Empire (65,076) by RibbonB from USA
Good Luck to Mariah on Empire. I hope not too little too late. The show is alright, but starting to decline. I at least hope it's a good song that "Kitty" comes up with. I hope Cookie interacts with her character and a few sparks fly. A scripted show is the time for drama, cattyness and silliness. Lol.

Couldn't agree more. We all have good points and it's nice that we are not blindsided by these whole mess. From all the petition, the rants, etc., I guess I can say that we already did our part as a fan and proved different points. It's now time for her to take action or response from all of this if that "my fans are very important to me" is true up until now. That "my fans are unparalleled, nobody gets it", no Mariah, we maybe unparalleled but you're the one that we no longer gets.

Exactly what I feel. An 18 year old Carey wrote "Vision of Love" while a 37 year old wrote "Touch my Body". Hard to believe it's the same person.

Wow. It's amazing how many likes your post amassed. I'm so glad you articulate this point so well. I'm at the edge and really want her to turn it around. Whoever this person she is now is gross and I don't recognize her. She seems lonely and is putting on a front so that the works thinks she has fortune, looks, and love. I don't buy it. I wish she'd find Jesus again or whatever humbleness she retained when she was in the 90s. So sad. I feel like we're watching Michael Jackson in his decline.

For me it's also hard to look at some things she does and says the last two years. Mariah was never like that. At the beginning she was just amazing, so sweet and so unique. There was definitely magic in her eyes and her smile. Just look at her "old" interviews. That was her real character. When Mariah was shy she was the sweetest person on earth. Then she became a princess but there were never "moments" were you feel embarrassed. Maybe she got hurt so much that she started to create that Mimi-character which reminds me of a cartoon. But anyway does somebody know what happened to Camp Mariah or the Fresh Air Fund? I loved how she talked to the kids back in the day 96, she was on top with her record but seemed so normal.

This is it, she's coming on Empire. Plus we will hear a brand new song from her as well. I just hope it will go down well, crossing my fingers for that.

Eric, I couldn't agree more. As I said before, she's going to have a rude awaking if she doesn't do something to come across in a way people could relate to her or at least to her music. She says her fans are important to her, but when most of us that have been supporting her for ever don't feel that, it should be an indication that her reality is definitely distorted whether it is on purpose or not.

I really hope Mariah releases one of her best albums and promotes the hell out of it, but that the album flops anyway. I know this sounds strange from one of her biggest fans for the last 22 years, but I'm afraid that is the only way Mariah wakes up and wonders what went wrong. Maybe only then she realizes she's not relatable anymore and that's why she lost so many fans. She still says her fans are important to her, but I really doubt that. On another note, maybe if Mariah would support some charity the way Sting, Bono and Princess Diana did (and by that I mean not only accepting some award but travelling around the world and talking to world leaders about rain forests, landmines etc), without personal gain, maybe then Mariah would be liked more by the general public. Mariah has already enough money to live luxerous for the rest of her life, so not everything she does has to be for money.

Thanks Shezz. I don't like being negative about Mariah, but I can't really turn a blind eye to some of the things she does, because if someone did the same thing to her, we'd be all up in their business.

I agree. I find this very sad. As a fan who fell in love with her voice way back in 1990, I have been a lifelong fan. Through the years I noticed the little changes in her personality but it wasn't that drastic of a change as it has been lately. It seems that she has gotten worse with age, and I always hoped that by becoming a mother that she would mature, when in fact it seems to be getting worse. It's heartbreaking but I find myself repulsed by this "new" or different Mariah. I guess this lavish lifestyle has finally gotten to her head, she seems more conceited, self centered, and arrogant then ever. It really is sad. I hate that this has happened. Is this the real her? Was she always this way even from the beginning? Who knows? All I know as a fan now I am barely hanging on by a thin thread, one more disappointing album or more immature incidents and she might lose me as a fan for good. Not that she will care. I will always love the classy classic Mariah, but I don't know who she is anymore.

Pettiness: in reverse (65,064) by Edward from USA
While many look for a thousand ways to justify Mariah's pettiness/cattiness and complains about what she went through while having a regular job that paid her what most of us won't make in our lifetimes for just sitting pretty and expressing her views, a job that if we're honest she didn't do that well, I don't understand the use complaining and whining about it, it is ridiculous, and it says more about her than them when everybody seems to have moved on. Especially when Mariah had always taken the classy "I'm not addressing you" attitude back when she was really popular. Mariah always kept things classy. Oddly, as she gets older, her attitude becomes more juvenile. I just hope there's something left when her bubble bursts because this Mariah, that in my opinion can't hold a candle to 90's Mariah, and not talking about the voice here, seems to be mentally aging backwards. I remember when fans believed and defended with teeth and nails the story about the magical push-up bras female fans kept on looking to achieve her size but never found. Mariah one day has normal boobs and all of a sudden she found some magical push-up bras that made her breast 10 times bigger. Just because Mariah said it or did it doesn't mean it is ok. You took your 18 million and could've done something about it if you wanted to, but you didn't, then shut the f**k up and go on. You're supposed to be a legend not a trashy reality TV star. If somebody is advising her that this type of attitude is what's going to give her a monumental comeback, she'd better think twice. People who know her on a personal level might like her, but most people hate this persona she portrays to the General Population. You're not Marilyn Monroe, these are not the 50's, wake up while you still can. Then we'll be sitting here looking for a producer to blame, a manager to crucify or a record label to demonize when her next project flops. And this is not about the quality of her music, she could have a wonderful album, but these days attitude/relatability and perception is very important. Sorry for the rant.

