MIAMTEC Grammy chances (46,607) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines Well with now being September which usually marks the deadline for consideration of potential Grammy entries, I'm thinking of which albums could be up for nominations. Since October last year, some of what I could consider in the running are Beyoncé, Sam Smith's, and Mariah's latest, and maybe if they put a bit more emphasis on commercial success (hello 2010, 2012 Grammys), then Katy's and probably the Frozen soundtrack would be on the list. On a very slim chance, maybe Miley's and GaGa's releases would too. The only drawback is that MIAMTEC wasn't even a decent seller, and even made headlines because of that. It's a shame because when I first heard E=MC2 or MOAIA, I knew they wouldn't stand a chance to be nominated, let alone win Album of the Year. But with MIAMTEC, I felt it was just as strong, maybe even stronger, than her past nominated albums and as well as her unjustly overlooked Butterfly. I just hope Mariah manages to pull a Sara Bareilles and makes the cut straight outta left field, like The Blessed Unrest did earlier this year. I know the Grammys has gotten a lot of wins wrong through the years and has lost credibility because of it, but the fact is, when they get it right, they really nail it. Plus, the public interest a nomination revives is quite significant and I'm game for any chance to bump MIAMTEC up the charts. It deserves to win, or at least be nominated. Moreso, it deserves to be heard by more people. (Thursday 4 September 2014; 4:50)

Shake It Off (46,606) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines I know I've once said that we shouldn't sweat comparisons but can we just focus on this one solely for its ridiculousness: Taylor vs. Mariah? Really? And it's not even the songwriting part, which would have been a slightly more valid face-off. I mean why even pit 2 songs against each other if their only similarities are their titles and overall sentiment? Other than those 2, they have nothing else in common - different genres, different narratives, different singing styles, different levels of maturity, different chart peaks - the songs are practically worlds apart. Though Tay's is actually better than the average pop song, it's mostly a teen-oriented ditty, while Mariah's is a grown-up, smart, sassy kiss-off to a cheating lover that would've reached #1 hadn't it been blocked by We Belong Together. When I first read dem comparisons and saw dem polls online, I shook my head, and was like, "Wow, they're really that hard-pressed for 'material', huh?" Don't get me wrong, I'm no stranger to the Internet and I know the media has always been relentless, but now they're just willing to jump on every insignificant thing regardless of sense or significance just to have something to publish. "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" (46,605) by Reuben Walton from United States I was thinking the other day while improvising singing and driving listening to this that it would work really well if she covered it. Something in the same stylistic vein of "The First Noel / Born Is the King (Interlude)", there are lots of moments I was hearing musically in it that reminded me of TFN/BITK, opportunities for her to do her thing melodically with that same palpable tenderness. Maybe in a few years or something when it has been a while since she's done anything big for Christmas. I feel like since MCIIY was released, every December has had her really visible. JayCarey, this_is_qhm (46,604) by Edward from USA JayCarey, you have a great voice. At the beginning I thought it was Mariah singing (please take it as a huge compliment). You should do more, so we could be entertained until Mariah goes on tour. this_is_qhm, not, it isn't just you. Even though Ariana have gotten a few hits, and Iggy's "Fancy" set a record for the track by a female rapper that has spent the longest time at No. 1, other than Pharrell's "Happy" and Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" plus his entire album, 2014 has been such a bleak year for good music. Mariah's "MIAMTEC" was critically acclaimed and it could sit up there with Sam Smith's album "In The Lonely Hour", but sadly it never took up. I hope for a better 2015. I did like Ariana Grande's "Yours Truly", it was more cohesive and it followed a concept, but this new one is just all over the place. While I was happy with 2013 because there were many great singles and albums, this year has been a let down. Most singers are concerned with releasing 3 something minutes forgettable singles, instead of quality music, and it is so sad. Katy Perry may have thrown shades at Mariah, but she's so forgettable like the rest. Her five years of fame are about to be over. I can't wait for Mariah to have a huge come back, so she could tell Katy Perry: Dahling, mess with the best, die like the rest. (Thursday 4 September 2014; 1:39)

I fully devastated about the divorce, by the time the news came to surface, I was constantly watching Love Story's video, the Disney Land wedding anniversary, 20/20 interview in 2011, and I was literally crying. I thought there will be no divorce between the two since I found out that their love was too strong especially I was convinced by the fact that how spiritual Mariah is, but, I can't blame none of them. I hope for the best and I hope Mariah will continue to make great music lyrically. She deserves more than today's "meteorites". Have a great life, Lambily. (Thursday 4 September 2014; 1:39)

Mariah wants/Mariah needs... Jermash (46,598) by Jay from USA I totally believe Jermaine when he says he stepped down, the whole thing actually smells like it was a plan put in place until the separation of her marriage and the separation of the labels. Here we have Mariah teasing us with the album that keeps getting delayed and You're Mine (Eternal) is released and people are bashing her and/or Jermaine because of its lack of promotion and then the album push back again and in the end, we have a great album that she recorded more songs for and added remixes of old songs and an album cover with old pictures or photoshopped pictures (Thirsty and WDKWTD) and the news of the labels breaking apart and the news that she has a new manager and the news of her and Nick separating. The new songs/old remixes make sense now (even though just about everyone had a negative opinion about it). The new manager just happens to be someone associated with the old structure at the label. Perhaps Jermaine was just there as a "manager" until everything fell into place. We know Mariah may be hard to work with because she no longer wants to be told what to do career wise, who can blame her, and Jermaine has said that he's tried to direct her in a different direction (ballads) and all she wanted to do was hip hop inspired tunes. She needs someone that can guide her without her feeling that she is being molded into something she doesn't want to be. (Wednesday 3 September 2014; 23:56)

