Mariah Carey most disrespected icon? (74,433)
by Sheila from United States
| |

New article I read on Janet Jackson. Yes, Janet Jackson - a woman who has sold over 100 million albums, becoming the blueprint for aspiring starlets worldwide who could unleash every eye-cutting note and body rolling move from 1987’s iconic "The Pleasure Principle" clip by heart - has become the most disrespected pop behemoth this side of Mariah Carey.

I would like Daley, Pharrell, Babyface, and Timbaland. Producers with a vision. Co-writers that can tell a story with their pens.

It would really be a dream come true. I absolutely love MJ and MC, and it was always a dream of mine for them to collaborate on a duet, can you imagine the potential? Two of the greatest coming together, alas with MJ gone, that won't come true so I would really love for her to cover one of these songs, I think she can really make them her own (like she does with most of her covers) and just blow us away. It would also be a nice tribute to one of the artists she has said she grew up listening to.

I agree, right after the NYC disaster and being the first joke of 2017 would cause anyone to kind of freeze up, so I do understand her problem there, not blaming her, just saying that for a concert she'd need a little more movement to you know get the audience in the mood. But I understand your view too.

No no, I mean the leather jacket Stella always wears all the time, the amount of sweat and fake tan/bronzer it has endured, is a marvel. I love MC's leather jacket moments.

Very nice additions, I'm surprised I didn't add Mike Will Made It to my own list haha since I love the heck out of "Faded". Also totally here for a song with a sexy Latin beat, it's something she hasn't done before, her previous ones were slow love songs, so it would be great if she comes up with a more up beat one.

MC should collaborate with Marsha Ambrosius (74,424)

I think MC should do a songwriting collabo or duet with Marsha. Their writing styles and voices would mix beautifully.

Those cover song recommendations are so good. Gosh. All of the songs you mentioned would be good for her to, especially considering where her voice is at right now. She could actually do a good job on those.

You make good points Mimi L. I am still sticking with my opinion that I could care less if Mariah had any choreography. And for the record, I don't like the lifts, to me they look unnecessary. At the same time, I get where you are coming from. I think we just have different tastes and that's fine by me. For the record, I could see she was nervous during the Kimmel performance but I think overall it was very enjoyable. I am a musician myself and considering the circumstances I think she would have been nervous at this point in time no matter what she was doing.

I would love a new Babyface song, so I would add him to the list. Toni Braxton would sound amazing. Maxwell was always a dream duet of mine. There was a time I remember Mariah saying she was a fan of Hole back in the 90's and when she and Brett were pretty close he had Courtney Love and Mariah at some events together. I used to think that would be a cool collaboration and bring out the rock side of MC. Steven Tyler mentioned loving to do a song with MC recently too. Jazmine Sullivan, Mike WiLL Made again, David Morales, The Dream for a song. Someone mentioned Santana and I think that would be amazing. I'd love something with a Latin flair or Hips Don't Lie or a sexy Latin beat. I'd love to see her work with someone lik Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys or Rick Nowels for a darker sound in terms of song mood. I'd like to see her look outside the box for at least one or two songs. Something unexpected or non predictable. As far as a jazzy cover, I always wanted to hear her do "Autumn Leaves". That song always makes me think of "Miss You Most" with the reference to the season and I think her voice would sound amazing and haunting on that song. "My Funny Valentine" would also fit MC.

I would love to hear her take on You Are Not Alone. Hearing MJ sing it makes me cry. I can only imagine the emotions she could stir up if she puts her all into it. This song is another reason I need her and R. Kelly to write together. He wrote the mess out of this song. Giving the song to MJ was just perfect.

Usually some members there are the first to throw shade at MCA but this time around they are showing us some love after the Liron comment. They have been saying the "crap" Liron is talking about is "the truth" and that Liron is a bum kisser and would continue doing so as long as she gets something out of it and some other stuff.

Few more requests for the upcoming album (74,414)

1) Since Mariah sometimes does covers, I'd love her to cover Michael's "You are not alone" or "Butterflies" or "Speechless". I know I've said this before but still putting it out there again. 2) For the roll out, please go on multiple high profile shows not just one. With "I Don't" I thought they'd push it more than they did since she was hosting multiple parties with radio and media personalities and there were rumors of remixes coming up and all but that didn't happen and there was only the Kimmel performance. She should book several shows and not like 6 months before the actual release because people lose interest but closer to the release, go on Fallon, Corden, Ellen and every show there is, and book interviews and live performances. Combine that with a high profile magazine cover like maybe get Vogue or Harper's Bazaar or any other high profile magazine and aim for the cover story. Also see if she can get some big name celebs with big instagram followings to do a countdown for her. 3) Get a radio deal.

This show of course, had to throw a little shade on the recent breakup topic. They were pretty tame about it, but one host said that M. needs to now go after Janet Jackson's "billionaire" ex. Brat had the nerve to say that M. doesn't go after "sloppy seconds". Both she and JP had no ink, let alone wet ink on their divorce decrees lol. So I thought that was a rather wack comeback, but at least she seemed to confirm this particular stunt is over.

Shrug. I say let the material and the music speak for itself. If Mariah focuses on her artistry, lyrics, production quality, and integrity it doesn't matter what the sub label is called.

This board is a mess, but I like it too. I wonder that now, hopefully, that Mariah is getting back to normalcy, if MDJ will reappear. They were gone just long enough to miss all the Stellar/Packer/Boytoy stunts of the past year and a half. Funny how that happened.

She looked thoroughly terrified and uncomfortable during the Kimmel performance, I definitely don't think that's a good look for a performance, especially a concert. However Mariah is more comfortable in front of her fans than she is on TV so I'm sure had it been not been on TV she would move more, but Anthony wasn't just a choreographer/dancer, he was the creative director, which includes more than dancing, plus he was the one who coined the now iconic chaise lounge lift and other lifts as well as easy steps for the show which is required especially when it comes to the more up beat songs. Not saying she should get Anthony back, but she definitely needs to move more than her Kimmel performance for an hour length concert which is a mix of ballads and up beat songs.
