Re: Finally able to speak (72,902) (72,907)

Mariah did not complain because she lost, she has lost plenty of awards over the years. It was about the fact that she had the biggest song and album of the year and she was completely snubbed. You cannot tell me Alanis had a more impactful song/album when we don't even remember it but we remember Daydream, we remember One Sweet Day. This is a common thing that is done to black artists; they achieve immense success but are frequently undercut by white artists. Do not chalk this up to "bratty behavior" when it is much greater than that, stop.

You're actually making a lot of defamatory remarks here, I'm surprised you're claiming to be a lamb with that kind of rhetoric. I'm not even going to address the comments you made about her "waning" voice and that she does supposedly "doesn't bring much to the table anymore" because you and I both know that's insulting and disrespectful. What is more alarming is that you think she cannot be the type of artist to speak her mind and risk it all because of what she believes in. Those characteristics are not reserved for just Prince and Muhammad Ali, she can speak on it too. She's been in the business for nearly 30 years and we can count on our hands the amount of times she has been blunt, she's always bit her tongue. However, that does not mean she has to remain that way. She's not concerned with appeasing the masses anymore because they have continued to disparage and attack her anyway so why should she keep quiet when she's feeling a certain way? In fact, I think she's been exceptionally gracious given the amount of attacks she's been on the other end of lately. She never lashes out or argues, she literally made an honest remark and did so with a joke and a smile. If you can't handle that, then move along.

Thank you. Believe me, despite how much Stella is gassing her up to be a rude a**hole, Mariah is not "bout that life". She is not some bold rebel ready to publicly smash her Grammy's and give up on being popular to take a stand. She's not Prince or Muhammad Ali who's willing to risk their whole careers to stand up to the powers that be. She's throwing a tantrum because she thinks it will get her cool points with certain vulgar and uncivilized members of her team. That's it and that's all. Looking at her behavior now, I really do believe that her being "eternally 12" is a lot more than just a joke, it's an accurate statement. I feel like I'm watching a middle schooler who's going through an identity crisis. If Mariah was retired I probably wouldn't care as much about her Grammy's comment because she truly wouldn't need anything from anyone at that point, but if she's still trying to get radio spins and chart-topping songs, it's not smart to diss such a major corporation. I'm not saying she needed to kiss their behinds but what happened to the gracious response of "no comment" or "I'd rather not speak on that for my own personal reasons"? That way you don't have to be fake but you don't have to be rude either. If I was a major music corporation I would not want to have Mariah associated with anything related to my brand. She and her childish team publicly play the blame game too much and she's not bringing much to the table anymore that's even worth the drama. Mariah may not need or want a Grammy anymore, but other music corporations are taking note of her behavior, and they aren't going to want anything to do with her if tantrums, vocals that may or may not show up and a psychotic manager are going to be a part of the deal. If this was 1994 with her crystal clear vocals then maybe more people would want to take a chance on her despite it all but when people are already over you due to inconsistent/waning vocals, you can't afford to be perceived as a b**** too.

"Mariah is now very unlikely to add to her tally or even be nominated ever again." Something tells me she's fully aware of that and isn't bothered at all. Hence the remark.

Help needed re: Mariah covers album (72,903)
by John from USA

Someone posted a link to a guy singing acoustic versions of tracks from Mariah's Butterfly album, and had a free download link to it from his website. I lost all data from my old laptop and now am trying to get the songs back but sadly forgot what that artist's name was or the link to his website. Anybody remember this artist and have the download link to his Mariah cover album? Maybe the webmaster might know? Thanks in advance.

Stella said that DCP offered to make a joint statement. She turned them down and was rude and disrespectful to the person, from the company, whom she was on the phone with. What did they think was going to happen with Stella doing that? It is not human nature to respond to hostility and disrespect with kindness and obedience. Stella basically told them f~ck you and they returned the sentiment. Even Steven. As for the Grammy's, yes it's disappointing to lose but Mariah can't say that she was foiled simply because she didn't win an award that was up for grabs by 4 other good artists, all nominated and voted for by a large group of members who could all have varying ideas of what makes this or that album or song deserving of the win. Especially not after still going on to submit another album for consideration. Whenever there's competition, you sign up for the possibility that you'll be the loser. Plus, who even knows how much she lost by, could've been less than 5 votes for all we know. No one has wronged Mariah, not in these situations anyway. All I see is Mariah being a brat because things didn't go her way and doesn't want to take responsibility for her actions or those of the incompetent people that she hired and keeps employed.

