Re: Wasted songs (73,754) (73,783) by Andrew from UK
Missed you in this. Genuinely relieved that somebody else is extolling the virtue of "Cruise Control" over "Migrate" from E=MC2. The latter is, I would say, bordering on a master-ful, ie. clever and on point in its delivery. But "Cruise Control" is just get-your-tits out crazy fun. I defy anyone. It to smile and sing along. "Bottle broken. Think I'm joken?" Just so much fun. Like "YDKWTD". Mariah has so much fun inside of her, she knows how to make it go off. Listed to "Meteorite" today because of the board and don't understand why I've been ignoring it. It's massively fun. And the question would be this: Why won't Mariah "do EDM"? Why won't Mariah do disco? Why can't she do what Madonna did with "Confessions"? "Meteorite" is probably an expert at music being told to create the perfect disco/dance track. To all those who say Mariah needs a "Right to Dream" about R&B and jazz. Well, she can do most stuff. But people want to hear party music. And she ain't bad at it. Somebody lock JD in a closet.

Re: Madonna's classic is not Drowned World (73,780) (73,782) by Andrew from UK
Toots, are you back from the brink? Are you with us, again? Lol honestly, you may be right here (I approve your message). I listen to "Take A Bow" if ever I'm in a search-my-soul drive. And I listen to it more than "Drowned World". I guess that poses a really interesting question: Is Mariah's masterpiece, to you, or anyone, the song you listen to most, or is it something you can, yourself, critically acclaim? I would think they would be the same thing. But then I listen to some Mariah songs more than those I would consider to be masterpieces. What is Mariah's masterpiece? And is it the song each person listens to the most? If it isn't, then what makes it the masterpiece?

Madonna's classic is not Drowned World (73,780) by Sheila from United States
It's her Bedtime stories era - beautifully written songs, pure funk and great vocals.

Re: Celine Dion vs Mariah Carey (73,759) (73,778) by Andrew from UK
Totally agree. Should always celebrate the virtues of other artists and admit when they are better than Mariah. But I can slag Mariah off: I won't hear it from Celine fans. Certainly not Whitney fans. And Madonna fans can suck it. Even though I like all those artists. Usually end up with: most of Celine's catalogue is saccharine and cringe, Whitney's catalogue is primarily 80's and early 90's synth shit, and Madonna writes lyrics that are bad. And "bad" will always rhyme with "sad". Or "mad". Or something else she Googled to rhyme with "bad". One day, someday, "ooh someday", I'll find a moment of peace. But not today.

Re: Singles mean? (73,773) (73,777) by Andrew from UK
"Drowned World" is probably Madonna's masterpiece. Definitely not "Masterpiece" lol. I love those songs, too. "RTD" should not be mentioned in the same sentence as "Petals", "Looking In", "TTEOT", "Twister" and all those other moody, brooding songs that come from a dark place but play out in the light. "RTD" is proper slit-your-wrists, jump-off-the-cliff fabulousness. It's so depressing. Suggest if you listen to that on repeat, you will stay single forever. Come to London and I'll dump Eric and date you, with the gayness that Toots has awarded me. Or Berlin. Might be moving there for work soon. If you don't like a wholly sausage and beer based diet, or people who tell you something is funny instead of laughing - "Ja, that's so funny, ja" - then maybe it won't work.

Re: Decades concept CD/90's R&B (73,767) (73,776) by RibbonB from USA
Speaking of 90's R&B, it really was an epic time for R&B, the 80's even better. I think the 1960's and 70's were the most iconic decades for R&B and music in general. Thank God for YouTube, now we have a chance to catch up on so many of the greats. A great theme project for Mariah would be to do covers of classic songs of the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's through the current time, or better yet for her to craft new songs herself or enlist top writers to craft songs for her in the style of those respective decades. If Swifty stole her idea, I hope she didn't have this one brewing, but she can use it if she'd like a challenge. Whatever she does next, I would love for it to include live instruments, live band, a couple with an orchestra, etc.

Re: Tevin Campbell (73,767) (73,775) by RibbonB from USA
Tevin was never that big in the US, but he did have a couple of nice moderate hits. "Let Me Talk" or "Can We Talk" is pretty cool and his other big hit, I can't even recall the name. He had the support of Prince and Quincy Jones, but he fizzled after he crossed puberty.

Re: New Pics (73,770) (73,774) by RibbonB from USA
Roc and Roe are always adorable. But the "leprechauns" though? I wonder where Miss Pat was? That green car was ugly AF, but Mariah's dress was kind of cute. At least it has been a rather quiet week, with limited drama. Crustella was ever present of course, looking like a bish from the play "Wicked".

