Bleak (70,446) by Randy from USA
I have come to be considered one of the negative posters on this site and I have to admit that sometimes the criticism over her actions is harsh. People [are] upset about her website advertising fur. People [are] upset about Stella. People [are] upset about Tanaka. People [are] upset about the way she linked a CD for purchase to a tribute for George Michael. When you are a superfan, you notice every little thing she does. So when these things do not match who she claimed to be post-Tommy pre James Packer, I can see the frustration. I think people come here to vent because in the grand scheme of things, who or where can you vent your frustrations about Mariah Carey? Your spouse? Your therapist? Your co-workers? She has meant so much to so many here. I'm listening to Petals now and I am almost floored that after the millionth time listening to it, the song makes me feel emotional. It's hard for some of us to connect the woman who wrote and sang Petals, to the flabby 46 year old woman kissing her backup dancer on the beach in front of a photographer whom she later picked through photos with to go to tabloids. Everyone knows that I personally could care less about the image if she went on stage and sang, but we can't even get her to do that. I'd love to have something to celebrate Mariah Carey about on this board. I would've loved to say hey she sang well on Divas and silenced the haters. I would've loved to say hey, her new single is killing the haters. I would've loved to say, her gown at the awards show is killing the haters and she is a fashion icon. She's not giving us anything to be positive about. So like many of us, I just listen to the music we have grown to love. As of her present state, I don't see Mariah Carey when I look at her. She is definitely the Elusive Chanteuse now. On a side note, I had one of my students write me a paper relating to Right To Dream, it was freaking awesome. The fact that he had no idea MC was so lyrically gifted speaks wonders about the corrosion her image has done to her talent. Happy New Year.

That's the same picture I've seen circulate on the internet saying that Mariah's next #1 is going to feat Rihanna called "We Don't Know Her". I hear Rihanna stopped following JLo on social media after that Drake and JLo pic came out lol. I was hoping Mariah would collaborate with Drake but now all hopes are dashed. Damn that JLo lol. Ever since she stole Mariah's ideas Mariah has been two steps behind her. Now Mariah's dating a BG dancer and JLo's moved on to a top "o the day" male rapper. I mean, if you are going to start a fake relationship at least it be a hook up be one that were both parties are gaining something.

New Years performance and rant (70,443) by Dustbin from USA
I hope MC gives us a live TV performance this year. Maybe I've been reading this "negative" message board too long or I'm tired of MC's lipping, idk but I just want something to look forward to this year. If she can't sing it live then mix it up and give us something different. So tired of the live opener and then the back track kicks in for the belts and whistle. And the outfits. Just wear something different. I don't care if it's all boobs. Just stop with the glitter same cut out dress. I don't know why she even bothers buying new clothes, just pull out some glittery booby outfit from 10 years ago no one will notice.

Some posters are bleak. Others like Mimi and myself offer constructive criticisms. These are things she has to do if she wants to score another #1 or score another comeback. Or she can continue on the path she's on making the same songs using the same formula that worked before or she can step out of her (Mariah's) and release times have changed and if she wants to remain a megastar she's going to have to seamlessly update her signature song by writing and producing with Miguel and Happy Petez, Bruno and The Smeezingtons, and Frank Ocean. Working with The Weekend is a step in the right direction, as long as she allows him to write the song with her and not just use him as a featured artist on a JD song.

Article: Mariah Carey moved to tears while meeting superfan (70,440) by Giselle UrbanPoshBeauty from US of A
She looks scared lol. That scene which I previewed was a little weird. I can see why some artists are emotionally drained after doing meet and greets with fans.

Wow this board is bleak. All this great music Mariah has given us over the past 27 plus years and the majority of the fans on this board have nothing but negative things to say about our girl? I just saw Mariah in New York and that women sang her booty off and yes it was live. And excuse me, Mariah did bless us with an awesome album in 2014. I still listen to MIAM. Songs like Camouflage, Cry, Faded, even YM (Eternal) bring me to my knees. Some of you all need to get a life for real. Sure there are times when Mimi gets on my nerves and I don't agree with certain things that she does but at the end of the day when it comes to music, Mariah has never let me down. Calling Mariah and other fans vulgar names is so whack and pathetic. Like really?

"She has recorded so many songs she could release a couple of those in between albums." I never thought of Mariah doing that before but that's a really great idea. Other artist do it, put out singles versus whole albums (or she could put out a whole album of unreleased songs). It would be cool.

This is exactly what I think for quite some time. Your words are so true. I still have hope to see the great artist Mariah Carey again. Yes the music industry has changed so much and I'm happy that I have grown up with legends and with quality music and MTV. As you said I completely understand that it's another time and that she has kids. But Mariah has to much talent to only sell "products" and make a "docu". Maybe it's comfortable but we fans deserve a little bit of her outstanding gift. An album with unreleased songs would be very nice. Or even an older tour release like Charmbracelet just for the fans. Is it too much I'm asking? I don't think so. And I hate to say but Mariah can take a real break from the spotlight and come back with new ideas and brand new music.

