Re: "Charmbracelet" anniversary (79,621) (79,628) by Mike from FL, USA
I love Charmbracelet. My favorite is The One, mainly because of this live version. I also love Clown. Subtle Invitation is one of my all time faves.

Re: "Charmbracelet" anniversary (79,625) (79,627) by Licia from USA
That version with JT got blocked by JT and his label because Mariah wasn't deemed relevant at that time. I heard he wanted it released after TEOM was released because she was back in top then. I don't know how true that is because it didn't make sense to release it then.

Nikki, I really love when you answer back with receipts, in the most substantiated way possible, especially to posters that are just plain judgmental, bitter and self-righteous.

Re: "Charmbracelet" anniversary (79,621) (79,625) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Wow. Fifteen years since Charmbracelet. This is a very special album to me too, Billy. Charmbracelet was when I truly became a Lamb. I was so impressed with how she recovered from her breakdown after the press had completely turned on her, seeing tabloid headlines everywhere like "Mariah's meltdown", "Batty Mariah looses her mind", "No more rainbows in Mariah's sky" etc. etc. She came back so confident exploring a new sound with her music. She didn't do what people expected musically, and I found that liberating and empowering. I agree with you, this is when Mariah developed her cult following, and solidified her legion of true Lambs. My favourite tracks are: You Got Me, I Only Wanted, Clown, Subtle Invitation and Bringing on The Heartbreak (her best remake of a song IMO). Has anyone ever heard the version of "Yours" she recorded with Justin Timberlake? I've always heard rumours of this version, but have never got to hear it.

My goodness so many things I could say about this album that I've already said many many times before. Lol Billy you pretty much summed it up. Vocally this album isn't a favorite for many fans, but lyrically she kills it. I feel every word of this album.

Lila have you been living under a rock? (79,623) by Nikki from usa
2016 alone saw Mariah doing a 5 month residency, a world tour, documenting her life, an entire cosmetics line with Mac, headlining 3 shows, her annual Christmas concerts and cutting her Christmas vacation with her kids short to do NYE. She was also featured in the movie Girls Trip. It's mighty pompous to assume she's not working simply because you don't have paparazzi pictures of it or she's not in your area. There's also a difference between taking a vacation on an island to get away from everyone for downtime when you live in a people oriented occupation and traveling for leisure for the fun of it. She did a lot of work with the Dead Sea cosmetics line, touring, creating movies, new music, and doing a lot of behind the scenes deals this year. Mariah's a private person. You're not going to be kept up to date on what she's doing with her kids or real private time other than the usual run of the mill media quotes and blurbs she wants you to know.

The kids were great on stage and Mimi looked nice and trim. It's a shame if it took surgery to make her limit her drinking and eating. She could have saved that money and the risks to her health. But glad if it is actually helping her.

"Charmbracelet" anniversary (79,621) by Billy from Greece
Happy fifteenth anniversary to an album I hold dear to my heart. For me, CB is a transitional album, that took "Mariah" to "Mimi" and one that sort of signaled a new era for her. "Lullaby" and "Subtle Invitation", along with "Through the Rain" and "My Saving Grace", are some of my most beloved songs. There's plenty of gems on here. I won't say that it is Mariah's most accessible album, but it certainly is one of her most intricate and satisfying as a whole, especially lyrically. Just a unique moment in time for the lambs that experienced that era, because it sustained our patience and belief in MC. It was during those days that Mariah cemented her cult fan following, I think.

She looked great and she sounded great from the few clips I've seen. That red dress with the cape is to die for. I need to find a better clip of the kids singing their part for The Star. They looked like they enjoyed it (especially Mary Ann's son, he was so excited lol). Roc didn't look like he was spazzing out. Normally he's doesn't cooperate with being on stage. Lol.

The essence of lipsync (79,618) by Andrew from UK
If a newspaper prints something which is not true, they are subject to being required to print a retraction. If an author plagiarises someone else's work or ideas they are sued. I fully believe that music artists should have to advertise that their vocals are prerecorded in arena or theatre concerts for which people have paid to hear them sing live. This should be in all advertising and perhaps even on the screens at the concert - when the prerecord kicks in a symbol should have to come on the screen to let the audience know. The intention here is to essentially dupe people into believing you did something that you did not. It's completely immoral. Why are music artist the only ones reall allowed to get away with lying about the service they are providing, with dishonesty, subterfuge? It makes absolutely no sense. "I can't sing this song so I'm going to get up on stage and pretend I did to still get the money."
(Sunday 3 December 2017; 12:40)
And so it continued (79,617) by Andrew from UK
Mariah used lip-sync when duetting with her mum on stage and now she's used it duetting with her children. Seriously, she can't sing The Star live? Pray tell, what can she sing all the way through without the assistance of pre-record? I genuinely want to know. It's not Hero. It's not Joy To The World. Its not Emotions. Now, it's not even The Star. Anything that's remotely above speaking level seems to be pre-record, unless it's the occasional "ohhhh" with head frozen looking up wth arm reaching out for God to give it some long-since heard resonance. Am I missing something here? How is this some sort of "return to form"? Star, indeed.