Re: Singles mean? (73,753) (73,773) by Randy from USA
Andrew a lot of my problems with music in general is the ridiculous obsession with love as a topic. Now I may be bitterly single, but even if I had someone my life wouldn't revolve around romance. Think about the countless albums in which tracks 1-14 all deal with love. There's a lot more that happens in life. So of course that's why I listen to those songs the most. I also tend to like dark music too. From the beginning, MC has given us at least one song per album not about love. Those are always my favorites. I probably do sound like a broken record pitching these songs because this is an MC site so along with Right To Dream , Looking In, Outside, Petals, Languishing, I'm obsessed with Dixie Chicks Top Of The World, Sarah McLachlan's Do What You Have To Do, Jewel's Who Will Save Your Soul, Madonna's Drowned World/Subsititute For Love, Janet Jackson's Velvet Rope, Kelly Clarkson's Because of You, Adele's Million Years Ago. Maybe I am creepy lol.

Re: Miss you, isn't weird? (73,771) (73,772) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Oh I loved the Pepsi ringtones. I wish some of it were "real" songs with 3 or 4 minutes. "The waiting too long blues" and all the others just show how creative MC is. She has so many unreleased songs that should get recognized by non-fans not only the number ones.

Miss you, isn't weird? (73,771) by Edward from USA
It's very weird that after TEOM, Mariah came with three very decent tracks for the re-release, one of which would be the second #1 from that album. Around that time Mariah was pretty busy traveling everywhere with promotions and endorsement deals. She even created some epic ringtones for Pepsi. Now it seems to be that Mariah can't produce one decent track, by her previous standards of course. Lots of lost opportunities: Justin Bieber, Empire, Mariah's World (as a vehicule). "Miss You" should've definitely been a regular track on Charmbracelet, unlike other Mariah's leftovers, like Secret Love and Skydiving, Miss You is a track that don't have to go grow on you, it's just that great.

MC celebrating St. Patrick's Day with Bryan (see MCArchives.com) and also the adorable Dembabies. She looks stunning and almost younger than Bryan. Full length moment right here. MC being driven off my the chauffeur/help as RibbonB likes to call him haha. Another cute moment with the babies (see MCarchives.com). Mariah driving even though her license expired haha. You know they aren't dating when your bodyguards help you get in the car instead of your partner (see MCArchives.com), haha.

Tevin Campbell (73,767) by Martyn from England, UK
I was watching a live Mariah performance on YouTube a few weeks ago, and somebody mentioned in the comments that Mariah and Tevin Campbell were the best singers of the 90s. I'd never heard of him before and I checked him out. His music is so beautiful. I think he must've been bigger in the US than the UK, but his albums are sublime. They remind me a little bit of Trey Lorenz's debut. I miss 90s R&B so much.

7. Cruise control

I will stop by 10. Mariah has so many to list. For bonus I choose "Bringin on the heartbreak". That song should have made number one in Europe.

St. Patrick's Day pic (73,765) by Licia from USA
The kids were adorable and Mariah looked nice. I'm dying laughing at them calling Stella a witch. They didn't say her name, but one can only assume that they are talking about her. I'm ignoring that other person. "I don't know him." Lol. [Webmaster: Calling Stella a witch was not in the original article, I've added it, because they said toy boy was not there.]

Re: What happened to Mariah's personality? (73,752) (73,763) by B from USA
She's always been the quirky diva that she is today and has been since 1997. Prior to that she was micromanaged and advised to have no personality whatsoever because bland sells. Your only redeeming quality is your looks, if that's really you in your avatar.

Re: Celine Dion vs Mariah Carey (73,703) (73,759) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
This is my biggest issue with "fandoms". I don't see the point in fighting and trying to prove why (insert artist name) is better than others. My take on it is there is room for everybody to do their thing without feeling threatened. There's no need to diminish Celine or her musical contributions to prove some kind of loyalty to Mariah. I adore Mariah, but don't understand the fan base competition stuff. You should never have to put others down, or diminish their success, to prove you are a fan. It"s ridiculous. If you love many artists at once, it doesn't mean there is less love and appreciation for Mariah. Would you go through life only eating one food? No. Lol. And chocolate ice cream doesn't call out a "bad fan" question your loyalty or try to prove chocolate is the better choice if cookies and cream is also in the bowl. Lol.
