Yesterday's performances - NFL (36,283) by SC from USA
Hi guys. So I was there yesterday listening to the whole thing and I have to say that the first 3 songs (TMB, ABMB, and WBT) were great, especially WBT, as she belted out the last note incredibly. I was recording the whole thing and I wasn't standing really close from the stage, but I thought the red umbrella thing was actually funny. I gotta say that when Triumphant came out, I started recording the song, but because I wasn't able to see the background video from where I was standing, I actually stopped recording it as I didn't see Mariah coming out. Well folks, as we all know at this point, it was actually the real performance without her even on stage for the first couple of minutes. I'm sorry, but this is the lead single of her comeback to music after a while. Is this how you want to show yourself to the fans and world? None of it made sense to me and I was very upset after the performance. At the end, it was also rushed and she didn't even say goodbye properly. We need to see better performances. MC, lets get Jamie King.

The other performances (36,282) by Geezy from USA by way of NYC
After expressing dismay for the triumphant performance, I will say I truly enjoyed the other showings which proves to me Mariah still has it and knows how to use it when need be. I haven't lost total faith in our girl, I still think she has some tricks up her sleeve. I also noticed a little more confidence when performing the older material. I guess that comes from being comfortable with performing these songs on a regular basis. I guess Triumphant will be same in due time. I can't wait to hear all the happenings of the BMI awards. Word is Fantasia is tributing MC with Hero. Once again, congratulations MC on this well deserved honor.

Live performances (36,281) by John from USA
I feel like I would be slightly better at dealing with her volatile live performances if she wasn't putting out crap songs like Triumphant. I'm sorry, even given the remixes (which are significantly better), I just can't get into the song, nor does it make me excited for the upcoming era. I'm still very against her doing American Idol. I feel like now that Christina is on The Voice (which is hot right now) and Britney is on X-Factor (will also be hot, solely because of Britney), she's going to be seen as the "has been who is on the has been vocal talent show". I dunno. I'm really bracing myself for 2013. I feel like ever since TEOM came out and shut up (even if only temporarily) all the nay-sayers, she feels like she has nothing left to prove, and is just doing what she wants. If she doesn't care about having anymore hits (even top 10 radio hits would make me happy now), that's totally fine, she can become like Celine (still profitable, but no radio hits). But assuming she is going after the Beatles, I just don't think she has the necessary drive or focus right now to have another number 1, let alone a smash era. Look at E=MC2. Missed opportunity for an epic era right there. I feel like time is running out for her to have another really big era, because we all know the horrible age-ism in the music business. She's not that old, but she aint getting any younger.

Oh please, people (36,280) by Will from England
Ok, so Mariah had a bad vocal moment. What's new about that? She had rehearsed in the rain, and got a cold from that. Did she cancel? No. Did she lip the whole thing? No. Did she try and put on the best show that she could? Yes. I think she did the right thing and waited till Rick Ross' verse had somewhat finished before making a grand entrance, otherwise she would have just been standing there, doing nothing and really looking like a featured artist then. She made sure that she was the center of attention by only having herself on the middle stage, and left the other two out of the way. Look, her voice hasn't gone. True, it isn't what it used to be, but again, what's new about that? She did fantastic live versions of IWTKWLI, her Christmas album showed off her belting range, something that she thought she couldn't do (as she said during an interview about WDTBRFM?) and are people already forgetting the first mini concert that she did, only a couple of months ago? Yes, it's less reliable than it once was, but give her a break. Like H.A.T.E.U, Triumphant is a difficult song to sing like, because of all the changes she has to do (from belting to whisper), but hopefully she's learnt and will adapt, like she has done with her other songs. If she has to lip certain parts, then it would be because there is no other way to do it. Mariah herself said during TAOM tour, that her songs are difficult to sing. Let's cut her a break here, shall we?

