Re: Celine Dion performance (76,062) (76,069) by Bill from the UK
I've never really paid much attention to Celine Dion. I know a lot here are fans of hers, but personally I've always found her a bit bland. However, I do of course acknowledge and appreciate that she is a very gifted and intelligent singer. That said, the Billboard performance struck me as odd, if only because it sounded like she was singing with cotton wool in her mouth until the final chorus kicked in.

Celine lip syncs all the time. I think we all can agree on that. The thing is Celine uses technology to her advantage so well that the average ear can't tell the difference. Her use of prerecorded vocals/backing tracks is perfect. I would also add Celine's team is on top of things so performances go off without too many problems.

Celine Dion at Billboard 2007 (76,067) by Edward from USA
I finally got to see Celine Dion perform "My Heart Will Go On" at Billboard, and it was a beautiful performance. She sung MHWGO in a lower key, but the woman definitely has such confidence that reminds me of Whitney Houston in her glory days. I think she used some pre-recorded track for part of the climax, but the blending was perfect. Had she used the vocals from the CD, it would've been noticeable. The respect people in the audience showed was almost palpable. I wish Mariah would give a performance like this sometime soon. But everything would have to be on point, from the prodcution, dress, voice, confidence to the lipping. I don't see why some people hate on Celine as if by hating on her Mariah would be doing better or something. I'm actually glad we still have Celine around, she doesn't sing like she used to, but she makes the best of what he has.

Re: MTV Unplugged article (76,045) (76,066) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"Critics praised her charisma and the way she interacted with her audience. So yes: Mariah had long since established herself as a singer, but MTV Unplugged cemented her as a pop star." That's so true. She showed everybody that she's not only a studio-singer. The version of "Can't let go" is so good, love her warm tones there and I even love her speaking voice so much. She sounded so sweet and humble. 22-year old Mariah was showing the world that she only had begun to reign the charts.

It's good that the celebtity's are donating all the money. The music was not my taste and I still don't like Ariana as an artist. I think she's a typical "Disney star" like Miley Cyrus but I'm sorry for this girl that she's experienced such a horrible thing. And of course I have a lot of respect that she was doing this concert. To blame Mariah that she wasn't there, I think it's not fair. I remember the tribute concert for 9/11 and Mariah did a great job, all the singers were great back then. When I listen to "Never too far" I always think of the beautiful Hero medley she did. Goosebumps moments. Music is really a sign for peace and hope even in the darkest hours.

Re: Celine Dion performance (76,056) (76,064) by Edward from USA
Mariah should get on RuPaul's "Lipsynch for Your Life" class. RuPaul's Celine's coach. That's why she's that good at lipping. Thank God Mariah is not covering her face with her arms every time a lipping part is about to happen, and she doesn't spin like a spinning wheel either anymore, that would give her up every time. Those days of dubbing are gone for her, that's why she's usually exposed, not that she didn't do it in the past.

She didn't lip the beginning and she dodged every high note and avoided every chest thumping vocal run.

I didn't have a Tower Records in the town I grew up in. We had the Record Store. It sold Mariah's singles for outrageous prices because they knew we'd buy them regardless. I'm just glad she always included B-sides and remixes so her fans weren't cheated.

Since Memoirs Mariah's songs have required more than one listen to make a lasting impression with the exception of #Beautiful.

Why Mariah gets singled out (76,059) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
The answer to this equation is simple her diva attitude and defensive ways get her the target on her back to be singled out nowadays but on a side note the press has always given MC a hard time maybe because of her connections in the industry earlier on. But I to agree and say that MC along with some other artists have always been judged more harshly.

First off we don't know one another personally to assume anything about each other. We are all entitled to state our different opinions here regarding MC as this is what this platform is dedicated to. My statement was made based off constant negative comments made about Mariah here not your comment specifically but I guess you felt the need to respond to my comment because it describes you. Honestly I have no problem with anyone who posts here but I feel that for anyone myself included if we have come to a point where we don't connect with Mariah as a person or artist it is time to move on and post on another platform of the artist or artists we identify with instead of coming here to post negativity all the time. With that there said, I again say nothing against you or anyone just stating my thoughts. Enjoy your day.

Infinity - it grew on me (76,057) by ezio_a_da_f from Belgium
Yesterday I was listening Infinity again. I have to say that I didn't do much for me when it released 2 years ago. I have to say it grew on me since a few weeks. It is maybe not an instant MC-classic one, but it has more potential than it seems on first listening. The lyrics are good, not great, but good enough. But vocaly it has some great moments.

She's really that pro in lip syncing like it's beyond. I hope Mariah will signed up for a workshop from her, it's unfair that she always takes the blame lmao.

Re: 49 cents (76,051) (76,055) by Malcolm from Asia
I ask because I read an article that Mariah is a "queen of 49 cents", that her #1 songs were "manipulated" to turn it from flop to hit. Just curious but if that's the case that's fine, even current pop stars do it too, like Niall Horan for example, I don't probably see his singles in iTunes charts without the discounted icon lol.

One Love Manchester, no MC after attacks Brussels (76,054) by ezio_a_da_f from Belgium
I did not see the concert, but I think it was a nice thing to do. If only Mariah did this for Belgium after the bombings in Zaventem en Maalbeek. Normally her concert was on the 27th of March 2016 in Brussels. But she cancelled it. Do not get me wrong: I get it why she canceled it. But it was also a missed opportunity to visit Brussels afterwards, some few weeks/months later. Still waiting, after more than a year has passed. And please dear lambs, I am not trying to offend anyone. It was just some things I was thinking about, concidering past events in Europe.

B I used to buy maxi singles for $4.99 usually. Tower Record, that was their regular price. I miss that place, it was like my second home. Fantasy was $1.99 though.

Re: 49 cents (76,039) (76,051) by enwar00 from usa
Just so you know there were tons of other singles by many other artists that were discounted as well. And at that price. This was not specific to Mariah's singles. It annoys me that she gets singled out, especially with Loverboy. If anything these discounts just showed how much of a rip off it was to pay close to $4 for a single. Back to your question, Fantasy was discounted as well. I can't remember if Dreamlover was or not since I was so young when I bought that.

When someone posts an opinion you don't agree with, your first response is to tell them not to come here anymore. That's very mature, Gee. .

Re: 49 cents (76,039) (76,049) by B from USA
The only singles I bought that was .49 cent was Loverboy. Mariah's single were usually $1.29 in Ohio. Those only included the album version of the song and another song from the album or a previous album. Her maxisingles would sell for between $13 to $20. I paid $0.99 for Honey but every other single on the shelves were the same price except maxi singles. I've read that a company that owned different record stores that would do that. When Loverboy was on sale for .49 so was Bootylicious.

Celine Dion performance (76,048) by Tyler from USA
I love me some Celine Dion and have been told numerous times to watch the Billboard performance. I know I'm super late on this but am I missing something? How in the hell did anyone not know she lipped the entire thing? If Mimi would have done this on a TV production it would of been stoning. At least when Mimi lips it's literally just the climax. Just shocking to see how harsh and more critical people are of her.

Manchester events (76,047) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
While I am happy it was a success let's not come here and insult Mariah because she was not apart of today's events for all we know she was not probably even asked to be apart. On another note let's not forget the many times she has been apart of such events. A tribute to heroes 2001 as her career was going down the tubes she put on a brave face and still performed. This is what Ariana was supposed to do since the tragedy happened at her concert. I have to say Mariah's actions as of late have not been the brightest but at this point if you feel you have lost faith in Mariah or simply have out grown her move on instead of coming here day in and day out just to say how horrible and irrelevant Mariah is.
