Re: Oprah (68,698) (68,700) by RibbonB from USA
Oprah always reminds people of what infamous comedian Bill Cosby used to say, "always sign your own checks". Let's hope Mariah is at least taking heed to that advice and not letting Crustella and crew handle all of her money.

Re: Oprah (68,698) (68,699) by RibbonB from USA
Shawn seems nice enough, if a bit egotistical. He also seems to be the eternal enabler. I am sure he is her nephew/legal counsel. He knows all about what she is doing but can't seem to stop her. As for the kids, Mariah said in February that she hadn't really told the kids because the really can't understand. The kids also are used to their parents annual vow renewals, so they know quite a bit about wedding outfits. I've said for months that they have been telegraphing what they planned to do and a real wedding never seemed in the cards to me at least not with M and JP. Who knows who she might end up with in the show though. Lol.

Re: Oprah (68,695) (68,698) by Lila from United States
Speaking of Oprah, Vogue Australia just did an article about what was seen in the Mariah's World premiere episode. Oprah was mentioned: "Oprah told me 'don't let anybody think that you don't put your own shoes on anymore' and she's really right," Carey tells viewers in her new E. docu series (premiering 1pm and 9. 30pm, December 5), as an assistant laces her into a pair of skyscraper platform heels. I felt that peice of information coincidentally poignant right now? IMO Oprah is trying to say don't lose touch or let others think you've lost touch or can't do for yourself/function on the most basic of levels. Mariah surely needs to follow that advice but doesn't. The article also says: "But by the first episode's end, the wedding is already looking shaky as Carey makes the decision to postpone the nuptials, originally planned for March, so she can focus on her 27-concert, 25 country Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour." This reminded me of an article I read earlier this year and I went searching for it to check the date and sure enough, it was dated March 2016 lol. If any of you saw or didn't see it, it's the one that, not only said that the wedding was postponed indefinitely, it also said, in the most nicest way possible actually lol, that Packer's momma, Roslyn, didn't like Mariah. Woman's Day sure did have their finger on the pulse with this relationship. This was before the narrative changed to Nick holding up the process and Mariah and Roslyn "growing closer" lol. I guess TMZ was right also, it was just going to be a commitment ceremony. I guess Stella was really passing them off the truth. Before Packer abruptly ended their 10-month engagement last month, the singer and songwriter took her Mariah's World film crew to a wedding dress fitting - showing fans a glimpse of the fitted, princess-style couture gown, featuring a belted waist and delicate lace, embroidered with white sequins and pale pink beading, she had planned to wear. Her daughter, nicknamed Roe (and named after her movie idol, Marilyn) also had a flower girl dress chosen and is filmed gasping at her "pretty momma". Son, Moroccan (their father is TV presenter, Nick Cannon), marvels at his mother and says, innocently: "She looks like she's gonna start to marry somebody." I know Mariah said that she hadn't told the twins she was engaged to Packer but come the entire [censored] on. How do you have the twins with you, trying on gowns, Roe has a flower girl dress, and Roc is talking like he thinks you're just playing dress up. Marry "somebody"? You were supposed to be marrying James, a specific man that everyone else already knew about. That is going to look so stupid to people. Also, taking into account the previous quote that says that the "nuptials" were planned for March, it really seems like she was just going to spring this shit on Moroccan and Monroe. "Oh, by the way, my loves, the man whose been awkwardly tagging along with us, I'm going to marry him." Last one: "Interestingly, she introduces the audience to her nephew Shawn McDonald who works for his famous aunty but is not so impressed by her racy wardrobe choices. In denial about her penchant for plunging necklines, he refers to them as 'turtle necks' and explains: 'When she came out with Touch My Body I renamed it Touch My Elbow so that I could be comfortable with it.'" I didn't know Shawn works for Mariah. I believe he's a lawyer. Right? Does he handle some of the legal aspects of her brand, if anyone knows? Personally, I find him to be annoying and a few other choice words. Full article here.