NFL performance/MC Jazz singer (36,279) by RibbonB from USA
I loved WBT and ABMB on YouTube. Mariah's voice is still great. I loved her entrance to Triumphant, but that is a tricky song to do live on TV. Rick Ross looked a hot mess sitting in that gaudy chair and Meek Mill sounded washed out. It wasn't a bad song to do in a sports environment and actually came accross a bit better on TV, than it did on YouTube. In good news, Mariah sang some Jazz tunes at the legendary Carlyle hotel after the NFL show. People said she sounded great. I think Randy maybe campaigning for her to finally do that jazz cd.

Trainwreck (36,278) by Davey J from USA
The NFL spectacle was horrendous. The video montage was self-deprecating and not really funny or entertaining. When she came on, she was barely audible and the song just sounded all over the place. She has so much background vocals and noise going on, you can't distinguish her actual live singing. The dancers surrounding her were pretty awful and the entire scene reminded me of the scene in Glitter when they are filming the music video and the dancers were awkwardly prancing around her and getting in her way. Honestly, the whole time I was watching it I was making a Home Alone face.

Bad song is death sentence? Really? (36,277) by Lee from USA
All of these other old-school artists (and hall of famers) put out worse songs than that and nobody is writing or saying anything. Yet one bad song from Mimi is an automatic death sentence. Really? Compared to all of the drug addictions, cheating scandals, and criminal acts, our girl is in good shape. I have no respect for Twitter comments because they change from negative to positive on a drop of a hat.

Wasn't exactly stellar, but not as bad as some of y'all made it out to be.

ABMB/WBT/TMB (36,275) by Licia from USA
I just watched the other 3 performances and she sounded really good. Wish she could have brought some of that to the Triumphant performance. The ABMB set is my favorite.

NFL performance (36,274) by Edward from USA
Since "Triumphant" has had mostly negative reviews, I thought Mariah would step it up a bit and jump from the original to at least part of the Throwback Remix, as she used to do when singing "My All", but it never happened. If she really wanted to bring attention to the single, that was her opportunity. She was on the stage with just a featured lil part and still couldn't deliver. You can clearly hear her background singers harmonizing better than you can hear her. I hope Mariah doesn't get to the point Whitney was, where people were walking out of her concerts in disappointment. The woman that sounded live as if you were listening to a cd is not there anymore. Sometimes she may sound good, but that's it. Has she become a studio artist? I'm afraid so. I'm sad because she is supposed to be the Last Diva Standing. I'll stick to the studio recordings. At this point, she should stop trying to resuscitate "Triumphant", scrape it off, and get a new fresh song ready for early January.

NFL performance (36,273) by Lee from UK
I think Mariah did the best she could with a mediocre song. Yes, she looked good, no she didn't sound great. The high notes at the end were nice, but they weren't enough to save the performance. I heard more of her backing singers than I did of Mariah. The best bits for me were the videos of her getting ready before even making it to the stage. And on that note, you can't have this giant build up to your entrance and then deliver a weak performance once you get there

Mariah's NFL kickoff performance (36,272) by Stella from Greece
Sorry, this wasn't one of her best performances to put it lighty. I mostly blame the quality of the song itself, it just doesn't translate well live. Not only does it not feature much of Mariah, but when featured her vocals sound buried below layers and layers thus making it even harder for her to sing live. Even worse, it seemed like there where technical difficulties because I felt like Mariah couldn't hear herself or something. Her voice sounded pretty tired tonight too, but I'll excuse her because every singer has on and off days. And when Mariah is on, she blows everyone out of the water. On a more positive note, she looked ravishing. Anywho, the sooner this Triumphant "single" dies down the better. Mariah, move on to something fresh and exciting I know you have it in you. Love.

The performance (36,271) by Randy from USA
It was better than I expected. Her falsetto wasn't shaky and flat and she sang in full voice in some parts and it wasn't lipped. However if you want to compare this to 1995 Daydream at Madison Square or even 1997 Butterfly/My All @ SNL. This is a sad fall from grace and what makes me laugh hysterically: some fans still say the voice hasn't changed because she can still do whistle notes. I miss the days where she refused to do them because she didn't want them to be a gimmick. Now they're her saving grace to the argument 'she's still got it".

