Hey. Do you mind enlightening us on Mariah's ad-libs at the end of Thirsty? That is if it is included in the lyrics sheet?

True lambs (44,834) by Dan from US
Lets Mariah, Beyonce and Toni duet on a song together, come on.

Hold up now (44,833) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
Lets not do the term "lamb" as if its something negative boo. . Because my definition of being a lamb is a loyal fan that holds MC in the highest regard. That doesn't mean being delusional or being unable to offer respectful constructive criticism. So I'm gonna need you all to keep it cute. If you are a casual, fair-weather, or love/hate relationship type fan then that's your prerogative, and I have no issue with that. However, I do have an issue with you coming for my fan status in a negative way, so lets not turn this into the "fans" versus the "lambs" war.

Lyrics MIAMTEC (44,832) by nancy from Switzerland
I got the Japanese version of the album and it contains a separate white booklet with all the lyrics and translation in Japanese. I don't understand why the European version and the US version does not have the lyrics inside.

Mariah (44,831) by Dan from US
I think the only way would be if Mariah does a duet with Beyonce or Toni Braxton and that will sell. She needs controversy lambs. And that will gain sales.

MCLAFAN (44,830) by Bill from the UK
Sorry, but I'm so sick of these sorts of messages. I am a proud non-lamb. I'd never want to be like you. Plenty of fans, Stephen, Edward, PJW to name just a few, express their thoughts constructively and discuss real issues with fans here. At the same time, they're each praising her latest album which we all agree is a fantastic record. If this message board is too high brow for you then stick to YouTube comments. (Slaps MCLAFAN in the face with a MIAMTEC CD.)

[...] (44,829) by MCLAFAN from USA
You people are full of negativity galore. [...] If you are a true lamb, you support Mariah through and through. That means you can have an opinion and still love Mimi, but you dont bombard messageboards (which are meant for fans to connect and express their love for Mimi) not blow the boards up with your bitter mess. She has been nothing but nice and supportive of her fans since the very beginning. I can't wait until she goes on tour. I will be [...] singing my little heart out, because I am a [...]. I have opinions and Mariah isn't perfect but this new album is [...]. You all have taken over this messageboard with your hateful remarks and need to be slapped in the face with a Madonna CD.

Mariah to promo her new album (44,828) by Shamsulikhram Mahamood from Malaysia
I wish Mimi will go to promote her album in a mini concert or any TV appearence so people will hear and know how good her album is. She can even promote her new drinks at the same time but first priority is her album.

Nodules removal (44,827) by RadChad from United States
PJW, it's funny. I've actually had this discussion with a good friend late last month and like Edward said, I believe Mariah's just afraid to go under the knife. She's learned how to sing around the nodules all her life (she's had them since childhood), and in many early interviews cited that they've actually contributed to her voice/worked as an advantage (whistle register and lower huskier register). Which is why I believe she doesn't want to risk the surgery because she doesn't know what it means for her voice. Obviously they've gotten to a point where they work more as a disadvantage now, so I agree that something has to give. Mariah is aware of how sensitive her voice is, so if she's serious about reclaiming its full glory; she should do her part first by avoiding certain things that'll have adverse affects on it. Otherwise bow out gracefully, because the struggle to sing live is becoming more obvious and frequent. Someone mentioned that many singers have undergone the surgery which is more advanced now, but at the same time we don't know how bad Mariah's are or how risky it would be. I'm hoping for MC to do her part and believing in God to do the rest (a miracle). Her voice is here to bless people, but you can't abuse God's gift for too long and expect it to not be taken away. One another note, did anybody hear the rumour that she actually did secretly undergo the surgery in '97 and what we're hearing now is actually the result of that?

A reliable Mariah lyrics site (44,826) by Andrew from Australia
Can anybody recommend a really good and reliable lyrics site for Mariah's new album? I've scrolled through a few and not all the lyrics are complete. I am particularly interested in the Wale rap verses in YDKWTD, which is my most favorite song. And I may be the only one here but MILG is my least favorite song. And does anybody feel that Mariah has a habit of laughing in a lot of her songs.

