Yes I will take perfumes and candybling over the sideshow and circuses any day. Lol.

Ya it's a question Edouard from France. Who are these "not to be messed with people" around Mariah? Because these are the only ones around her.

I'd also like to know who these people are. If she was still managed by Benny that comment would be valid but it's not when referring to Stella and family. Stella is incompetent.

She was told or promised she'd be the only female judge but Randy didn't get it in writing. Why do you think she fired him?

This coverage is/was caused by Nick 's comments. I'd also wager the author visited this board to see what Mariah's lambs think of their relationship. I've noticed a few articles that have said what a few of us have said when criticizing Mariah.

Mariah on Idol (74,162) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
By the time Mariah signed up for Idol, she boarded a ship that has been sinking since 2007. She did this because it was a very attractive deal at the time - a hefty paycheck in exchange of helping to find the next big star. However, as much as American Idol has been instrumental to the discovery of legitimate talents, I almost wish she signed on for The Voice instead. At the time, The Voice was significantly more popular than American Idol, and lets face it, the show has never been about the talent - it's always been about the coaches and their egos, which is pretty much why it has produced zero artists above the D list. Still, Mariah's presence on that show would have made more sense, not to mention the heightened competitiveness and actual coaching/involvement that goes into it would probably have given Mariah a better opportunity to share her knowledge rather than just giving critiques on the main show alone. It would have been a more interesting and enjoyable viewing experience. It'd also have been a better vehicle to promote #Beautiful, and MIAM would probably have become a different album. But then again, I guess things happen for a reason.

Mariah surrounds herself with people not to be toyed with? Do tell, who are these people? Stella? Tanaka? Mishka? You must be freaking kidding me.

Why is she releasing this? We have been wanting a concert DVD. SSF tour was a missed opportunity. You would think after New Years Eve the damage control would be putting out a live set where MC goes back to basics or at the least SSF performances. I will not purchase this unless it has 5 plus live performances and scenes other than the fake MW stuff.

Okay the censoring completely destroyed my post and makes it sound like I said bad things towards Céline. I'm not referencing Céline obviously .

Oh you like side scents and candybling, but not side shows and circuses? Same here. I like records, ribbons and Roc and Roe, but bats or rats and Russian reality show rejects got to go.

Same here. The makeup and perfumes are the only aide projects that seem to have been well thought out. Almost forgot the Christmas book. Hoping the AIFCIY cartoon is another well thought one.

Re: AI producers (74,142) (74,152) by Edouard from France
I believe Mariah agreed to do Idol on the condition that it would be a quality show. She saw an opportunity to reintroduce real artistry in the medium (hence her comments on the importance of songwritting) and was led to believe it would be all about the music. Instead she became part of a circus that she had no input on, that was no her at all. She probably felt trapped because, obviously, she could not get away from it once she had signed. I think it is incredibly violent to be put in that position where your image, everything you have worked for and stand for, is used and abused like that. No matter how many millions it represents. It must be a horrible feeling to be paid that much and to be denied the right to publicly complain about it. Because that wouldn't be PC of course. So she just went with it, no matter the cost. I think that's why Mariah believes she has to surround herself with people who are not to be toyed with. Mariah, women in general, are not being respected by the music business.

I'm not sure I was clear enough in my earlier post, especially regarding [...] whom I believe can't enounciate properly. Her diction sounds like yogourt more than English. The women I mentioned women are incredible women. I forgot Céline I'm sorry. [...] is so full of herself and so early in her [...] it's unbelievable. If you listen to Mariah's early interviews, you can sense that she holds her talent dear and that's she's proud of her artistry as a validation of who she is. Yet she never comes across as someone who has "arrived". She only allows to project that vibe now, more than 20 years into her career. And to be honest I don't mind. She's earned it

So are yall going to order on April 11th? I'm leaving it at the store. I'll use that money to get me some more of the pink perfume she made. I'm running low. The perfume is the only side deal I fully support. Lol.

The best judge on Idol (74,146) by Edward from USA
Mariah shouldn't have signed up to be a judge on Idol. Not all money is good money. She didn't sue them because she wasn't ever promised to be the only female judge on the panel. Had there been a clause on the contract stating so, she would've sued the hell out of them for sure. She should've just walked away with her millions and be done with it, but she was the first one that started throwing shades, nothing is ever her fault. She was there to judge based on her vast knowledge of music, yet she let her diva persona take over, like when she got late to one of the auditions, and then stated: "Dahling, If you want a diva, you have to pay the price." Well, if you play the diva role long enough, then you also have to pay the price, and you've been paying for a while now. Nicki is nowhere near Mariah's talent and knowledge of music, yet she was definitely a better judge. Mariah got lost in being nice all the time, and that's not what the competition was necessarily about. It's not about hurting people's feelings like Simon used to do sometimes, but it isn't about being afraid to say something that might make the contestants feel bad when they have clearly f*d up. Being the most influential figure in music to have ever sat on that panel, all eyes were on her and her expertise, but she fell flat and forgot why she was there. I don't think that was a 20 million job. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle, and just because Mariah portrays herself a victim of Idol, it doesn't mean she necessarily was. When Mariah kept things classy and didn't bite into bitchy questions, she was perceived better. But things keep getting worse, and it is not necessarily due to the company she keeps. Mariah sabotages Mariah. She's very well seasoned and experienced in the music business, so nobody is really using her as a puppet as some here tend to think.

Re: AI producers (74,141) (74,145) by Marissa from USA
Mariah made it clear from the beginning that her issue regarding the Nicki situation was about her being another female on the panel. It didn't matter if Nicki was a singer, composer, producer or rapper. Mariah wanted to be the only woman there. There could be as many men there as humanly possible, just not another woman. How no one sees this thought process as problematic is beyond me. Do you ever hear men saying, "I want to be the only man there or all bets are off"? Yes I think Nicki was wrong for completely coming unhinged on Mariah but I also think it wasn't fair for Mariah to be shady to her from the beginning just because she's a woman. When people say women are just as hard on other women as men are, this is the type of stuff they're talking about. Also, Simon and Randy were not singers and Paula could barely sing, so it's not like hiring Nicki was that much off the mark. The premise of the show was never about singers judging other singers. It was about people in the industry judging singers. If we're keeping it real Mariah was the first and last qualified person that they ever hired as a judge for AI.

Re: AI producers (74,142) (74,143) by RibbonB from USA
Yup, that is the bottom line. The minute Idol producers showed their hand, she should have stepped back, or gotten some kind of agreement before taping. She saw that mess coming. AI producers were definitely messy and disrespectful, but Mariah can't keep jumping into the shark tank and expect that others are going to help her, or "do right by her". They are expecting her to sink or swim. Mariah has to learn to stay out of dirty or shark infested waters especially when she has plenty or forewarning, or even a few hours or minutes of forewarning like on NYE. She has got to be in charge of herself and just say no.
