Defending Mariah (68,993) by Mara from United States
So I have a quick question for you guys. The other day my mother said to me about the Beacon show "Aren't you embarrassed to say you are going to see her?" Now that comment hurt me more than anything because my mom has known what a die hard lamb I have been since 1990 and even emulating the hair and style throughout the 90's. She literally has been informed of everything Mariah since day one, sometimes by no choice but she always thought Mariah was beautiful with the voice of an angel. Now for her to say that to me after all these years hit me. I just normally laugh people off and have always defended her and had my responses lined up. Now, today is different. My response has been "I don't know anymore, I can't even defend her anymore" but as MC said about Whitney, we will always have the music and her back catalog and recordings. As I type this, I am listening to her Stevie tribute "You and I". What a voice in that song. But just curious what other lambs/fans have been saying to people when they go off on MC these days.

Re: Beach picture (68,990) (68,992) by Mara from United States
Lila, I'm glad someone else noticed that too. I was holding back on commenting on that but somehow seeing her with that glass this time just rang an alarm. It has been an ongoing thing as we know, but literally a glass on the beach is really necessary? Even the clip with Shawn, there it was. It's never too early for a "splash" for Mariah. That is the reason for that bloated face and belly too and why her weight fluctuates so often, and also why her voice has such a dry sound and her speaking voice has aged to the point of a smoking 70 year old. Sorry for being so harsh but her speaking voice used to be so beautiful being smooth with that little bit of huskiness, now along with the splashes Dahhling and the diamonds, it just ages her. Diamonds are the only thing she cares about anymore according got her Ellen interview and yes, they are aging her too. I don't mean to sound like I'm being negative but I honestly don't know anymore. My show is coming up soon for the Beacon and I am more nervous than excited. I just hope she has it together. Last year and in 2014 she was flawless and especially after the disaster that was the tree lighting she had something to prove. Now, I'm not so sure what to expect. I honestly am worried about Mariah and all this talk about Charmbracelet which I have a soft spot for too since it was the first tour I saw Mariah live at (Trump Taj Mahal AC) and remember staying at the casino next to Taj and we were watching the top floor of the Taj imagining it was prob Mariah's room lol where the penthouse suites were and all the lights were on. Anyhow, I'm rambling like MC. I have been listening to TTR and MSG and almost brought to tears as I really wish she would come back.

Now I gotta listen to the song and sing it in my fake accent.

Re: Beach picture (68,950) (68,990) by Lila from United States
I don't know what's more tragic, this picture proving to us that she really thought these pictures and that bathing suit were a good idea or the fact that she still had to have a glass of wine just to spend what was most likely not even an hour, on the beach, to take some staged photos.

Re: Weekend's "Die 4 u" sounds mariahish (68,976) (68,989) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Love that track. Some people are slamming Starboy because it's The Weeknd's most commercial-sounding album to date. I personally don't mind if he moves away from the dark alternative sound of his earlier work. To me it isn't selling out as long as it sounds good.

Grammys 2017 (68,988) by Nowayjoseh from UK
I have seen a recent post promoting Mariah's World and winning tickets for the 59th anniversary of Grammys 2017. Anyone know if she may be performing?

Charmbracelet (68,987) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
This will always be special to me as it is the first Mariah album I have ever owned (cassette). Some of my favorite songs on that album happen to be the most polarizing or neglected in her entire catalog, such as Boy (I Need You), There Goes My Heart (bonus track on some CD editions), I Only Wanted, You Had Your Chance, Yours, My Saving Grace and Lullaby. I also thoroughly enjoy the more revered ones: Through The Rain and its remix, Subtle Invitation, and The One. It remains one of her warmest and most humane-sounding albums, and showcases Mariah at her humblest and most relatable. I find myself playing this album more often these days, as it reminds me about a time when Mariah was much, much more likable as a person.

Cruise Control (68,986) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
I've always thought of this particular song as a summer jam and with the proper promotion this was another hit that may have slipped through Mariah's hands. Honestly I have always seen E=MC2 as the as the fun top 40 radio album.

The hardest part (68,985) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Is not that this has been the least sympathetic I am of Mariah since I have ever known her as a singer. The worst part is that when I go through through my posts since I started actually posting here, I realized just how much I have changed, too. Like many of you, I have been one of those really die-hard fans. Or at least I thought I always was. And to some extent I still somehow am. I also would defend her like there wasn't any other option. And if this sounds awfully familiar to you, it's because it's your story, too. It's like she's a completely different creature (yes, creature) these days. Seems like she has finally found the people who can indulge her every whim, and maybe she earned it after being with us for over 26 years, but if this is who she really is, then I'm not really sure if I can be ride-or-die for long. Sure, I'll still be looking forward to new music and smile if I hear her pull off (translation: scream, force) some vocal acrobatics, I guess that's second nature to me now, but I just find it so disappointing that she doesn't seem to realize and care anymore how much it pains us to see her sink to newer lows everyday. She owes us at least that much.

