Re: Mariah not having breast reduction surgery (73,949)
by Lara from Middle East
| |
|

I wish she does the surgery, not for her weight because I don't care for her shape, but for health issues and for her breathing control. Everyone keeps saying her voice changed around 98, almost the same time she had the augmentation and I feel it made her loose (partially) control over her voice. It is well known that Maria Callas (ironically same name) had major changes after her weight change.

One thing I like about the remix of I Don't (73,948)
by Edouard from France
| |
|
|
I like the fact that the "I know you love me part" is shortened in the end and not repeated twice. I like this part, don't get me wrong, but I always thought it kind of slowed down the original version. I also like the fact that it's not repeated twice, before and after YG's rap so that Mariah's last chorus comes earlier and is even more impactful. IMHO

The #Beautiful remixes were fire. Loved the one with Jeezy and I was so excited to hear the other snippet which sounded like he 90s remixes. Unfortunately those all went to waste. I wish she'd just leak it or put it up on her YouTube.

The fateful fall (from grace) (73,946)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
I was just thinking the other day that her fall during the filming of the "Beautiful" remix video is around where her career downfall also began. She had a reasonably successful song that you could hear on the radio with a comparatively good video (to what we get now), she was recording a resung 90s style dance mix (she played a snippet during a radio interview), had that Jeezy remix and then things started to fall apart for her. She was sidelined by a serious injury for a while, album delayed and delayed again, divorce from Nick, album didn't perform well and wasn't promoted probably because of personal issues and she went into a dark place and went and made a (management) deal with the devil (all the pun intended) and the rest is history. Yes she had a few successful stints here and there with her shows but her career hasn't really recovered since.

I have read in the past Mariah's line for Mac was the biggest selling for any artist, if this is true wouldn't Mac want to keep collaborating with her? Or maybe I am thinking way too soon.

I agree with this 100%. I mean this whole "remix" is just odd, the whole way it came out would of been cool if it was a new single, but the song was done last month. I am pretty sure someone is letting her think she is doing great etc, and the song isn't over. But something will happen eventually and Mariah will wake up and realize everything is a hot mess

Mimi and Remy (73,943)
by Edward from USA
| |

|
Mariah took "I Don't" and turned it into "I Don't Know WTF I'm Doing" remix. With all the pictures and exposure Mariah has been getting lately, this new remix will bubble under the Hot 100 in a year or two. She should now sign to be one of the Real Housewives, since music is definitely not one of her priorities anymore. If she's releasing singles now, well, without the pressure of an album on her shoulders, there's no reason for her to keep putting out utter shit. As a seasoned singer and lyricist, she's supposed to be getting better no worse. Ok, the voice is not way near where it used to be, but that's not reason for her to keep putting tracks out there that couldn't even compete with Jennifer Lopez, and that is sad to say. At this point is not even about the voice, it is about the quality over all, and quality she isn't giving. But let's be positive, hold hands, and request, request, and request. Maybe they'll play it 2034.

The point is Eminem "The Warning" was just as bad of a diss (or worse than) "Shether", and that didn't stop Nicki from working with Eminem after her and MC collaborated and allegedly became cool. So what's the big deal when Mariah works with someone that dissed Nicki? So what that they both have valid distain for her? It's not a crime for them to do a "half baked" song together if that's what they want to do. Why do you even care about them teaming? As if Nicki is some angelic victim. Nicki is petty and shady as hell her damn self. Do you remember that time Nicki dragged Mariah on Twitter then went to an industry party and took pictures cheesing with JLo and Tommy. I bet you thought that was just coincidental. Also I always thought Eminem's part on "Romans Revenge" could have easily been about Mariah, but that's neither here or there.

Nicki and Eminem collaborated in 2010, a good couple of years before her "feud" with Mariah. Rihanna, who Mariah still praises worked with Eminem too, so what's your point? I mean had Nicki gotten with Eminem on a shady track after her fight with Mariah, it would have been a different story, where it could have been made to look like Nicki is teaming up with Eminem to bash Mariah. But that's not the case, if anything it was a diss track for Li'l Kim. Mariah herself has acknowledged that she thinks Eminem is a talented guy, so it's not surprising that Nicki, who was a relatively new rapper at that time, would want to collaborate. This is in no way the same as Mariah suddenly dropping a random track with Remy (which sounds amateurish as heck production wise) during a time when this whole feud is hot news and both Mariah and Remy have history with Nicki and now they team up suddenly on this half baked song. Like they wanted to cash in on this so fast that they didn't even get the time to write a darn new song to release? Come on now.

Is it hard to believe that maybe she supported him because him being elected was historic and more than likely won't happen again in the US? Also she did post a few tweets supporting Hilary. Shame on you Mariah for supporting a historical moment. She should have done a song for that Oompa Loompa we have now so she won't seem biased. Lol. Anyway, clearly whomever wrote this article doesn't pay attention to social media or just didn't do proper research because they would not have added her to the list.

