Heavenly G#7 (45,139) by Alex from England

I don't know if you guys have already heard or discussed it but there's a "hidden" G#7 in Heavenly in unison with a G#6. I always thought that whistle had a different texture until I happened on this video that explains it. Piece of advice: listen with headphones but don't wear them if that makes any sense and the note will be heard easily. We all know her voice has suffered in the last decade and a half and it's almost time we laid that conversation to rest as all has been said and done (except that we don't know the exact reasons and can only guess) BUT I just thought I'd take a minute to express my intact admiration and amazement at the prowess her voice is still capable of. Seriously, a G#7.

Me I am Mariah (45,138) by B from USA
First I'd like to say I think Mariah should have titled the album Me I am Mariah. The Elusive Chantuese part of the title while as clever as it may sound is off putting. Reffering to herself is fine but she might as well have titled it The Elusive Diva. She's hardly elusive. She's everywhere. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I think this is one of her best albums. She proofed she's still got it twenty-four years later. She's the premiere female vocalist of our time. Treasure her talent as not only a singer but songwriter and producer. Stucking your teeth don't mess with my mood.

Thirsty meaning/theory (45,137) by TS from United States
I'm new and thought I'd chime into some of the theories of the songs on her new album. Whenever I listen to Thirsty, I never think it's actually about another person. I've always thought its been about Mariah herself. She's changed her name (well, nicknames) from Mariah to Mimi to now an elusive chanteuse. Now that she's growing older, she gets more and more "thirsty" for relevance in the public by constantly posting family (and random in general) pics and tweets. The entire premise of it I thought was how its her inner struggle of fighting against the other persona's she's made, seeing as how in The Art Of Letting Go she says "go to Mimi on your contacts and press delete..." Idk though that's just me.

Random observations (45,135) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
1) Cry. and Camouflage are great, but are practically interchangeable on first listen. 2) Thirsty is in need of more signature Mariah moments. For some reason, the smooth harmonies and the wail seconds before the end just don't seem enough. 3) Despite great vocals during the climaxes, it's songs like YM(E) and Supernatural that weigh down the album lyrically. I'd count #Beautiful in there as well if it weren't saved by the throwback production. 4) Meteorite may sound "cheap" to some, but compared to the electronic mess on the radio today, it's gold. There's something aptly "celestial" and dreamy about the production that distracts from the fact that it's actually a sad commentary on the harsh reality of stardom. 5) M ($*/. . . ) is catchy, but gets a bit too repetitive as it plays. Love the insistent horn blares, though. 6) Correct me if I'm wrong: Mimi has only had 3 tracks (that aren't remixes) on the standard editions of all her albums that exceed 6 minutes: TBO (Butterfly), LNADJSML (Glitter), and OMT (MIAMTEC). All of which happen to be covers of 80s songs. Interesting. Trivia alert. Haha. Not surprising, though, as Mariah is very much an 80s baby, even more so musically. 7) IAW fits more with the album's overall sound so I can live with that, but I would rather have the "remix" of Ribbon replace BGK just because it's the only MOAIA rehash that employed the most changes (which is still not saying much). 8) TAOLG should've made the final tracklist. Most critics agree as well. Plus, moving on has never been so verbose and multisyllabic. 9) Love that JD has grown as a producer and at least varied his execution of the annoyingly relentless signature clapping beat that plagued a lot of his work especially during the 00s (E=MC2, Janet's 20 Y.O., and TEOM, though his input in the latter was inspired). I mean Pharrell did somehow outgrow the thumping sonics of his Neptunes days, and I'm glad JD was able to catch up, especially since it seems he'll be Mariah's go-to producer for a long time. 10) This is the first album that Mariah sounds like a veteran artist looking back at what made her what she is today with wisdom and candor. (P.S. Thanks a lot webmaster for always allowing my messages to be posted, no matter how tedious they always are. Obviously I'm not exactly laconic. More power.)

Probably the realest interview she's ever done (45,134) by Marissa from USA

Just sitting here getting my life to this video. Why was Mariah even associating with someone as messy as Wendy? Child lol.

