Re: Wendy williams aludes Bryan's gay? (67,823) (67,832) by Lila from United States
I have to half-agree with Wendy. Of course I don't know if Brian is gay and won't make any predictions but their relationship does more so remind me of a woman hanging with her gay male bestie. I hope that doesn't offend anyone but that's just what I get.

Re: Leave the kids out of it (67,828) (67,831) by RibbonB from USA
I agree. I saw those pics and said I am not going to even bring it up. But since you did, I agree it is tragic that she would allow them to be put in the mix during this time. If she barely told them about remarrying, how does she explain his absence, then another man in the midst of everything. It is just not cool to allow your children to be familiar with so many different men. She is an adult, but they are young children and can barely discern what is or is not going on, but it is bad news to allow children to feel too comfortable and familiar with different people in and out of their lives. When she and Nick were married they used to say that they would be the only ones to even care for their children. My how things change, but Mariah gets new teams, men, friends etc way too often to have the children exposed to them and photographed with them. I have only seen them photographed with Snoop Dogg while they were in Nick's care and that is when he was on Wild N Out once.

Mariah needs to write songs like she did during the Daydream and Butterfly eras. She needs to work with MIguel, Frank Ocean, and Bruno Mars and the collaborators and producers they work with which will update her signature sound without sounding desperate. She needs to cut ties with all of her previous collaborators and producers if she hopes to reamain relevant and make another comeback. Imagine a new song like Underneath The Stars or Fourth of July produced and written by Mariah and Frank. A song written with Miguel like Honey produced by Happy Perez. Ideas? Thoughts?

Re: Dark, evil era (67,821) (67,829) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
That is a scary scenario and I hope Mariah stays safe and away from any Scientology mess. Maybe they initially "allowed" the union thinking that they can recruit Mariah, another high profile celeb face, to use as their ambassador or whatever you call it, like Tom Cruise. But Mariah possibly flat out refused to be a part of this messy cult and that's when things started going bad. Other scenario being they were never down with Mariah either ways. Anyways whichever it is, if there is any Scientology crap involved in this, I hope Mariah just shakes it off and moves on with her life. She has a good thing going, she's an independent woman who can live comfortably for the rest of her life living solely off her Christmas domination (if she wants), not to mention her other huge songs, she has two beautiful children and she has a career that still has a lot of life in it. Instead of being hot headed and vowing for revenge, Stella should instead just pull Mariah away from this, tell her to let bygones be bygones and focus on her music and her family, things that bring her joy. I do understand that being thrown off the boat and being told to leave the house (if those stories are true) can be a huge shock to Mariah and is likely to piss anyone off especially if it's someone who has lived on her own terms since leaving Tommy (ugh 2 Tommys sabotaging Mariah), but fighting Scientology big wigs is like fighting a tiger. They are too powerful, have to many resources, will go to any lengths to protect themselves. It's dark and evil, Mariah alone with Stella won't be able to handle it. Best they just move away from this mess.

Leave the kids out of it (67,828) by Lila from United States
I wish Mariah would leave the kids out of her poor decision making. I didn't like seeing Tanaka in the pics of Mariah and the kids trick or treating. I don't think he's a perv or evil or anything, however, it's obvious, whether some like it or not, that Mariah is trying to be a thorn in James side, is using Tanaka to do so, and Tanaka is more than happy to play his part. Okay be stupid if you want but keep that sh.t relegated to the adults only. The fact is that many who are paying attention to this travesty are thinking or at least pondering that Mariah really bopping her backup dancer. This now makes it look like mommy's new fling is playing happy family with the kids for Halloween. Then before that she's moving them into yachts and houses with a man she barely knew. I just can't with her right now.

Unheard vocals - Anytime You Need A Friend (67,827) by Martyn from England, UK
I've just seen this on Twitter. I've never heard this version/these vocals before. Does anybody know where they are from? They're sublime.

Mariah is a Christian. She acknowledged her faith in interviews, lyrics, and speeches. She knows her voice (and other talents) is (are) a gift from God.

I just checked instagram and again I'm sad because of what I see. (the "Halloween" video with Mariah). It scares me but not on the funny way. What's happening? She looks lost and sad and not for the first time. We can make a lot of music lists to have positive feelings, but I'm so fed up with this dark/evil era. Somebody on this board mentioned it's worse than the Glitter-era. I completely agree, in 2001 Mariah was clearly exhausted. The problem is I don't recognize her and I'm a fan since 1995. I'm really worried. It seems like something really bad happened or has happened. Is it because of the divorce with Nick Cannon? They always seemed so happy. Mariah need real friends around her who has nothing to do with the business to become a butterfly again.

Re: Remember (67,801) (67,824) by Bill from the UK
The last time all the boxes were ticked was with Touch My Body I think. She looked the best she's ever looked, did worldwide promotion, appearances on countless TV shows, great live performances, a hilarious and fun video and the song was catchy and fresh and everything just worked. And she got what may very well end up being her last number one from it. As for all this Stella talk, no one knows how that partnership works. Everybody who comments on her jumps to conclusions and blames her for every misstep. The personal insults towards her and her children are simply vicious and completely unwarranted, no matter what you think she may have done.

