Why? (36,412) by nikki from usa
I don't get this. I agree with Natalie, I think this is a publicity stunt. Clearly that video person wasn't supposed to be there because the audio is crappier than the footage. Where in the world did TMZ get a transcript? You certainly couldn't tell all that from the audio, it's guessing at best. TMZ has been trying to make catfights since before they ever met up for panel. If any part of the transcript is true, then Nicki flew off the handle, because MC keeps bringing up her "resume". Well, that's a fact, Mariah has an impressive resume, one that Nicki used to look up to. Not to mention MC was the first to introduce Nicki to the world with her music video before NM ever debuted. If MC has to bring up her "resume", one can only assume that Nicki isn't giving MC respect for her opinions. If this wasn't staged, then that was a pretty big tantrum for someone who's only been out 3 years.

Mariah and Minaj (36,411) by Anonymous from
I believe this whole sorted afffair is nothing more than a publicity stunt designed to stir interest in a show that's been waning in popularity and in the the ratings game for years. Mariah's a business woman and she knows how to garner publicity. Everyone else involved in the show's been around long enough to know how to get the public's attention. Showbiz people love to wind us up and squeal with delight when we all go crazy over them. Mariah's not immune to this behavior either, so don't get on me. I love her, always have, always will, but let's face it. She been playing games with us Lambs for years and obviously we love it or we wouldn't be Lambs. It's part of being a fan of hers. So I say instead of getting on the various players in this soap opera, sit back and enjoy the entertainment they are providing us. What the heck, it's free. Enjoy the day everyone.

Oh man, I almost forgot. Daydream is my favorite MC album. So classic. So timeless. So amazing.

Get rid of Minaj (36,409) by Stacey from USA
Honestly, they need to get rid of Minaj. Period.

On a positive note: (36,408) by Geezy from USA by way of NYC
Today is the 17th anniversary of one of the greatest pop records ever: Daydream. As for that situation, it seems like this is what the media wanted and that's what they got. Personally, money can buy a lot of things, but it can't buy class.

Nicki is responsible for her own out of control behavior. And if any "normal" person snapped like that at work, they'd be fired. And we don't know what MC said or didn't say, all we really hear is what Nicki barked out. I do believe Idol and Fox are responsible for this "leak" and all for press. They need to clean this up.

Death threats and violent language (36,406) by Fady from Lebanon
I'm really disgusted by Nicki Minaj's behavior. Yes, she is doing well on the charts now, but she has no legitimacy to judge musical talent. So what if Mariah did talk about her "resume" (which is impressive and something to call upon)? Some people are saying Mariah "provoked" this unacceptable reaction. But this is all on Nicki Minaj and her choice of words and behavior. I am simply disgusted. And I hope Mariah remains above this pettiness.

Nicki Minaj (36,405) by John from USA
This girl is bat sh#%t crazy. She's been out for a few years, yet I can't name a single one of her songs. The way she was just cursing and screaming non-stop in the video was just insane. I wish I knew why AI hired her - she's not a singer, she's a rapper, and still very new to the scene. I don't know what Mariah said or did behind the scenes to provoke this, but I think she handled herself well in the video (she wasn't being a pig and cursing uncontrollaby like Minaj). Hey, if nothing else, it's at least some publicity for Mariah to keep her name alive. Lord knows her latest single (if you can call it that) is lost on the charts and ain't doing it lol.

Mariah vs Nicki (36,404) by Desiree from USA
I like Mariah Carey, but at the same time if you keep pushing someone's buttons, they bound to just push back and Mariah got cursed out.

I'm not sure what that was, but Nicki is unstable and she needs to go. Idol screwed up this whole process by hiring her in the first place. They have created an absurd mess and it will be interesting to see how they fix this mess.

I see it this way (36,402) by Lee from USA
How did a female rapper with little competition became a judge anyways? I am tired of being spoon-fed this bullmess about Minaj being the "queen of hip-hop" when she is the only female rapper in the game. All of her "rivals" are either going to jail, getting out of jail, or just irrelevant.

Edward and Desiree (36,401) by John from USA
I couldn't agree with you guys more. Mariah has completely lost her way; her projects and musical direction have been extremely unfocused since TEOM, and she is surrounded by awful management. I hope she has something up her sleeve. E=MC2 was great, but had no promotion after TMB. MOAIA came out too soon after, and was overshadowed by Precious (and it had no real viable singles after Obsessed), and the main version of Triumphant is just awful, probably her worst lead single ever. I agree Edward, Mariah is in no position to bring R&B back. She is no longer a "can do no wrong" artist and now has to deal with the "over 40" stigma (which is unfair, but true). This is why I wish she put more into E=MC2; she looked hot during that era, the album had endless singles, the public was on her side after TEOM, etc. Like Edward said, I know she'll always have her fans and is a legend, but after a certain amount of flops (waves at Janet Jackson), the public/radio just basically completely drop you. I feel like Mariah is so stubborn and hellbent on proving she is an R&B/Hip-hop artist and goes out of her way to deny her pop roots. I just wish she'd give the fans and general public what they want - catchy, upbeat songs with undeniable hooks and strong full-voice vocals, and no freaking rappers. But I'm not holding my breath. If she wants to give up chasing the Beatles and getting decent album sales (and lose even me, a dedicated lamb, as a fan), then that's fine.

