Re: Allure (82,360) Jamie Theakston (82,363) by Andrew from UK
Her voice is defo not Butterfly era. Let's be honest. But she looks fantastic. It reminded me of the Jamie Theakston interview during said era so I went to rewatch it. Their interviews together are classic. He somehow made a connection with her early on and she is always completely comfortable around him. The sexual tension was palpable, their flirting wonderfully entertaining. The Heart FM interview during the Memoirs era was lovely but also special as a reunion for the fact that Mariah had just been married and she found out that Jamie just gotten married and had had kids. Both of the same age, it was lovely to hear them reunite. I would have Mariah on Heart during the next UK visit to not only meet him again but to co host the Breakfast show with him. Perfect environment for her/massive and mature audience. I cannot be arsed to post all the links so just search on YouTube "Mariah Carey and Jamie Theakston". You will see the Mariah I have been screaming to come back for years. I know she is still in there. The Allure video alludes to it. (See what I did there?)

Re: Allure (82,360) (82,362) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I couldn't agree more. She's stunning, relaxed, chill, cool, cute, funny, engaged. Awe that feels great to say and see. Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Christina Aguilera and Celine Dion are all going to drop this year, and there's rumours RiRi will drop as well in 2018. But I think this is all a great thing. I think it sets the stage for a year dominated by extremely talented women who can take us to church with their vocals (Nicki aside). Think more in terms of when Whitney, Toni, Braxton, MC, and Celine were all dominating the charts and compliment each others success at the exact same time; verses the past few years where apparently only one woman can be successful at a time. Also, the new summer jams that has been coming out already are the best it's been in years.

Meet & greet prices (82,361) by Dove from United States
$1,000-$1,500 is way too much money to spend to meet someone, at least for me. She's super talented but she's still a person. There are a ton of pictures of her on the internet for free. I'd rather donate that money to a homeless shelter or a single mom.

Allure (82,360) by Bobby A from United States
Mariah is looking so beautiful these days. I really think she is about to show the world again why she is the only songbird supreme. Her voice sounds like it is back to 1997 Butterfly era. I hope she releases a new song in July ahead of the Vegas shows for Song of the Summer. The anticipation and waiting is making me feel really good about The Butterfly Returns era. What other major female artist is releasing a new album this year besides Christina?

Soundtrack to my Life (82,359) by Dove from United States
I've thought about it some more and I'd actually rather have a list of songs that are the soundtrack to her life, rather than covers.

Fantasy album track list (82,358) by Dove from United States
I was bored so I came up with a fantasy album track list. I know some people don't appreciate my love for a cheesefest but it's who I am and it's part of what I have to offer. The album would be titled Eccentric Life or Madness and these would be the song titles:
01. Candy-Colored Mystery
02. Classy Girls Wear Pearls
03. Bright Facade
04. Enigmatic Presence
05. Glitz and Glam
06. The Most Outrageous Parties
07. Hot Stuff (Donna Summer cover)
08. New York City
09. 1983
10. Unicorn Magic (about a honey colored drink)
11. Madness (upbeat track that samples "Our House")
12. Jezebel
13. Fantastic World (Life's a Total Blast) (dance track that samples "Fantastic Voyage")
14. Positively Lovely (ballad)
15. Trade Secret (about the underbelly of the industry)
16. Voluntary Seclusion (sad song)
17. Breathe the Light (surrendering to God)
18. Radiant (Bigger Than Me) (getting in tune with God)
Bonus Tracks:
19. So Will I (Hillsong cover)
20. Oceans (Hillsong cover)

Re: Janet (82,350) (82,354) by Shezz from Pk
It is very ironic that the artist with best Billboard performance and numerous Billboard milestones and records is not being given the Billboard Icon Award while other artists as good as they may be in their own rights but with less impressive Billboard performances are being recognised before her. It's clearly politics and not just merrit.

Re: Accelerate (82,329) (82,353) by B from USA
I do as well. Sadly, musicians seem uninspired these days, Mariah included. Thankfully, her last album was a return to form and is still enjoyable. I really hope her next album sounds nothing like Accelerate or Memoirs or MIAM.

Re: Meet and Greet - wait 2 hours for 20 seconds (82,327) (82,352) by B from USA
Personally, I do not care what anyone else spends their money on. Why belittle the fans who have or are planning on doing so? If it does not affect you or your livelihood, why be outraged?

Re: Janet (82,350) (82,351) by CDC from CA
Well one might counter your sentiments on Janet with the idea that the Billboard Awards are an American product, and that the main prerequisite to qualify for the Icon Award is a long presence on the Billboard charts, which Janet has been. That, and a quiet quid pro quo PR campaign that'll ensure the recipient's participation in the ceremony. Not to keep backbiting Jennifer Lopez, but she really is the only stain on the Icon award roll call. Stevie Wonder, Prince, Cher... and Jennifer Lopez? Yikes. In terms of establishment recognition, I'd be more enthusiastic if Mariah were to be qualified for something like the Rock Hall of Fame, in which instance some of her artifacts (butterfly rings, bedazzled microphones, Christmas suits, Rainbow two piece) would be exhibited.

