Yes, 4th of July is totally a follow on from Underneath the Stars. I'm going to listen to them back to back now. I wonder if these events happened? And who's the guy? Love The Beautiful ones and how she destroys the 2 lads. I always imagine I'm singing it in a competition and then I destroy my competitors. The only other skip on Buttrrfly for me is Babydoll. Always thought it was needy.

Fourth of July has never been a song that grabbed me. The Beautiful Ones is my stuff though (shame on you Mimi L. for not loving the greatness, j/k) . I had faith that Mariah would do it justice, but I didn't know how the song would be with more than one person singing it. I was surprised at how well it came out. I absolutely love Dru Hill, but I was going to banish them and Mariah from the kingdom had they messed up one of my favorite Prince songs. I'm still angry at that mess Maroon 5 pulled recording Kiss. Lol.

The Beautiful Ones is such a poignant song with a really graceful delivery by Mariah. Don't really care too much for Dru Hill but Mariah's "if we got married" line still gets me every time. As for Fourth of July, never skipped it but always felt it a bit too syrupy for my tastes, but lyrically, as with everything on Butterfly, simply wonderful.

19M is good compared to the 8M from "Infinity". But compared to JLo's 500M for "Aint Your Mama", it's not good. Mariah is at #84 as one of the most viewed artist on Youtube. It's a good place, it says a lot about us as her fanbase and about her as a global icon because her newest songs didn't perfom well. Still, she needs a hit because she was #75 a year ago and 19M from "I Don't" is not enough. JLo is at #40 because when she releases a song she does really good.

FOJ is understandable but TBO? Lol. Mariah's and Dru Hill's rendition was amazing. My trying and failing miserably to sing along with them and hit all those notes is equally amazing.

I think this separation is probably nothing but a fluke. Stella and kids were in the Bahamas but the kids most likely also wanted to spend time in Hawaii. Who knows, they'll probably fly back to the Bahamas after a few days. Da Brat has posted videos from Exumas so I think she's down there with Mariah. I'm just celebrating that an old friend, who still has so much love for her, and doesn't depend on her monetarily for everything is with her. It's the little things we have to hold onto.

Well nobody says you have to like it, of course. That would be stupid. But so is forming an opinion on a matter you have no knowledge of. And contemporary jazz actually does quite well on the charts, critically, commercially. You just won't find them in the same clumps of artists that make bubblegum pop. But if you look for vocalists, you'll find 'em.

I always thought that 4OJ was an updated version of Underneath the Stars. For me it looks like Mariah did on Butterfly wahatever she was not able to do on Daydream. I like 4OJ more.

I also used to always skip over FOJ, I never really got into it. I'll probably go and listen to it again to see if I feel differently about it now, but yes "Butterfly" is perfection, the only 2 songs I skip on it are FOJ and TBO. But I wouldn't change anything about that album. It's a master piece.

Haha especially when Mariah quite recently splurged 34K to buy "hoochie mama" Stella a big LV trunk. Anyone with half a brain would know that no reputable brand would go out and say "oh yes, Miss Carey, her card was declined", because not everyone has a big mouth like Stella cutting off ties with people. I really hope the whole "Mariah was mad at her assistant part" was true though, she needs to be seriously medicated or under voodoo control to not notice what has happened to her image since this clan came on board. Stella being in a different place than Mariah for once in the past 2 years seems like a celebratory moment, since that never happens but it probably won't last long.

So it's not true with the credit card. But every week another "headline" about the possible boyfriend, wedding, parties, restaurants, outfits, commercials and the list goes on. It's too much Hollywood for me.

