Re: DJ Khaled (76,857) (76,859) by B from USA
I thought they were in the studio working on something so it does seem strange that nothing came from those sessions. Oh well, indeed.

Re: Jazz album (76,854) (76,858) by Sarah from Netherlands
Couldn't agree more. And with Mariah's lower register this could turn out beautifully.

Re: DJ Khaled (76,852) (76,857) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Mariah actually said they didn't record anything together which I found was odd since they clearly seemed to be working on something but oh well.

Connecting the dots (76,856) by B from USA
Pop stars love to weave together and drop little easter eggs throughout their catalogs that harp back to a song or two. This is an excerpt from an article I read earlier and I thought it would be fun to apply this to Mariah's impressive catalogue. An example of Mariah weaving two songs together is Lullaby. Another example is For The Record. Can y'all think of any other examples?

Re: 90's vs 2000's (76,851) (76,855) by Shezz from Pk
I respect her wishes to slow down and enjoy the fruits of her labour this decade. Plus it wasn't like the public was waiting to gobble her work up like in the 90s and then ofcourse she has been focusing on dem kids for most of this decade.

Re: Jazz album (76,850) (76,854) by MusicfanJ from Germany
How I love Ella Fitzgerald. The songbooks and Gershwin are a "holy grail" in music. But only a true musician with soul and a lot of talent can sing this wonderful music. If Rihanna, Tyler Swift and all those other hyped stars would sing a jazzy tune it would sound awful. They will never be able to sing it. Jazz is more than music for intellectual, it's timeless and if you're open to it, it's pure pleasure for the ears.

Re: "I Don't" reached 19 million views, what do you think? (76,831) (76,853) by B from USA
Yes, it's important to her career. Streaming is now just as important as airplay and album sales.

Maybe whatever they recorded is for her album.

You forgot about The Remixes.

Re: Jazz album (76,834) (76,850) by Sarah from Netherlands
Clearly you know nothing of jazz. The most iconic voices ever all came from jazz, first and foremost Ella Fitzgerald. Within jazz there are millions of different variations and styles, not to mention that it's been at the foundation of so many other genres, including R&B and even salsa. Most of the Gershwin songs qualify as jazz, from that to freestyle chaotic instrumentals. Making these generalizing statements really shows a lack of knowledge of music as a whole.

Re: Jazz album (76,834) (76,848) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Terna, jazz is not for "ugly rough voices", but I get that you don't like this type of music. Neo-Soul would be nice, lately I prefer soul music over the modern rnb. I just wish Mariah would try a new formula, a little bit experience. I also would love an album full of "retro-soul". So the lambs want jazz, gospel, rnb and soul. Great combination.

Vevo certified. (76,847) by Terna from Nigeria
"When You Believe" is Vevo Certified. A song from when I was a new Lamb is getting so much sudden love. Wow. Ok, I have a confession to make. I had a "When You Believe" tape for my Walkman. Haha, nothing on it just the song, on both sides (that was until I got a discman in 2000) and back then being a teenager I had a lot of time to watch TV, so I used to record music videos on VHS and everytime I changed to a music channel and the duet was on I'd hit record even if the song was already halfway gone. Lol.

Next album (76,846) by Malcolm from Asia
I think Mariah will earn her 7th #1 album with this one, as long as she will not release it in the same period with Taylor Swift or with other current huge pop stars. DJ Khaled's new album went #1 just because of streaming, his traditional sales is only 50,000, lower than MIAMTEC.

90's vs 2000's (76,845) by T from USA
I just realized just how much a work house she is. In the decade of the 1990-2000 she released nine CDs (in ten years). Then from 2001-2010 she released another astonishing seven CDs. Makes you think how little the two releases from this decade have been.

1990-2000
- Mariah Carey
- Emotions
- Unplugged
- Music Box
- Merry Christmas
- Daydream
- Butterfly
- #1's
- Rainbow

2001-2010
- Greatest Hits
- Glitter
- Charmbracelet
- TEOM
- E=MC2
- Memoirs
- MC2Y

Re: Celine (76,837) (76,844) by Tevin from USA
No no no this can't be. I have always viewed the vocal Trinity as like family members. Whitney (rip) was the aunt with so much talent and potential, but her crazy marriage dragged her down. Mariah is like the sister that is a workaholic and talented but likes to party a little too much on the weekends lol. But Celine was like the mom, the person that would take you to church every Sunday while the rest of the family acting like fools. So to see Celine like this lol. My crazy imagination

DJ Khaled (76,842) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Mariah has been doing so many side projects that are leading to nothing (latest I heard is that the Barcelona photo shoot was for some luxury apartment or whatever), it's confusing. Anyways about Khaled, I wonder why, after hanging out with him so many times both in the studio and outside, did she not end up on his album. It seems like every song released from that album is going to the top 5. With Rihanna's one debuting at #4 and Justin's at #1. She should have gotten a track on it. She even seemed to have recorded. Lord knows why she doesn't grab good opportunities and instead I wasting her time on messy projects. I hope there is deluxe version or something where she'll get a track but by then the interest would be gone.

Re: Jazz album (76,839) (76,841) by B from USA
I don't think her next album should be a jazz or gospel album either. I want a Mariah Carey album.

Re: Jazz album (76,834) (76,839) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
No shade to Jazz artists, and I think Mariah's voice would go nicely with some sultry jazz-y song, but I'm not here for a full jazz album. I do not mind a jazz song in an album along with other genres but I agree, a full jazz album should not be her next move.

Mariah / jazz (76,838) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Mariah is a special kind of artist, she is capable of giving us all kinds of genres and doing a fantastic job but a full on jazz moment is not what we need just yet. I would not mind some jazz influence but with MC a need some variety. A pop with R&B undertones some quiet storm and some 90's influence since it is making a wave again with a minimal amount of hip hop. Mariah just needs some fresh producers who can nurture her greatness and allow her to push her pen again like only she can.

Celine (76,837) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
While I am all for going into different territory this is not the move for Celine because for me sexy and Celine do not go together at all. On another note she could have done this fifteen years ago and I can understand her wanting to do so but at this point it would be arkward because Celine is only known as a ballad and A/C type of artist. But I just wait and see what comes of this maybe this is her Butterfly or Janet moment.

Re: Adele canceling tour (76,803) (76,836) by Will from England
Take into account that the majority of Adele's popular songs require her to belt more than half the time. Mariah may record her songs in a higher key, but her songs are a mixtures of belters to softer sung ones, which on occasion can give her voice a little break. Plus you are talking about two very different voices. Adele is a powerful singer, but she can't do soft tones like Mariah (like whisper singing etc). Adele's voice is more or less permanently in full voice so it constantly is working hard. Now, Mariah has lost power to her voice, and for the most part, can't hold a long note like she used to without help or proper warm ups and rest, there is no denying that. But she can, if and when she chooses, sing softly as that doesn't take much effort for her to do and she has the option to play with the range that she uses. Adele can't.
