The industry is very different. There's no money in singles, and even albums. The focus is on getting a buzz for a new era and where the money is, the tour. And you are correct about the new songs: they are sub par, even boring, beyond belief. The Distance is a hot mess so now it is apparently not the "official" second single? Lol well it's actually the *third* single and still the public are not interested. This "era" is pretty much over before it started. I appreciate some lambs are trying to stay positive and praise the PR, the performances, the cartoon on the front, even rubbish like The Distance, but doesn't everything just seem a bit... well, pointless? I get why the first single was chosen. It will help her small theater/casino tour. It will grow on an radio format that caters to an older casino crowd. It is the introduction she needed in this era. A banger that targets the Beliebers would be good if that was the tour/era she was going for but it's not. Well, we will know for sure once we hear the second single. Too many bubbles for my taste (85,180) by Kevyn from Germany Mariah seems to be not the only one living in a bubble. It's kinda cute that some people really think "The Distance" has a hit potential while most of us deep down know it has not. This song is a pretty boring filler - nothing more and nothing less. It's almost insulting to Mariah to call this a "classic, contemporary Mariah Carey song", while this song sounds so 2008 and like a leftover from last decade. Sometimes I truly can't believe that Mariah wrote songs like "Hero", "Butterfly" or "My all" and now writes songs like "GTFO" or "The Distance". Seems like two completley different artists to me. Her concerts are also pretty boring, she is singing the same songs over and over again and I really don't want to see half naked men dancing circles around her. Sorry. Mariah has changed and that's perfectly fine to me. But I refuse to support an elderly woman cursing in her songs and delivering poor quality to her listeners. Caution / news (85,176) by Ethan from United States I've been listening to MIAMTEC to get all hyped up for Caution. It is interesting to listen to the entire album since a while. I have to say it's a solid piece of work. It was unfortunately that it was delayed so many times within a year plus apart. I'd only hope she could have taken Thirsty, Camouflage, One More Try (as a bonus track), and Money out. Then it'd be a coherently produced album. I can't wait for the big news announcement. Maybe I was right about the Caution tour (better be like Charmbracelet with a well thought concept). Perhaps a double album (duet/featured artist)? Singing America The Beautiful at the Super Bowl? She's always stayed r&b once she got artistic freedom other than Almost Home (which did nothing for me). I actually like that she is trying new sounds and co writers. There is a lot of moving parts to this song even though the beat is spare yet it all works. The simplistic hook (very non Mariah the hook queen) actually works here where the same approach on With You's hook left me underwhelmed. I like that she is strategically releasing multiple songs from the album with only one being an actual single. It brings light to songs that would have never got the light of day like any others on previous albums. I hope it gets a video, even if it's just beauty shots as long as it's well done like the last two videos. Her albums are the type where a video for every song and a innovate way to release them to the public as their own events helps bring interest to the album. (Monday 22 October 2018; 05:37)

I hope she works with Calvin Harris or Skillarex. I want to hear her sing over a current beat. I imagine it would sound like an updated version of her collaborations with C+C Music Factory and David Morales. I wish she'd remix Meterotie with resung vocals with Morales and release it to tide us over until the new album or single is released. Or the unreleased #Beautiful remix. Asian shows (85,170) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines Like someone else has mentioned here before, maybe it's the humidity in Asia, but Mariah almost always sounds her best when she's touring in the Orient. I mean a lot of it is still strained and shouty, but at least her tone is not nearly as dry and grating as it was during her Vegas shows, probably due to the drier, harsher weather in there. Her transitions are now smoother, her falsetto richer and her overall tone much more pleasant. Or who knows, it may also be the upcoming holidays or album release that got her excited to push harder and even attempt notes we have come to expect her to avoid over the years, especially on Emotions, Always Be My Baby, Make It Happen, My All, etc. Plus she sings the verses of With You in full voice you guys, and it's actually a good performance which makes you even madder that she had to lip the entire thing at the AMAs. Check out her videos in Taipei and Macau. And it's nice to know the fandom is still quite strong on social media and media sharing sites. I don't know of any artist whose every live performance is documented by a vocal highlights video reliably within a few days (hours, even). Really appreciate them lambs who do it all out of love.
