Radaronline needs to be tied to a tree (40,398)
by nikki from usa

And then shot. Stick a fork in it, it's done. The number of inaccuracies in a single article is nothing short of embarrassing, if not flat out slander. Mariah never performed for the president in Angola, she sang for a retiring banker at the Bank's bash for 1.3 million because it was being sponsored by Unitel, a telephone company. She then sang for a charity sponsored by the Red Cross and even donated one of her dresses for the event. The Sultan of Brunei isn't a "dictator" as he inherited the country through hereditary succession as he is a part of the monarchy. A traditional monarchy does have that kind of control, like it or not. His policies may be brutal, but I bet the theft rates drop overnight. Brunei gives free education through university and has other benefits as well. There are pros and cons to everything.

My thoughts on a few things: Triumphant, the new album (40,397)
by David from Australia
| |
|
|
I'm glad to see some love for Triumphant. I love that song, except the second verse, in which MC should perhaps have had her own verse. I love her hip/hop stuff, as well as her more soulful stuff and I hope the album has a good mix of both. Another thing: there is nothing wrong with Mariah taking her time to release this album and making it perfect. Beyonceé's album really was nothing special. I agree with Linda Collins that there isn't much good mainstream music today. Most songs are geared towards the clubs and the quality of lyrics is missing. I could write better songs. Therefore, I would hate it if MC went down that dance route. I'm glad she does her own thing and I hope chart success doesn't bother her anymore. She should strive for it, but the most important thing is that the music comes from the heart and is timeless as opposed to just getting a number one. She has constantly delivered great music and I'm sure the new album is going to be something amazing whenever it's released. Her current catalog alone is more than enough to keep me satisfied. She works like a machine so I think she's entitled to have some time off or take it slow this time around.

Edward / Matthew (40,396)

Edward, I never believed for a second that the record company didn't know or have anything to do with it. That's another reason why it wouldn't work for Mariah. IDJ isn't doing much for her now. They would never take a risk like that on her. She would truly be doing it on her own. Matthew, if the farting had a bad ass remix, I might consider buying it. Lol.

Licia dear, are you implying that if Mariah did nothing but fart on the next album you wouldn't buy it? How dare you? Lol. The sad part is that I would probably buy it. Mariah's got me (like the song) for life I guess. Untill death do us part, through good albums and through bad. Lol. Anyway, I hear you Licia. I don't think Mariah should follow Beyonce either.

Licia / Wheat Beyoncé did (40,392)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Licia, I completely agree with you on that one. Beyoncé also made us believe that she was releasing her album this way because her record label didn't think she had any potential singles on the album. Well, the truth is this move was completely choreographed and backed up by her record label. Many other artist have done just that, but by not announcing it before hand, Beyoncé created a huge buzz, and curiosity killed the cat. People who didn't even like her music were buying the album just to know what it was all about. Another thing, Beyoncé included 15 videos, and people were forced to buy the whole album because the songs/videos were not released individually at first. So, it was like the old days when you bought an album for maybe one or two songs, or you wouldn't have them at all. Her move was a smart one, but I don't think it would necessarily work for Mariah. Beyoncé is way more popular than Mariah now, and that's a fact. I hope her new single is a collaboration with a hot artist, and then release the album.

What Beyonce did (40,389)
by Licia from USA
| |
|
|
I'm so sick of seeing "Mariah should do what Beyonce did." I honestly don't think that will work for Mariah. So what happens if Mariah does this and you all listen to the snippets and it's full of hip hop songs? Will you buy it? I doubt it because most of you complain about that. What if she releases content exactly like what Beyonce released? I doubt any of you want to hear Mariah Carey singing about putting her ass on anything or her telling Nick to come get this cherry. Beyonce has a fanbase that will buy her music even if all she's doing is farting on each track. Mariah does not have that. There are a few who will buy it, but a majority will not (myself included). What Beyonce did was a good marketing move for her and it worked for her. There have been plenty of acts that have released music just to iTunes. Beyonce wasn't the first. It just worked better for her. You all need to consider all the factors before saying what she needs to do because it may not work for Mariah.

Triumphant / Almost Home (40,388)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I know many lambs don't really like Triumphant, but I like it a lot. Yes it sounds like Mariah is a featured artist on her own track, but her parts were nice and breezy. It's not her great piece of work, but it is fine. I also like the Vintage Remix. Don't care much for the other 3 remixes. Almost Home was such a beautiful song. With proper promos I think it would have done good. But a lot of people now probably don't even know about it.

I totally feel every word you said and couldn't agree more. I mean I don't think people really realize how hard Mariah has worked over the years. she ishuman. I think people often forget how many countless nights she stayed up until 6-7 a.m to fine tune a melody or lyrics or whatever. Mariah is the greatest selling female artist ever, and just because she isn't quite successful as her dominance when she was younger some people lose their minds. Shame on them. And she's a mother of a family now just to add to the stress. At least she still puts out meaningful music still today, unlike the "trendy" artists that "sing" about doing lines of cocaine in the bathroom and being naked on a ball licking a shovel (Miley). It's pitiful what kids have to listen to these days. And that's coming from a 21 year old. Yes I was born in 1992, but now am one of Mariah's biggest fans because she's simply the best.

Hello (40,385)
by B from USA

I'll always support Mariah. I hated Triumphant but I loved Almost Home and #Beautiful. I enjoyed The Art Of Letting Go but the lyrics were underwhelming. I hope she worked with Happy Perez on at least one or two songs. She still has the best voice in music. She will have a hit. That's why she postponed the album so that she could write a couple songs that will be strong singles. She's smart and talented and JD isn't a yes man.

