Re: Slipping Away on IG (93,033) (93,036)

I wish Slipping Away was released on the B-side of the ABMB 12inch. I would love for MC to release all of her Columbia B-sides, bonus tracks, and Do You Know Where You Are Going To on a special vinyl EP. There are only about 5 songs that I am referencing, right? 1. Everything Fades Away 2. Do You Think Of Me 3. Slipping Away 4. Do You Know Where You Are Going To 5. Dreamlover (Club Joint Remix)

No, it is not. #Beautiful is not perfection. It's about two minutes too short and Mariah sounds like a featured artist on her own track. It's good. But it's not the one. And it has a hashtag. It could have been an absolute smash. It had all the hallmarks. But it seems initially bold then lacking in any sort of confidence.

Stranded on Gran Canaria (93,031)
by TJ from Norway
| |
|
|
Due to a sandstorm this weekend I'm stranded on Gran Canaria. Today I've heard 10 songs by Mariah on the speakers in the bar. They just played Vision of Love really loud. I just might to have to stay here for a little longer than necessary.

#Beautiful was and still is pop perfection. The video was a bit of a let-down though.

#Beautiful should have been the 19th (93,027)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia

I always feel like a big lost that #Beautiful did not become the 19th No 1. In 2013, Mariah was at her beauty peak, body peak, fashion peak, and American Idol did help her to remain popular as ever. The song itself was catchy and fun and became instant favorite to every radio station and online streaming. Such a waste.

I've been playing that a lot lately, as well. The original version by Val Young is also classic. I would say "8th Grade" is constantly on rotation on my mind, while I jam to "In the Mix" daily.

Yes, it was Crybaby. Sony didn't want to go with another ballad after Thank God I Found You and Against All Odds. They relented somewhat and released a double-a side single, but then (according to Mariah) didn't promote it. It's odd because CTTA was much more in the vein of Classic Mariah than Crybaby, so you would have thought it would have been the other way round.

Very nice. The justice for Slipping Away hashtag. I hope this means it will appear on the 25th anniversary edition of the Daydream album, along with one of the European tour dates on DVD. Europe was always way better than the Tokyo dates in my opinion.

What Mariah song is everyone addicted to at the moment? I can't get enough of "If You Should Ever Be Lonely" in the Heartbreaker remix, I'd love her to release that as a stand-alone song

The record company wanted X Girlfriend as the summer single for 2000. They wanted an uptempo song and that song's beat and music was the trend of that time. With combined budget of Can't Take That Away and Crybaby video, I guarantee that X Girlfriend would have a great video, maybe Bianca would make her second appearance as well. Sony would definitely promote the song and it would become her 16 number one.

It was "Crybaby". They ended up making it a double A side single, but when it charted, only "Crybaby" was listed as the title (with the exception of the Dance Club Song Play Chart, where remixes of CTTA were released).

I can't remember if I've asked this before. Mariah wanted to release Can't Take That Away, but the record company did not and they fought. What song did they want to release instead?