Re: Cruise Control (68,978) (68,984) by Edouard from France
You're right Daren (thank you for focusing on the good things, btw). This album may not be my favourite, but all the songs are very radio friendly. Cruise Control might be too close to Shake It Off in terms of style but I don't know. Love the song. should've been a single along with Migrate and Love Story.

Re: Cruise Control (68,978) (68,983) by Licia from USA
I think I'm the only fan who didn't get the whole Migrate hype (kind of like The Roof hype). It's not a bad song. I just never got into it. Cruise Control is a song I'm just now falling in love with. When the album was released I was too stuck on Love Story, For the Record, Last Kiss (my favorite), Thanx for Nothing, and I Wish You Well to give Cruise Control a fair shot.

Positivity (68,982) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
On to more positive news, last I checked AIWFCIY has already surpassed its peak of #13 on iTunes in 2015 and is now at #12. Will probably be going higher soon. So that's great. Maybe we'll get a new peak on the Hot 100, fingers crossed for Top 5, although personally I think they should just make it an honorary #1. Secondly, the clip with Shawn and Mariah was cute. I like that she talked about the past, which we fans know but the GP tuning in might not know and may help them understand her a bit better. Also loved the Bianca clip. Hope to see more of her there. The other clip with Big Jim was nice too. Love that she was making up a song on spot. That's the side of her I want people to see. So I'm hoping that the main teaser was misleading and they have good content in the show and not over the top drama, although with all the stunts I'm a little nervous.

Re: Mariah's World (68,973) (68,981) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
This may sound like I'm overreacting but in a recent article she they wrote something like "the E Star" when talking about Mariah, like you know how they write/say "the E star said this". I cringed just a little because usually when referencing her it's always "the Vision of Love hit maker" or the "WBT hit maker". As I write this, I realize this might come across as a little dramatic on my part, but it is what it is. I'm going to keep hoping that when all this is over, we get what the fans really want and that's a solid album. Nothing depressing though.

Re: Cruise Control (68,978) (68,980) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I love E=MC2 and every song on that album was single material. Not just single material, it was hit material too. If only the project wasn't abandoned mid way.

Article: Mariah Carey talks growing up with "nothing" (68,979) by IfWeeeeee from Over There
It's hilarious how she tries to show off her riches by wearing every piece of jewelry she owns at the same time. She's really rubbing me the wrong way now. She's become this over-bloated personality and I no longer can stand her. Mariah, I know we're all just wasting internet bandwidth and electricity with our words, because you don't listen to anyone who disagrees with you, but you need to get over yourself and get over your really cheap stunts - they're beyond gross now.

Cruise Control (68,978) by darrian liu from taiwan
Can't nobody can't nobody tell me that this song ain't a number one. E=MC2 is my least favorite album out of all Mariah albums but the hit potential of the songs in this album is unreal. We've established that Migrate is her 19th number one that got away but I feel that Cruise Control is also one of those songs.

Re: Albums (68,961) (68,977) by darrian liu from taiwan
The One has hit potential, it's a shame that they didn't release it as a single. But I think Boy is really catchy and the melody is super easy to remember, it's a cute song.

Listen to this song, clearly his best ballad. Imagine Mariah singing it.

Matthew and Edward (68,974) by Ty from USA
I agree with both your comments. CB is a cd I only listen to the ballads, but it's my fave tour because she looked incredible and sang. Right now she's working so hard because she's over it. She won't stop sipping so she lips here and there. When I met her two months ago again, she seemed happy and looked so thin not sure what happened.

Re: Mariah's World (68,927) (68,973) by IfWeeeeee from Over There
Remember when she used to be compared to Whitney? Feels like a long time ago. Nowadays, she's being compared to a Kardashian. Oh how the mighty have fallen. I would watch Mariah's old interview clips from the 90s and she looked and sounded so down to earth and she was all about the music. Nowadays, she's all about the "image", "lighting", "angles", "daahhhling" - that down-to-earth woman has turned into a high-maintenance, constantly rambling and cheap version of herself. What a waste.

Re: Music (68,933) (68,971) by Licia from USA
You are right. What she does is her business, but when you pull attention seeking stunts and broadcasts these stunts for the whole world to see you kind of make it everybody else's business. Furthermore Mariah is too old to be "acting out" and I doubt this behavior comes from a break up with a man I honestly don't feel she really cared about. She wants attention and she's getting it whether it be good or bad.

Charm-girl, I mean Licia (68,969) by Edward from USA
Charmbracelet is one of those albums that I don't think about much, but when I play it, I really enjoy it. I love "I Only Wanted" and the way Mariah fast-sing on "Clown", it's pure art. Her voice sounds like a soup you're sipping on slowly so it won't ever end. Charmbracelet is one of those albums that the older it gets, the better it sounds everytime I revisit it. Licia, after losing all your hair ending up looking like Kevin Hart, you're entitled to request the webmaster to censor any post talking bad about Charmbracelet. Only I could talk bad about, since I'm the one giving the idea, so when I don't like any of your post, I could torture you with a Charmbracelet rant. Charmbracelet is one of those albums that the older it gets, the better everytime I revisit it.