Just saying (40,384)
by clueey23 from USA

MC is an artist. She doesn't move with the times and trends. She creates trends and moves the times. I was happy to have a single without an 808 drum beat. It's been years since an artist has released a song without the 808.

Really (40,383)
by Blake from USA
| |
|

Lashonda, you said a mouth full, but it was a little harsh with ending on pow. Really! Yes, we all know what you are saying with her age and being a mom. You didn't provide anything new darling. George nailed it on the head though. Another single really? Just release the album. Unless she worked with Teddy Redder, it's not likely to be a hit and Mariah's team is clueless. Jus saying. If this album gets pushed back once again, I am done with the thought of it coming out. If only Mariah could reinvent and accomplish what Beyonce did but in a new way. Then we use pow.

New album (40,382)
by George Golden from UK
| |
|
|
Another single? Please. What happens then if it is not well received? She then abandons it and everyone throws a tantrum. Mariah should move with the times and realise that her name alone will not sell a song. She needs to reinvent herself and that's the beauty of rnb, you can have it mixed with rock, jazz, funk, dance. That's right, dance music. She should revamp her image and create a stir. New hairstyle, new stylist, new management and not employ her friends because it is really bad for her business obviously. I don't understand those fans that say all is well when it clearly isn't. If we as fans do not see this, then there is a problem. You can keep doing the same thing and expect a different result. Just drop the album. No more upfront singles, no more over the top "trying to be sexy" videos. It's really dead and gone at this piont.

Give it a rest (40,381)

I rarely post here like I did years ago. However I do visit almost everyday and check the news. The messageboard is something I dread looking at now. Webmaster, I hope you post this without editing. The majority of you are just being selfish and ungreatful. The days of Mariah dropping an album every 2-3 years is over. Hush up and just enjoy the catalouge of music that she has left us because it's 23 years worth and it's alot. She has worked like nobody's business to keep you all satisfied, but you can't beat Father Time, he always wins. Mariah has a family now. Any mother will tell you if they are doing their jobs correctly that family comes first. You guys constantly nag/complain about the quality of her voice. Well guess what? She's not 19 anymore. Getting older/changing/aging are all real factors, yes even for her. She's put out four or five singles to feed her hungry extended family (lambs) over the past year and you guys complained about that. The quality of her voice is always a big topic. Well, she wore those pipes out for you for the past quarter of a century. Not for nothing but I think her body of work should be praised. She ages backwards, she gets better with time and the voice is still there. For the really young folk on here, rack up on all the music and I promise you it's enough to keep you happy for the rest of your life. Peace. Pow.

Fans' support (40,380)

We all love Mariah. She gave us 3 different types of ballads that true fans want to hear: Almost Home, The Art Of Letting Go, and Bring It On Home. Have we supported her enough? The YouTubes views and the singles' sales are low compared to other artists.

New album (40,378)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
I am excited that she is finally releasing her new album and we are getting a new song on V day, hopefully a love song/ballad. I'm hoping we are going to get jazz/soul styled ballads and hip/hop uptempos. I can't wait to see if she covered Lullaby Of Birdland, if her impromptu performance at Bemelmans Bar in 2012 is any indication, she is going to bring it! She took her time and even took advantage of the time her injury granted her and added three new songs. I'm positive this album is going to satisfy what I've been waiting for a long time. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Bill / NYE performance (40,377)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Bill, the NYE performance wasn't lipped, but it was dubbed. I loved it though. I loved the way the songs transitioned in the medley, way more polished than American Idol performance. As for TAOLG, she left a verse out, it is not the fist time she's done it. I also think she didn't want to be overdramatic on a celebration night. Some people don't notice the dubbing because Mariah doesn't enhanced the recording to sound perfect, she polishes it just enough. The Fantasy at Madison Squared Garden was completly dubbed, even though I don't know why, since she sounded amazing that night. I didn't want to believe it until I found the raw recording on the YouTube.

Happy New Year to each and every one of you. I hope it brings you peace and happiness. It's nice to read the comments about Mariah's performance of TAOLG on NYE but, forgive me, but wasn't this performance lipped? I don't believe this was 100% live.

Dav / new album tracklist (40,375)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |

Dav, maybe you haven't noticed but many people on the board did talk about the NYE performance and everyone praised her vocals. Wasn't there a track list circulating for TAOLG? Although it could be fake, but the songs TAOLG and a duet with Stevie was listed on it. Although now Mariah maybe have replaced some of those tracks with newer songs. 14th February, I can't wait! Also I hope the album follows soon after.

I was just watching this show, Property Virgins on TV, where Matthew (a big time Mariah fan, probably a lamb) and Maurie were buying an apartment in Toronto. Anyway, his love for Mariah was so cute! Out loud and proud. I sometimes hide my love for MC, thinking that I'm too old for this, but it reminded me that I should not care.

The weather (40,373)
by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
| |
|
|
She also sung a much slower song, took her time, had proper breath control, and was more prepared. She never said the weather was the "only" factor that affected her voice (in which if you don't take necessary precautions it can affect your voice), but I also cited many other factor aswell, and also mentioned when she's properly rested and recuperated that she can still give a great performance. So you still can't say the weather, tempo, breath control, and fragility of her voice had nothing to do with that performance being bad. Nevertheless I'm glad she preserved this go round. Great job Mimi!

Cold weather and Mariah's voice (40,372)
by Lee from UK
| |
|

I find it fascinating that even though it looked a lot colder during her NYE performance than it did during the National Tree Lighting Ceremony, Mariah's voice managed to prevail and sound just find. What I am trying to say is a big fat "I told you so" to all of those people on here who cited the "cold weather" as a reason for Mariah sounding crap during the Tree Lighting. Mariah doesn't need your unfounded excuses.