Nicki / Mariah (36,400) by CDC from CA
This is exactly why many were opposed to this American Idol gig. That scene looked like something out of a Real Housewives reunion program. Be it a stunt or not, both women represented themselves poorly. I hope Mariah gets all the promotion she needs/wants for her new album and walks. I don't think anybody should endure embarrassment and notoriety for short term achievements. And Iif the "threat" turns out to be true, then the execs need to reformat or reshuffle the panel. When all the craziness settles, American Idol is still a workplace. "Threats" in said environment should not be taken lightly. I work in an office surrounded by several colleagues. If one were to ever demonstrate the behaviour such as that of Nicki Minaj in the TMZ video, he or she would be fired.

Publicity stunt (36,399) by Nattalie from USA
I honestly don't believe this. I really don't like it. I really would have to be there myself to actually believe it. I think American Idol needs views and a reason to watch and they are giving us a good reason to. All they are doing is judging people, not making an album. There is nothing hard about judging someone. If someone that can't sing such as Ellen can do this job smoothly, then anyone can. I just don't believe the fight. Who makes a song with someone and then fights 2 years later about it. Unless deep down inside Mariah thought Niki's rap lyrics sucked, which I thought they did.

To Desiree / I completely agree (36,398) by Edward from USA
I don't think Mariah is in any position to save the dying R&B genre. If she were hot like in the 90's when she could do no wrong, it would be a different situation. Memoirs had some good R&B tracks on it (BGK, IAR, TI, AC) but people were not feeling her on that. She has her fans, her lambs and the people who would buy her music when it's catchy, melodic and fun. I do think that a Jazz album should be a side project like her second Christmas album just in case it doesn't perform. Every time one of her albums doesn't perform, it's a dent in her music carrier, considering that she's in her 40's and America doesn't care much for female artists once they hit the four decade mark. I hope Mariah balances things out with this new release since it could make her or break her, just like Janet (Damita Jo, 20 Y.O., Discipline). Many people would say: Oh, it doesn't matter, she's a legend. But if Mariah doesn't have a certain level of success, we won't be hearing from her much in the future. She should go back to basics: pop, pop with R&B infusions, and make it about the voice.

Minaj betta watch herself (36,397) by Brad from USA
Hi lambs. This isn't intended to be disrespectful, but self-proclaimed "at times mentally unstable" Nicki Minaj better keep herself in check and not curse out our Mariah or us lambs will take action and bring her clown like antics to a commercial end. Her "career" can be ruined in an instant. It'll take no longer than its already lasted. Grow up and be a professional, Minaj. You wanna sit with the big boys and get paid like one, then know when to keep your mouth in check. "Hey you in the wig out, drop the ego." Don't make MC have to record "Clown, the Redux". Peace.

Rehab (36,396) by KevKev from USA
I was recently released from court ordered rehab that I spent the last year in, ugh. They don't allow CD's or access to tv either. Everytime I went to work, I pulled up Mariah via YouTube. Everyone always argues on how this needs to be done, or that but, at the end of the day, when you're stuck in a dark period, any one of her songs will pull you through, I know it did me. That place was hell. Although I did get treatment. They all laughed when I mentioned my biggest motivation to change is Mariah lol. Just a thought to share. Oh, and stay away from drugs lol.

Desiree (36,395) by RibbonB from USA
Lol. I don't care if you have a different opinion. My post also didn't say what she needs to do, because frankly anything can be successful. I also said a specialty cd is a viable creative outlet and they too can be profitable. Mariah has done two Christmas cd's, so there is room for a jazz or gospel cd. My post wasn't about sales, although I do believe that a quality specialty project will do well. If MC wants to do "pop", she will, if she doesn't, she won't. The same with any other genre.

To RibbonB (36,394) by Desiree from USA
I'm not trying to come off rude, but let's be honest. Mariah needs to change her direction in music, because pop music is where it is.

Jazz CD (36,393) by Stacey from USA
I would love for MC to work with Quincy Jones at some point. One of my all-time favorite jazz CDs is Q's Jook Joint. There is a song on there written by Rod Tempterton, sung by Tamia, called "You Put A Move On My Heart" that is just amazing. Check it out if you don't have it on your playlist. Great CD. It features Brandy, the late Heavy D, Herbie Handcock, etc.

Tony Bennett (36,392) by RibbonB from USA
I just read that Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga are planning to do a whole jazz cd together, ASAP. There certainly is nothing wrong with doing a specialty record. It's a viable creative move. I didn't care for their duet on his last cd though. As for Lady Gaga though, I'm not surprised she is switching up her monster schtick. Her jazz singing style isn't great, but it might work for the two of them. If MC ever does a jazz cd, I hope it's with Quincy Jones for an old school feel with standards, or a modern adult contemporary take with some of the younger jazz musicians, using original songs.

VHS Mariah appearances (36,390) by Karen Moran from USA
I have about 23 VHS recordings of Mariah appearances and performances from about 1996 to 2005. There are so many different interviews and videos on them I can't begin to list them all. If anyone is interested, please let me know. I just want these to go to someone who truely appreciates watching them as much as I did.

Bad move (36,388) by lashonda collins from usa
You don't put a catalyst/queen like Mariah on the same panel as an amateur with a big ego like Nicki. I like Nicki, but I've seen far too many interviews where she does not display any humility, she's not humble when it comes to her predecessors. Honestly, Mariah should have that show to herself. Lol. I'm not saying that Mariah doesn't have an ego too. However, she has worked extremley hard and she's a living legend. Nicki has a problem with every female that was there before her, I've noticed this. I hope she's not giving Mimi too much of a hard time. A note to Nicki if you are reading this, you were not the first and you definitley will not be the last.
