Movie (44,915) by Dove from USA
I was listening to MIAM in the car and I had a great idea. I was watching reruns of Jem & the Holograms with my niece on Netflix last night. While listening to the album I was thinking it tells a story - what if they made a movie musical out of it? Either animated or with real people. I'm imagining it really colorful, like Jem. Then each song would have a music video. It's something adult fans could enjoy with their kids. When I watch Jem as an adult I see things that went over my head when I was a kid. If done well I think it could be really cool.

Re: The fabulous Miss Monroe (44,914) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
I don't think Mariah meant Roe is a "diva" in the negative sense. She's just saying Monroe is a girly girl like her. She just a little sweet princess. I see no signs of brattiness at all from Mariah's children I must say. Dem babies seem incrediably sweet and full of personality.

Re linguist (44,912) by TR from USA
Ehh sometimes I can take her thug verbiage and sometimes it's like she's trying to be that other overhyped, undereducated individual with a "hive" stans. I digress. I think it's it wresting when you compare the regression of her writing style over the years. In some cases it works very well (I love "gooder" and "oh you a G now?"). In other cases it does come across that she's trying too hard to be 20 and clearly the world knows she's not, so it hammers home the fact that she's washed up. Who wants to hear anyone their mom's age saying "up out my face boy". Uhh.

Daley (re: Carlos Jaramillo) (44,911) by Edward from USA
I bought "Days & Nights" by Daley. I sat and listen undisturbed, and I'm actually impressed. He has, as you stated, Mariahsque inflections in his style of singing. If he writes his own music, he's definitely a great lyricist. I'm so happy to see quality music being released, I just hope people give talent a chance. Thanks for recommending his music, I hadn't ever heard anything from him before.

Re Monroe (44,910) by TR from USA
Believe me I'm not calling that adorable kid a brat by any means lol. I don't know them. I'm just saying if someone I know personally has a daughter that age as is going around explaining her behavior as "she's such a diva", my first thought would be that the baby gets whatever she wants and is prone to tantrums if they're not delivered, since divas are notoriously difficult and demanding. I'm jut saying it's not cute to term your toddler a diva all over the place. Once or twice is funny, but in response to every mention of dembabies - when it's not even the question? (Hahaha, that was shade, lol. Sorry. She's my Mimi and I love her but when someone asks her about her album and she answers with something like "it was so hard to stay focused because I have like eighty dogs running around my house and their names are..."). I'm like .

Little Ms Monroe the Chanteuse (44,909) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
So really guys? That's what we're gonna do now? Come for Little Miss Monroe? She's just a little girl that admires her mother, who just so happens to be someone we've loved and admired as well. Can you blame her? There's nothing to be alarmed by, I'm sure Roc and Roe, are being raised right. Do you guys forget how great of a person Mariah and Nick both are? The philanthropy? The spiritual awareness? The work ethic? These kids have two great loving parents. Lets take our "negative" blinders off for a second and acknowledge that. Case in point: Ms Monroe ran over and asked her daddy was he okay and told him to be careful, when he played as if Roe knocked him out. Shows that she already cares for others.

Diva thing OOC (44,908) by May from Denmark
I feel that MC talked so much about the idea of diva that she ended up believing it. One of the things that turned me down as being a hardcore fan was the drastic change in her personality over the years. Yes she used to use the word "darling" but it was not over the top as it is now. I can't watch or hear through a whole interview because many times she just rambles and mumbles and then does that thing with her face to a side while still mumbling things and covering her face with her hair. It's repetitive and tiresome. The same with the lightning thing, the make up stuff, the pinky up when holding a cup and the usual splash of whatever thing she is drinking and the insufferable uncomfortable looking poses. There is this other thing that drives me insane and is that she can't even deliver a real joke anymore, it feels forced all the time and when she can't finish it because she doesn't know what to say she simply laughs and replies "whatever". Before she was truely funny, it was spontaneous, she didn't have to try so hard all the time. This is my point of view ofc. Maybe it's an age crisis or something, I don't know. This whole "diva" thing started really heavy when she got to perform for the Divas VH1, she would joke at first, then it got out of hand. I don't like it. And I even loved when she did her Bianca role, was so much fun. It would be nice to see her walking with strength in her performances but her dresses make seem contrived.

Interview (44,905) by G.G. from USA
J-Lo did an interview with The Breakfast Club this morning and she said. "We had the time where we would drop the thing and it would go straight to #1 and the album would go to #1 and we did that two, three times, four times over. She (Mariah) probably did it more times than I did." Lol there's no probably (all caps) about it. You tried it with that comment. She really thinks she's in the same lane as Mariah. The delusion is very real.