Yes you're right, I know absolutely nothing about Jazz and am also uninterested to know. Quite frankly it's just not a genre that interests me at all. Jazz isn't commercial, neither were the figures heads of Jazz like Ella and Sarah Vaughn. etc. We're in contemporary times and were talking about a contemporary R&B commercial (all caps) singer - Mariah Carey. Sure R&B could be traced as having roots in Jazz, but do you actually think the common listener is interested in all that hoopla? I just stated an opinion on Mariah Carey and a Jazz album and that's a no for me. Just no. "The Wind" and "Subtle Invitation" are stellar as a result of her voice, vocal performances and the exquisite lyricist she is, not really the music. Take those out the equation and the music loses that zest only Mariah can bring.

I love Fourth of July. It's one of Mariah's best songs. It's a lyrical masterpiece. She paints a vivid picture with her lyrics. It's like a Hallmark card come to life.

Article: Mariah Carey credit card not declined while shopping (76,879)
by Lila from United States

The cast members of The House could not have been too far off on their accounts of what occurred on set. Otherwise, I don't see how Stella has the time to take out of her busy schedule of being a strong and empowered single mother of two, helping Mariah's career to reach oh so new heights of success to deny this story but not to deny the claims they made, which has received a lot more press, while this story was most likely going to receive none. I don't know if the story is true or not, though I would not be surprised if it is; however, these Gossip Cop stories are a mess. First, the person who spread those stories about For Hire being a golddigger was an "obsessed" employee and now this Radar article is worthy of alluding to the "eyewitness" being a stalker. On top of it, it makes no sense for them to use Louis Vuitton's most likely generic statement of truly not being able to confirm this story as proof that it didn't happen, when they were most likely just saying that they couldn't speak on the matter at all. Unless a company is in in a personal but public dispute with an individual, it's not exactly good business to go around blabbing the clientele's credit card acceptances and declines.

If it's true with the credit card, it's time to wake up. Well since a while it's time for that. Even Michael Jackson got broke and he was "forced" to do the "This is it" Tour. And a lot of other rich people experienced the same because of the false consultants. With the jet I have no words for it. Mariah must be blind to trust the "clan" aka her empowerment crew.

Fourth of July cover (76,876)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

It's that day again. Did you know that there was a time that Filipinos also celebrated July 4? It was when our country was colonized by America several decades ago. Anyways, on to the song. Fourth of July remains to be one of Mariah's most complex songs thanks to its vocal layering and endless vocal runs. Like its parent album, it never seems to age. Don't know if this has been posted here before, but I came across this great cover of it by a guy (there haven't really been many, but this is the best I have seen by far). He makes the most out of the limitations of his voice, proving that this song could very well be a hit for a male artist R&B today. Nice job.

Stella is now it seems using Mariah's private jet for her own vacations. At first I thought she is using it because Mariah is with her but turns out Mariah is in the Bahamas with Bryan and the kids while Stella took the jet to Hawaii. This woman is going to milk every last penny she can get off Mariah's brand and then leave. Mariah needs to wake up while she has time to save her own career. Stella has made enough stupid mistakes for Mariah to realize that.

I thought Mariah didn't use credit cards. I got cash from her accounts. Maybe Stella [has] been applying for credit behind Mariah's back. Who knows but she needs to let her manager go. For real.

Mariah (76,869)
by B from USA

Mariah needs a vocal coach, personal trainer, and stylist stat. She's about to embark on her tour with Lionel and she's recording an album and instead of preparing she's off doing photo shoots for side projects that she should have never agreed to take on. Further proof of Stella incompetence. I think this shows what Stella's motives are clearly. She doesn't care about Mariah's career or legacy, all she cares about is making money while taking her entire coven on vacation under the guise of being Mariah's team. Supposedly Mariah was so angered after the Israel press conference that [she] canceled another press conference scheduled for later that same day. Remember when she had a publicist who wouldn't allow this nonsense? Mariah is to blame as well. She's lazy and misguided. Stella allows this because it gets her phone ringing and she gets to think she's important. I honestly believe she sabotaged Mariah's NYE performance to get her 15 minutes of fame. Which is exactly what she got, a Billboard profile published the next day. Here's the link.