Re: Dark, evil era (67,819) (67,821) by RibbonB from USA
She needs to get back to being herself, not what her manager encourages her to be. Here is an interesting read for you and Mimi L. and any other interested parties. It is from Roger Friedman, who used to do a lot of publicity stories when Mariah was with Cindy. He breaks down a lot of the Scientology connection and agrees she is better off out of it now, than later. JP's Scientology dude Tommy is one nasty character, who used to threaten to destroy any of Tom Cruises girlfriends if they upset him. I am sure he doesn't want to tangle with Mariah, but he got his wish to dissolve the arrangement. I definitely hope Mariah lightens up, so to speak and focuses on her music and her children not so much photo ops for the paps. Anyway, we are a week before election, so I'm just going to try to quietly watch what's important and wish for the best regarding Mariah.

Dark, evil era (67,819) by Butterfly from
Before Stella aka the witch came along Mariah was a bride, angel, tiger, mermaid, cookies for Halloween. Last year Mariah was a witch and now a devil. The Complex shoot was scary and Mariah admitted in the interview she just shows up and had nothing to do with the theme. Scientology wanted her to join but one way or another she escaped. Let's hope she can escape the witch sooner than later. Yes, RibbonB NYC is the place to be.

Re: Great songs not diss songs (67,817) (67,818) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
An empowerment song with a social message would be nice. A goosebumps inducing chorus to go with it. Also her music videos need to be upgraded. I can't deal with any more messy music videos. Side note, I wonder what her state of friendship with Brett Ratner is at the moment. Clearly whichever story you believe; her break up with James was bad (unless of course there has not been a breakup and this is just some stunt), so what's going to happen to Ratner? Since he introduced her to both Stella and James. I don't think Ratner will risk his partnership with James. Stella has already made it clear that she is done with James with the "I don't care how long I fudge with you" post.

Great songs not diss songs (67,817) by RibbonB from USA
I think the last thing Mariah should do is another diss song. A lot of the songs listed are breakup songs and not true diss songs. But after Infinity, I hope she has learned and will just generally grow up. If anything Mariah should do like Wendy of all people said and just not know him, JP. Why go on about a rebound break up, where she looks like a gold digger who got out played. She never expressed love, soulmate mess towards James while dating and it would be too fake to cry about it in the aftermath and diss songs are so petty. I hope she writes some good universal songs of love, heartbreak, happiness, empowerment not the next "Beth cha gonna wish you had picked me instead of Scientology" diss track, or the next "Stella is the best thing that ever happened my life because I am nothing without her managing to ruin my life", blah, blah, blah. I do hope she rights herself and gets back to her NYC home, that she keeps her kids close to their father for the joint custody and moves on with her life, hopefully out of the Stella created fishbowl of Mariah's World. We live and learn and hopefully she will do better. But, it doesn't look too good right now.

I love Mariah's "diss-songs". She's the queen of heartfelt ballads but the songs about failed relationships are really cool. Prisoner, Betcha Gonna Know and Clown are my favorites.

Divorce final? (67,815) by RibbonB from USA
Well if TMZ can be believed the divorce is final. Nick supposedly signed the docs just before Mariah set sail to Greece. Obviously the reality of what JP signed on for set in and he bailed. Let's see: ever present, abrasive manager and her whole family always on vacations, diva as wife, always in spotlight, filming a reality show, flirting with her background dancers, the list can go on and on. The only thing M. is allegedly upset about is his unmet promises of financial support. Wow. Well at least if reports are correct, they agreed to joint custody. I wish them all well.

Re: Stella board or Mariah board? (67,792) (67,810) by Andrew from UK
You don't normally miss the point, but I think you may have here. Some people may like Stella. It is perfectly reasonable to argue that "no press is bad press" and that, as long as people are talking about you, you are still relevant. If Stella is uncouth or different in her approach, or is making certain decisions for Mariah that are putting her in the press for reasons the others fans don't like, then, I suppose, at least, Mariah hasn't gone silent for months on end and fans aren't on message boards debating how much they'd like to eat Mariah's hair. On the flip side of the coin, it is perfectly reasonable to say that "bad press is bad press" and Mariah should be protecting her legend and status as an artist, and fighting to earn back respect that she lost through her antics and attitude, rather than making herself (Nick?) cannon-fodder. On whichever side of the fence you or I or others may fall, the constant demonisation of Stella and her children is not far off bordering on hysteria. It is almost a declaration that Mariah is not in charge, when, by most accounts, we could claim she probably is, and her managers merely her enablers. Again, it feels as if a rewriting of the facts or a twisting of the narrative to portray Mariah as a victim with Stella in the latest of a long line of people whose asses are hauled before the Supreme Court of the Lambs to blame them for Mariah's own failings as an artist. Questioning the rationality of people who bang on about Stella in emotionally stunted ways is not defending Stella, it's defending rationality, I would say.

Re: Remember (67,801) (67,809) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Benny Medina. Benny and Mariah together is powerhouse. I know people cite Benny's recent work with JLo and say well what could he do for her. Thing is JLo's latest efforts were below average and not good at all but Benny still did his part of the job and kept her super relevant and always in the public eye without being trashy. Basically JLo-Benny duo failed to produce a successful music era (if you ignore "Booty" charting in top 20s haha) because from her side JLo fell flat and didn't deliver. But we know Mariah always delivers musically. So all Mariah needs to do is create fresh sounds and good music (which is easy for her) and Benny will handle the rest and make sure she is heard all over.
