Re: I'm featured in Say Somethin' (So So Def Remix) (79,261) (79,265)
by Bill from the UK

I also really doubt Mariah herself was masquerading as a tween on MSN trying to get people to sing so she could steal it for her remix. I'm picturing her in a gothic castle on a hilltop, black clouds swirling around, thunder rumbling and lightning striking as she rubs her hands together in evil super villain glee whilst sat at the computer, having successfully catfished poor Ben. If she wanted a sampled vocal on her track, all she would do is put an announcement on her website and she would be inundated with people wanting the opportunity. Or, there are thousands of royalty-free vocal tracks for free use. Also, this was a Def Mix Production, so as to Mariah's personal involvement in it, other than the re-sung vocals, nobody knows. If it's that big an issue, sue her. In summary, what I'm trying to say is, who cares really.

Article: Now what for music's ditsy-est diva? (79,264)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

Funny how some would always refer to Mariah as a ditzy diva as if that's her defining characteristic. For amassing such net worth, accomplishing everything she has so far and having a career spanning almost 3 decades - sure, that's what ditzy looks like. Yup, that's my takeaway from this article.

Big Jim and young female lambs? (79,263)
by Sheila from United States
| |
|
|
Rumor has it that Big Jim in exchange for backstage passes likes to have certain white female lambs visit him at his hotel, maybe this is the reason. Love the music Big Jim, but honestly, truly he's a dirty old man. Messy.

Finally recognition (79,262)

Mariah finally will be in the songwriters hall of fame, how long has she waited for this? It's amazing a lot of people up go this day don't know Mariah writes her own music even though she has said it a gazillion of times. I'm very happy for her achievement. This is a Christmas present, another title to throw when she is introduced haha. Also her new manager has been announced around and it is being said she is a bitch. Huh... don't know her so don't know.

You post this every so often but it never makes any sense. I can’t hear it on the remix and not sure what all the distortion is either (sorry if that’s your voice lol). Not many people can say they’re sampled on a Mariah song, and lots would love to be able to say that, so if it is the case try looking at it positively. It’s something to tell the grandkids one day.

Alina (new singer) praises Mariah (79,256)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
A little off topic, but there's a so called german "Adele" who is praising Mariah endlessly during an interview The singer said: Mariah is her idol, because of the songwriting and that she's got the best voice in pop. Her songs are impossible to sing for others and she needs to cry while listening to the unplugged album. There's God in her voice. I just wanted to share the nice words from a newcomer with you. I love it when other singers praise MC. If you're a good one, you have too.

Yes, it's true. I'm in the song 6 tones. We'll have to hear a comment from Mariah about this. She's a silly criminal. I didn't even know I was in contact with her on the web or MSN Messenger back then.

I think a lot of people have forgotten that before Stella came into the picture Mariah was in deep waters, she had like 4 different managers in like 2-3 years, her album flopped, had no promotions going on, and then it came to tie the ribbon that terrible lipsynch in Jamaica that stained her for a fair amount of time, what about the leaked open mic that previous Christmas. Sometimes I feel people needed to put much of the blame on someone for all that was going on wrong, then Stella did make some questionable things. Was Stella to blame for no new music though? Nah, Mariah didn't want to do an album, she wanted new ventures, she got that, directing, acting, side projects, etc. Then Mariah said she was prepping new music, then nothing happened, then there were hints at a new album, then nothing happened again, after I don't Mariah said she was only going to do singles, then again it was the talk that she was working hard at the studio on a new album, that was like the third time she was caught saying that at the E. channel microphone. Is she or is she not working in a new album in the end? No one knows, only our Mimi, the elusive chateuse.

I really hope this isn't true. Big Jam brought out the best in Mariah and challenged her musically. Also, her live band has sounded awesome since he joined as the musical director. I keep saying Mariah needs to add live music on her albums. The reason TEOM was so great was the production of live music rather than produce beats. The thought of not having another Circles, FLAB, MA,Cry, Camouflage is depressing. Please MC keep Big Jam.

