I'd recommended Happy Perez. #Beautiful seamlessly updated her signature sound and is her strongest single since 05.

Rick Nowels producer (65,046)

Now this is a type of producer Mariah should work with. All those wanting MC to work with Lana Del Rey, should look to this guy, who has produced a lot of her work. He has been putting out great records for a variety of artists for decades. I was reminiscing about Anita Baker's Body and Soul, which he co-wrote and thought about him. He knows his way around a song and likes to write classic ones tailored to the artist he works with. He is one that works quietly and impressively. JD is great for a couple of songs, but M. needs to find a real quality and versatile collaborator who can play instruments.

But she's telling the truth. Yes she was the highest paid judge and it was three years ago, but they did mislead her into thinking he'd be the only female judge, they instigated and encourage the Nicki drama, they'd always cut her off/start playing music half way through her critiques. And let's not forget the secret plot to replace her with JLo (of all people) in the middle of the season (as reported by radar.com). It's like they begged and pleaded with her to do the show all this time, just to jerk her around. You don't treat a respect legend like that period. I noticed the abuse just from watching it on tv, so I'm sure it was even worse being there. That contestant can't speak for Mariah's experience I'm sure he was in his own world trying to win the competition. Sometimes it's not about the money, it's about respecting someone's worth and not dragging into a messy situation. Even though I could use the 18 mill , I'm sure when you're Mariah Carey your brand is more important. She could always make money just from her celebrity status. Now I will say, I wish she would've never gave into doing the show or backed out when she saw that they didn't honor her wishes, because when you agree to do sometime you just have to make the best of however bad the situation is.

She was right on. They threw money in her face, and stuck her with an ill-temper hoochie. The show was cancelled three years after she left. Unlike some folks on this message board, I don't agree with every hater in the media. If these people thought that Idol was so great, then they should be making money, not trolling our girl.

It looks like the feud started out like fun back/forth but then grew into something more toxic. Rivalry is better for ratings as the producers knew all too well.

Mariah is ridiculous for still labeling this period as abusive. It's offensive because it diminishes the word abusive when there's really trouble at hand and also because she was paid 18 million dollars to show up and give an opinion. No one feels sorry for you. We all have coworkers we could care less about. You just need to suck it and and stop behaving like a brat. If I were staff or a contestant on Idol during that season, I'd be really annoyed at Mariah. And yes I think Mariah initiated and antagonized Nicki Minaj into that big fight. Because from the beginning before Idol, Nicki always respected Mariah. Mariah's insecurities manifested to the point that she had to behave catty toward Nicki because she couldn't handle being secure on the panel and that there was another woman. No excuses for this kind of behavior. I would have eventually snapped at Mariah if I were Nicki too.

I can't have enough posts for how Mariah's unrelatability will hinder her from going back into the top 40 or selling respectable numbers of albums. In this age, the talent you have is second to how relatable you are. Selena Gomez can't sing but she has fans that send her songs into the top 10 because she is likable (at least until she tweeted that whole "hashtags don't save lives" thing). Same thing for Taylor Swift (until she got exposed). Adele is insanely relatable and likable and she sold 100 millions of records worldwide only on the strength on 3 albums (not to say that she is talentless; she is a great singer and is a good songwriter). Mariah needs to realize this.

Ouch, harsh but true. 18 million is a pretty sweet deal to get over the Nicki drama. But the very first jab at Nicki did come from Mariah when Mariah made the comment about Nicki's fluffy hat saying something about how she would bring her dog as a accessory too if she knew it was allowed and Nicki said "We said we'll play nice." Here is the footage and it was the first day of the audition round. Plus regardless of who did what, it has been 3 years Mariah, get over it really. Calling it abusive again and again, and belittling the word "abuse" is a little too much, even if she is joking. She can clearly go down the "it was fine, I probably won't be doing that again" route.

I forgot to add that Anita "You Bring Me Joy" is so amazing, as is her "Body and Soul". That song slays me everytime. She is long overdue a new record. Since you like old school R&B you might go check out Phyllis Hyman or Angela Bofil, those ladies are amazing. The were doing the big vocal R&B diva stuff way before Whitney, Mariah. They are like the 70's and 80's foremothers of modern R&B big ballads. Or check out their "Unsung" episodes on YouTube. There may even be a Bobby Womack Unsung episode as well. That is a behind the music type show that focuses on R&B artists. Not sure if you know about it.

