Re: Glitter debacle (66,373) (66,384) by Dennis from Underneath the Stars
Ashanti was very upset that she had to give the track that ended up as Ain't It Funny (Remix) to JLo. She co-wrote the song and wanted it to herself. She was kind of mad at Irv Gotti. I will try to find the article.

Re: Empire (66,374) (66,383) by Sheila from United States
Other than V. Bozman, Empire's music purely sucks. Please don't say [...] was a classic, it was not. Here's my issue, we don't need [...] horrible vocals on a track with the queen of music. However, Rodney Jerkins has [...] Beyonce, Janet, Mariah and Gospel music. Rodney Jerkins has the reputation of being a "real singers" producer. Lets see what he has cooked up.

That's what I fear. Yesterday I watched some interviews from 2001 before her "nervous breakdown". Back then I only found it funny all the jokes she was making and so on, but if I look at it now it's clear she wasn't in a good mood and had a lot of problems.

Re: Empire (66,366) (66,381) by Andrew from UK
Sorry buddy, I didn't mean to get your hopes up about that. But in response to those who would say that some of Mariah's best songs are slow jams, I would rephrase it to some of Mariah's best *album tracks* are slow jams and are, further, better appreciated relative to the album in which they sit. This is an opportunity for Mariah to use Empire as a vehicle for more exposure than she currently warrants with a song that could put her back on the map. She should be oozing confidence and attitude with an uptempo number to take on the Rihannas and Beyonces. She should have created a track to make a younger demographic sit up and ask the right questions. A slow number is sending the message to the world that Mariah doesn't have the confidence to sing or perform on television anymore, that she's doing the music-by-numbers she's been doing for the last umpteen number of years. Imagine she will get JD to groan "Y'all know what dis iz" over the top. To which the answer would obviously be: "Yes, JD, we do. We really, really do."

Re: Article: Seriously, who is taking these sexy photos of Mariah? (66,376) (66,379) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Hey Betty, sorry I didn't understand which part you are responding to. The part about her being a straight A student or the one about her taking the picture? If you are talking about her taking the photos, I am almost certain it's her because I have seen this video a while back where Mishka is showing Mariah how to pose while Mishka is taking the picture. We also know how Mishka is the one posting and editing these photos so it's safe to assume she has that phone with her. As for not being in the pictures, Mariah hasn't been photographed much by the paparazzi for a while now and Mishka didn't post photos of herself on Mariah's account. But if you go to Stella's page, it's full of videos of Mishka always hanging on to Mariah for dear life. Touching her hair, sitting next to her, standing behind her at restaurants and so on.

Now that you've said that I can hear Ashanti on the song. It makes sense because during that time you couldn't have a Ja Rule on a song without Ashanti. She either wrote parts of the song or sang on it. Very interesting. Lol.

Article: Seriously, who is taking these sexy photos of Mariah? (66,376) by Betty from Canada
Mimi L: That's very possible but a bit weird for me at the same time because she is a child after all. Is that why she is not in the pictures as much as before?

Re: Empire (66,361) (66,375) by darrian liu from taiwan
Some of Mariah's best songs are midtempo and slow jams. Breakdown, The Roof, Underneath The Stars, Fourth Of July, Bliss, etc. I wouldn't really complain if she gives a really good slow jam.

Re: Empire (66,367) (66,374) by Luke from United Kingdom
Ah ok thank you. Although I love Mariah's upbeat songs I actually prefer her ballads when she does them well. I'm hoping the powers that be involved with Empire won't settle for a lacklustre song.

Thanks B for the info, I knew at certain parts it sounds like Ashanti is singing and not J Lo. I thought I was just going crazy all these years. Did Ashanti ever comment on this?

Re: Does Mariah get a double-standard? (66,351) (66,372) by B from USA
Mariah looks amazing. With a great song and a high fashion video (My All) she could easily score another hit. Alas unless she fires Stella and hires the beat team money can afford she's going to have to work twice as hard.

