Re: Mariah signing to Parkwood Ent. (73,480) (73,545)
by Mercury from United States

Mariah's previous creative director, Anthony Burrel, lead the charge in the Parkwood collaboration. Anthony has a professional history with Beyonce/Parkwood and convinced Mariah of the benefits of employing a creative services agency. Communications began late last year and the negotiations were nearly completed in December. Beyonce was extremely excited about signing Mariah as a client, she even endorsed Mariah's Christmas show to "seal the deal". But negotiations halted after the NYE performance and Anthony's dismissal. After Beyonce's Grammy performance, Parkwood received new treatment requests for several of Mariah's upcoming projects including a rebranding campaign and fashion mood-boards.

I echo your sentiment. Most of the fans who experienced her glamour, status, and class in the 90's feel exactly the same way. I don't know one of her fans from back then who didn't feel excitement when her music was about to come out. A single from Mariah Carey wasn't just a rushed half-cooked song, it was a production. There was something for everybody on her CD singles. The Heartbreaker single was amazing, we got "regular" and "no-rap" versions, then we got three excellent dance tracks, it was fire. Everything was so well calculated, promotion was on point, she could do no wrong. But those were the days when she had real professionals helping her build her brand and making her protect that which would make her the star that she was, her voice. Now, she has a bunch of sycophants in her team and many yasss-queen fans destroying what's left of her brand. And who's the common denominator in all this? Well, Mariah is. She's a musical genius, but she's also her worse enemy. Mishka says "but you have a nice ass", and her ego gets the best of her clouding her judgment. Her first f-up was not taking care of what once was considered national treasure, her voice. I will always resent her for that. I expected her to have gone through changes like any other human being would, but not like this. It infuriates me when she yells a note nowadays and she thinks she's slaying or producing a pleasant sound. But oh well, those were the days. All these past few songs "Infinity", "Infamous", and "I Don't" seem such a let down compared to what we know the woman is capable of. I wish she had retired after her Merry Christmas II You album. End of rant.

Not surprised. Mimi is a wreck now. She had a permissive mother so she's a permissive mother. She not not a good one either. It shows. She may love them no doubt of course but they need to be in a stable environment. In school. Not "home schooled". With kids their own age. She needs to quit the traveling and take a break for five years. She's a mess. I don't like this incarnation of Mariah Carey. I'll stick to classic vintage Mariah Carey. She needed and needs a Tommy Mottola to guide her, protect her and yes put her in check. She never would have become [...] even with all her talent if it wasn't for him. Period. She doesn't have the self control. Like a lot of artists. You know how many great talents are out there, some better than her and any of the greats we know of who will never be know [...] they didn't have the guidance and self control. [...] She is lucky and blessed to have been given the life and career she has. Otherwise she'd still be a struggling middle aged singer trying to make it singing in clubs. It's being ruined by this no good scheming "manager".

I think her vocal delivery on the Charmbracelet album was mandated by the label to make her as appealing as possible. She even dressed and acted more ladylike with poise and class.

Once upon a time (73,539)
by Tijl from Belgium

I have been on the nostalgia train all week, watching old performances and videos of Mariah on YouTube. "New" old stuff keeps poping up on a daily basis and I have to say. Once upon a time she was beyond this world. Especially during the Rainbow era, Mariah was a music mogul's wet dream. She embodied the concept of a super popstar as a powerhouse vocalist and songwriter with an amazing repertoire and hundreds of awards to match that reputation. On top of that her voice was still amazing despite the vocal chords. In my opinion it just added extra colouration to her songs. She looked like a supermodel (check out her rendition of Mariah's Theme on the Blockbuster awards show) and she oozed unpretentious glamour. I will always love her as I am a loyal fan for twenty years now and I don't want to play the role of pity party, but I do miss that artist. And then again - I often wonder - maybe so does she. Imagine being a global superstar with A levels in every aspect of that position. There will always come a time when the crown has to be handed over to a new generation. Unfortunately that new generation hasn't got by far what she presented abundantly in her heyday but the world changes. Thank you Mariah for those wonderful years of joy, drama, glamour and for being the soundtrack to my equally tumultuous last twenty years. Can I just please ask you to end it on a high note - pun intended. I enjoy you, appreciate you, love you always. A butterfly from Belgium.

MImi L. here is a blind likely regarding when Anthony got fired/left. He was the last remaining friend associate from her past. Boynaka is a current Stella approved employee. Back to my "Get Out" theory. Poor M. Interestingly enough, Anthony does a lot of work for Bey obviously through Parkwood. Will her be back in the mix for the shortened Lionel tour and Vegas?