Yes please let me know which Hozier songs you like. Sedated is my fave along with Work Song and To Eden. Look for the Work Song video it is kind of sexy in a way. And yes, the line "corny like fritos" from Mariah is not a stone winner. I don't know what she was thinking with Infinityyyyyyyyyyy.

Circus themed wedding (65,032)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
So I just realized that the whole "circus themed wedding" rumor was started by Mariah's own team and Mariah herself. Remember a while back there was this rumor that Mariah would be having a circus themed wedding where she would be bringing in exotic animals and all? Now in the trailer for Mariah's World, we see that she jokes about wanting "white tigers, albino elephants" for something, supposedly her wedding because the guy on the other end replies with a "we'll have Noah's ark for your wedding". Then after hanging up Mariah says that "if he didn't know I was joking then...". So pretty clear that someone either overheard this and took it seriously or ran with it to get headlines or someone from her team did it on purpose. So then why did Mariah go on and pretend to be surprised that this was even a rumor? Plus Stella's "leaks" do more damage to Mariah than good because general people can actually believe that she would demand such a thing and hence it's pushing the diva thing to new heights. If Mariah wants her new music to sell better, she'll need the public on her side and to get the public on her side, she'll need to appear a little more accessible because an over the top diva act will put people off.

Sorry for the late reply but yeah. Bobby is one of my favorite male singers along with Marvin Gaye. "How I miss you baby" is the one song I enjoy the most. I also enjoy "Love has finally come at last" with Patti Labelle. However I wished Patti had sung more deeper and in full voice because she sounds awful. Mariah is definitely a music genius for sampling Bobby in "We belong together". We need more genius lines like that instead of "corny like fritos" lol. Well at least it gives me a good laugh. Anita Baker feeds my soul with her beautiful voice. "You bring me joy" and "Lead me into love" are just too good. I'll be letting you know which songs I like from Hozier's album as soon as I listen to them.

Yeah, you're right after watching the video again it's not Mark. I had watched it quickly, and it looked like him for a split second. Then following him through the beginning of the video to the end, I noticed it was not him. Now I've got to wonder where the original poster said they saw him, unless the same mistake was made.

Actually Andrew I've always understood your point on this subject and I agree about her not needing to have Cheech and Chong out all the time. You don't know how many times I've cringed at the totally inappropriate moments that she should not have had the girls out (Rockefeller Christmas performance in 2012 when she wore that short red sparkly dress with the girls hanging out and the children dancing around her on stage still has me mortified). I definitely get it, but I've just come to terms with the fact that she's not going to stop showing them no matter how bad it makes her look. Thanks for the compliment and thank your for making me stare at her eyebrows. Lol. Thanks for the pic Mimi L. It really was making me lose sleep trying to figure out how that bottom half of that dress looked lol. She looks nice. I wish we got more moments of her looking semi respectable and less tacky Peggy Bundy moments. If you don't know who Peggy Bundy is please google her. Lol.

Good post. Agree she's not vulgar although I have probably vented that to myself at some point in frustration. But that's the point. This is all so frustrating. I *know* what Mariah Carey can be. I used to big her up to anybody who dared taketh her name in vain. Not vulgar. Just lacking decorum and class. I can't get behind that. I want it to change. But if this is who she is, well, spells the end of the career, doesn't it. Nobody's gonna buy.

Actually I don't feel that Mariah's purpose of showing off her body is to "attract men". I believe she does it because "she" likes the way she looks and feels in what she's wearing and its fun for her to play dress up. I'm sure Mariah never had trouble attracting men, whether she's an A cup, Z cup, wearing a potatoe sack, or a lace bikini. I can agree that her fashion has had a lot of misses when it comes to showing skin, but in my opinion Mariah always carries herself like a lady regardless of what she's wearing. She knows how to properly sit with her legs closed, she know how to get out of vehicles without exposing herself, she's always aware of the camera angles etc. She doesn't give off "vulgar" or "crass" to me whatsoever. She's not the most exposed celebrity out there ask Rihanna, Beyonce, Nicki, Madonna, Gaga and others. And her boobs don't even look fake, they actually look very natural and nice. I can't be mad at her, because I would be them showing off too.