General thoughts (36,270) by CDC from CA
I left a comment on here a few months ago, the content I won't bother repeating. I've since distanced myself from fan websites and other such media, but as many of you might feel, it's hard to quit something that has been so familiar to you for years and years. That said, I sat back, refraining from the usual support I've extended in the past. Deep down, I hoped that there would be "something" that would reignite the spark of interest I had in Mariah's projects. The new single did absolutely nothing for me, and more recently, the live performance only worsened my opinion of Mariah and the song. There is no conceivable way I can be constructive, so I'd rather politely omit any further details of my thoughts on the disappointing performance. I just noticed that Mariah's name was trending on twitter, but the overwhelmingly negative responses from twitter users were disheartening to read. I can't help but think that this is only a foreshadowing of Mariah's tenure as an American Idol judge. I stuck by through the dark and gloomy Glitter years because it was clear that she had true respect for the craft. With her recent projects (HSN, American Idol, new song, etc.) I don't feel her intentions are in the right place.

The performance was less then triumphant, period.

NFL live performance (36,268) by M from USA
Did anyone see more than the Triumphant Get 'Em performance? I saw the Queen Latifa mess of the national anthem. Love her but not for her vocals. More rap.

Nfl kick off (36,267) by Licia from USA
The performance was pretty good, despite Triumphant not being a great song. I hope the other performances get shown eventually.

NFL performance (36,266) by Brad from USA
Hi lambs. Hope you all are living well. So the NFL performance. Well the positive part is that no one likely saw it so it can be tossed aside and forgotten. Bad part? The voice just was not there. Her singing was spotty, at best. The video montage aforehand reflected her willingness to turn herself into a caricature. In 1990 I might have fallen in love with an image, but there was a voice front and center. Now we are seemingly left with all the trappings of a star who won't or can't use the device that put her in that position in the first place. I'm the most loyal of lambs but all we really want is to hear her voice. If she can't do that or won't, well then we will have to move forward and just remember fondly. But this sort of performance and song must stop. One way or another. Be well. Love ya, appreciate ya and enjoy ya. BTW, some of y'all are really cute! Nice pics. Hehe.

Cover/duet (36,264) by Paul from Usa
I have always thought Mariah would do a fantastic job at Unchained Melody by the Rightious Brothers. I hope Mariah would take advantage of sharing the stage with No Doubt! Who doesn't love No Doubt? People are easily attracted to Gwen Stefani and it would be an interesting combination. What do you all think?

Pre show/tabloids (36,262) by RibbonB from USA
I hear Mariah will only be performing one song on air and that will likely be Triumphant. I hope it's a good performance. 've also read on twitter that her dancers are in town practicing. As far as tabloids, that's all they do are start mess. There will be tons of dumb stories next year when she is on Idol. Feuds on set, diva demands etc, etc, etc. Truth and tabloids rarely equates.

Lee (36,261) by Jenny from South Africa
Don't stress about the tabloids. Nick already tweeted and laughed that nonsense off. I don't think MC or Nick take tabloids seriously at all ever. Lol. In regards to NFL, I also think it should be majority uptempo. I would like to hear Emotions. I think it qualifies as uptempo?

She should sing whatever she deems best (36,260) by Lee from USA
If she sound great, then that's all that matters. And another thing, why are the tabloids trying to break up her happy marriage?

Uptempos (36,259) by Guido Raphael from Paraguay
I have to agree with the uptempos comment. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Mariah's ballads. Nobody can call themselves fans or lambs and don't like her ballads. But in these times and days, only Adele can get away with ballads. And it's true about the type of event. She needs to do uptempos or some of her best remixed versions of her ballads. P.S.: Eric, I loved the new changes. Nice job!

NFL setlist (36,258) by Licia from USA
If she goes by what people are requesting, we will only get Triumphant and the rest ballads. I haven't seen anyone on twitter request alot of uptempo songs. The fans/lambs (whatever lol) don't seem to be thinking about the type of event it is when they request songs.