Does it really matter? (44,825) by Danny Braden from Uk
Mariah should def not risk surgery, what does it matter if she can't or won't sing live when 20+ years she still puts out an album like MIAMTEC with amazing vocals? We forget just how talented she is, even now. Stop saying "the state" of her voice, it's a one of a kind. You'd have to wait 100s of years to have a possibility of someone like Mariah. Maybe never. Even now it's great. Appreciate the details on songs like Money and Heavenly and the joy she brings, it's like everyone's living in the past except Mariah.

PJW (44,824) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Great post. I was thinking something similar recently. Something definitely has to give. Mariah can't go on as she has been, and some kind of action needs to be taken. IMO, there's no point in Mariah having surgery unless she changes her lifestyle to accompany it. I think she needs to do something though, because as things stand, her voice is not standing up and the deterioration that has taken place has been incredibly rapid, when compared to Barbra Streisand or Celine Dion, for example. A lifestyle change, a full time vocal coach, and surgery is probably needed. Tbh, even if she lost her whistle register, it would be worth it to have the rest of her vocal capability in tact. Atm, her technique barely allows her to whistle live anyway.

Carlos Jaramillo (44,823) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Great post. That clip was very nice to see, and is not something I had seen before. I agree with your post, and liked the confidence Mariah exuded back then. It's such a shame the way things have turned out. Mariah seems to be a real victim of celebrity, and has lost the essence of who she is in it all. It's sad to see. I find her amusing, and still like her. There's no point in wishing she is the same person she was when she was 25. I don't know many 44 year olds who are, but it's just a shame that Mariah seems so lost at an age where she should know exactly who she is and her win self worth.

Mariah's vocal insecurities (response to Carlos Jaramillo) (44,822) by ADAM from USA
Carlos that clip of Mariah from MTV during Christmas was amazing. That's around the time I and the rest of the world feel in love with MC - she had a voice of an angel and the bright personality of a girl from LI. Very relatable and funny. Watching the clip made me sad because it reminded me how out of touch she has become from where she used to be. Nowadays she would never let cameras see her rehearse like that or be so intimate with fans one on one. I wish someone would be able to break through to her from her past and get her to become more humble again. I remember listening to a Wendy Williams interview on YouTube with Brenda K Starr and she recounts in very good detail her relationship with MC and how over the years she shafted her and became so Hollywood. It's an excellent listen and still searchable on YouTube. Its really sad but so believable esp coming from someone who knew MC so intimetely. A good way to re-connect with the public would be to perform another MTV Live Unplugged show. That would hush all the nay-sayers but also show the world that yes her voice has matured but unlike everyone else whose voice is one note, her voice as it ages takes on different textures and tones that no one else has. I think it would win her the respect of the general public. She's a singer's singer and has the guts to pull something like that off. I'm always rooting for her. Thanks for sharing that wonderful clip.

Some of these posts are so depressing, I can't even know what to say. Did you know nobody stays the same their whole life? Mariah Carey is no exception.

Carlos Jaramillo / that Mariah (44,819) by Edward from USA
Carlos Jaramillo, what you stated on you post was so on point. Little did we know. She looked so confident in that video because she knew she had it (the voice). She could've put a diva persona back then because she actually had her voice to back it up, but she didn't. That's why, at this stage in her career, I don't understand the diva attitude, the dahlings, her inability to compliment another artist (Ariana) who has praised her on almost every interview. The shine she had on that video has been lost, and I'm so sorry for her. It was really about the music/voice back then. Not big boobs, not gimmicks, just her voice. It was easier to cover things up back then too, but now with a camera on virtually every phone, anything can be easily exposed.

The voice / the procedure / this is not 1997 (44,818) by Edward from USA
Adele, Justin Timberlake, Nathan Sykes, Steven Tyler, just to name a few, have had nodules removed with the new and accurate Green Light KTP laser. Julie went under the knife, and they mutilated part of her vocal chords back in 1997, but we are in 2014, and with the accuracy of laser technology, I don't think that would happen to Mariah. I just think that she doesn't want to lose the whistle register by getting her nodules removed. Over singing damage her voice, she was only 27 and without many world tours when she started having problems, so obviously her life style change, after she broke free from Tommy, had a huge impact on her voice (yes, weed, alcohol, smoke, lack of sleep affect the voice). I don't blame her for enjoying life and doing certain things young people do, but her instrument definitely and evidently suffered for it.