Honesty vs. politically correct (72,901)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
| |

Obviously do you guys think that Mariah actually cares about what others think about her comments nowadays on various topics? I highly doubt she does. Honestly speaking she been around almost three decades and has seen the change in politics in the entertainment industry. As I expressed before if she cannot garner respect in her prime I doubt she gives a damn about what her peers and different power players have to say about her in her anti years. Honestly I would rather her be honest about her feelings than give a made up politically correct answer to satisfy the masses that can give a damn about her.

Blind item (72,900)
by RibbonB from USA

This interesting blind item says the Lionel tour is doomed and Mimi is pissed with her team because every single leak about her is negative. Maybe she sees the mess, but is all in and doesn't know how to get out. I have wondered this whole era why the majority of stories about her make her look bad. It is unbelievable that she and Stellar could executive produce a reality show that makes her look worse than a Kardashian.

I was reading the interview that she gave and she is right on some stuff. It is like she has to make five million comebacks. People set the bar so high for her and when she doesn't live up to it, people try to tear her apart. I see many comments about the way she dresses. Look at other stars like Lady Gaga. What Gaga had on I didn't like it but that is her and I respect her as an artist. Same goes with Mariah, my favorite artist is Mariah and what she does is her business. I am here for the music

Request I Don't at radio like the old days. All the fans that want an album sooner than later better work hard to get I Don't played. If it takes off at radio then chances are a new album will follow.

I Don't is finally going for adds at radio this week starting with the rhythmic format. Asking all the lambs in the land to please call, text, email and tweet your local radio stations to request "I Don't". Mariah needs us now more then ever and we need to show radio Mariah and this song are in high demand for them to even think about playing it. Here's a link with the biggest stations in the country and directions on how to send your requests. It's quick and easy. Lambily let's go.

It's okay to speak out but the thing is, it should've been well mannered. It'll be more acceptable if she didn't interrupt the interviewer like that and just spoke generally. Seriously that stupid remark just made her more self-obsessed and doesn't really care about her surroundings other than herself. It just wasn't cool and I can now clearly see the influence of that Stella on her. There's always a right time and right place for everything.

Wow guys, I really wasn't expecting that type of feedback. I truly appreciate those kind words. B (from USA), you are too adorable, thanks. I started playing around with editing late last year with the intention of only creating, which was my first YouTube video, MJ's "They Don't Really Care About Us". I was going through some personal matters and around that time, it seemed like every time I turned on the news, someone or groups of people were dying or being killed. I just wanted to make something that voiced how I felt and MJ's has always had a place in my heart, so it felt right. Once I saw the reaction it got from my family and friends I knew I wanted to continue, but Mariah('s music) will always have a place in my heart, so while I create videos to voice my feelings and opinions, I'll also promote and bring to light my vision of her songs. Not sure if you guys noticed, there are hidden gems that can clearly be heard with earphones in a few of the videos I've made. Enjoy it, if you do get a chance to check them out.

Yeah Mariah loves diamonds. She should cover "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" from her idol Marylin Monroe. Honestly I remember that she always fiddled with the ring from her first marriage. That one was big too. And a lot of interviewers asked her about the ring from Tommy and the "Cinderella story". She always hated the Cinderella image. We will see how long she'll wear this monster of a ring. Lol.

I Don't and the Grammy comment (72,890)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
Two things. When I heard "I Don't" I thought to myself, at least she can replicate the damn thing live. Seeing her lip parts of it on Kimmel solidified my suspicion that her five octave range is now reduced to one. Then out she came with the Grammy comment. Make of the ceremony what you will, but it's the equivalent of the Oscars for its industry. Mariah is now very unlikely to add to her tally or even be nominated ever again by that stupid remark. What was she thinking? And one additional point, being nominated six times is not the definition of a snub.

Finally able to speak (72,887)
by Nikki from usa

Did it ever occur to anyone that Mariah is being honest and has no fear of blasting anyone who's done her wrong because she no longer has to be "nice"? She's not at the top. That's the point. She's had her time and can say what she couldn't back then when she wanted to. After her snub in 2006, how many times has she returned? I also don't know where Mariah's "ego" checks in with NYE. Exactly, how many times has she ever blamed the soundtechs for the million and one sound issues she's had over the years? She hasn't. Mariah's been behind the scenes working with these things for 26 years and probably knows more about the sound issues than you do. Maybe folks should consider those 2 things. I went to reddit and sites where sound techs were talking and I didn't find a single one who thought DCP were acting like angels. The #1 thing they're supposed to do is check the equipment if everything is "fine" on their end. Mariah said multiple times she couldn't hear, repeatedly stated to "turn on the monitors", she waited for someone to fix something that never came. The sheer fact DCP claimed their were "no" tech issues when it's obvious there were proves they're lying right off the bat. No, Mariah should not bend over and be "gracious" about taking it up the rear. DCP was sold after Dick Clark's death and is currently changing hands over to a Chinese group.