MC, Nicki, JLo (44,903) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
This may sound negative and some lambs may "come at me" for this, but please bear in mind I'm just giving my opinion, I'm not trying to pretend it's a fact. Also, I love MC, her songs give me life, can't really say the same about Nicki and JLo (I am not a fan of those 2). I agree with those who say that JLo is more "likable" in the sense that when you hear her interviews, she sounds sweet, she answers questions directly instead of beating around the bush, and I have yet to see an interview of hers where she disses MC. She did allow Mottola to use her to sabotage MC, but that was near the beginning of her career and one has to understand that in this business you either swim or drown, so she did what she had to do for her career and it's not like she was best buddies with MC and went around her back to sabotage her. She not only acknowledges MC, she always has nice things to say about her and even said she's a fan. And as for Nicki, I thought at first that it was all a publicity stunt by both their camps but oh well. However even Nicki had said that she loved MC and was extremely happy when MC not only asked her to do a duet but also allowed her to be in the video. She sounded genuinely starstruck that an artist of Mc's caliber had included her. During AI when she went to Ellen she said that she was surprised about what went wrong and said something along the lines that "imagine you idolize somebody all your life and when you finally meet her she hates you". So basically, I think MC's larger than life personality is making her sound untouchable and maybe haughty at times and that may put off some people. I watch her old interviews (pre 2000s) and she sounds so sweet and nice (which I am sure she still is) and it's fun to watch. Nowadays she is taking the diva antics to a whole other level. No, I am not telling her to be fake niceness. MC said it herself that the diva act is just for the show. So basically she is faking that, why not balance the sweet 90s Mariah and the diva Mariah, instead of always relying on the diva act?

this_is_qhm from the Philippines (44,901) by Lee from UK
It seems that all of your highlights are my lowlights. I thoroughly dislike the lyrics "Oh you a G now?" and "turnt-up" and "gooder". I understand the use of colloquialism but I really don't think Mariah uses these in her every day language (she certainly doesn't in interviews) so I don't understand why she would sound this way in her music. There is nothing wrong with good old-fashioned standard English. (I mean come on "gooder"? Really, Mariah?) I dislike the GaGa-type delivery of the Warhol quote on Meteorite. Dembabies voices are freaky on Supernatural and saying Mariah belts on that song "like it's '95 again" is stretching the truth a bit. There are things I like about this album though and it goes by the name of Make It Look Good.

Monroe (44,900) by B from USA
I think Mariah means Monroe likes the finer things in life. I don't get the brat comment. She's a little girl. Little girls like gems and high heels. Mariah's closet would be heaven on earth for a girly girl.

Daley (re Carlos) (44,898) by TR from USA
Yes. Daley is saving R&B right now, and he is a Mariah fan to boot, so you already know he has certain inflections in his delivery. If you don't look up any other song of his, check out his live acoustic cover of Climax. Usher is no longer allowed to perform it. Stolen, repackaged, and sold. Daley slayed it. His album Days And Nights is 14 unskippable tracks of perfection. Also, you have to check out Allen Stone, this hippie kid from like Out Of Nowhere, Oregon. I'm not going to say this lightly: He gives me all kinds of Stevie Wonder. And his falsetto is absolutely nasty. Look up any of his live performances of You And I or I Can't Make You Love Me.

Re Andrew and this_is_qhm (44,897) by TR from USA
Andrew, I'm sure MC is trying to convey how "cute" it is that Roe is a diva, and it actually is cute whenever she describes the ultrasound image haha. But somewhere after age 1, it stops being cute and turns into a "the poor nanny" situation. I'm with you on not telling anyone how to raise their kids, but I'd hope they both have or get a handle on this before it's too late. If she wants Roe to have a career in music (another thing I don't understand, remember back when she was pregnant and was so against imposing an identity on the babies that she'd hardly even put them in blue/pink outfits? Two months after they were born, aside from naming them basically rock-n-roll, she declared they were both going to be musicians and had "RockStar" on the drums and Miss Monroe was a diva who doesn't even know what the word means) she should consider how the general public feels about the humility of the celebs they lift up to that level. Otherwise, she's setting them both up for mockery and failure. To this_is_qhm, I 100% agree with your lowlights on MIAM. That drum kick on Heavenly (and OMT for that matter) makes my ears hurt. I also agree that the laugh after "Oh you a G now" is a highlight. It's just a ridiculously hot laugh. Plus, "@-ing me constantly", brilliant. And the climax of Supernatural is one of the top three most amazing moments on this album ("you make the beat go on and on and onnnnnnnn"). That note was delivered by grace and sponsored by 1997.

