Re: Bruno Mars (80,709) (80,721) by B from USA
I would suggest they write songs in the vein of his first two albums. Ballads like Grenade and When I Was Your Man.

Re: Grammys 2018 (80,715) (80,720) by RibbonB from USA
I agree with a lot of what you said and not that Bruno isn't talented and a great writer. But I don't think that Mimi should try to pull from that particular well.

We Belong Together, DFAU and Touch My Body, or 16, 17 and 18 respectively. She was funny and oozing out her last bit of sexy before babies and what not. From there to I Don't is just Marian's World's apart.

I'd have to agree about Heartbreaker. As Special K said it was just fun and creative. My second is Obsessed. Mariah dressed as a man is something I never thought I'd ever see. It was awesome and funny. I tend to enjoy her videos that show her sense of humor.

My personal favorite is The Roof. It was stunning. An honorable mention, however, is the iconic moment in Honey where MC "sheds her skin" by jumping in the pool to escape.

Re: Best music video? (80,698) (80,716) by Special K from USA
Heartbreaker hands down. That video has so much creativity and different hilarious scenes. The epic girl fight between Mariah and Brianca is too damn funny along with scene of the lady sitting on the toilet in the bathroom, lol. Also, Mariah was killing it with the choreographed dance moves. Honorable mentions to The Roof, Honey, ILT, Someday and TTR.

Grammys 2018 (80,715) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I believe Bruno's sweep is a side effect of what's going on in America right now. 2017 brought to light Trump's reign and the #MeToo / Time's Up movement. Everyone is a little on edge right now. And everyone needed a break - something fun, light and buoyant, if a little shallow and dumbed down. That's what 24K Magic exactly was. it provided a joyous escape, and so people looking for lighter moments turned to that album and its hits as a distraction. When everything else is dark, the lighter ones stand out all the more. Not to discredit 24K Magic - that album, as a step-down it may be for Bruno lyrically and thematically, is still his best work to date due to its lean, sheer, impeccable craftsmanship and cohesion as a body of work. Kendrick's Damn. and Lorde's Melodrama are better and much more deserving, but that isn't to say that Bruno's outing was not competition - it's difficult to pull off a 90s concept album. The Grammys have always been notorious for choosing the safest bets as winners over the years (Christopher Cross, Falling Into You, River: The Joni Letters, 1989, 25) and what happened this year is no different. Even more disappointing are That's What I Like's wins over SZA and Julia Michaels in their respective categories, as well as 24K Magic winning Record of the Year when it's basically a lesser recreation of Uptown Funk. But the biggest disappointment of the night is probably SZA and Julia Michaels losing Best New Artist to Alessia Cara, who released her debut album back in 2015. Oh well. Thankfully, performances by Kendrick, U2, Kesha, Cardi B and Bruno were there to somehow to (unsuccessfully) save the night.

My post should have said I was good until Patti not it was good until Patti. I would never disrespect Patti like that. Ever. Lol.

Re: Grammy parties looks (80,712) (80,713) by RibbonB from USA
OK Imma let you have Patti, lol. As for Jay, I think the party was supposed to be 1940's theme, so he was appropriate, if the only one dressed that way.

Re: Grammy parties looks (80,706) (80,712) by Licia from USA
I'm not a huge fan of Jay and Bey either, but Bey was serving some looks. Jay looked like Laurence Fishburne's character from the movie Hoodlum at the luncheon though. I really need him to cut his hair lol. I would love another Legends' ball. Oprah will forever get props for pulling that event together. All that greatness in one place. I was just recently watching the clip on YouTube where some of the legends were singing the gospel song. It was good until Patti. Patti took me out. I was a mess.

Honey is the video that everyone who is not a lamb says is her iconic moment.

Between Honey or Heartbreaker. Because the creative direction of both the videos. I love when she can have some fun on the video but also creating a masterpiece at the same time.

Bruno Mars (80,709) by RibbonB from USA
I liked one of his hits from the last project but in general that record was so derivative and basic. Mimi doesn't seem to mention him on her would like to work with list and I am glad. I think after his big win last night he might start getting backlash. The pendulum swings both ways and this project might be the climax of his career. I highly recommended she works with Miguel a couple of years and that was a nice success. I believe she could have great success and quality working with Childish Bambino and his collaborators for at least a couple of songs. I think she needs a more interesting, mature sound that people could groove to and that she would not have to worry about dancing to. Vocals not movement are her strength. Bruno does write a good ballad, but I doubt the success of 24K would rub off on Mimi nor would that sound fit with her strengths.

She brought her staff to both events although I heard that she and her entourage arrived at the night soiree as the event was ending. Better late than never I suppose. I'm not big Beyonce and Jay Z fans, but they were serving looks all day yesterday. Nice to see Mimi wearing her Oprah "youngun" earrings earlier in the day. Oprah really needs to throw another legends ball. The first one was epic.

The Roof. Mariah looked stunning. The video was beautiful shot and has an actual storyline.

I'm surprised he got to go to both events. Lol. I keep saying Mariah can tame those tits when she wants to. They are out, but she still looked nice. Us big breasted gals have to know the appropriate times to show an overwhelming amount of boobage and when it's appropriate to strap those bad boys down. Lol.

Girl leave my baby alone. You know he look fine as hell in that suit. Tanaka is simply gorgeous. That dress Mimi has on is banging. Don't get me wrong I get so tired of seeing Mariah's breasts but she gets a pass with this dress. Team Tanaka.

Re: Mariah's most inspiring song (80,677) (80,700) by Andrew from UK
Oh Randy Randy Randy. If you watch the CTTA live version at the Billboard Awards and other performances, the climax has a massive background chorus verse, also. Honestly, I don't see the problem with it. What you receive in a live performance might need to be a little bit more grandiose than on the CD (showing my age). As smoke and mirrors go, I don't think it's anything to worry about. In some cases, the CD versions might have actually benefitted from the later live additions. As long as what you can hear of her voice is coming out of her mouth, who cares? If I wanted to watch someone lip-sync I'd watch Drag Race. TTR is a very slow, plodding number. Anything to spice it up for live performance now gets my vote. And I'm still waiting on those flowers.

Re: Couldn't Give That Away (80,695) (80,699) by Andrew from UK
Most threads stem from Mariah-centric topics. And I was attempting to make a wider, more sweeping statement in light of the recent polemics from certain individuals on this board who scream racism, fascism and misogyny etc. at any given opportunity. This is all mostly directed at me, from their far-flung boring, hippy little squats in life (give it? then take it). However, I do have to side with them in this instance (I'm sure others are typing Mariah posts out about Migrate etc. right now, don't worry). The last post I made had two mild jokes censored - jokes far less offensive than other stuff I and other people have posted. I side with them, because, Eric: wagwan? Your "censorship" is as confusing to me as it is to my detractors. Joking that Mariah's breasts are "chest investments"? Go on, post it, and let's see if it receives ire and ignominy - I'm genuinely interested. Apparently people do have the right to not be offended, here. I am offended by some of the claptrap and outright untruths and propaganda some people post here. I don't cry over it, I argue it. What a sad little world it is when offence becomes outlawed. When humour becomes the subject of intense scrutiny and forbade. You are essentially stating that the status quo is a utopia for which we should all be grateful. I appreciated Edward's lamenting the loss of interesting topics and, essentially, spice. What do you want here? Because what you say and what you do, never quite marries up. In my favour. And not.

Girl you know Mimi needed an assistant on both arms after attending both a brunch party and a "linner soire" in one day. Her manager JayZ has a lot of pull no doubt. Her evening look was cute.
