Songs you don't have to be a MC fan to love (82,748)
by Edouard from France
| |
|
|
I believe a lot of Mariah's songs are very much beloved. Here's a list of the songs I believe fans and non-fans (if there are still people who don't love Mariah out there ) will agree will go down in history : - Vision of love - I'll be there - All I want for Christmas is You - Fantasy (original and remix) - Always be my Baby - My All - When You Believe - We belong together That's a lot of songs. And Mariah has still a lot to offer.

Great, great, great, great. They've managed to keep the essence of the song, which is my all time favorite by the way. Great to see how the audience reacts. Everybody know and love this song. You can tell the group is a fan of the song.

Tatally agree. I also think Rainbow is very interesting vocally. It's more raw and gritty (if that makes any sense) in direct contrast to the Rainbow theme. I know it's not her best vocally. She was clearly overworked then, and tired, but somehow I always admire how Mariah is able to do something with her voice (technically, emotionally and all) whatever her circumstances. Even when she's sick she manages to take her songs to another level. It's never un-interesting. It's always surprising. She really masters her art and voice.

I also think Mariah perfected her lyrical prowess in Butterfly. They touch most of her personal issues, move hearts and scream poetic. Her vocals might not be at her all time best but they just sound right to the themes, and less power showcase compared to Daydream. Nothing goes beyond Butterfly when it comes to transition - musically and characteristically. There, her greatest work, my all time love.

Dear MusicFanJ, I am aware of the situation in Germany as some of these stories pop up in our papers as well. I couldn't agree more that our childhood has been a bliss. Antwerp has been living under terror attack level 3 (level 4 meaning that you are under attack) for 2 years now. And Brussels has suffered immensely on an economical and social level during the aftermath. We just have to accept that living in Europe will never be the same again.

Daydream's great, but lyrically I think Butterfly wins that fight and the vocals always seemed somewhat "brassy" to me. Merry Christmas was in a league of its own in that respect.

Great post. 95 was a real good year. Daydream still fascinates me. The production was simply perfect, her voice is so magical. I love the lyrics too. For me it's the ultimate Mariah album.

Tijl you're absolutely right. There's not a week something bad is happening because of this huge problem in Europe. I had a happy youth, we could go out at night without worries. Those days are gone. Some areas are a no-go. Now we have some certain groups in our city that causes big problems. They are not willing to share our culture. And thousands of people who can't get watched by the police all the time. The one who say it has nothing to with are wrong. Every day we have this topic in our news, but you never hear something of Buddhists, Hindu or any other culture/religion. That says a lot.

Daydream album (82,739)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
Daydream will always be my favorite Sony release. Lyrically, Mariah's best album. Top notch production from only seven producers - Dave Hall, Walter Afanasieff, Jermaine Dupri, Manuel Seal, David Morales, and Mariah sole producer and arranger credit on Melt Away. It only had 12 songs that showcased Mariah's growth as an artist, songwriter, and producer. 1995 was a great year.

You are living in the US with little knowledge about what the current situation is in Europe. These terrorists are followers of the Islamic scriptures. Sorry to break the news but there is a major flood of issues on a daily basis because Islamic immigrants refuse to adapt to our European culture. There is no need to hide from the truth.

Well we called her for a fraud many moons ago. She wasn't very bright stealing, but not planning for the inevitable "firage". Sloppy mess.

Stella is a financial fool if she purchased a house based on an income from a 2-4 year contract. Seems she counted her chickens before they hatched.

We already know you are [...], but Andrew you better use your words right, those are terrorists and not islamists. Since nobody is blaming Germany for Hitler or us Christians for KKK, it’s very unfair in a way you are blaming Islam for that. My best friend is a Muslim and has explained so much to me, 95% of the Muslims condemn those actions. Also more than 70% of Isis victims are other Muslims. What happened there was a tragic and it’s only fair to the victims that we blame the right people.

I also understand the concerns. But I think it won't be sold out. It shouldn't be a problem to get tickets in autumn. I would be surprised, if there are no tickets available.

Stella (82,732)

This woman is looking for sympathy wherever she can get it. You mean to tell me you compromised your livelihood and worked two years without compensation with minor children for an international superstar who can still bring in millions almost thirty years into their career? Now that you are no longer M's shadow now you want to scream foul play? Stella please stop the lies and smear campaigns everyone is onto your BS and no one is buying it wit the exception of some blogs and gossip rags who just need trash to sell their consumers.

I find it super funny that Stella always acted like she was this money making boss while she was employed by Mariah. Shouldn't she still be making those money moves without Mariah?

Looking In 12inch (82,724)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
I was going through my MC 12inches last night. I forgot I had this Looking In/Rocket Man-Bside-Elton John 12inch. Does anyone else have this rare 12 inch? Looking In is set to dance beat. It really gives Looking In a different perspective. It was unofficially released through Sony I guess. The 12inch has a white label and album cover. I bought it from this mail order record shop in New York city in the 1997. Also, I bought from them this Mariah At Her Best Live CD (possibly recorded live during the Music Box Tour) which included covers of Just Be Good To Me and the Good Times television theme song. The sound is not that great but Mariah's vocals are on point. I made me a Neo-Soul Mariah workout playlist with some of her most underrated rarities and album tracks to hold me over until the new album. I wish I had a mp3 of When I Feel It to add to the playlist. To the moderator - thank you for keeping MCA on the web. I appreciate you.

Concert in Europe (82,723)
by Liz Archer from Sweden
| |
|
|
Not sure if I should get tickets or not, but I want to. I guess it will be sold out if I wait? I saw Mariah in concert a few years ago. It was the last fun activity I had with my mother. It was a great experience, I even meet her. I don't know why I'm hesitating now, lol. Maybe it is the cost plus I need to order hotel and train tickets, not even sure if I can go on holiday if its during workday.
