Oh exactly that Nikki (44,079)

I read someone wrote he/she loves and even understands why Mariah sang One More Time that high and obviously everyone of us are entitled to our opinion and taste but to me all those "ad-libs" and the goodbyes during the bridge and that high tone in her voice trashed the song in a way. I mean it's a beautiful song on its own and to me the best lyrically in the album but she took away all the seriousness and deep meaning of the song and sounds almost like a joke. I don't know maybe it is that George has some of the best songs in my opinion and such an incredible voice that I would've loved Mariah to deliver a more soulfull, serious rendition in a lower key belting and running but in a lower register without that many distractions through the song. Me as well am kind of liking Faded more and more. Maybe that's why they seem to want this as the next single, who knows. Waiting for Monday and WMAs.

Triumphant (Get Em) In Me I Am Mariah catalogue (44,078)
by Raden Ratna Kesuma Joe-Yo from Singapore
| |
|
|
When Mariah Carey released Triumphant back in 2012 I really loved it, in fact all lambs around the world loved it and more excited. And it went to #1 on iTunes in several countries (but not in US). But well the song fail to chart on BB Hot 100 because alot of critics saying that Mariah sounded more featuring than her guest rapper and people tend to forget that she got a new single. Blah blah blah. But surprisingly when she released the hot remix it went to #1 in BB Hot Dance Chart I can say it's pretty fair. To me Triumphant is a very good Urban song and it got that vibe on it so I decided to include Triumphant (Get Em) Feat. Rick Ross & Meek Mill in Mariah's latest album Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse in my personal catalogue so that this inspiring song won't be abandon out of nowhere. it deserved to be in the latest album. (Just saying.)

Something unexpected (44,077)
by Michele from USA
| |
|
|
I really am enjoying her new album and haven't felt this way since The Emancipation of Mimi. I love the dream-like/otherworldly atmosphere to the album, except for songs like "Thirsty", which doesn't really seem to go with the flow and shouldn't be on the album. What I would love for Mariah to do is something completely unexpected that would stun even her harshest critics. I remember when Charmbracelet came out (which is my favorite album of hers, yes, I guess I am the minority here), everyone was completely stunned that Mariah redid a Def Leppard song. I think she should go out on a limb here and do something totally unheard of for a "diva" - and cover some 90s alternative band hit, like Alice in Chains' "Would?" or Soundgarden's "Black Holed Sun". I don't think the critics would even know what to say and they'd be left looking like this. Lol.

Nikki's favorites (44,073)
by Nicole from US
| |
|
|
My favorites are Meteorite, Cry, YDKWTD, Camouflage, Heavenly. Faded is growing on me. I am wondering on what could have been if Mariah sang One More Try in acapella. Could have been more emotional. I don't like the "Goodbye" 8 times or more during the bridge. I think it kinda took away the seriousness of the song. That's just me lambily.

I've only heard two songs and I love them equally. Faded is pop perfection and Cry. is a neo-soul classic. Most importantly, the songs sound fresh. They are a delight to hear. Can't wait for the rest.

Yes. I have the exact same list of favourites. And I agree with what you said the other day about videos as well, she needs some "Shake It Off" style videos. High budget, glossy and with a bit of a narrative.

Same here sister, same here. I like seeing everyone's post of what they like and don't like from the album and I got to say it really evened out on both side. I have my choices of songs I'm going to be adding to my phone and leaving the others just on my PC to take up storage space.

Reviews (44,068)
by Benjamin Fisher from United States
| |
|
|
Has anyone else noticed a pattern wherein, no matter what Mariah releases, certain reviewers/media outlets always give her the same so-so rating (3 stars out of 5 or "B")? And sometimes they give her great ratings for a so-so album. "E=MC2" got an A- from Entertainment Weekly. I really don't get it. Sometimes I wonder if they actually listen to the album, or maybe they just choose a rating based on the fact that it's a Mariah Carey album. Maybe people still don't like female artists who do things on their own terms?

Butterfly and Daydream mixed into one masterpiece (44,067)
by Bobby A from United States

This is album is a masterpiece. Mariah gave us everything we have been asking for. I am speechless. It was well worth the wait. My favorite songs are Cry., Faded, Dedicated, Make It Look Good, #Beautiful, You're Mine (Eternal), and You Don't Know What To Do. I love the texture in her voice these days. I like the way she switches that texture up with every song. Let's make this album number 1 next week. She deserves to be number 1. I am very pleased with this album. I love every track. MIAM is one her best albums in her career. I will be at Target at 8am Tuesday to buy my copy.

I think Mariah should do the WMAs with the new single, whatever song they may have chosen for it. In my opinion it should be YDKNWTD but then again, I still haven't heard any of the rest of the album. This should be followed by promo promo promo. Interviews and TV performances are essential for this era. It is the return of Mariah for the GP and hopefully will help the tour. The album has already had good reviews, but they can only do so much. I can't wait to hear the album so excited.