The past few years? (45,133) by RibbonB from USA
It would seem that the past few years would be the past three or four, that's what few means. LolThe whole CD could be about the ups and downs of her present relationship. It's rather absurd to assume otherwise, IMO. She had definitely said that the world gets the best of Nick, which ties in very well to Faded. But I'm glad if she is giving him one more try. anyway, I bought and love the CD, I wish more of her fans had actually purchased it.

Cry-ing for Derek (Elena) (45,132) by TR from USA
Wow, thanks for pointing that out because I was trying to tie that song to Luis. I guess it really doesn't matter, but it's definitely cool to be able to assign certain lyrics to a certain person. Gives us a better glimpse of who she is emotionally, even though she says she tries to be vague lyrically so anyone can put themselves in the song. That's fine. But I really appreciate it when I can experience her personal journey and get her emotions and perspective on a relationship (Side Effects, Sunflowers, Through The Rain). Btw, I really do wonder how Nick feels about her making these emotions public. I mean we all know she's not talking about him on the long-lost love songs on MIAM. I don't know how I'd feel if my girl were singing about how much she misses a former flame and we've got two babies, eighty dogs, and a house is not a home. Anyway, I'd be interested in your theories about who some of the other songs on MIAM are about. Particularly Make It Look Good, Thirsty (if it's not Damizza), You're Mine, and YDKWTD.

Updates, appearances, or anything (45,131) by Leito from USA
I visit this site (and others) daily for any type of update, or scheduled appearances to promote the new album. WTF, my patience is wearing thin. I've done my part promoting her new music at work, with friends, family and even on different social networks. I'm going to always keep supporting MC cbecause she's my #1 artist of all time. I just get frustrated when I know people (outside of us Lambs) are missing out on some great music. Until I mentioned it, lots of my friends/co-workers/family didn't even know she had an album out. I know others have already voiced there same frustration. I just wanted to throw mines in here too. Lol. Be bless my fellow Lambily.

That interviewer wasn't bad at all, considering Mariah and her team made her wait 12 hours for the interview. I would've been in a lot worse of a mood.

Check this out (45,127) by Billy from Greece

I'm sorry about the language I may use, but everytime I come across this interview, I just wish I could punch that interviewer. I mean, supposedly Mariah is the diva, the difficult, snob, whatever celebrity bla bla bla. But check the attitude of the interviewer, especially her look. She oozes bitchiness and total contempt for Mariah. MC is so articulate and nice here. And what does that other bitch have to say? "Humility doesn't sit all that comfortably." Really? Some people. No wonder Mariah, or any celebrity, is fed up with interviewers and interviews of this kind and acts "weird" in future interviews. I mean, just look at that woman, her haughtiness. Who does she think she is? I swear, I don't know the lady, but she comes across as a vastly disagreeable person.

Derek Jeter? (45,126) by Elena from The Netherlands
I know we will never know the true story/inspiration about the songs on MIAMTEC but since MC has stated that some songs are very personal and put a lot of time sequencing them, I'm gonna have a go at it with some theories:
Cry - She already said this song was very personal to her and this album should be heard as a body of work, her journey over the past few years. I can't help but thinking this is about Derek. She was so in love with him during the Butterfly era and she's gave some hints in her songs long after they broke up. Charmbracelet included SI and Lullaby, where she sings "how's your family please say hello from me". MC said that Dereks bi-racial family impressed her. They worked out when her family didn't and she felt their warmth and love as she would've loved to experience with her own family.
TEOM had WBT and DFAU, the latter of which she made a video in a "sports theme" which links directly to Derek being a baseball player. Plus all the guys were bald-ish like Derek. She said For The Record was very autobiographic. With Camouflage the only thing she wants to know is if he still loves her. Cry and Faded close the book on Jeter. The few pics that are on the net from them being together clearly shows how in love she is and how she adores him. They broke up because he couldn't deal with the media attention on them, so I think he was the love of her life untill she settled with Nick, which basicly began so when they had their twins since the last album.

Help with ideas for an MC inspired birthday basket (45,125) by JJ from Good Times from USA
So I found another reason to buy the new album and drinks. My friend, who is a casual M fan and super fan when drunk, is having a birthday brunch this Saturday. I decided to make her a "goodies" basket filled with M products. I already have two butterfly drinks, the new cd, the M pink perfume, and a whole bunch of ring pop candies. Any other suggestions on what to stuff it with? I couldn't find the OPI nail polishes. My friends are all "normal", I'm the only crazy fan, but I think they will think it's a nice gift. I wish I could post a picture to show you all.