A new dawn? (79,250)
by Tijl from Belgium
| |
|
|
So we have hit a new era albeit a rather odd one. But then again, what else is new? I have no doubt Mariah has always had the final word concerning the decisions made over the last years. Unfortunately Stella had too much of a negative impact on Mariah who is by nature quite insecure. Medina pushed her into the right direction during the TEOM era and God knows Nick has tried to do so as well. There is however a blatant difference in Mariah's persona over the last weeks. She has regained a certain glow of relaxation and her styling is far from the trailer trash ensembles Stella seemed to favour. Mariah has a lot on her plate these coming months and I truly hope she will deliver. To be continued...

As for this article I agree with it for the most part. The use I have is that no one had a problem with her working with the rappers as long as it was popular and hitting the charts. Now that these songs aren't chart toppers, she needs to stop working with them? Do I think she needs to slow down on the rap collaborations? Sure. Should she completely stop doing them? Hell no. The fact of this whole situation is that no matter what genre of music she does, if she's not 100% dedicated to making it a great song then it's not going to be crap. They only thing I'd want her to bring back from the 90's is how she made an original version, a rap version, and a dance version. She even managed to throw in a Spanish version every now and then. That way the racists got their pop, black gangsters got their rap, and the dance people got what they wanted. That formula worked really well.

What the hell does her liking hip hop or rap have to do with being a a black gangster? I'm so speechless at this dumb sh*t. Marissa and Lila you both pretty much said everything that needed to be said. Smh.

I would prefer Alicia Keys. But an up-tempo song with Beyoncé would work as well. Definitely charts-friendly. Is Lil Kim still doing music? Oh yes, that brings back memories of the 90ies.

Stella wasted her last good years (79,246)
by T from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah had the chance to release one album under LA Reid's watch at Sony. As the Showbiz article states, Stella wasted Mariah's best chance as Reid is one of the last big supporters of Mariah. I know it was important to re-establish her #1's in 2015 but he exited Sony in May 2017 so even if she had been focused and got out an album by Octpber/November 2016 or even March 2017 the latest then at least she would have label support. What is she going to do now?

Mariah Carey and Beyonce song (79,245)

How great would it be to have a massive girl power record with these two legends? They could also do a re-sung remix of the song and feature Lil Kim. It would be the stuff '90s dreams are made of.

I like Shania, also it's not my taste of music. But the songs from the "Come on over" album were deserved hits. I enjoyed the songs on the radio at that time. Taylor Swift isn't as good as her. And yes Shania is a little lamb.

The never ending racism. Mariah hasn't done one thing in her life that shows her as wanting to be anything near to a "black gangster". Which, please explain because I'm quite ignorant on this front. How, exactly, is her having rappers on her soundtrack and loving rap/hip hop equal to Mariah wanting to be a "black gangster"? Also, how does rap/hip hop automatically make someone a "black gangster"? Mariah doesn't have to do anything to "try" to be black because she already is by way of her black daddy though that probably bothers you so you ignore it but a "black gangster"? Hmmm, I can't see how. Maybe you meant she needs to stop trying to be a white gangster and stop making friends with stupid wannabe white gangster women who encourage her to run with every stupid white gangster thought in her mind like publicly shaking down billionaires for millions of dollars that she was never entitled to. Now, there's a thought. Oh, and you and anyone else can miss me with any round about posts about how your comments weren't racist when they are instead of admitting you want to make your racist comments you just can't handle being called out for it.

Shania's Come on Over turns 20 (79,242)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
The bestselling country album and bestselling album by a female artist, Come on Over, is 20 years old this week. That album is just major. It was truly all killer, no filler - literally every song could have been released as a single, and the many ones that did are really, really memorable. Not even any of Taylor's country albums could compete with how Shania expertly married pop and country on that album. Although far-fetched, I still hope she and Mariah could collaborate in any way. From the sound of her voice on her latest album, it seems like her singing range has also become more limited than what she had in the 90s, just like Mariah. I've seen videos of her praising Mariah so she's clearly a fan. A duet would surely be a treat.

I really loved what Big Jim did with the Emotions intro, the "Thank God I found you" intro in Vegas and he's just "soulful" with vocal arrangements.