I completely agree about the boob situation haha. It does her no favors and thing is she accentuates it more with push up bras and contours and all other tricks when she exposes them whereas they appear way smaller when it's covered. But yes the 1998-1999 was a good boob moment. And dahlin' I adore ya and enjoy ya too, you already know that. Haha. I hope you enjoy the show and I would love to hear your feedback. Sending you love and hugs.

Re: Mariah's impact (70,427) (70,435) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Yes, like Eric mentioned, he got upset when he didn't hear from her team but in Mariah's defense she doesn't owe him anything. It can be seen from the scene (and either I'm imagining it or the guy said it himself) that she didn't just grab the pendant right away. She was trying to decline it but he insisted and she probably took it to make him happy. Now that doesn't obviously entitle him or anyone to anything. He made a choice of giving the gift to her. But regardless, skipping the nasty situation that it later turned into, I'm focusing on what most Mariah fans can relate to and that's the fact that her lyrics and music has touched us all and has helped us cope with stuff in life. That's one thing every Mariah fan probably has in common regardless of what they think of her current choices. That's one thing that will always make me respect her and give her the adoration she deserves.

I remember that I wasn't sure if I was before or after a starter posting or not. I've been visiting this site since it launched in 1998. This site has always been my go to site for Mariah. It's also always been my home page.

Mariah's impact (70,428) (70,431) by Edward from USA
I remember him too. He was the one who gave Mariah a family expensive ring that had belonged to his grandmother or something. The thing is that he gave her the ring but he didn't have money to pay his rent. Well, as Stella promised him, he got to be on Mariah's World. I just think Stella did it for the sake of the show though, not because of anything else.

Re: Baby (70,421) (70,429) by B from USA
I agree. Mariah looked her best during the Butterfly era. She should make the same hues (colors) her signatures. Ms. Monroe knew white and were here's and took full advantage of it. Only problem Mariah's boobs are too big, the implants in 1999 and having children made them Dolly Parton esque. She needs a breast reduction. Until she does so she's going to be looked at as a maybe has been diva flaunting her massive clevage for attention. Designers make clothing for flat chested women. Mariah looked best in 1998 when she had only had an augmentation (compare 1997 to 1998). She needs to reduce them back to the size she had before having children. They make her look heavier than she is and I think she'll be more respected.

Yes, he is. But if I remember correctly, he wanted Mariah to support him financially with some kind of foundation and got mad when he never heard of her. After that he got really nasty and I had to ban him.

Not to take away what was a lovely moment, but isn't this the same fan who a while ago, posted about how he asked her to do all these things (follow him on social media/email him?), on top of giving her the diamond cross, and got mad because she didn't do it?

Have those days of love really gone? (70,423) by Edward from USA
I think that for such a long time we've been left with anything from Mariah but music to talk about, everything is basically about her being a diva, her rich lifestyle, a thousand products she comes with here and there, but great music like she's got us used to has definitely moved to the background. Having the occasional good song ("Help Me Make It", "Almost Home", "My Love", "Right to Dream", etc) was always inspiring and kept us focused on her artistry. She has recorded so many songs she could release a couple of those in between albums, but sadly we get nada, at least nothing with near the quality of the aforementioned songs. I know we're living in different times where celebrities' lives are exposed for everybody to see, but after a while it takes always some of the excitement of not knowing what comes next, especially from an artist like Mariah. Mariah has always been to me about her great music, deep lyrics, and exceptional delivery. The fact that she was or at least appeared to be "Make It Happen" humble gave her credibility, not that she was just looking for the next catchy or hit song. Never had I imagined that, as an artist of her caliber, things were going to be more about her personal life than her music. I just hope she takes good care of herself, since some of the greatest have left us too song, George Michael was just 53, Whitney was just 48, Michael Jackson was just 50. When I say I miss 1990-2005, I say it because I miss the artist that she was, her eagerness to craft a great song, her ability to dig deep and inspire us with her lyrics. I know she's a mother and stuff, I understand she doesn't have the time to release an album annually, but I expect her to deliver a great product when she does release something, even if it's a single song or collabo. I'll be patiently here waiting for her next music project.

Butterfly was Mariah's overall beauty peak. I mean don't get me wrong, she still remains one of the most beautiful and gorgeous woman alive, but there was something about 1997 (whether it was her newfound freedom and confidence or something else, I don't know) but she was so ethereally beautiful, it was almost too good to handle. She was sensual and sexy without it being too harsh and in your face. Her make up and that amazing honey blonde-brown hair. She somehow managed to look sexy, innocent and classy all at the same time.
