Hoodriah and the strength of lyrics (73,361)
by Jeff from USA
| |
|
|
I realize there is often a steep and bitter division between the followers of "Flowing Gown Ballad MC" and "Hoodriah". I happen to love both personally. Hoodriah is where we see her most happy personally, but we also love her in a beautiful gown showing off her vocal range in pop performances. I get upset at times because people assume Hoodriah isn't deep or is a waste of her writing skills. In fact, I was sixteen when the Butterfly album was released. All of my anguish and pain poured out to hours upon hours of Breakdown on repeat. Later, Side Effects helped me through a year of bitter depression and suicidal thoughts after I was betrayed by those closest to me. So, just saying... Hoodriah got me through some tough calls, y'all. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Latest selfie (73,360)

Bravo I really appreciate the less is more approach her. Hopefully we get more natural beauty moments versus the over the top diva moments. The caption in the selfie was a Tyler Perry reference from his Madea character. Which leads to me to believe MC posted this one.

Actually Mariah's response about the people not wanting full albums may not be a cop out. She may actually believe this is true. I recently watched an interview with Prince on the Arsenio Hall show (the 2013-2014 season not the 90's). Prince mentioned something about the recording industry being in a state of where it's single driven and not really about the album sells as a whole anymore. Here is the interview.

Actually "Mornting" is from Tyler Perry's Madea character. I'm guessing that's where she got it.

"Mornting" is often used by the character Madea played by Tyler Perry. That was done on purpose. It's not Mishka this time. Lol. Anyway that's a nice picture. She looks fresh faced and beautiful. It's a nice change from boobies and butts. Lol.

I feel like the "no one wants albums anymore" comment is a copout. Mariah is always the first one to say that true fans usually love the album cuts more than the hit singles, so how could she possibly believe that no one wants albums anymore? The bottom line is that she hasn't fully promoted an album since TEOM. You can't give mediocre effort to promotion, put out mediocre singles and then blame the public for not wanting your albums. MIAM didn't sell well because she lost a huge chunk of her fanbase due to frequent album pushbacks, weak singles, strange behavior, etc. If that same album would have been put out during a cohesive era it would have sold way more. What she should have said was "Having a successful album is no longer effortless and requires me to give my full energy to promotion and I don't want to do that, so I'm not making albums anymore." You really know Mariah has changed if she truly believes that albums aren't worth her effort anymore. Albums used to be her opportunity to pour her heart out and expose it to the world. I think MIAM was the last time Mariah felt comfortable being vulnerable. It seems like that era is over which is tragic for such a (formerly) deep and introspective writer like Mariah. I believe that as long as she's going the single route, we will not get that raw lyricism anymore. It will just be a bunch of "hip-pop" records, which is cool in moderation but I don't want to hear that only for the rest of Mariah's career.

Lol. Stellar stirs her tea cup and puts Mariah in the "sunken place", who will be her TSA agent? Soon she will realize the hired hand cannot give her the keys.

I hate the reasons that lead up to Mariah feeling this way about Morgan, but you've gotta admit that "a friend of my mother's son" is about her coldest and funniest shade yet.

Because Anthony didn't play along. He exposed the show as rather fake. Plus BT is the designated escort for their red carpets etc. Even in the show, she said she hired BT to be a "dumb ass" with her. And she is still wearing the ring. Lol Mimi L. you must go see that movie Get Out though. Lol.

Seriously at first I thought that pic belongs to a Mariah impersonator lol. Well it takes guts (especially for a person like Mariah) to post something like that, whether she personally did it or not. By the way the likes are blowing up, it goes to show that people still love her minus the antics and fishnets and I just hope her team will realize that because of it. Authentic > gimmicks.

"Mornting" is something Mariah says. Basically it's a "Mariah-ism" haha because morning is too mainstream.

Her biggest pics get around 100k likes. Imagine this more natural looking Mariah pic gets 200k. It would be a bold statement to her and the people running her account.

Now this is a moment. Plus it's her clearly taking the pic herself. No diamonds needed, they age her. She looks radiant and effortlessly sexy, youthful and confident and most importantly does not look awkward or trying to hard. I immediately liked and commented on the photo. Only thing is, was it spelled Mornting on purpose so people know Mishka posted it? I don't think Mariah would misspell her own catption? More if this MC. Less diamonds or at least in moderation, it's not needed when you are the gem.

Neither would I, but even then the question remains as to why only Anthony was supposedly considered to be the one at fault. If "Lose-naka" was co-creative head, he was equally responsible and that aside, if Stella is making a habit out of pulling Mariah away from interviewers why wasn't she there to walk Mariah away when she was up there getting embarrassed?

Her new Instagram pic (73,342)

Okay, so the majority of people on here and other asking for Mariah to tone down the diva glam, to go back to the more natural Mariah that they used to relate to. Now is your chance to tell her directly how you feel. She posted a natural pic of her on Instagram, gone is the diva lashes and hair, makeup and jewels. This is the Mariah from days gone by in that pic and if everyone "likes" it and it gets more social attention and likes then some of her more outlandish publicity stunt pictures then maybe just maybe she'll realize what the people really want from her. Get to liking that picture.

I think for once she's being smart and in touch with reality. She knows she does not sell anymore and she does not want another major album of her's to flop. Releasing singles obviously does not have that much pressure on her and she can test out the waters and see how her singles perform. She obviously is not going to come out and say I'm not releasing an album right now because I don't sell much or because I'm having label issues - she's never been one of those artists.

Get Out movie (73,340)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
People really need to go see this thriller/horror movie with some comedic scenes for relief. First, it has great music from Childish Gambino/Donald Glover and the story is very compelling and timely. And boy, was I thinking of Mariah as the movie developed. She should really see this movie which is basically about a person getting comfy in a new association, but he is getting played/used/swallowed up by that person and their whole family. The key is stay "woke", stay strong and fight out of it. That is as much as I can say without spoilers. See it please. I think I might start tweeting to Mariah with a #Getout hashtag. Mariah, "you in danger girl", to quote from the movie "Ghost".