Janet (82,350) by Andrew from UK
It is a frickin joke that Mariah is going to receive this after Jennifer Lopez and Janet Jackson. Awards like this should have a defined criteria for who receives it or else it is rather meaningless. Janet Jackson had never been that popular outside of the United States. She has never been very commercially accessible. She is not making any headlines. It feels meaningless. That Jennier Lopez received it before Celine Dion is a piss-take. I hope Mariah Carey wins it next year. And goes bowling when the show is on.

Re: Janet wins Icon BBMA (82,335) (82,349) by CDC from CA
I think Janet is very deserving. Even overdue for this type of recognition. 2015 would've been a good year to give it to Mariah (her silver jubilee), as she even performed that year and announced that it was her first return to the BBMAs in nearly two decades and even presented a mini video tribute. And had Idina Menzel present her who is one of the most perfect human beings. But the year prior they gave it to J.Lo so my guess is that Mariah didn't see the worth in that award anymore. So they didn't give the award to anyone that year.

Re: Met Gala (82,344) (82,348) by Tijl from Belgium
You are absolutely right. Looking at the atendees' outfits one can only smirk at the level of rediculous fancy dress. This has nothing to do with style but is merely focused on making headlines while wearing the most bizar creations. Mariah looks her best when she plays the Old Hollywood card like at this years Golden Globes. As you mentioned... better appreciated elsewhere than to be tolerated at this "circus of the egos".

Article: Watch Mariah Carey apply makeup to a stranger (82,347) by MusicfanJ from Germany
The video on instagram is really nice to watch. How I missed to see her like that. Her smile and the way she talks, this is truly Mariah. A classy, beautiful woman and just sweet. I have a 90ies flashback and I mean that positive. Please more of it.

Re: Meet and Greet - wait 2 hours for 20 seconds (82,328) (82,346) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yes, if it's is free the whole audience from the concert would go and meet her. I mean who wouldn't? But I think the "Meet and Great" shouldn't be that expensive. Although she's the one and only MC and a global superstar. The lambs who met her at an airport or at the hotel are the lucky ones. I dream of it since day one of my fandom.

Re: MET Gala (82,341) (82,345) by CDC from CA
I believe she was to attend in 2008 with Andre Leon Talley, but pulled out at the last minute because of her surprise wedding. Before 2009 the MET Gala wasn't as much of a tabloid extravaganza and given how prominent Mariah is in the New York social scene, she very well might have attended one of the earlier iterations of the MET Gala. But as a spectator, the celebrity turn out has been dwindling over the last few years and even huge names like Amy Schumer have said how much of a burden attending is.

Met Gala (82,344) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
The Met Gala has lost its prestige it is a popularity contest now. Other then Rihanna most of the attendees looked basic or ridiculous. Honestly I don't see the big deal and I would prefer M to stay away from all of that and continue being herself these social events should not validate her or her status. She should go where she is appreciated not tolerated.

Re: MET Gala (82,341) (82,343) by Licia from USA
Mariah has never really been known for her fashion sense. To be honest half the stuff that the people who do get invited wear isn't that great either. She's not missing much. Lol. Once Rihanna got there it was pretty much done.

I don't think so. She never attended any of the previous editions. Maybe the powers that be at Vogue don't consider her as a fashion icon.

Re: Meet and Greet - wait 2 hours for 20 seconds (82,332) (82,340) by Tijl from Belgium
What to say? Paying 1500 dollars to have a very brief photo opp (one can hardly refer to the situation as a meet & greet) is a bit out there and all but democratic. On the other hand if they would charge a more friendly amount it would become an overtly time consuming and difficult affair as hundreds of people would buy those tickets. I do like Andrew's suggestion of a lottery but I doubt if this is doable from a safety point of view. I have no doubt that the meet and greet ticket buyers are screened by Mariah's security team beforehand. Nobody wants to take the risk of letting some lunatic close to Mariah (albeit that her team over the past years consisted of many a crazy bugger). Anyway if a fan is willing to pay those prices, let them be. Honestly I wouldn't hesitate a moment but my bank manager begs to differ.

Re: Meet and Greet - wait 2 hours for 20 seconds (82,339) by Sheila from United States
Honey B Fly gave away all the meet and greets free during the CB tour I'm told and the Daydream tour. Lambs are not "idiots" for spending there [sic] money to meet Mariah and take a photo with there [sic] icon. It's there [sic] money honey. That was mean and uncalled for. Allow people to be great. Calling friends/lambs "idiots" again is disrespectful.