AI Shade (65,062) by Mirage_Nunez from America
Oh okay so it was Lazaros (the guy with the speech impediment) that spoke out against MC's AI shade. I was thinking it was Devin the whole time (he's the guy Mariah loved and really believed in), which would've surprised me. Anyway I'm not surprised at how harsh and biased Lazaros statement was because he's shaded Mariah before in the media. I believe he's had it out for Mariah ever since her last critique of his Carpenters performance when he didn't change the key of his voice when the key changed in the song. Anyway I agree with both sides of the argument. I believe MC has every right to speak her truth on the AI experience. However, I also think that she should add American Idol to her "do not ask me about" list at this point in her career, because other people will only see that she's complaining about making a fortune. As a fan I feel and agree with her sentiments though Nicki's attitude was foul and the producers did seem biased and catered to her attitude, because they felt she would bring in the ratings. Boy were they wrong. Anyway letting go ain't easy Mimi, but you have to shake it off and rise steadily sailing out of their reach.

I also never understood what the big issue was with there being another female judge. It should not have mattered who the other judges were. Just go do what you're paid to do and go home. I agree that Mariah needs to stop answering these AI questions in the way that she has been. As you can see her comments are being blown out of proportion by the media. There's nothing wrong with saying "AI is an experience that if given the opportunity again I would not repeat" and leaving it at that. Even though we as fans know she's joking, the general public and the media will always go that extra mile to use her words in a way to make her look bad. Just like the J.Lo situation, she continues to give them ammunition and as long as she continues to give those type of answers they will continue ask about it because drama is what they want.

Re: Article: "American Idol" contestants react to Mariah Carey (65,057) (65,059) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am not trying to act like Mariah's career will end because of AI. I don't even care about AI, and even Mariah being on the show didn't give me an incentive to watch it, because honestly it's not my type. No where did I say, if Mariah doesn't do this, she'll flop away. I said that it's been 3 years, she has been through worse and so she should just let it go at this point. She has made it very clear that she didn't enjoy it, no one will forget that, so at this point she can just take the high road and not give it more headlines/interview time than it already got. I don't think a person of her legendary status needs to keep calling a reality show abusive and call her co-workers Satan. Complaining about it whenever it is mentioned won't really do much. Because all people are hearing is "Oh I had to tolerate Nicki's outrageous behavior for a mere 18 million dollars." It's just not a good look. That's all I said.

Re: Rick Nowels producer (65,048) (65,058) by RibbonB from USA
I guess I wouldn't mind hearing more of Happy's work with Mariah, but I actually thought the production on Beautiful was sloppy and not very polished. I was a big champion for Mariah co writing with Miguel because he was hot then, with Adorn and I thought he had something fresh, but she was almost a feature on the song, so it was not that impressive to me. I think the momentum came from the Miguel connection, but that fizzled with a stupid video and silly live performances. I still cringe thinking of her on that bale of hay while Miguel romped around the stage. Maybe they wanted to hide his short stature compared to Mariah, but they never worked that right and the remix was terrible. Not to mention the remix video was the beginning of the end of an era and a lot of misfortune for Mariah. She should not look back at that fiasco IMO. Mariah seems to have squashed a lot of the potential of her last best opportunities.

Well, you just proved my point. Mimi, you act as if Mariah is killing her career by speaking out about a show that screwed over tons of people. If you don't believe me, then ask most of the winners. AI made its own bed, and yet you are miffed about Mimi saying anything about it. I do not need to write a whole novel on my views. I am calling like I have seen it for years and years.

So the ET interview Mariah did with E. will be airing next week. Here is the promo. She'll be giving a tour of her yacht but they said she'll also announce something big. Now as much as I want to jump with joy, the "big" news might just be her announcing her SSFT Latin America tour haha.

They added Kara Diguardi as a judge while Paula was still there and they got along great and then Ellen was there with Kara but of course Ellen isn't exactly like adding a typical female. I remember Mariah tweeting her disappointment when they added another female judge. She probably decided to try to make it work. We all know very well how she can't let go off things and be diplomatic anymore. Hell hath no fury like a diva scorned.

"I wish she would've never gave into doing the show or backed out when she saw that they didn't honor her wishes, because when you agree to do sometime you just have to make the best of however bad the situation is." This is what I feel too. She could have backed out if it bothered her so much. Regardless, what happened has happened three years ago, Mariah has faced worse real abuse in her life. She can surely move past this and dismiss it with a simple "It's just something I wish I wasn't a part of". But going to interviews calling her co-workers Satan, and calling the experience abusive is a tad dramatic. I agree that they shouldn't have added a 4th judge when they didn't do it for Paula and JLo (both before and after Mariah), but surely Mariah got wind of it before she stepped on the promo round? If it bothered her, she had the option of throwing the money on their faces and walked out, she really doesn't need it. Going on and on about it, she is burning bridges with a lot of big names (and no I'm not talking about Nicki). Mariah faced more humiliation with her Rockefeller incident of complaining and burning bridges, she is back to NBC right? That is a professional move. The Radar rumor is something I don't really buy, I don't think they are reputable and at that time everyone was trying to come up with conspiracies to add more fuel to the drama. Anyways I respect your point of view Lamb O' Chop. I always appreciate calm collected thoughts and responses instead of people with one liners saying "I don't agree with the haters like some people on this message board" and then fail to provide a solid argument or even a defense. You are definitely one of my favorites on the board even though we may disagree on things.

Mariah has a right to label the experience on AI, however she's chooses the producers asked MC to join the panel telling her she would be the only female judge and knowing Randy Jackson was her friend and manager at the time the persuit for MC was even more aggressive I'm sure. To add another female and bickering was all for ratings as you see they did not put two female judges during any of the Jlo or Paula years by the time both MC and Nicki joined the panel the ratings were down the tubes and they needed something to draw interest in the show again.