Celine Mariah Aretha (73,938)
by Mirage_Nunez from America
| |
|
|
Shady or not, Mariah's point is very valid. Generally speaking it's just in bad taste to try to outshine someone while singing with them on their own song. Yes you sing to compliment them, and sing well on your parts, but to go toe to toe with them, and try to take over the last note in the climax is kind of ungracious and competitive. Carole Kings commentary on the performance spoke to Aretha "hogging" the song and Celine vocally "standing up to her", but in reality they both didn't allow Carole to get a verse in and was taking over the song. Now it did sound amazing (my favorite rendition of that song to be honest), but the point still remains. Mariah was never a competitive singer/duet partner even in her prime she was humble and gracious about her voice, so I doubt that she was jealous of Celine's voice being in better condition that night or whatever. Now I am a Celine fan, love her, thinks she's angelic, and completely lovable (but nobody's completely perfect), so this is not hate toward her at all. I just think every diva has a "diva trait" and perhaps competitive singing was hers that night. And that's okay, it's forgivable. (Actually I was never mad about it. You don't have to be super defensive of her about this topic. I will say I believe Celine did take the cristism well because when she sung Emotions with Destinys Child a few years later she actually held back and allow Beyonce to take the high note at the end.) See, still a wonderful person.

Remixes (73,937)
by Manny from U.S.
| |
|
|
I always wondered why "I still Believe - Pure Imagination" was not part of the Remixes album? It's my favorite remix. I was so disappointed when I saw it was not part of it. I also like "My All - Stay Awhile" and "Thank God I found you (Make it Last)". The last remix I actually liked was the HATEU remix. I actually didn't know there was a remix of it until years later after album was released. That sample "My Boo" brought such nostalgia. You can tell she took her time with those remixes. Now, it is like a copy and paste job. I am insulted. Does Mariah think we will not notice? I was going to rant on Stella but it's Friday. Next time I guess.

Mariah and success (73,936)
by Todd from Sydney, Australia
| |
|
|
Does anybody else ever get the feeling that Mariah is under the impression her singles are really successful? That she's maybe getting fed Photoshopped Billboard screenshots from her team? And constantly being told by that headlice of a manager that she's at the top of her game and the charts? I can't help but think if she was aware that "I Don't" pretty much disappeared from iTunes charts overnight, she wouldn't have even considered this remix, or the one with Bieber for "Infinity". Both could have been called "The Flogging of the Dead Horse Mix".

Remy vs. Nicki (73,935)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
So I was late to the party, and just found out Mariah actually does watch Wendy Williams's show (even though she refuses to go on it lol) because it was Wendy who suggested Mariah hook up with Remy just to spite Nicki. My problem with this scenario is, it does come across as Mariah trying to use the situation for relevance, she should've stayed out of this beef (you're music royalty Mariah, not ratchet and classless like those two, act as such). Secondly, the remix isn't that good either. The comments on Facebook are brutal.

Well didn't Nicki collaborate with Emimen on "Romans Revenge" after doing "Up Out My Face" with Mariah? That's why I could care less if people think it's a shady move, because whether it is or not Mariah has every right to collaborate with whoever she wants to on a song. I haven't heard the remix yet, don't think I really need to to be honest. I do love the original so that's enough for me.

It's the recordings on wax that live on forever and get rediscovered by generation after generation, even long after we're all gone ("All I want for Christmas" for example). Anything after that is just extra. And Mariah's smart and knows that. Not live performances, nor television appearances. 10 years from now the television programs of now won't even be remembered.

It's worse than that. Her remixes for Memoirs like "Inseparable" and "Ribbon" were cut and paste jobs but they blended in well, they added to the songs and didn't seem pointless. The remixes actually sounded like collaborations, a duet, a back and forth. This one just sounds like they abruptly stop the song mid way, Remy does her verse and then the song abruptly starts again and the verse adds nothing to the song at all. Like I said in a previous post, literally sounds like Mishka used a free online software to just put in a sound clip phoned in by Remy and then released it.

The remix is beyond trash and sounds like something they just recorded on their iPhones and used those online amateur softwares to just paste it on the original track. Pre 2015 Mariah would shudder at the thought of this being passed off as a remix. Even WYM is a gem compared to this (WYM wasn't all that bad, just too many features) since at least she bothered to change things up and re-record her vocals. This is by far the most embarrassing stunt pulled by Mariah since now there is no doubt she wanted to dive into the Nicki drama. No one can tell me this was just an artistic decision, because where is the art though?

Honestly I'd love nothing more than for Stella to continue being more stupid so that all her future job prospects dry out but that would affect Mariah more since no one gives 2 craps about Stella's trash and her equally opportunistic family members. All I hope now is Mariah realizes what Stella is doing to her brand and just changes things up.
