Caution tracks (88,006)
by Brad from USA

Hi. I hope everyone is being good to themselves and others. I have to generally agree that I think there are some strong tracks on Caution, though I am not certain that "A No No" is strongest among them. I do like "A No No", but don't care for the "bridge" to the song frankly and most enjoy it toward the end when the chorus of no's comes in along with the "translations". I do tend to think "The Distance" is the strongest potential single, followed by "Caution" and "Stay Long Love You" The latter due to its catchy "You make make me wanna" refrain. If we are going down the road of releasing singles that we know won't do much commercially but will show the artistry and strong, clear singing of the album then let's please release my favorite track "8th Grade" since I am already telling people around me "I'm not your world, I'm not your life". Anyhow, just my two cents. Is anyone here going to the Caution stop in Wallingford, CT? Thanks and be well.

Why don't Mariah's team reach out to Ariana's team and do some kind of collab or special duet or whatever they can do together? Or how about Halsey or Ava Max? I had thought Cardi B collab will happen but frankly that possibility is starting to look bleak. Why is Mariah unable to reach out to these artists now the way legends extended to her when Mariah was at the top? What Mariah did to Aretha, Patty Labelle, Luther Vandross etc is open them to a new generation of listeners. Especially with her status in the industry, something is very wrong in this equation.

Caution deserves to be nominated next year, it is one of the best albums recently and it has received some of Mariah's best reviews. And if Mariah and her team put some effort in properly promoting it, properly being the key word here, then it can still find a lot of audience and gain new fans. Its a fantastic album, too bad it seems Mariah don't know how to promote it.

Jennifer Lopez has a lot of things going on, movies, tv series, and these high profile awards gigs because she puts effort into it. Mariah just releases, tours every now and then and that is it. These performances, they require planning, they practice with dancers, choreographers create a cool presentation, they even plan how they meet on stage with the other artists and Obama, chat and get along with them. There's a lot that goes with it that Mariah either don't know how to do or not interested in doing. Her act now is literally just showing up and get paid. She's a massive talent obviously but she doesn't seem to have people skills and that is why she's starting to become a legacy act. They always drag Jennifer but I admire her for putting an effort in everything she does. Plus she looks great, for whatever age now she takes care of herself. So what if she's not a good singer. She at least puts on a show. Mariah can't even do both, that is, sing well and put on a show. She sings well every now and then, but lets be honest, she's lipping or use backing tracks. But even worse, the production of Mariah's shows look cheap. JLo has a better chance of having a second or third act ala Cher or Madonna when they were in their 50s than Mariah. Mariah seem to have embraced her current situation and doesn't put much effort anymore. I'm just being honest.

The album is Mimi's best in a long time and one of her most acclaimed. But none of these songs has any potential whatsoever to be a hit unless she remix with a featured artist, and a good remix it should be. That is just the truth.

I love Giving Me Life. Caution too. Both songs sound so different. I don't know how to explain it, lol. Both songs incorporate such hauntingly beautiful arrangements.

MoTown tribute (87,999)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
| |

|
The MoTown tribute was a JLo Vegas show using MoTown music. Honestly that tribute was a mess and whoever thought that this was a brilliant idea was totally wrong. Smokey was just to be up there on stage to get a feel on JLo, because he and Neyo served no purpose other than being cheerleaders for JLo. This performance was a slap in the face to the elegance, grace, and greatness that is the history of MoTown. JLo's lane is showgirl but without the bells and whistles her act is very basic.

Mariah's album "Caution" did not make it in time before cut off and therefore is eligible for consideration next year. GTFO was released in time and was ignored. Hopefully A No No will receive some commercial success and if it does, who knows what could happen next. Incidentally, I was at a boystown bar here in Chicago and they played GTFO. You know I was smiling huge.

Caution will be nominated for Best R&B Album however she'll most likely be snubbed again by the Academy.

Jennifer Lopez (87,994)
by Sheila from United States

Since when do the Grammy's allow lip-singing? Cardi? Jennifer? Jennifer is pure smoke and mirrors - great Janet jackson wannabe performer. She's vocally cringe worthy. The American public took an actress with no music ability and turned her into a world class performer with still no vocal ability. She's acting.

In fairness to J.Lo, she has quite the impact on the Latin community. She was the first one to really reach the level of superstardom that she has and is still arguably the most powerful celebrity of Latin descent in the world. She is revered by many despite her "jack of all trades but master of none" image. Especially at a time where immigrant rights are still a hot button topic, her success story is representative of that and is one to aspire towards. She has had better management than Mariah for a decade now, but she does deserve to be in that monologue just as much as everyone on that stage.

Jennifer Lopez's management / Grammys (87,992)

Who else thinks that JLo just has a great and big management to back her up with these huge gigs that she's getting? I mean I don't think she's deserving to be included in that monologue with Michelle Obama and the others because all she does in her career was just mediocre to me and she doesn't have a huge impact to people, and that Motown tribute?

Caution is such a great solid R&B album for it to be not nominated so I think Mariah will have a big chance of winning next year. Rihanna, The Weeknd and Childish Gambino will probably release a new album this year so let's just see how it will all turn out.

Instead of "A No No", I wish Mariah releases the title track "Caution" in which she normally does ever since. I believe it is truly a very good single both for radio and fans. It has a potential to be a hit too IMHO. Puhleeeaaazzzzeeee MC.

Robert-Anthony (87,986)

Robert-Anthony I can appreciate your love for Ariana’s new album but you cannot compare an artist who has done damn near everything Ariana has done but on a bigger level. Mariah is now 15 albums with almost three decades under her belt and with Daydream and Butterfly she defined her artistry and with TEOM she redefined her artistry and legacy once again. With Caution she proved that even with working with current producers and other co-writers that Mariah sound still belongs to her and even when others imitate her artistry no one can do it better. Personally everyone needs to allow AG who is already in the studio beginning work on her next album to develop and grow as an artist, as well as build her own merits and legacy that will one day define her.

Can (87,985)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

Can Mariah just be Mariah without everyone trying to place their own expectations on her? She does not need to follow any formula as she is the formula many aspire to be. She should work with artists and producers who allow her to be creative and that she is comfortable with. She had to fight many years to become the legend she is today. On another note Ariana is five albums in and has yet to match the brilliance of any of MC’s first 5 albums in anyway, shape, or form so can some of stop the comparisons. I am sure it has become annoying to Ariana as well. Allow her to build her own artistry just like MC had to. Lastly Caution still bangs allow it to stand on its own merits.

You just made me nervous because I'm the second stop in Houston. I totally forgot about how not good the first couple of shows can be. I was just so excited she was coming. I'm going to make the best out of it either way.
