JLo observation (44,862) by Will from Australia What's going on in the music world? We've all critiqued Mariah's lack of promotion but JLo was nearly everywhere including the World Cup and American Idol and sells half of that Mariah did? She also had all that press coverage with her break up. She's also a lot sexier looking than Mariah right now but it made no difference. Now there's no debating the talent but for someone who you'd think was popular right now, to sell 25k in her first week is astonishing. Maybe once you hit 40 you're done? People (the younger generation in particular) are not fascinated by JLo because of her music, but her fashion sense and amazing body. Sadly, that translates better to the younger generation than meaningful songs. It's shallow that we live in a world like this, but even if the only thing Mariah did was get her body in check she'd probably see more success. When MC had her E=MC2 body, it was considered cool to be a fan because many people thought she was hot. Sad, but true. First post here, MC fan from NY State since 1990 (44,852) by Ty from USA Hi everyone. I've been coming to this site for years, and this is my first post. I love the new album. It is a true work of art. I think Mariah definitely out-did herself. The throwback tracks, discoesque beats, killer ballads, she even has gospel on it. Not thrilled with the IAW remix but all MC's songs are good. Just some are better than others. My top 5 from MIAM... TEC are: 5. YMILG 4. Camouflage 3. Faded 2. Heavenly 1. YDKWTD. I hope it's a single. It'd be cool to see a live album (perhaps another unplugged?). And not another compilation. Idk any lamb/true MC fan would insult her on here. And I respect opinions but regardless of the press, regardless of the charts (it'd be wonderful to see her dominate again though), I find her to be still as relevant, just as classy, just as talented now as she was then. She still has her voice. And she is older, experienced, and wiser. She knows what's going on and I trust she has a contingency plan for if this didn't sell well. But idk where they're getting their numbers. I bought two copies myself. And the album didn't sell well? Shame on the lambs who didn't buy it (I thought there were millions of us, not less than 100K). Yeah it was late, and there are probably dozens of reasons we will never know, but it's a great album, well worth the wait. Maybe this ain't over with though. Maybe a part 2? Anyone feel me on this? Opinions are like the anus, everybody has one. They are opinions and everybody is entitled to them as long as they are not offensive to Mariah. Let people be frustrated, happy or whatever, believe me when I tell you that the webmaster will edit out inappropriate posts, and those posts disrespecting Mariah won't be posted. This messagaboard has been this way for 16 years, and that's what makes it unique. We can be happy, frustrated, euphoric, but we can also be realistic and express our opinions about what we like or not about Mariah's music. We don't just hold hands and praise everything Mariah here, we have concerns and opinions that we cannot express anywhere else without being stoned to death. Been a lamb since 1993 and I really like reading you guys, positive and "negative" stuff about Mariah. Our girl and her team are not perfect, and it's so difficult to find real lambs in real life that it's so relieving to be able to discuss stuff here. Negative comments on the messageboard / please stop (44,841) by Edward from USA Since we need to be positive, and more than positive, real lambs, we need to start discussing positive things about this era and Mariah, like: How great the promotion for MIAMTEC has been, and how Mariah posts pics on Instagram, but doesn't say anything about what's going on. To follow the positivity of my fellow real fans, or should I say lambs? Today I got the wonderful Lollipop Bling perfume, and 20 bottles of the Butterfly drink, yes, that drink that talks to you when you drink it and tells you what is going on with promotion, and when a new single will be released. As real lambs, it's imperative that we all buy many copies of the nail polish today, that's very positive and engaging. It is very positive to paint our nails in different colors. And for those negative fans that won't stop talking about Mariah's voice and such, you should be ashamed of yourselves, just like our beloved Isaac Ortiz once said, the voice is there just like the first day, you should all clean your ears, how dare you talking about laser treatment? And last but not least, as a real and positive lambs, you should know that Migrate should've been a single, thank God I remembered that one, only positive and real lambs like me know that one. "Grown up fan" (44,840) by MCLAFAN from USA I'm a "grown up fan". I've been a fan since 1995 and would've been a fan since 1990 but my city didn't have any top 40 stations until around 1995. It says a lot about someone when they make assumptions about an artist without taking into consideration that they are real people with real lives and real problems. Do you all recall her talking about putting up that "wall" in the Matt Lauer interview? I think she's got some things going on right now and I will never assume or go off and a "tangent" about what MC needs to do or not do. I understand your point and I assure you as a fair "lamb" I know how to decifer the difference between a mature constructive discussion regarding MC and someone just being negative and disparaging. I just don't want a negative connotation to start being asscociated with being a "lamb". I would hate for a term or endearment that Mariah has given us to turn into something "bad" or "shameful". It's a messageboard so differences in opinions are inevitable. What's a message board without diversity? But at the end of the day we should all still maintain a level of respect for not only Mariah, but each other as fans, lambs, or whatever term fits you best as a person with Mariah's best interest. Lamb O Chop (44,836) by Bill from the UK I apologise, but I'm exasperated. You can't have a decent discussion here without a "lamb" (for want of a better word) elbowing their way into the conversation and calling us negative. There's nothing negative about what the grown up fans discuss here whatsoever. We talk about concerns and irregularities and things which don't sit right with us. That's not being negative, but just coming here to talk to like minded people (as there are no Mariah fans in "real life" seemingly, this is the only place to say what's on our minds and get feedback on it). I'm tired of walking on egg shells here through fear of being lynched if I say a live performance wasn't that great. As I mentioned there are plenty of forums etc. for praise and worship of Mariah, but this message board's appeal is it's sensible members and realistic topic discussions.
