Re: Everyone asking: why open for Lionel? (71,632) (71,646) by Licia from USA
Well Lionel is a legend too. Technically neither Lionel or Mariah needs the other to tour, but for whatever reason they felt a joint tour would work and it's not a bad idea. This tour could potentially be a win/win situation for both of them. He may gain some new fans from the younger generation and she could possibly gain back older fans that she may have lost.

Re: Everyone asking: why open for Lionel? (71,639) (71,645) by Malcolm from Asia
Because we know for a fact that Mariah isn't selling in the US when it comes to touring. Maybe she deserves more but I appreciate that they billed her as "very special guest" and for me it's not really an issue because in all of the articles and Wikipedia, they mentions Lionel and Mariah as co-headliners of the tour. I think this is much better than having her own US tour that will not sell-out and will be branded as flop by the media (we know they love Mariah to fail). She needs a support first before she embarks a solo tour in her own country again, sad but true.

Re: Just lambpions (71,642) (71,644) by Licia from USA
In my opinion Crapfinity is garbage and never should have left the studio or even been thought of. The Art Of Letting Go is not a bad song. It just bores me. I'm glad that new music is coming and I'll always want new music from her, but like you I'm not going to get too excited until I hear what she has to offer.

Bad move on Stella's part. Demotes Mariah to an opening act. Whose dumb idea was this?

Just lambpions (71,642) by Danny from Uk
I think "Infinity" and "The art of letting go" are her weakest songs musically and lyrically. They don't sound like quality music from an artist of Mariah's calibre. Saying that they are old news now but the reason I'm bringing them up is because of the imminent arrival of new music. I really don't want to get excited and then to hear music that is so poor it's difficult to understand how it got released.

Re: Song spoilers (71,640) (71,641) by Norman from USA
I agree with you about BGK. It would be a good direction (at leaat to experiment with some more). SE and BGK are personal favorites of mine. Giving the song a little more energy than either of those songs would come in helpful. Maybe that's where YG comes in. Then again, he's not the producer, and neither are his producers. It's JD. I'm going to shut up now... on this post.

Song spoilers (71,640) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
According to this one person on UKMix who has heard the song, it's apparently like "Side Effects" but a little more "songy" (their words, not mine), so maybe they mean instead of the rap-sing, it's more of a "sing-sing"? Also the beat is supposedly more "ratchet" than SE, like something you'd hear on "Power" (the TV show). "The lyrics will get some hashtag", this was pretty much exactly the line used by the person, assuming it's be something like how Bruno says "hashtag blessed" in "24K Magic", but I really can live without a hashtag being involved. I love SE personally and I love the dark, haunting music it comes with, same with BGK, I would love for her to go in that direction but then again we've heard "Infamous" being compared to her old songs and "Infinity" being touted as the same level as WBT, so I'll wait and see what the song sounds like. Hopefully it will be good.

Re: Everyone asking: why open for Lionel? (71,632) (71,639) by Edward from USA
Contourella stated that her job was to create means of revenue for Mariah. She obviously doesn't care whether it would be good for her brand or not, as long as the coins keep rolling in, she and Mariah are OK with it. I don't think it is a bad idea for Mariah to tour with Lionel Richie, the man is a legend on his own right. I just think the show should be promoted as two stars coming together to bring the house down, with equal stage time. There's a reason it is called an "opening act", it's not technically their concert. Opening acts don't usually have the responsibility of the tour falling on their shoulders. They show in, do their part, and go home. Mariah can just take it easy by singing about 8 songs. So, in the end she's making coins without having to work as much as if she were the only act. I don't think it's degrading, I think it is actually a great move. They would have a full house guaranteed since fans would be flowing from both sides. It would also be a great way to promote her new single, if we could call it that way.

Re: Everyone asking: why open for Lionel? (71,632) (71,638) by TRAVON AUSTIN from United States
Mariah is co-headlining. It's all about wording because Vegas residency contracts prevent co-headlining tours to be worded as such in the USA. The loophole around this is changing the way it sounds and doing a featured act. However, being a featured act for touring is technical and does not mean they won't perform co-act. Mariah and Lionel have both confirmed it's a co-headlining tour. Nice talking to you again.

MW sneak peaks (71,636) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
This video of Mariah and Tanaka is just so cringe worthy, like why should she even approve these? Mariah clearly can't even keep a straight face with the ridiculous script and Tanaka should just stick to his day job of dancing and not even try with acting. The script looks like it's written by an 8 year old. So corny and cheesy and using one of Mariah's most personal and beautiful songs for this mess? The level of disrespect. Ok so this second clip pretty much confirms Bryan has this one very specific face that he makes when he is on a script, with his jaws clenched and a slightly visible pout. Also Bryan, do you really want the reputation of being the dude who sleeps his way to the top? I guess it doesn't matter, any publicity works. Finally some studio related talk in the third clip, this must eventually lead to the new single.

