Live performances (74,056)
by B from USA

When performing live Mariah should rearrange her songs like she did with TGIFY. Thus eliminating the need to rely on a backing track for the wall of Mariah's and the whistles in the background.

Mariah best ballad since Butterfly? Are you serious? We Belong Together? For The Record? Mariah's Theme, or Cry.

Stella will receive a check and that's about it. Once she no longer manages Mariah no one will even remember her name.

She's either hosting or always a guest host on some talkshow. The show she was on when she gave her opinion on Miley's comments about Mariah.

Does anyone know what Da Brat is up to these days? Are she and Mariah still close? She always seemed to be a true friend to Mariah, always defending her in the media and staying above the drama. I believe the last time she worked with MC was on "OOC". Is that right?

I absolutely love that Honey performance. Of course you can hear how much her voice had changed, but it was just a fun performance. She looked happy and like she was just enjoying herself. None of the pat my hair and my boobs nonsense. Her trying to dance always makes me happy. Lol. I miss this. Vocally she wasn't at what some may deem her best, but she got on that stage and she worked with what she had.

I wouldn't say I dislike The Art of Letting Go, it just never hit me like some of her other ballads. I think I've listened to that song maybe twice and it's never been a song that I just needed to listen to when it pops up on my playlist. I can say that if I had to choose between TAOLG and Crapfinity, I'd definitely choose TAOLG. I'd choose the unreleased track Sprung over Crapfinity and I hate Sprung with a passion. Lol. Even though I have a love hate relationship with parts of I Don't, I would choose that song over both TAOLG and You're Mine. You're Mine is another song I don't have to hear all the time unless it's maybe the remix. I prefer the remix. Trey Songz yodeling kind of makes the song not so boring. Lol.

At this point I think that Mariah is probably as toxic as Stella is, that would explain why most of her old and faithful friends run away from her.

One of the many reasons I love Mariah. These vocals are gorgeous. Open Arms has always been especially chilling to me, given how she says she felt at the time. Thanks for posting.

Me and Mariah "go back like babies and pacifiers" (74,042)
by Badr from USA

Well, it's been a while since the last time I've posted something. I can see Mariah's been acting a bit erratic lately, but she's given us decades of great music and performances. I've personally truly cared for The Elusive Chanteuse and most of her records prior to The Emancipation of Mimi. That's why, throughout the years, I bought albums, singles, books, posters, so I could build a decent collection. I'm moving and have decided to sell part of my beloved collection. I have some rare and awesome items in mint condition. I'll be selling these items on eBay but wanted to share them with you guys first because you're fans. I am flexible with the prices for the people of this board. The list is available here and you can contact me at badyr_iv@outlook.com. Thank you Eric in advance for helping me spread the word.

Stella knows how to make herself some side cash. That's why she keeps Mariah booked in stuff regardless of whether it's up to Mariah's standard or not. I find it difficult to understand how someone like Mariah who has been in the business (and burned several times by people she trust including her own blood) still doesn't see how mixing her business with her personal life is only going to make things worse. I also don't get how she thinks people on her payroll can ever be true transparent friends to her. And people that still are transparent with her (like Lee who went on record to say that Mariah is too fragile to be doing a reality show and JD who said that sometimes Mariah doesn't take her career seriously, and Randy who said he told Mariah it's not a good idea to get in a reality show) get the kick (literally for Lee haha and JD was boycotted for quite a while). Do I agree that these people should have gone public to say these? No, but who knows, maybe they tried to speak to her privately and it didn't work. I mean she gets really pissed whenever anyone calls MW a reality show yet she herself said that it's not what she hoped it would be. Anyways back to her not getting what Stella is doing, for someone like Mariah, who has been played so many times, I'm surprised she's not suspicious of Stella at all even after all the huge consecutive messes that Stella pulled.

I really think Mariah is going to regret signing this on with Stella. This is Mariah's and her children's ticket in years to come and if this movie actually does take off or become a classic, Stella will always get part of the royalties. Say she and Stella finally have that falling out and Mariah is finally "done" with her and puts up that wall, she will always be tied to her with her favorite time of year. For MC's sake I do hope it does well, dumb move on Mariah's part, smart one on Blusherella.

I personally think that "The Art of Letting Go" is Mariah's best ballad since "Butterfly" - and is one of my all time favourites. People's tastes are so interesting. I, for instance, would take "Infinity" or "I Dont" any day over "You're Mine (Eternal)".

Say it again. People forget that as easy as money comes is as easy as it can go and too many things point towards Mariah needing money, even if she's not necessarily broke. Yet it's certainly hasn't been lost on me either that her energy seems to be devoted to acquiring any little bit to support these leeches. They all partake in Mariah's lifestyle on Mariah's dime but not can afford it nor, at least, offer Mariah "gas money" so-to-speak to help her upkeep it. Stella is certainly not top of the heap as far as producers go. She hasn't done anything for Mariah's career that's bringing in much money on for Mariah, let alone herself and Mariah is the first artist she's ever managed. The rest are just useless. Tonka Toy is just a broke idiot she keeps around for dumbass entertainment. I wish Mariah would do the smart thing and realize that one of the best things she could do for her pocketbook would be drop all these leeches and letting employees take advantage 24/7.

I'm not sure which was her first performance in 1997 but Wikipedia says the first live performance of Honey was in the UK on ToTPs. So I am assuming it is this video. I could be entirely wrong though and someone else here may know better?

Merriest Christmas on Hallmark (74,036)
by Musti from UK

Just watching this special from a couple of years ago. I'd almost forgotten how amazing she was here. From her voice to her ensembles, absolutely everything was on point. Silent Night from that night is one of her best performances of the song ever (in my opinion). I love her voice and all the faces she goes through on Joy to the World. This might also be the only time she actually sang Here Comes Santa Claus live (well, most of it anyway). Then there was the beautiful moment with Babyface. But my favourite is God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, in a rendition that easily rivals the album version. It's everything Mariah stands for: high chest, silky falsetto, melisma runs, sustained vibrato, (near) whistle and, most of all, absolute conviction to her art. You can watch the whole thing here. On a side note, at around 11:50 where the phone declares her love for Mariah, she says "Butterfly is my all-time fave. No, I mean Emotions." I wonder if Emotions is also Mariah's fave after Butterfly.

The Art of Letting Go (74,034)
by lil star from untied states

|

Did anyone else dislike this song? It is her worst ballad in my eyes. Wasn't catchy had zero emotion behind it. The only thing I liked was that it gave us some of the last great vocal moments we got (I still play her impromptu performance to people that say she can't sing anymore). I guess the song allowed her to play around more with her vocals since it had no melody to speak of. I was kind of shocked when people started saying they loved it. I've at least gotten some drunken night plays out of "I Don't" and "You're Mine". I'm ignoring Infinity all together haha.

Mariah didn't even get signed until 1988 and she would have been only 16 in 1986 so this doesn't even sound plausible. Not to mention Stand By Me would have been made at least in 1985 if it was released in 1986.