Money (44,063)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Wow this song really is catchy. Although it took me 3 listens (I skipped over the first 2 times mid way). I am in love with the chorus. Yes yes it's the clichéd money don't matter song but it sounds great. MC, Fab and HB did great. Faded is song I am obsessed with. It's so beautiful. I love it. Mariah really outdid her self this time around. I hope this album catapults her back to the top. She deserves it. Beyonce's hugely successful album (mainly due to the shock value) only had like about 5 good songs out of 17. Mariah's album is perfection. I can't wait to see her perform these and also very excited for what singles she chooses and music videos. I hope the videos are not along the same line as her recent ones. Someone please call Brett Ratner. Mariah said she has plans of releasing the lyrics in a different way. Wonder what she means.

I listened the whole album last night looking at the stars on the sky with a glass of Pepsi in my hand and a big chocolate (it's like a tradition that I do) and I feel so proud of her. Very proud. Faded, Supernatural, You Don't Know What To Do, One More Try, Thirsty, amazing. The whole album is just epic. Big shout out to all of you from Croatia.

Happy (44,060)
by Sasha from Nomansland

I wasn't expecting so much greatness. This album is like a soft caress to my ears. It's sweet, soulful and emotional. I've been waiting for songs like Cry, Camouflage, Make It Look Good, Faded for years and then it happened. All songs are good. I might be the only one who likes One More Try, actually in the original version I find difficult to distinguish the melody of the song and with this cover it's more clear to me. I also think that she will probably release another album within two years because she probably has a lot of new material under her sleeve.

"Money" and "One More Try" (44,059)
by Geronimo from USA
| |
|
|
I really like "One More Try" following "Money" because Mariah uses the cutest most innocent tone I've ever heard from her in those two songs. I am glad she doesn't use that tone in most of her songs because that would annoy me. But I appreciate this tone on those two songs because it matches the sentiment of both songs. At first I didn't love her rendition of One More Try because I thought she should have used a deeper, warmer tone. Now I think I get what she is trying to convey. Simply genius.

I kind of feel the same. Those 2 tracks are a mess. About Walter they didn't work. Sofia announced they were about to but then it didn't happen. Walter said he was asked by Randy to work with Mariah and he said yes. but that he didn't know what happened because the plan never materialized. Sure we all know what happened, maybe that's one of the reasons Randy got "fired", unless Walter and MC are the best on keeping it secret. I guess what Walter said on that radio interview is true: he'd really like to work with her but she doesn't feel the need. We all know pride and ego are big in our girl and I don't think she's giving up on her absurd idea that Walter is a traitor just because he wanted to keep his job. Anyway, it'd be a dream come true for me and to a lot of us - you know, we the haters - to have them reunite. Walter is the best and can do almost every single kind of music from Hero to So Blessed to To Be Around You to Do You Think Of Me to Savage Garden's Affirmation album. So saying Walter is a step back is ridiculous. His only sin seems to be white and to have given her her best songs. Love them together.

Re: Edward and Licia (44,057)
by Isabelle from USA

I'm not sure about she saved those songs for a different album. She did many songs during the Charmbracelet era like the Wedding song, Satisfy featuring Michael Jackson. I don't know if she actually worked with Walter, the way they ended things. Reasons why I think she is not going to use them for a later album is because she usually doesn't save material for another project. She only saved Close My Eyes since her Music Box era because she never finished it. She didn't save Heartbreaker for it to be release on the Glitter soundtrack. She chose to discard those songs due to the fact that the album started going to another direction. But I hope one day we will be able to listen to them. I know they started asking her questions that she has already answered in the past and her personal life. I really wanted to know why Save The Day didn't make in the album at all, she said it was going to be released as a charity song on the album, or the Beautiful dance remix or the remix video.

Track by track (44,056)

Cry - Loved the vocal climax at the end. The way she sang "Maybe I shoulda held on a little bit longer, but I was seduced by you." The power, the rasp, and emphasis on the word "by" is what soul singing is all about. You feel that line. Faded - My favorite ballad, very current and bass heavy, yet the lyrics are deep and the big vocals at the end with the multitude of Mariah's. Dedicated - Love this laid back track, and James Fauntleroy's backgrounds. Thirsty - Nice club song, still doesn't beat ILT. Make It Look Good - I wanted an old school track and I got it. Don't Know What To Do - Top notch, from the intro (minus Wale), the lyrics, the singing, and the beat. JD has been vindicated. Supernatural - The vocals when she raises the key at the end are so good. One of my favs. Meteorite - Hasn't had a song like this as an album track that wasn't a reprise or a remix. Experimental with a message for those here today gone tomorrow Meteorites. Madonna inspired, they need to duet this since they are both legends. Camouflage - The lyrics are very deep and give us a peak into Mariah's heart and soul in 2014 much like Looking In, Outside, and Petals. Money - The most experimental, it starts off with a smooth sung melodic verse, to a rap sung spare hook, to Fabs rap, to her ending the song with jazzy styled vocals. OMT - Too pretty sounding, I wish she used more soul on this one, and her vocals sound way to high at the end. Heavenly - Wished she would have wrote an original gospel number.