Re: My All and TGIFY live proved she can sing (68,694) (68,697) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
And that's what's frustrating. She does show glimmers of potential. Why not go all out? Leave it all out there? In 2009, Whitney was at her worst vocally, and yet she wasn't ashamed of disappointing fans, even with the backlash that ensued. At least she was being real. Everybody knows Mariah's voice has gone through hell. There's no point in keeping up the illusion that she can still sing like she can in the 90s. Sing the entire chorus and climax of My All. Sing IDWC all throughout. If that's too hard, then drop a key like she did with Emotions. This is all about pride, when people will actually be more accepting of her if she shows that she's vocally flawed. It's this charade that turns some off. She's a vocalist, period. That doesn't mean that she can't do anything else onstage to improve herself as an entertainer, but if she's trying to fool everyone to keep this image of her being a perfect singer when in fact she isn't, then what will be left of her in the future? It's bad enough that her image is at its worst since Glitter. The voice should at least buoy her back up. Focus on that. She still has it. She just doesn't use it to her advantage because she's either scared or lazy, and that's a shame. It's one thing to know the limitations of your current voice. It's an entirely different thing to try to make the audience think you still can do it like you did in the past by using playback way too much - and being bad at it. Wake up, Mariah. Come back.

Oprah (68,695) by Butterfly from
I recommend therapy sessions with Oprah Winfrey. I find her behavior really disturbing. Her ego, diva antics and obsession with money, diamonds, her boobs and attention. Why can't she be humble and appreciative? She was blessed with a godly talent. Use that talent in a positive way. She's so into herself it scares me. It's not cute and respectful to be late all the time. I loved Ellen's attitude. And I wish she stopped with that fake dumb personage. Get over yourself and get some humble therapy with Oprah.

My All and TGIFY live proved she can sing (68,694) by Ty from USA
I saw it live several times, she can still sing. She still has some power, some of the lower register while she is still playing tricks with the whistles. The woman clearly can still sing. You all are way to harsh.

Re: Comeback (68,692) (68,693) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Still from her. The studio perfectionist, roided-out, hundred take-r, super-engineered version of her. And we still haven't talked about the proper production process. So in a weird way, it's like having Britney in the studio, only older and with much more vocal expertise that she probably can still tap into live if she really tried and wanted to, but would rather mime, touch herself and gyrate awkwardly, because apparently that's what really matters now.

Re: Comeback (68,689) (68,692) by Andrew from UK
Can we stop with the "imitation of Mariah Carey" nonsense. Granted, her use of melisma and vocal acrobatics outdid most people 92-95, but Christina Aguilera after 2002 did not imitate Mariah. Not many people do. They realised they can't pull it off. However, facts are facts. Mariah's voice is [censored]. She's lip-syncing Infuhmuzz. She can't reach anything out of two octaves. We can all pray for a new album, which I am sure will have amazing acrobatics. But she can't actually produce this shit in person. So, I have to ask, where are these sounds coming from?

His new one, 24K Magic, trumps both his debut and Unorthodox Jukebox in terms of throwback execution and cohesiveness. You should check that one out.

Comeback (68,689) by Tameka walker from United states
I think Mariah Carey is a phenomenal singer. She can have a comeback under the guidance of LA Reid. No one can touch that phenomenal voice that she has. Granted that her voice has suffered some wear and tear that is to be expected. So many of today's singers try so hard to imitate Mariah Carey. From Christina Aguilera, Ariana grande, beyonce the list goes on. Well all these women are talented in their own right. They are not prolific like MC. Mariah has monumental phenomenal talents. Here voice with in itself is A++ amazing. Her songwriting is very prolific who do you know have written 17 out of 18 number ones. If she did this several times over she will do it again. I think she will be making another comeback in 2017.

I love the cute moments too. I really love how Roc and Roe sing and speak in harmony. They are getting so very tall.

Divas Christmas (68,684) by RibbonB from USA
Now I am so hype for this and I love what Chaka Khan said, "The roof will be raised in this piece." I hope it is so, I hope it is so. I love Aretha, but after her long Thanksgiving game song performance, I will look forward to her on the next one. I am so glad we still have her singing and playing at her age.