this_is_qhm (46,595) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter If Mariah releases another album this year, I think I will die (ok, faint?) out of happiness. She has been in the studio. Good Lord what wouldn't I do to have some inside scoop on what MC's been working on. Content wise, Mariah has never (and I want to say "never" in all capital letters but webmaster won't allow it) disappointed us. So I can't wait for new songs. However there is a great chance she won't release anything at all this year, maybe a single at most to kick off the next era. Because I keep thinking she has something big planned for her 25th year. The abstract "Vision of love" vs the more materialistic "Touch my body"? Ironically the former, although almost 20 years older, is way much mature than the latter. 2014 (46,593) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines Is it just me or has 2014 generally been pretty boring entertainment-wise? I mean of course we lambs have MIAMTEC as a highlight, but other than that, have there been music or even movie releases that really stood out, like even in the worst way? And since Mimi's latest bombed commercially, it doesn't feel like it's made much of a splash other than critically. I don't know, I just feel like this year has been quite slow and uneventful, which is quite scary, as we're fast approaching the final quarter. I don't wanna equate spectacle with interest, but I guess last year has just been so filled with tons of (mostly cheap) bombastic moments and stunts (thanks to Miley, Katy, GaGa, Beyoncé, Robin, Pharell), and strong singles (P.nk, Bruno, Daft Punk) that make 2014 seem comparatively tame. The significantly slower album and single sales prove it, too. So far, the only other album release I can think of that can make waves later this year is Taylor's upcoming LP. But how awesome would it be if Mariah just snuck up on us and released a whole new body of work by the end of the year? I mean sure, the media would be all over her for pulling a Beyoncé, but I don't really care, I'll always be greedy for new Mimi material. Haha. (Wednesday 3 September 2014; 16:39)

Ugh, the media is just preposterous. But, I think we can tell there is absolutely no truth to that article because it states that Mariah is moving out. Um. Jermaine (46,589) by Abraham from USA I don't buy for a fact that Jermaine decided to leave Mariah as her manager. Or if he did, Mariah more and likely showed signs she wasn't happy. He got the hint and stepped down. I don't blame her. I love Jermaine, but he isn't manager material. His talent is in just making good music. They both did a good job with "MIAM". And I love Jermaine's statement of him saying that he wants to make hit records with Mariah. That I believe. I'm counting on Mariah's new manager to step up and do what should have been done all along. Mariah belongs back on top. Not someone like Beyonce. I don't know what people see or hear in that lady. Music is simply gone now and days. But thankfully there is an artist like MC who brought it back with "Beautiful" and the rest of her album. I'm so glad that her and Jermaine are cool. Jermain's interview (46,588) by Edward from USA I believe JD's statement 100%. He was in a situation where he was powerless, yet people started picking on him from the beginning. I'm happy he decided to leave to preserve the friendship, it was the smartest thing to do. He definitely meant well and he did everything he could with the little control he had. Oh, wait a minute, the moving truck had a sign that read: Mariah-Nick and Dem babies Moving Company, that's how they figured it all out. I was walking downtown the other day and I got hit by a few water balloons, I think Dem Babies are to blame. Shelly, you were right on what I was talking about so don't worry about it, I guess I was a little ambiguous (word I learned from the one and only). I to think there is a God that is all-loving, thanks for your sincerity, it helps, it really does. PJW, that is one heck of a story and the only thing I can do is take your word for it, your words have genuinely made me more hopeful and I too wish you love and further happiness in the future. Fahmi, you have just pointed out why I love the Lambily so much, although we don't know each other on a personal level, we all care for each other, and I believe it's Mariah and her magical songwriting skills and relatability that has caused this effect. Dionne005 (46,582) by LC from USA Ok, I'm a big Michael Jackson fan as well, but have you ever heard him ask the crowd if they know "Beat It" or "Billie Jean" or "Thriller"? Or have you heard a Whitney ask the crowd if they know "I Will Always Love You"? Or Celine with "My Heart Will Go On"? They never do because they are confident enough to know that everyone in the crowd knows the song. On American Idol last year, during We Belong Together, arguably one of Mariah's biggest hits ever, she told the crowd of lambs, "Sing along if you know it, and if you don't try." That's what I'm talking about. You don't know every song, but if you don't know WBT or ABMB, then why are you even on this site? Now, I've changed my mind about it and now see it as an act of humility and/or a crowd pleaser because she gets cheers every time she asks. MimiLamb / PJW (46,579) by LC from USA Thanks for getting what I mean PJW, and I never really thought about it that way, so that's a good point. And MimiLamb, what I really mean is that I have never seen an artist of her stature ask something like that. You would rarely or never hear Whitney, Celine, Michael, Madonna or Janet ever ask that during their concerts. Those are people on Mariah's level as legendary superstars, and the one thing they all have that Mariah doesn't have is confidence on stage. A comparison I once read about Whitney and Mariah was that Mariah pleaded with the audience for their attention, while Whitney commanded it. It seems pretty accurate because in my opinion, Mariah is a lot more humble on stage than Whitney or any of the other performers. (Maybe because she didn't grow up performing like they did? I think she said that.) But it really used to annoy me how she would never acknowledge her status. But, idk lol. I'm okay with it now. (Tuesday 2 September 2014; 16:40)

(46,578) by PJW from The U.K. What I meant to write in the last post (but forgot) was that I view Mariah's "do you know this song" thing in the same vein as the onstage diva antics. Or one time it really didn't connect for me was when she performed "Just be good to me" and she does that. "C'mon, everybody get up - get up - and you. Get up." Really, it's all banter to keep the crowd hyped but she never was good at faking it and like the first poster said, she is so lovely when relaxed that it doesn't matter (to me) if she doesn't banter much, her music is enough.
