell because she is "in" right now so it surprises me how she didn't manage to snag a #1 single yet. Nowadays it seems like even I can get a #1 single if I come up with song but back it up with a publicity stunt (and I will admit I am a horrible singer). Don't get me wrong I don't hate Ariana, she just tries to hard. There is nothing effortless about her.

MIAMTEC (46,713)
by B from USA

I really hope Mariah tours the US. I've been a fan since 1995 and have never seen her live. MIAMTEC is a musical masterpiece. It's confessional and cathartic. In my opinion it's her best album since 2005 and it deserves some recognition. Maybe 2015 will see Mariah's return to the top of the charts.

About Ariana (46,712)
by May from Denmark
| |
|
|
I agree with you Mimi L. but I also think that the whole comparison with MC (that mostly came from her management as a publicity stunt obviously) kinda backfired because now she has a harder time to be herself and find herself, everywhere you go that is about Ariana there is "Mariah talk". Her new album did it to the top of the charts but in a way I think it's mostly because her fan pool base currently being very fresh and from just having released her first one not that long ago but also cause she is "in", she is popular right now. While I would take her over Katty Perry singing any day, I'm not impress with her music. this_is_qhm reflected on her last album really nicely in detail and I've read from a lot of people that have said that her late music is very boring. While the album shoot to the top, the popular talk is that it's not a great album. In my opinion the problem is the current state of the next mainstream artists, what's out now at days.

Yes they are theories (46,711)
by May from Denmark
| |
|
|
About Thirsty, ofcourse they are all theories, ideas, assumptions, guesses. Bill and I think that's also the fun in talking about it because a box of alternative possibilities are open. So it's no controversy. Mimi L. I actually never thought the song was a dissing type of song, I felt that the song was more about a "call for attention". It's definitely not a song like Obsessed, which is a clear diss through and through - "I'm a press conference, you are a conversation" haha, to me the lyrics and overall that part of the song were genius, the way she came up with all those comparisons is super mad fun. I know not many people like Obsessed, but I really like the song, it is clever and it ventured Mariah into some new sounds. And to be honest, someone said what if the kids grow up and Mariah has to explain a song about Nick, I would say Nick has much more explaining to do about his interviews with Howard Stern lol but I bet he will say "I just had to answer, they asked me." No, but in all seriousness, to me the song lyrics sound like a call, an important envelope with red letters. Nick never praised the song btw, he heard the beats pre-release and said the beats sounded amazing, then he mentioned in Twitter to people listen to the song released of Thirsty because it was cool and people tweeted him back that it was about him and he stopped posting anything regarding Mariah's album and his Instagram went down. That's why my theories.

Songs about people (46,710)
by Luis from Spain
| |
|
|
I have read lots of messages explaining the meaning behind some songs. I think songs are like books (I am an author myself): they are inspired by people but don't talk about them in a direct way. It's impossible to be realistic when writing a song. In fact, we know that she had been working on this album for long. I think the real breakup album will arrive next.

The next Mariah (46,709)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Ariana taking Mariah's place, that part cracks me up big time. No one can be the next Mariah until they can sing like Mariah, no one can be the next Mariah until they can write songs like Mariah (even after 25 years) no one can be the next Mariah until they can produce songs like Mariah and no one can be the next Mariah until they are as effortlessly elegant and fabulous like Mariah. Summing it up, there will probably never be another Mariah Carey. People may surpass her record (because nowadays people can get #1s with gimmicks), people can get more famous than her, but nobody can come close to the "artist" that is Mariah Carey. She isn't just a singer. She is one of the best singers (even with her current imperfections), she is an outstanding song writer (who has the capability to write songs that sounds fresh and current every time without selling out to the current trend), and special shout out to her lyrics. Mariah is not just about singing high and hitting the whistle note here and there, she is a legend who has stood the test of time. Plus Ariana needs to really work on her enunciation, I can hardly understand what she sings most of the time because she is just yelling away at me. And no her age is no excuse, Mariah was singing flawlessly at that age, so if one wants to be the next Mariah, they should try to be everything Mariah Carey stands for. I still don't see four #1s from Ariana's debut album like Mariah had.

Thirsty theories / post shout outs / Bliss remix (46,707)
by 123 from USA

Wow I didn’t know my post would cause so many reactions but it's awesome to read different people's well thought out opinions. Shout out to Mimi L, Bill from the UK, Stacey, and Kyle for the really thought out points they made. Darryle from Japan, it is funny that you mention Bliss because right before I read your post I found, in my opinion, a great remix of Bliss and I wonder if anyone has ever heard it. To me, it’s the version that MC would have recorded at the time if she took a more contemporary R&B direction. Take a listen and let me know what you think. Mariah Carey -Bliss (Snakehips Mix).

Thirsty (46,706)
by Lara from Middle East

Mariah may be targeting more than a person, that way it won't fireback at her just like it did when she targeted Eminem (being elusive no?). I think Nicky Minaj may be one the suspects (changing names/best thing to her) for Thirsty, and even Meteorite.

Nick / Thirsty (46,705)
by Mara from United States
| |
|
|
Not to jump on the bandwagon of the Thirsty meaning, but I have to say from first listen Nick. Let's face it, Mariah was married and married women have many ups and downs with their spouse. She probably had many instances where she was very pissed at Nick throughout her marriage. What do you do when you are Mariah Carey? You write some damn good songs. This song was freshly written. Forget those other people that's names came up. It's about her husband. His working and always jetting off on her and the twins probably made her and still makes her feel pretty bitter at times. Look at the line, "you used to be mister all about we, now you're just thirsty for celebrity" all about we, meaning her and the kids perhaps? Then the boss and "G" reference. I recall a few times Nick compared his different outfits to "all gangster". Then the Tom Fords. As far as her kids not finding out their mom has a song about their Dad, well Mariah never has to "kiss and tell". She can always just take the secret with her. Music has always been MC's outlet and she said herself this album was what she has gone through the last 4 years, so.

Comeback (46,704)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
2015 is almost here, and as we all know 5 is Mariah's lucky number so I see this as her comeback year. I'm so ready for her to make a comeback. In my opinion she never left but that's besides the point. I need her to comeback and show all the people saying she's over or that Ariana's replacing her, they are wrong. I'm through not seeing her at award shows. Mariah's had a career spanning almost 25 years and I still get the feeling she's an underdog in the industry. It seems as though with everything she does she has to work 10 times harder than everyone else to prove herself. 2015 will be the year people will finally be able to grasp the enormous talent that is Mariah Carey. No longer will she be shut out by the Grammys or told she's past her prime. 2015 is the year of Mariah.