Re: Video preview (71,620) (71,635) by RibbonB from USA
Lol. Well, Mollie I think this video will have a home made look, since they probably filmed it in her house. YG was bragging on snapchat about being there with his homeys. Mariah is sparing all expense for this moment. Lol.

Everyone asking: why open for Lionel? (71,632) by Ty from USA
I'm on Facebook and a friend posts, why is Mariah opening Lionel? She is the legend. I'm not sure this is a good idea. At first I'm like, well she can win over the old-heads but now. Stella what are you doing?

Re: The rap game (71,610) (71,631) by Licia from USA
May clearly you know nothing about hip hop and it's not going anywhere. Gucci Mane was an established artist way before he started working with Mariah (I can agree that his reputation has not been the best outside of music though). Many of the artists she's worked with were and are very established. Some of them were not known as internationally or globally as her, but they were known. Lol.

Re: Over and over again (71,625) (71,630) by lil star from untied states
I agree she needs to change her sound but I don't agree that it has to be uptempo per say. A lot of artists have had hits with mid tempo songs they just have a good beat behind it . Rihanna's whole last album was midtempo but it had an edge to it that people couldn't resist. Maybe that's what JD ment by hard? Maybe we are getting a more angry Mariah? Maybe a darker one? She has shown more interest in that sound with all the Weeknd buzz. Maybe it's not the sound we were hoping (I think everyone was hoping for a more disco pop sound that she played with on YDKWTD and Meteorite).

O Screaming London Lamb (71,628) by Andrew from UK
I tried listening to Charmbracelet again; some songs are okay. But the soft cooing on every song is too much to bear. It's like trying to watch a full episode of Mariah's World without vomiting blood. Well, I jest. But it's funny how listening to an old Mariah album all the way through can make you feel like you did in the period of your life during which it was released. For me it is, anyway. All the thoughts and feelings I had at that time of my life came flooding back, memories of the people I knew well back then but have long since drifted from, the grotty place I lived in, the person I tried hard to love but dumped (in, um, Paris). I guess it's because I never really listen to it. I suppose when you listen to an artist so much, and follow them so closely in your life, that they pretty much score it. Tonight, I was thinking of those years again and I thought I'd see if anything of the London leg of Charmbracelet tour was on YouTube because I was there, and it turns out that this is. Complete timewarp. And I'm posting it because 1) I can. 2) It's pretty good. But mainly 3) Because of the intro. Mariah: "Anybody out there tonight reaching for a dream?" Screaming London Lamb: "Yeeeeesssss." Mariah: "Then this is for you. And you. And you." [pause] Screaming London Lamb: "And meeeeeeeee!" (Really do need the extra letters and the exclamation marks there.) So, if you're out there, Screaming London Lamb, in whatever place the world has taken you to since those many years ago when we were in that same arena together, it was most definitely for you. I hope you Made It Happen. You just absolutely made my night.

She was so animated and honest here. This is the artist as a true legend. I like how she glazed over the question about her vocal deterioration however - clearly not comfortable talking about it.

Re: JD tweet (71,616) (71,626) by Licia from USA
I hope JD is right this time. That was my whole issue with Triumphant. Rick's rap didn't fit the theme of the song. Meeks rap was way better and what he rapped about made sense with the song. If she would have left Rick off or his lyrics had been better Triumphant would have been much more enjoyable. Also if she would have made a non rap version of the original and just used meek and Rick for the remix (like she used to do) more fans would have been happy. I believe that's why all her collaborations from back in the day worked. We got a regular, a rap remix, and a dance mix. That pretty much gave her whole fanbase something they wanted. Also she just didn't copy and paste raps or vocals in.

Over and over again (71,625) by George Golden from UK
Please if she doesn't change her sound and do something seriously uptempo it will flop big time. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different outcome each time. Those silly rap midtempo tracks is just really lame at this point.

Re: New song (71,621) (71,623) by Norman from USA
This is at least a glimmer of hope that the vocals weren't rushed. What remains to be seen is how well YG is incorporated into the song and how they gel within it. Thanks for the update.

Mariah Wonderwall (71,622) by Luke from United Kingdom
I know this is random but I saw a Mariah fanpage post this video on Instagram the other day and I thought the song she was singing was Wonderwall by Oasis. When I listened to it again I knew it wasn't because the lyrics were different but I then imagined her singing it and how amazing it would be. Especially in that same tone. I don't know why she doesn't sing like that more often, it sounds so emotional and pleasing to the ears.