Re: Mariah and Jazz (68,612) (68,682) by Terna from Nigeria
No, no and um, no. Jazz is for oldies. What I want is another slayage era on par with Butterfly and The Emancipation Of Mimi. But with current sounds, current producers. A perfect blend of pop and R&B like we all know she's still very capable of, and massive big voiced ballads that would reign supreme breaking the Beatles record.

You're tripping or you simply misheard the lyrics which everyone has done before. It has always been "I'm so 3008
You so 2000 and late".

It was so cute. I live for the family moments. I don't mind Nick's turbans but I wish he'd just wear the thicker ones only and he could've left that shirt in his suitcase lol and worn a button up.

Bruno Mars (68,675) by Licia from USA
One of you made a post about his album and I can't find it. Anyway he has a nice album. Although I like a few of his old songs and I think he's super talented I wouldn't consider myself a big fan. I'm impressed though. Out of 9 songs there are only maybe 2 songs I'm not completely sold on. I hate when I don't really pay attention to an artist. Now I need to listen to his other albums to see what I missed.

Yes those pictures are precious and I love that even though Mariah is stubborn about many things (some good some bad) she puts aside her ego for the kids and makes it a point to involve Nick in the major festivities in their lives. Also admire her inviting over Nick's mom, wish her own mom was around too, I hope they are on good terms. I am also so done with that darn turban haha, like Nick please stop. But all in all, happy to see them all together.

Since no one has mentioned R.E.M yet, I will (you said you forgot the original artist/band). Everyone should listen to their version (the original one). That's the best one.

Thanksgiving pics with Nick and the kids (68,671) by Licia from USA
The pics and the little video clip was super cute. I'll always give Mariah and Nick props for making the holidays special for the kids despite the mess that both have going on. I also love that Nick's mom is there. Seems as if he always makes sure she's around for the kids. Sidenote: I'm sick of Nick and this damn turban. Lol.

The 4 123 comeback 2017 / legacy (68,670) by Bobby A from United States
Everybody remember Robert-Anthony said this: Mariah's next album is going to be her most personal ballad-driven album of her career. We can expect an album that is cohesive, fun, heartfelt and reflective. I believe she is more focused than ever to deliver to her fans an album that will be perceived to be a classic Mariah album and timeless. What a year is has been for her. She is going to deliver in 2017. It may take awhile to get the album completed, but we should have a first single sometime in May for the summertime and a full album sometime in September or October. I am full of expectations for this album because what does she have to lose. She has created a legacy that is untouched and has been unobtainable by other artists who came out in the 1990s. Her songs are timeless compositions - too many singles to name, too many album cuts to name, too many B-sides to name, and too many remixes to name. What other artist from the 1990s has her legacy? So instead of bashing her and being negative, send her positive tweets and messages encouraging her to deliver to her fans in 2017. Start those positive messages today. Tweet L.A. Reid asking him to guide this 2017 release like he guided The Emancipation of Mimi. Remember how he sent her back to studio with Jermaine Dupri and that revisit to the studio resulted in "We Belong Together." WBT saved her career. We have to help save a career again He is counting on Mariah's next release to be a bonafide hit. He listens to her fans. Tweet him today. I tweet him all of the time asking him to guide Mariah in choosing the right direction to take her new album. I am anticipating the following collaborations in 2017:
1. The Weeknd
2. Brunos Mars, The Smeezingtons and Shampoo and Curl
3. Ryan Tedder
4. DJ Khaled
5. DJ Mustard
6. Walter Afansieff
7. Darryl "Hey DJ" Camper
8. The Dream
9. Jazmine Sullivan
10. Detail
11. Drake and Noah "40" Shebib
12. IIangelo
13. Max Martin
14. Mark Ronson
15. Drumma Boy
16. Jermaine Dupri, Johnta Austin, Crystal Johsnon, and Bryan-Michael Cox
17. Calvin Harris
18. Diane Warren
19. Ashley Gorely
20. Mike Will Made It
21. Timbaland
22. TC Mack
23. Harold Lily
24. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis
25. Missy Elliot
