Anthony (72,813) by Butterfly from
Mariah shaded Anthony saying someone moved my backup singers. He's doing fine without the circus though. The Beyonce performance was outstanding. I like Anthony, a very professional person.

Re: The Grammys foiled me (72,806) (72,812) by Butterfly from
The guys asked a normal question and she went nuts on him. There's so much anger in her. Maybe she should deal with them. It's not the guy's fault you lost in 1996. If you have a problem with the Grammy's you should have made a statement in 2006 and said sorry I'm not going because they foiled me in 1996. I guess she can't handle her career is pretty much done and all she has left is Stella's amazing projects like being a special guest on someone else's tour or that amazing reality show.

Clarification (72,811) by Marissa from USA
I just logged onto the website and realized that my original message blew up, but I just wanted to clarify that I'm not angry or offended about people thinking that this performance was boring, I simply felt that this "boring" performance was just Mariah being the Mariah she's always been. I think the difference in this performance was more noticeable because Mariah danced a lot more on the SSFT and in her Vegas residency, so I think we forgot that dancing is really not her M.O., and got spoiled by seeing her do it for a little while. I still personally do not care if she moves around a lot or not as long as the vocals are there.

You even read the first sentence? As soon as I see the avatars I immediately go into an A.D.D trance where only my thumb works in clicking the next arrow, as soon as possible. No one's here for such gremlins with their negativity and weak sarcastic jokes disguised as opinions.

Mariah's take on the Grammy's (72,809) by T from USA
She was asked if she watched the Grammy's or Adele and Beyonce perform and she said no the Grammy's are boring and predictable. I think here in lies the biggest problem. Mariah has this warped sense of what entertaining is. Maybe that's why she does all the flashy outfits and sparkly microphones? If she thinks Adele and Beyonce just standing there singing are boring then what do you call what do you call what she does? In fact I think her recent performances are boring, I would much prefer her just sitting there and emoting like she used to do on the Rosie O Donnell show. To me that's more entertaining than her recent stage shows. Plus she's also criticizing things that she herself used to do at the Grammy's which was just stand there and sing. I get she doesn't like the new music that's out there but it could also be in combination with the fact that she doesn't get recognized by that organizational very often. Maybe going and showing face would do well for her career. I will say however I did think the recent Jimmy Kimmel Vision of Love was a step in the right direction because it was more about the song then anything else.

MW season 2 (72,808) by RibbonB from USA
I just watched an interview with M. in Minn. She is still considering a season 2. She still cringes when she hears reality show vs. docuseries, lol and she confirmed that the Lionel tour is his show, but she is a very special guest with an hour segment. Interesting she says she has only spoken with Lionel once about how they were going to do the show.

Interesting write up (72,807) by RibbonB from USA
Mariah's old friend Jasmine posted this today. I thought her first segment on social circle was interesting. I am not saying this relates to M. or their old friendship, but I do wonder if they are still friends. M. is very silent with her old friends during this MW era.

The Grammys foiled me (72,806) by Shezz from Pk
Oh Lord. She really mustn't give these random interviews now. So in some Satellite interview the interviewer asked her what her thoughts were on the Grammys and he said, "Do you really think I watch the Grammys? They are so boring and predictable. After they foiled me in 1996. Before they wouldnt vote for me because they were against popular songs and now theyre all about voting for what's popular."
1. So "foiled" is her new favourite word.
2. Yes we get what she means by it being boring and predictable but come on Mariah, why are you hell bent on perpetuating this unfriendly image of yours?
So after that 30 second clip all the 4 presenters laughed at how bizzare her response was and how that was 2 decades ago and how she could've just said no I didnt watch it but I'm happy for Adele and Beyonce. She seemed so disinterested and ticked off that the guy asked her about the Grammys, but he was quite nice about it. He even said, "As a 5 time Grammy winner what do you think about the results?" There's apparently a lot more to the interview they just showed a short clip. So basically she has decided she's not going to be nice anymore. It's strange to see this side of her. It would have been better had she said "I don't know the Grammys."

Re: Didn't she? (72,770) (72,805) by B from USA
Which is why she was using a prerecorded track with the whistles for her NYE performonce of Emotions. She was doing so for volume (to make them louder and fuller due to the outdoor venue).

Re: Article: Mariah's first live performance since disastrous NYE gig (72,778) (72,804) by B from USA
We don't lower the bar. She held back on Vision of Love. She did so so she could deliver a solid performance. Just because she didn't whistle or hit a high note doesn't mean she no longer can. She's proved she can over and over again. She's never had issues with her whistle register, I think she held back because of nerves. It's been proven that nerves affect the voice. Go watch the video she released after the opening night debacle of the TECT in which she whistles to the melody of Ain't No Mountain High Enough.

Vision of Love at Jimmy Kimmel (72,803) by Ian from United Kingdom
So, finally built up the courage to watch the Kimmel performances and have to say I was pleasantly surprised, it wasn't perfect but overall it was one of her better performances of late and hopefully we get more like this.

Current voice (72,801) by lil star from untied states
So I feel like if Mariah changes up her singing style she can get more respect again. I feel like that ultra smooth pretty quality Mariah had to her voice is gone (besides when she's in whisper tone) but she has that raspy husky tone that is amazing in a different way. She should embrace that more her voice at times now is giving me Lauryn Hill vibes. I just think she's lost her pop voice her vocals play better to r&b and jazz more and when she plays within that realm she has great moments. Hope she plays to her new strengths going into the next album

Re: Vision of Love at Jimmy Kimmel (72,780) (72,799) by Liz Archer from Sweden
I agree, I think this is the reason she is getting so much negativity at the moment. I want to relate to her and her music again. In the 90ies I did. Also in early 2000s. But when I see Mariah having fishnet outfits with a plunging front, her wearing diamonds in every picture - it's creating a disconnection between her and the public. I don't relate to this. Now if she would do a video wearing this in some art piece or story, I could accept it, but she seems to always be wearing this. Plus, Mariah's World made it seem like she was emotionally cheating on her boyfriend at the time. Honestly, it was such a bad move of them to only focus on her and her dancer, so quickly after the breakup and now to claim that they are dating. It's not a good image. No one is going to relate to that. Even though the song I Don't is catchy, it's overshadowed by all this. She was moving on too fast and this song I Don't would have worked better if that show hadn't focused on her new relationship blooming when she was supposed to wed someone else.

Wendy shade? (72,798) by RibbonB from USA
I just saw this video of Charlie Wilson performing on Wendy Williams last week. At the end of this performance of "Outstanding" Wendy throws a little shade about lip synching. I wonder was that directed at Mimi, Wendy's favorite target. Anyway, I can't wait to check out Charlie's new record and the new one from Jidenna this week. Jidenna might be a good one for Mariah to consider for a collaboration. Something different.

Re: Nerves (72,791) (72,797) by B from USA
I'd be nervous if my last performance had had technical glitches. I think any performer would have been. She was singing live, do you really think she'd take that risk? She's a lot of things but stupid isn't one of them.

All this fake outrage over the word boring? Of all of the things that have been said about Mariah on this board, all of the name calling and insults, people are outraged about that. It is just an opinion about one performance. If it was said that she was tentative, someone would have taken offence to that too I suppose. I don't think anyone on the board has said she did badly on Kimmel, which is a good thing.

Need to make sure when I say VOL is a simple song, in no way did I mean simple song to sing. I meant some of MC's songs have vocals all over and don't translate well live or without a ton of backing tracks. VOL is straight up Mariah.

I wasn't a part of the lipping conversation. I actually have said from the beginning she sounded great. I agree it's pointless to debate about the lipping because we know she does it.
