Re: American Idol producers attack Mariah (74,112) (74,117) by Martyn from England, UK
You can't criticise Nigel when Mariah has done nothing but slag the show off since she left. It's quite clear from comments Mariah has made since that her nose was put out of joint by not being the only female on the panel (ridiculous) and although Nicki was her usual, abhorrent self, I think we all know that Mariah was the source of the initial beef. Mariah has claimed that working on Idol was the "worst experience of her life". Well it sounds like she's had a pretty good life to me.

Re: American Idol producers attack Mariah (74,112) (74,116) by Musti from UK
Honestly, I don't believe that Nicki lost it for no reason. We all know M likes to demand things and to be given priority over everyone else. Maybe she never asked for a dozen white kitties, but it was said not long ago in an article that "everyone in the industry has their Mariah story". You don't get that kind of reputation for being an easy person. I'm not saying what Nicki did was right. Clearly she ended up making a fool of herself. But Mariah does ask for it sometimes.

Re: American Idol producers attack Mariah (74,112) (74,115) by Licia from USA
I can see Mariah being an issue. We all know she wasn't happy with another female being added. She expressed this many times. She's not the innocent victim and neither was Nicki. However, at this point it doesn't matter. Don't know why the AI producers are bringing this up now. They had plenty of time to bring this up after the season with Nicki and Mariah ended. If she really was the issue, why not say that then? Nigel is acting like a disgruntled ex boyfriend who wants to release tapes after being broken up for years. Now I'm just going to wait on the curse filled statement from the wicked stepmother. I might just cheer her on this time. Lol.

Re: Patricia Carey's "To Start Again" on YouTube (74,111) (74,114) by Edouard from France
It's interesting how, even though Pat and Mariah's voices are different, you can here they share their great sense of musicality. It's very apparent on the accoustic songs where Patricia mixes her operatic voice with more pop/country/traditionnal vocals. The fact that Mariah tends to create melodies meant to be sung in the highest keys is a direct influence from her mother's, I believe. Love it. It's also interesting to play Patricia's acccustic songs and Mariah's "Right to dream"/"Help me make it through the night"/"Vanishing"/"One Child"/"Oh Little Town of Bethlehem" back to back.

American Idol producers attack Mariah (74,112) by Sheila from United States
Nigel Lythgoe, who many will remember for producing Idol, candidly chimed in adding: "Nicki was not the problem. There are tapes buried in chainsaw." Nigel is a petty queen who 3 years after comes out complaining of this crap. American Idol sucked.

Wow, thanks for posting that. This is actually a pretty good album. Her voice really shines on the 3rd and 4th track. I really like her Habanera as well. It's impressive how she sings an opera standard then goes into an acoustic/pop sound on the next song. And she follows it up with a haunting Both Sides Now. Her voice doesn't have as many layers as Mariah's of course, but she sounds like a true artist.

Good press (74,109) by Will from England
I'm glad that she is getting good press for her OMT performance. Personally I think that it was 99% sung live. The only teeny tiny thing that I would have changed is to have not put "heartfelt performance" in the description. That's for others to write, not for the performer (or teen for that matter) to self-praise a performance.

Update on The Dream (74,108) by RibbonB from USA
Wow, just happened to google his name, wondering what he has been up to since working on Memoirs. Well he sure has been up to a lot. He has done a bit in music of course, but most surprising is he is now a father of seven children, by four moms no less, three of them wives at least. I guess it's good that he married most of them, even though he divorces at the drop of a baby it seems. His last two sons are named Heir and Lord. Sunday sharing. He did co-write Ribbon, so that is something.

Daley and Mariah (74,107) by T from USA
You want to hear current great R&B music with the most amazing lyrics and arrangement? You want to hear a direction that Mariah could definitely go and have all success in? An artist named Daley (who has defended MC on multiple occasions) is doing just that. Check out "Love & Affection", "Time Travel", "Be", "Until The Pain Is Gone". And picture Mariah singing lyrics like these. It will instantly transport you back to Daydream Mariah and the artist we all knew and loved. Let me know what you think.

I agree with everything you said Stacey. Lipped parts or not it's a beautiful performance and she did an amazing job. George would be proud.

Patricia Carey's "To Start Again" on YouTube (74,105) by MC1989 from Spain
Patricia Carey's album "To Start Again" is now on YouTube. I enjoyed listening to her cover of L'Habanera. I wonder if the dog in the album cover is one of those who where poisoned.

Source criticism (74,104) by Mort from Spain
That is a word people who claims to be lambs of Mariah needs to learn. I feel embarressed and so ashamed of this so called "lambs" out there bashing Mariahs decisions in life of who she should spend her life with. Mariah is 47 years old. She is an adult woman making her own decisions. If you don't approve then move on. You don't have to agree with her. You don't live her life. You have your own life to worry about. These people bashing her and Bryan are very sad and smallminded people who have serious selfesteem issues. Are you jealous? Go out there and live your life with your own book of law you set up to have for Mariah. Don't drag her into your [censored] life. Btw there is a name for those "lambs"; [censored] and for the record she don't [sic] know you.