I did not know Queen Latifah produced the show. She's the epitome of hip hop royalty. She came out doing a time when hip hop stood for something.

You're funny, minus the f and the unny. Rap isn't a preference in music for me, at least not nowaday's rap, but the concept of the show is great. Taking kids out of the streets and giving them the opportunity to do something they enjoy and also motivate and teaching them to work hard for what they want in life, is never a bad idea. Along with JD, Queen Latifah is executive producer of the show, another legend and great mentor. These kids do write their own lyrics btw.

Re: Sasha's YouTube channel? (66,364) (66,368) by RibbonB from USA
It is so inappropriate. Mimi needs to take control of her life. A teenager controls her social media and a preteen is "babysitting" her kids and posting inappropriate videos. It is too much. These people are involved in every aspect of her life and now it is clear of her children's lives. And yet many other lambs are out there still saying "yass queen" they are having fun. Something is way rotten in the mix there. Funny you should mention Trump. I said weeks ago, that my gut tells me if/when he loses, things may right themselves. Here is hoping. I don't know what is going on, but I for one, don't like it.

Re: Empire (66,366) (66,367) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
No there isn't. The clip Andrew is talking about is basically the trailer with Mariah in it. You can't hear the song but I guess Andrew is giving his opinion based on the scene, where it doesn't look like it's an upbeat song. It could very well be a ballad since it's with Jamaal. But it can also be a song which starts of slow but picks up pace. Don't know.

Is a clip of the song online anywhere? I've looked at the trailers on YT but can't seem to find one featuring it.

Re: Grace Kelly / conspiracy theory Friday (66,363) (66,365) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
We don't even need conspiracy theories to know Mariah is around the wrong people. With James' connection with Scientology and Stella and her entire family being supporters of Donald Trump, it is quite obvious that Mariah is surrounded by shady people. People so different from the views and faith she holds or used to hold. Since these people surround Mariah 24/7 and is basically her shadow by now, I hope her faith is strong enough for her to not get sucked into these.

Re: Sasha's YouTube channel? (66,357) (66,364) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I agree, I saw some videos on Instagram and was thinking the same. Some of the stuff are even inappropriate for 5 year old. Like when Sasha and that shirtless guy does the Justin-Selena act and the guy comes up and says "let's go make out in the closet" and Sasha gets up and hugs him and agrees. Plus some of the videos are so weird, hahah, I mean al because I don't understand what the heck is going on, and then there are the straight up inappropriate stuff. I do hope Mariah knows that these are being uploaded. Being a celebrity kid, their lives will be always one where they can't have full privacy so at least they should be protected when they are in a private place, at least while they are young.

Grace Kelly / conspiracy theory Friday (66,363) by RibbonB from USA
So I watched the clip on the Rap Game, where JD asked M. about her ring. M. referred to it as the Grace Kelly Ring. Yet another reference to a Hollywood diva. Here is an interesting read for the conspiracy theory fans on the board. Make of it what you will.

What an awesome looking show. No, really. Looks great. Except they missed out the "C" from the title. But I'm gonna guess reading or writing isn't their forte, given their standard in speaking.

Re: Empire (66,359) (66,361) by Andrew from UK
Judging from the clip of her singing in the show it looks like a boring, soporific slow jam with her ooh-ing and cooing. It really doesn't appear to be the banging tune that she needs to get noticed again. Same old, same old, I reckon.

In case anyone would like to know, Mariah will make a cameo appearance on this show for an episode to coach the kids. I also came across this short interview with JD talking about his relationship with Mariah, among other things.

Re: Does Mariah get a double-standard? [66,352] (66,358) by Alan from Asia
I think we all being a bit too harsh on Mariah. Yes, I think her latest IG photos are very distasteful but then, Mariah has been through a lot in her life and I'm sure there are a lot of things she is facing right now that compels her to post such photos. It's very easy to forget just how tough her life is and how much she had to overcome to become the legend she is today. If you need a reminder, watch this inspiring video about Mariah's journey to success.