JLo / Mariah's image (44,896) by Daydream327 from USA
JLo was on the breakfast club this morning and I got a chance to catch her interview. She was asked about what challenges do artists like her and Mariah face in this current landscape and Charlemagne brought up Mariah's sales. JLo answered by saying she feels her and Mariah have nothing left to prove. JLo had nothing but great things to say about Mariah and even noted that Mariah has sold more records than her. She was very complementary. I couldn't help but notice just how naturally likable and down to earth JLo was in this interview, it actually made me want to give her album a listen. In all honesty to the public JLo just seems genuinely easier to connect to than Mariah. Which brings me to Mariah's public image. I feel Mariah's image is what is causing this album to do so poorly. The music is great, but sadly her image is what is turning people off (even fans). I think we can all agree that even us lambs are tired of Mariah's over the top persona nowadays. The thing is she's always had a fun personality but at the same time she has always speaked about things that were important that we all enjoyed hearing about but now everything is so repetative and pointless. I think a lot of this comes from her insecurities. Idk. she just isn't as comfortable and confident as she once was. Her live performances could also be contributing to low sales being that they haven't been that great and are rarely live. Like I said people love the music, she needs to improve on her image.

Great music is coming back (to: Edward from USA) (44,895) by Carlos Jaramillo from USA
Yo, Edward. I'm so glad to hear you say that. I think the same exact thing. Slowly but surely, great music and "true" R&B is slowly creeping its way back into mainstream. You mentioned Sam Smith in your message. His music is really hot. Sounds so old school yet, so fresh and new. If you like him, you have to have to have to check out Daley. He is also British and, straight up, his music is better than Sam Smith. His voice is mesmerizing. He has Mariahesque inflections in his voice and his runs give me chills man. The production is pure pure R&B and its sooooooo well put together. I think everyone that likes MIAMTEC will love this album. Im usually not for male singers but, this dude took my breath away. He is nothing to look at but once you hear him, it's perfectly ok. lol Let me know your opinion if you get a chance. I'm so excited to hear these kind of beats again.

Believe or not (44,894) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
I actually don't hate J.Lo. I just personally don't find her to be more likeable than Mariah. From stealing husbands, dating for relevancy, and leaching every market she can get her claws on; I just so happen feel the exact opposite (and this was before I knew of anything she did concerning Mariah). She just knows how to play the game that's all. Though Mariah's annoyance stemmed from J.Lo allowing herself to be used as a pawn in sabotaging her career and perhaps the notion of ppl daring to compare them as singers; I've noticed she doesn't even say anything about her anymore, so I'll do the same after this post. I wish her the best.

My stray observations on MIAMTEC (44,893) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
1) This album is unapologetically and unabashedly nostalgic. The Dedicated intro says it all.
2) Madonna once said, "If I'm gonna rip someone off, why not my own material?" which Mimi seems to agree with. Love the following nods to her past songs, intentional or not: the retention of the Can't Let Go-esque intro from the original version of OMT; the descending keyboard chord before the final chorus of Cry. reminiscent of Twister; the interpolation of Fantasy on Dedicated.
3) Lowlights: Mary's horribly clichéd spoken intro on IAW; the omission of the "lalalalalalaugh" part on BGK; copy-paste editing and no resung vocals on both "remixes"; too much giggling on Supernatural; lack of emotional connection and cheesy beat in OMT; the overpowering drum track on H(CGUN/NWT).
4) Highlights: the match-lighting transition to YM(E); how Mariah jokingly sings "Oh you a G now?" on Thirsty; the almost GaGa-aping delivery of the Warhol quote and the use of "turnt-up" on Meteorite; her over-enunciation of the B in the word "boy" on the YDKWTD intro, plus the interesting way the song glides like Estelle's American Boy; Stevie's harmonica and the use of "gooder" on MILG; Dembabies talking and Mimi belting like it's '95 again on the climax of Supernatural; how she repeatedly sings "goodbye" in OMT; Mary's sassy, nuanced take on the second verse of IAW; the catchy staccato keyboard work on Faded; the drunken banter in Dedicated, plus how the song's laid-back vibe reminds me of Beyonce's "Party".

Best albums of 2014 (44,892) by Edward from USA
I think that Mariah's "MIAMTEC" and Sam Smith "In The Lonely Hour" are the best albums of 2014 so far. Good music is coming back, slowly, but it is definitely coming back. I feel like I'm cheating on Mariah when I indulge into Sam Smith's album, but it is that good. This guy deserves to be heard, so soulful. As for Mariah, as I have stated, it's pure art. I feared for a Memoirs part 2, but she gave us great music.

Totally agree with Dembabies by TR from USA (44,891) by Andrew from Australia
I totally agree with what TR commented about the babies, in particular MC always describing her daughter as a bigger diva. She seems like a proud mom saying that about her daughter. I am not here to teach MC how to raise her kids but does anybody feel uncomfortable with that? And lately, especially in the last few years, MC seems to perpetuate this diva persona and seems to believe that it is a positive image. What does everybody think?