She did a great job. As far as lipping parts, it's no big deal. We all know she has lipped for years. All singers do it. The key is mixing live notes with the lipped parts without the average ear bring able to tell the difference. She did that with this performance and she came off sounding great.

You're so right. If, in the future, we get even a subtle hint from her as to them taking advantage of her, I won't even be able to say anything because my eyes will be too busy rolling.

Re: Mariah's money (74,098) (74,099) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
People do like her, any one who has ever met her always go on and on about how she's such a sweetheart (strangers and fans, interviewers and all). Her friends, people who really care about her talk about how she's such a great friend and would do anything for her friends, so yes Mariah can have many friends without having to buy them like you said, I think the main problem here is that she needs "constant companionship" and she needs a "24/7 Yass Queen" entourage who'll praise her. It possibly comes from her childhood feelings of abandonment and not feeling special. So that's a big commitment and most people can't be expected to always surround her and shadow her everywhere, like Lee or JD or whatever, they have their own lives and careers and families and all. Heck even I don't meet my friends every day even though we live pretty close. So that's where these paid leeches get the entry. Anyways Mariah can do what she wants with her money but down the line if I hear a "The Bulochnikovs took advantage of me" interview, I'll be like "Girl, you brought it on yourself. Basically invited them to come leech off you." Haha.

Re: Mariah's money (74,097) (74,098) by Lila from United States
Eek, she's multiplying lol. Yes. That's basically the biggest problem with the whole thing. It's even bigger than money because it seems like a case of low self-esteem. Any person should know that if you're a good person, which I think Mariah is, then there is someone out there who will like/love you, for you. You don't have to pay for friendship or love.

Re: Mariah's money (74,096) (74,097) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I'm not interested how Mariah spends her money. But I think it's very unhealthy to pay for false friends. Yesterday I saw a woman in Woolworth store who looked like Stella. Lol. The same leather-jacket, hair and of course the blush. Anyway I wish Mariah would spend quality time with true friends and beloved ones. I miss the time where her friends and people around her looked so down to earth and really nice.

Re: Mariah's money (74,095) (74,096) by Lila from United States
No one has said or alluded to the conclusion that Mariah shouldn't be friends with people who aren't rich. What's being suggested is that she make friends with people who have their own money, doesn't matter the amount, and lives that are not dependent on hers, who she can still call up and have a talk with or dinner with, and who care about her day and life even if she doesn't take them on vacations or buy them fancy stuff. That's the simplest solution. Another upside is that, a couple years down the road, we don't have to hear about her complaining, again, about who's taken advantage of her. Also, how is it "slumming" if Mariah goes on someone else's ride but not if you or the rest of these leeches, already doing so, go on Mariah's ride? I'm sure there's someone out there that would let her ride simply because she's Mariah Carey. James Packer, anyone? If it's "slumming" when Mariah does it to someone else, it's slumming when others do it to her. Mariah can and will do what she wants but I'm still going to call it like I see it, regardless. So, I have no problem acknowledging the fact that she gives people the keys to take advantage of her but at the end of the day they are still taking advantage of her.

Mariah's money (74,095) by Andrew from UK
Given that most of us will inevitably make our friends in life out of the people we meet in various jobs along the way, Mariah will do the same. She's incredibly wealthy and a globally-renowned celebrity. Is she supposed to somehow hang out with other multi-millionaires in a multi-millionaires' club that meets in secret? If she meets people she likes who aren't rich should she not be friends with them? If the simplest solution is often the right one, fair it is to say that it is far simpler (and a lot more fun) for Mariah to take people along with her on her ride than for her to disembark and go slum it on other people's. As long as they're not idiots in return, like Dick Cannon, then who cares? It's her money. Sometimes I'm not particularly thrilled with how she makes it, but it's hers, nevertheless. And I'm sure she doesn't need anyone worrying about who she spends it on. And if she wants to take me to Capri, I'll kiss her ass and fan her face faster than you can say "f*ck you, Andrew" (by which time I will have thrown Stella in the ocean and be sipping sangria, singing "X-Girlfriend" at the top of my lungs to drown out her pleas of rescue: "She's not yours anymore don't you know, you gotta let her go, let her go, let her go.")

Celine and Zendaya (74,093) by Malcolm from Asia
Can Mariah be inviting and friendly like this with other female entertainers? I'm just in awe how Celine is aging gracefully, she's full of elegance and grace. This kind of gig is what Mariah should be doing and not that Mariah's World trash, watching clips like this from her colleagues makes me mad at how Mariah is wasting her time from all of this bullshit. Ditch the antics and cheap people.