The pictures are gorgeous. If they would have cropped out Banaka Tanaka I would be much happier. Lol I don't think Mariah would put Bad and Boujee as a hash tag. Most 12 year olds like that song so that was definitely the child posting for Mariah. Lol.

Andrew, Mariah and Tanaka look great together visually, but the supposed relationship is what looks to me like mother and son or nephew and aunt, or maybe employer and employee. I'm 100% supportive or women and cougar love. I don't see anything wrong with it, but Mariah and Tanaka's relationship is as real as Molly was Mariah's assistant.

Edward, that is very unenlightened of you, I'm disappointed. Look, times have changed. Some older women like younger men and some younger men like, well, some younger men like superstar millionaires hah. Me? I'm hoping my boyfriend gets good ad revenues from this here website or I'm off. I actually think Mariah and Tanaka look pretty cute together. Rather him than a wannabe rapper in a blue smurf suit. It may be that it's actually a real relationship but you'd just never guess it because of the way Mariah has represented herself in recent times. It's hard to take anything about her seriously anymore, even, sadly, the music.

Edouard, don't let anybody discourage you. You keep being positive. Just because they exposed you as not being from France shouldn't stop you from doing what you do for our beloved Mariah. You, as Mariah's manager, empowered her to use her middle finger in ways she hadn't ever used it before, so creative. About your sweet daughter Mishka, do not let these gremlins here get to you. She's doing just fine. Rather than other people giving her alcohol, you should be the one to introduce her to it. She's 13, girls these days start at 11. Thank you for Mariah's World, thank for Tanaka. I Don't is doing just fine, it's gaining airplay, and maybe next year it will pick up enough points to get to be a No. 1. Edouard or Stella, who cares. Don't hide anymore, be yourself. Stella forever.

Honestly Mariah's fans have better creative ideas than her paid team. Some of the lambs would probably even help her out for free if she only asked. Stella has no long term vision for Mariah and her brand. She's just taking up anything that'll get them a quick cash because her broke ass needs to leech off 20% and as much as she can under Mariah's wings. She obviously has a degree in bottom kissing so she probably influences Mariah until a point and let's not kid herself Mariah's lifestyle is extremely expensive. Everything around her is first class, and now she has Roc and Roe not to mention she's financing the travels, accommodations, lunch/dinner outings, clothing and most other expenses for the bunch of leeches so her expenditure is as high as her income. Now we all know Mariah is worth over 520 million but that's not liquid cash, that includes assets and all. To finance her extremely luxurious lifestyle and the lifestyle of the clowns she'll take the bait. Mariah can easily cut down half of her expenses by shoving the "Bollocks-nikov" out of her mansion.

Mariah looks really good in the new pictures. The one of her in the car is hot tamale. Love that Mishka's desperate need for attention led her to thank herself for the photo the same way she previously used to "like" her own pictures using Mariah's account. Pathetic, also sweetheart needs spelling classes as usual. But then what's new? Bar tending school probably doesn't focus on spellings, just alcohol and pole dancing.

Please Lord please let this be true. This would be the best news for Mariah in years. Maybe this will be the benefit of the Mariah/Lionel shows being pushed back. The staging will be on a whole other level. Ps. Wow, congrats to Angel's Cry. That is a fantastic Mariah ballad, and if it were the second single from Memoirs (with Ne-Yo) it really could moved. I see the video playing at restaurants that play music vids in the background all the time.

Thick Of It was great, classic Mary. Her follow up, U + Me (Love Lesson) continues that elegant, mature vibe. It's effortless. And the echoed "woah"s she belts out after the chorus can cause goosebumps. Another solid effort. Mariah, this is what growing up sounds like.

It could be good, if Mariah drops the rats surrounding her right now. She could finally do a project with Solange, get more grounded in music again rather than stunts. But, if Stella is involved along with the rest of the current sycophants it will be just another extended stumble. I wish Mariah and her children well.

Andrew, didn't you know there were a couple of members from the Westboro Baptist Church on this board? I thought you knew. Get a man for them is the equivalent of calling you a f****t, but since Eric wouldn't post it, with tears in their eyes for not being able to spit their hate like they do on the streets, they just say: get a man. And remember, you should feel so bad from that implication that you should close your account and go commit suicide. What I find funny is the fact that some of the gays here were saying: yasss girl, you slayed him. Lol.

Singles only (73,521)
by B from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah plans to release standalone singles instead of albums and this is the best career choice (decision) she'd made in years. Album sales are down, it's a proven fact. Mariah will release an album once she scores a hit. She doesn't need to release a single every six months or every year. Or think her collaboration with Busts should be her last single until next year. She needs to work with Bruno Mars and The Smeezingtons and Miguel.