Beacon / first show (79,616) by Billy from Greece
Following the slayage that was the concert a few days ago, I won't lie, I got teary eyed watching clips from the first Christmas show. Forget that she looked gorgeous, like a goddess. Forget that she sounded phenomenal, impeccable. Above everything, she seemed to be well, "together". I am so happy and grateful to see her like that again. It only makes me angry at the same time to think what that disgusting woman and her idiotic daughters brought upon Mariah the previous years and how they were the source and reason of so much misfortune. But alas, that is in the past and Mariah is back. Amen.

Re: Why do some lambs talk about a comeback? (79,609) (79,615) by Lila from United States
Personally, I don't think it's sad at all because Mariah not seeing the world due to work is untruthful of her to say, at this point. Mariah has gone on vacation every year for years now. On average it's 2-3 times (that we usually know of, anyway): Aspen gets one slot, the other 1-2 are dedicated to an island. Last year, every time we blinked, she was off to vacation on Packer's yacht or stay at one of his stupid hotel casinos. If she ever used these opportunities to go somewhere other than the expensive side of an island or seaside city, she could've seen more of the world, uninterrupted, by now. I don't think she's that pressed to. I do agree that it would be nice for her to take some time to just be a mom and I always find it disconcerting that she references the twins as being her best friends. Downtime could be good for her if she used the time to improve herself. She could just be mom, get some hobbies, make some adult friends, etc. However, I don't think she wants to. Otherwise, she would've done so by now. I think Mariah acknowledges things about herself and her life but it doesn't mean she actually wants to or is ready to change it. A little while ago she admitted publicly to low self esteem during an interview, not that most didn't already know. Yet, something tells me she hasn't done anything to actually rectify it. That I find sad.

Recent shows (79,614) by darrian liu from taiwan
Mariah's everything has been on point recently. Her voice and performances are great. Her voice, especially. It currently sounds so buttery and smooth, so bright and healthy and effortless. She sounds even better than SSFT's European leg. Glad that she's been taking care of her voice. Now how about we get another big televised show to prove that Mariah still is a force to be reckoned with? (Please for the love of lambs, Mariah, if you do get a slot in such shows, rehearse and rehearse, dahling. And do multiple sound checks just to be sure. And I can't stress this enough - please, please warm up your voice. Wouldn't want anther NYE or Rockefeller moment.)

She's normal again (79,610) by Malcolm from Asia
The way she walked, the way she sung, the way she talked on the Aids Benefit Concert was so refreshing, she seems back to her senses. Not to mention that she looked like 2009 Mariah, like she went there straight from her guesting on X Factor UK 2009 haha. I'm just so happy for her, I hope this is permanent, time to repair her image and be an icon and legend as she is.

Why do some lambs talk about a comeback? (79,609) by Kevyn from Germany
I don't know in what universe some of you lambs live, but in my universe Mariah has never left the game. Since 29 years she is working her butt off, to be on top of the game and to be honest, at this point I don't see any reason why she should release another album. I know, some of you may hate me for writing this, but Mariah needs a break. Last year she said in an interview with Sat1 (German TV broadcaster) that she's been traveling the world since her early twenties and still didn't see much of it, because she's busy heading from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the next show. That's sad, isn't it? Beyoncé said something very similar a few years ago and she took a break to experience the world and did normal stuff like, for example, picking up her nephew from school, because she didn't have own children back then. Mariah isn't just a singer aka diva, she's also a mother and in my opinion she should take a break to experience what it's really like to be a mommy. She describes dem babies as her "best friends" and I'm sorry, but that seems wrong to me on so many levels. It's also not smart from Mimi firing nannies 24/7, because her children start to bond with their nanny. Long story short: Mimi should take a break, rest her voice, have some fun and do all the normal things with her children most mommies do. This is one side of Mariah I would like to see a little more often in the future. I really don't know if people get what I'm trying to say. Let them miss you sometimes, when you're always available, they take you for granted, because they think you will always stay.

Thank you. So impressed by this performance. She was so light and fun, and when she pulled up that lamb on stage and signed her arm, we can all say Mariah, leader of the lambs, is nack in beautiful form. "It's like that", into "Don't forget about us", to "We belong together" and finally, Hero. Great choices. Fantastic set.