Fairweather lambs (45,123) by Manny from U.S.
Reading the messageboard for the past few days proves to me some lambs are just "fairweather" fans. I can't wait for a successful album when Mariah repeats the Emancipation era. The "lambs" that are writing her off and speaking so negatively about her, will eat their words. They will jump on the bandwagon and love her again, just because she is #1 on all the charts again. It seems some people dislike her when she's flopping and love her when she's on top of the world.

Hoping Mariah is Ariana's TRL guest (45,122) by Nicole from US
I don't know if anyone has posted about this yet but wouldn't it be great if Mariah uses the TRL comeback to turn things around? Here's hoping that she can come and be supportive to someone that she influenced by a great deal. Since Ariana's fans are in full force in buying stuff maybe this can be something that would work to MCs advantage and make people think she is really nice to other female singers especially to the one that has idolized her in current music.

Thanks, Bill (45,121) by Lee from USA
I was making the point if other artists are doing worse than Mimi was, we can't be losing our minds about a damn photo. I just stated the obvious, and if you are going to get mad at me for doing so, then you all should get mad at the Reelz Channel for putting their business out there. Lately, she has been talking about her kids and she put the album together. Every time she is in a magazine, they list her accolades. In other news, did Nick actually said that stuff or did the media made it up like they did with the MJ fiasco.

How is her diva attitude working for her? (45,119) by Edward from USA
With all the accolades that Mariah has, being the most influential artist of the past 20 years, having written most of her hits, having more #1's than any other female artist in the US so far, why is she considered to be some sort of a joke? When she came back with TEOM, people embraced her, but her attitude was different back then. I was at the VH1 taping when she sang with John Legend. My friend, whom I had brought with me, told me he had a new respect for Mariah, she was humble and likable then. Now this constant announcement of what she is or has achieved isn't actually helping her, but working against her. She's the only one laughing with her Marilyn impersonation, because most people think she's full of herself, and arrogant. Whitney succumbed to drugs, but her talent spoke for her. Whitney is remembered for being the Voice, even when she died with no voice. Celine may not sell much in the US, but people respect her worldwide, and they would go to Vegas and see her in concert around the world. People don't respect Mariah as they do Barbra, Whitney, or Celine, and that is very sad because she's the most accomplished of all them all. So, how is this diva sh*t working for her so far? The blindest person is the one who doesn't want to see.

Jaker (45,118) by Bill from the UK
I think the idea here is to not blow things out of proportion. Mariah didn't release an "In Bed with Mariah" book like Madonna did, doesn't take illegal drugs nor has a shady theme park where no adults are allowed. If Mariah's single cover is photoshopped, let's thank God for small mercies instead of running her into the ground about it. It's not that big a deal.

Bill (45,117) by jaker20 from US
Well if that's Lee's point, then it's a terrible comparison. To be comparing MC to those who have passed is a little, yeah ott. I mean, that's not even close, it's slightly tasteless. MC is still with us making great music. We all agree with this. But MC is also with us wasting her talent. MC isn't gone, she's just lost imo. And I know there's many of us who think MC still have many years of great music ahead of her.

Bye Bye video (45,116) by Mikey from USA
Hey guys, I was randomly watching the Bye Bye video yesterday and I must say she looked amazing during that time, I think she was on some kind of "fish soup" diet at the time though. I really don't get the lack of effort in this era especially with such a stand out album and tracks that she says she is most proud of. Oh well, just my 2 cents. I'm enjoying the music either way.

I can't be sure but maybe that reference had to do with MCs sister Alison (ex crack addict) having two of her kids (Michael and Shawn) raised by her Mother Patricia. And yeah, that whole post WAS a little over the top... personal issues maybe?

Jaker (45,114) by Bill from the UK
I think Lee's point was he was referring to artists like Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, who both had much more serious charges against them than Mariah ever has. Exposing a bit of cleavage and lipping to a song causes uproar amongst fans and non-fans alike. Yet MJ can ply kids with "Jesus Juice", Whitney can smoke her way into an early grave, yet they are still respected and considered legends in the industry when Mariah isn't.