Vocal condition is insecurities (44,817) by Carlos Jaramillo from USA

Adam from USA, [...]. Mariah has said countless times that when she was growing up and felt so different than everyone and "outside" of any normal notch or group, it was her singing ability that made her feel "special", like she "had this little secret that made her better than others". That was out of her own mouth. If you watch any interview from the days when her voice was pristine, you will note a totally different attitude in her. I remember watching this Christmas special when I was in 9th grade and thinking how sure she was of her self. Little did I know that person I was admiring wouldn't be a fraction of her former self in a decade. Just check out her demeanor, her responses, the was she stands, her level of attentiveness and her over all approach. She is a superstar. I miss Mimi. Actually no. Not Mimi. I miss Mariah Carey.

Mariah loves sugary drinks (44,816) by Me. I am Carly from USA
To be fair to Mariah regarding how sugary Butterfly is, I wanted to compare it to her all time favorite drink "snapple iced tea" as you know Mariah survived on the iced tea and a bagel for much of her pre-fame career and has always loved it, in addition champagne is super sweet to taste, so our MC has always loved sweet drinks. I compared her fav with Butterfly and they are both pretty close on sugar content, yes the tea may have some good properties but it is ridiculously sugary. So Mariah may think this is completely acceptable amount of sugar. And having toddlers I bet she has sugary treats around constantly. I hope she will let JD guide her on going a bit healthier and organic.

PJW (44,814) by Bill from the UK
Hi. You're right, it is oftentimes the elephant in the room we all avoid. Who knows, maybe the state of her voice means it takes several years to put an album together piecemeal, and several months for the "finishing touches", rather than months and weeks respectively. Surgery should always be a last resort after every avenue is exhausted. Mariah hasn't done that yet, and needs to get back on the wagon and pour her wine cellar down the drain before she does anything so drastic as to have nodule surgery. She didn't drink during her pregnancy, and her Vegas shows and Christmas album had great vocals. Not like anything from the 90s of course but good enough after several years. As for Rainbow, that is fast becoming my favourite album lately. This is what is so great about Mariah. Almost 15 years after an album comes out, I appreciate it in a whole new way.

Thirsty (44,813) by Gilbert from USA
Hi guys, just following up on my question. Does anyone have an idea of what Mariah is singing towards the end of the Thirsty song? I've looked online and it has most of the lyrics except for her verses toward the end of the song. Most sites have "oh you're thirsty x4".

Always charmed (44,812) by nancy from Switzerland
Hello I am a new member. MIAMTEC is a good album. It has a bit of everything. I really think because of the lack of promotion the album flops. No new singles, no videos, no remixes. No new magazine covers, no interviews. I guess she avoids all this promotion because she doesn't want to sing live anymore. I noticed that her voice is very strained and that she has problems with her nodules. I don't understand how Jennifer Lopez with her thin voice and the same age as Mariah is being more popular than Mariah. Her songs are not so deep as Mariah's songs. Despite her age she still is an idol for the younger generation. I heard George Michael did a concert at the opera in Paris. He resung his old hits with jazz elements. I think that would also be a solution for Mariah to give a boost to her career. And the audience would be more mature people. I wonder how her songs would sound in a jazz version. She also sang jazzy songs like The Wind, Vanishing. She could resing the songs in a lower key, where she feels more comfortable. Lets hope Mariah reads this message. Sorry for my English, I am not a native English speaker.

Charmbracelet love (44,811) by Darryle from USA
I love it when I hear people say they love Charmbracelet. It's such an underrated album. Her vocals may have been on off on the album but lyrically it's her deepest most personal album. Definitely in my top 5.

I liked your suggestions, especially about the live acoustic/acapella videos like what she did with Love Story. You should be on her PR team. Heck, almost everyone on this board should be on her PR team.
