Re: Mimi L. (66,478) (66,486) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Haha and don't forget about the frequent "you'll hear new music soon" announcements.

Here you go. Giving you an advance warning about potential headache due to little Bulochnikov moving the camera around so much. Waiting for the next installment featuring Miss Monroe singing "I'm Real". Just kidding.

Re: Forget the image (66,483) by Jeff from USA
At the end of the day, Mariah loves to make R&B, and she is damn good at it. Expert even. So, the question for this particular reply is whether her favorite style of music has an audience in today's musical scene. I think the answer is yes, but it requires effort. VOL was absolutely nothing like what else was playing in that time. MC invented the singer/rapper colab when no one else was doing it. And she came out with the Song of the Century when the media said she was through. Market her well and the woman will sell.

Inspirational songs (66,481) by Jeff from USA
This may be strange, but I find my inspiration in some of Marian's saddest songs, particularly Close My Eyes, Looking In, and Breakdown. Life can be difficult, and I appreciate an artist that can reveal their pain. It gives me hope that the sun will shine another day.

It really got me excited in Terrence's remark about the song that "it touches the heart and feels like the first time you've ever seen Mariah Carey. It's that Mariah Carey." I felt more pumped up when he said that "it's that Mariah Carey" , well we will see that in September 30th. I hope Jussie doesn't ruined the song.

I talked about the grandeur of Lemonade on here when it first came out. Mariah doesn't have the cajones, nor can she keep a secret about a release. She has to be photographed in studio, or some sort of leak.

I really need someone to teach me how to download because I would like to help Mariah when her new single comes out. I miss the days when I can go and buy singles in the store. I also think that a lot of Mariah's fan base is older and don't know how to use a computer.

Re: Through The Rain, Hero or Can't Take That Away (66,451) (66,472) by Merr Hasenan from Malaysia
TTR for sure. Hero was during my high school year and my life circa 93/94 was less dramatic. I prefered All I've Ever Wanted instead. I was not desperate for a motivational song that time. But lately, I listen a lot to Hero, don't know why, maybe I am now desperate to motivate myself and my boring daily routine.

Re: I wish you well, Fly like a bird or Saving Grace? (66,457) (66,471) by Terna from Nigeria
Without a doubt "Fly Like a Bird" that song, words can't even describe the feeling it evoked on first listen and then she suddenly unleashes the full weight, power and range of her voice, and the vocal assault (for lack of a better term lol) seems to go on forever. Mariah uses every part of her voice, every register to outstanding effect. If ever there was a song that the power of her voice is most eminent, its this song, the song is annointed.

According to "Mariah Carey Australia", we will get the new Empire song, at least the audio, which will be up for digital downloads on September 30th.

I loved that. Thanks for sharing. I miss these types of interviews. She was just having fun and didn't seem to be so consumed with her image or the divaness (I know that might not be a word lol). We don't get to see naturally funny Mariah enough.

Re: Through The Rain, Hero or Can't Take That Away (66,451) (66,468) by Licia from USA
Can I make my own list? None of those three do anything for me. Lol. My Saving Grace, Fly Like A Bird, and Heavenly are the songs that have me in tears everytime I listen. My Saving Grace came out during a time when I really needed it. The words hit me hard. This was the first song by Mariah that finally spoke to me and I could finally really relate. In my mind I believe Mariah made the CB album just for me lol. When I first heard FLAB I wasn't going through anything, but again the words just got me. That Grammy performance of FLAB will always be a favorite of mine. Heavenly just motivates me.

Dem kids on instagram (66,467) by Lara from Middle East
There's a video on instagram that was probably taken by the youngest Bulochnikov and you can see in it Roc singing Eminem's "My name is". I wonder what is/would be Mariah's reaction (or even Nick Cannon) to that.

10 random facts (66,466) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Love this video. Mariah looks great and full of life. I wish she was featured in some big magazines and we'd get some bonus videos like these. I'd love for her to have the Vogue 73 questions segment of her walking through her house and answering those.

Butterfly (66,464) by darrian liu from taiwan
Such an astonishing album, it's an instant classic. I love the album dearly, especially the videos. Does anyone realize how all videos in the Butterfly era has that gold-nude-brown color schemes in them (except for the My All video)? Like there's a gold/nude undertones in the videos and I thought that made her even more goddess-like. All those videos were so gorgeous and classy, I wish Mariah would make videos like them in the future.

Re: Mimi L. (66,437) (66,463) by darrian liu from taiwan
I thought Lemonade was brilliant, such an inspired album, especially when put in context with the visuals and storyline. What I love about it is that Beyoncé took big risks with the album and I really want Mariah to be brave enough to take big risks with her next album too. Mariah is arguably more musically talented than Beyoncé and if she takes big risks, I think Mariah will win even more critical acclaim than what Beyoncé achieved with Lemonade and her self-titled album.

Forget the image, forget the ensembles, etc. (66,462) by Norman from USA
Game time: Say that Mariah didn't have a single #1 hit to her credit. Say she'd never sold all those millions of albums and singles world wide. Not a single one. Say that in 2016 all that we know of Mariah Carey is that she's a singer/songwriter, single mother of two, twice divorced, who's never really had her big break. Her voice is in its current state (we know nothing about how it sounded prior to its current state). She's been a backup singer off and on for most of her adult life. Now, at the age of 46, a YouTube video of her warming up and singing (leaving this blank so you can decide later) at this year's (fill in the blank) music festival has gone viral and landed her a contract with a big label. If you were in the position to A&R, or help produce her debut album, what direction would you go? What type of artist are you thinking about when you hear her? Keep in mind this is just about the music, not how she's marketed Clean slate. No drama/baggage. She can collaborate with anyone. She can sing any genre (that's why I left the stuff above blank). The catch is that you have to make the case as to why. Why that specific collaboration? Why that specific genre(s)? Why that sound? Why that producer, and what do they bring to the project? If you name someone, you must have a why to back it up. Maybe compile a list of other artists to draw reference from, emulate/compare. Naming off your favorite big name producers and or possible collaborator is fine. The thing about this, again, is the why. Also, her discography is off-limits as reference since she doesn't have one in this scenario. You can't wish she'd write something we know she's actually written in real life. Past real life collaborations are also off limits if they're in the same vein as their actual work. For example: She should record a ballad with John Legend a la "With You I'm Born Again", or a "Breakdown" type of song with Bone Thugs. You can pick John Legend if you want, you just can't say a ballad like something they've already done in real life. Total suspension of disbelief is needed, obviously. This could prove interesting, however.

Re: I wish you well, Fly like a bird or Saving Grace? (66,457) (66,460) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
True. Let me put it this way: there's all of Mariah's attempts at gospel, and then there's Fly Like A Bird. That song is a crowning achievement and is the best closing song for a Mariah album. Ever. I know it, you know it, we all know it, heck - you damn well know even Mariah herself knows it. It's always gonna be the best finale song for any Mariah setlist.
