To me it's the same thing as really loving specific songs or albums whereas some don't resonate or grab you as much. I freely admit that the constant debate over backing track and lipping feels grates me sometimes because I just want to enjoy the presentation of the music, not go picking through it with a fine tooth comb. She lips at times lol. There's nothing we can do about it. At least acknowledge live vocals even if there over top of a track, she's still singing. (Friday 17 February 2017; 15:15)

Nerves (72,786) by Mara from United States I agree she was nervous. She had a lot on her and she knew it after NYE. As B said, even her fans were displeased and went in on her after NYE. Plus ID is a new song and she never performed it ever before so to pick a song she never performed as your reemergence song, it showed that she was concentrating on just getting that right and she was focusing on the song and getting through it. She did well other than being stiff and I think the dress was too tight to move around even if she lipped a complete song let alone really sing. I wish it was VOL that was televised but I get that she needs to push the new song. I think she chooses VOL to be the one she sings live all the time because other than it being her signature debut song and really showcase her range, it really is a simple song without any backing vocals so it comes across better. Anyway she has certain songs that don't really translate well live to me. You're Mine is a perfect example. That BET Honors performance was snooze worthy. As I said in my original statement I don't know whether it was the minimal movement or whether it was just the song. Either way she killed both performances vocally and that's all I really care about. Maybe like Mimi L said it was her nervousness that was making the performance off. Maybe boring is the wrong word. I always found it refreshing that Mariah wasn't dancing like a Britney Spears or Janet Jackson. For Britney it made sense, she was never a vocalist. Anyway I understand what some of you mean with "boring". If she works on her voice and gives a performance with a song that comes from her heart I'm sure nobody will find it boring. Great singers don't need dancing and a show. It's a bonus if they offer this entertainment while singing. I only wish Mariah wouldn't be so nervous. She needs her confidence back. We should have all realized by now that some of these lambs are negative and unhappy and put all there issues on Mariah. They would not be happy if she wont 10 Grammys - they would say, "But her dress is too short or put the globes away." This fanbase is unhealthy for her at best. (Friday 17 February 2017; 12:01)

I think the biggest issue with the song is, although it's catchy, I believe the general public is having a hard time relating to the lyrics of "I Don't" because of all the lies associated with it. It's difficult to sympathize with Mariah's failed engagement when her emotional cheating with Tanaka was televised for the world to see and now we're seeing a picture of her and her new boyfriend in a hot tub just a few months after her engagement ended. When the V-Day hot tub picture was posted on The Shade Room's Instagram account, I noticed that 10% of their followers were happy for Mariah and the other 90% called her a "thot". On the other hand, when a picture of Mariah and her kids are posted on TSR's account, she receives nothing but compliments across the board and the highest number of likes overall on that day. I think people are just sick of seeing all of the "extra-ness" flaunted in their faces all the time. Nowadays, people like to support artists who they can relate to. No one can relate to the pictures she posts on IG of her bathing with diamonds on, vacationing on expensive yachts, or working out in fishnets and high heels. If Mariah could just focus on the two things she says are the most important to her - music and her family (the kids) - everything would be great. I personally don't think people want to hate Mariah, they are just tired of her behavior. (Friday 17 February 2017; 11:11)

(72,777) (72,779) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Personally, the fact that she didn't move isn't the issue for me, it's that she looked uncortable and extremely nervous. Usually when she sings you can she has a strong strange presence and she usually has that mic stand there which she holds and uses as prop of sorts. You have the Mariah holding the stand while standing behind it, then she moves next to the mic stand, with one arm stretched holding it and bending a little singing the higher parts so a lot of choreography just with that haha. Basically my point is even with her just standing there she usually looks confident and has a strong presence but for the ID performance she looked like someone pushed her onstage and told her to sing. She loosened up a little when YG came. I think she did much better in the VOL performance. She looked more confident. (Friday 17 February 2017; 10:53)

The NYE debacle side effects were obvious, but she did better than I expected (I find myself saying that a lot as of late). I Don't was 30% lipped while Vision Of Love was live through and through - which makes us wonder: Is VOL the only song she can sing thoroughly live anymore? Sorry to be a downer but it seems like we just keep lowering the bar for her live efforts that performances that we would have considered sub-par or meh in 2000-2010 are the ones we are so thankful to be able to praise these days. It's not about us, but I don't think it's healthy for us fans to always be nervous every time she gets up on stage, crossing every finger and praying that she can get through a performance with minimal issues. Mariah, if you're stuck with Stella, then at least minimize the alcohol and unnecessary late nights. It's bad enough that you're not as confident to use your sensitive instrument anymore, so the least you can do is not to dry out what's left of it. You can do this. (Friday 17 February 2017; 8:51)

Why are we acting brand new? Mariah dancing or moving at all has always been a pretty rare occurrence throughout the years, and when she does it she can't really dance anyway, so who cares? People pay attention to Mariah for the voice and the voice only. Anything else is a bonus. I'm just glad that she sounded good. Twirling or twerking is not required in my opinion. I also read the comment section and these people just really know Mariah as this rude diva and lip synching queen, they claimed and asked if that was lip synced. Also the dislikes is never ending, it's worse, it's like Mariah kidnapped someone or stole something from them with the kind of hate she's receiving. I just hope her ever amazing team will see that and realize that it's time to rebuild Mariah's image. She doesn't deserve this. (Friday 17 February 2017; 5:04)

MC on Kimmel, Edward (72,775) by Stacey from USA Badly needed and MC delivered. Maybe NYE woke MC up in some respects. Let's hope. VOL didn't have all the flair we are used to vocally, but it was obvious that MC still loves that song and that alone it seemed was enough to deliver a good performance. There were moments her voice wasn't there for this or that note. She didn't sweat it. MC is so good at changing up a note or run on cue. And I loved the long note at the end, like take that ya'all. I think sometimes there''s a tendency to have very unrealistic expectations. It's not 1990 anymore, come on. Even on my best day, I can't sing Vision Of Love the way she did on Kimmel. Jimmy Kimmel (72,773) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City) Mariah finally gave the masses what they have been asking for, what seems like forever and I have to say I enjoyed the performances. While you can tell our girl played it safe in some areas I am just grateful that she was able to deliver a performance without the bells and whistles of play back and the background singers doing most of the work. Now that she has proven she can still handle her business it is time for Mariah to get back to training her voice and crafting material that is meaningful and she can handle live. But I can tell she is slowly building her confidence back which even though she's a legend I get why she's so nervous. Hopefully this helped her because so far reviews are good for the performances she just needs to work harder to get her voice in a good place. I still think she needs to slightly update VOL. Vision of Love at Jimmy Kimmel (72,769) by Edward from USA Another step in the right direction, Mariah. We all want her to go there with her voice, but it's better when she plays it safe but live than phenomenal but partially lipped, especially on occasions in which she only has to perform a couple of songs. I was laughing at a comment on YouTube that states "Wait a minute, she still can sing, I'm in shock." That obviously comes from a casual listener who had the opinion that she couldn't sing anymore. The fact that comment was made could be an indication that when she delivers a good performance, people might give her a chance again. (Friday 17 February 2017; 1:06)

I didn't need to reach for the cushion for the cringe intent where it went wrong. But to say it wasn't at least even partially lipped is a stretch. Be honest.
