Re: Mariah and Patti (2013 Black Girls Rock) (68,201) (68,203) by RibbonB from USA
Good clip and nice to know by this one that Mariah and Khaled will be in a Christmas movie together.

Yes This is hqm, and it is also one that best fits Mariah's comfort zones. Not to mention the lyrics of "On My Own" are very timely. "Here we are talking divorce and we aren't even married."

Mariah and Patti (2013 Black Girls Rock) (68,201) by Malcolm from Asia
Ms. Patti LaBelle is the only one who can out diva Mariah like this, hilarious haha. So excited for their Divas Holiday, hope they have many "moments" together.

Yes of course not the pink pepto bismal looking bunny ranch disaster though.

Can we focus on the voice please? (68,199) by Edouard from France
I mean Mariah sang pretty damn good in Mexico. Okay the pink thing was a real fashion faux-pas, but the rest is pretty okay and classy, considering 2016's general fashion landscape. Almost ol'school, 70's retro outfits. Did you hear her voice? I never was a big fan of Without You (too shmalty for me), but I've gained a whole new respect for that song in 2016 thanks to all her great, very well executed performances. Very technical and pro.

MimiL, Stella posted something about Mishka enjoying being a fashion intern with this same guy and getting to live her dream or something like that. So now Mishka is involved with MC's style. Mariah needs to burn that entire pink mess for the Mexico shows and get new wigs. They are beyond fake looking and just are the most unflattering things I have ever seen. What is going on with her team?

Plus, Patti sold 50 million records worldwide - honey, that's more than 10% of Mariah's record sales of 200 million. Do the math.

Hahahah I wonder what she did with those thousands of dresses in her huge closet. There were some good ones there. Does she just keep them for display or what?

Re: Ugh (68,192) (68,195) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Oh no. I swear this is a nightmare. It belongs to one of the worst "outfits" I have ever seen. She used to be so gorgous, her dresses during the Butterfly tour were so beautiful and still sexy. But this? How can she think this looks good? There are really no honest people left in her "team".

Re: Paying to look trashy (68,185) (68,194) by Lila from United States
How she does it, I don't think any of us will ever understand. The saying "I can do bad all by myself" immediately springs to mind. M, you can make your own self look terrible. Your own image a disaster. Keep your coins and do some DIY.

Re: Patti Labelle (68,191) (68,193) by darrian liu from taiwan
To me Ms. Patti is such a joy to watch and listen to. Her gusto and delivery gets me so emotional, it's super obvious that she truly loves singing and performing. She ain't just another "screaming gospel singer"; she's the Godmother of Soul for a reason. Her power and resonance, are nearly unmatched across contemporary music. Yes, her style isn't for everyone, but she's obviously more than just "considered a great singer". To me it's almost disrespectful to just consider her "a great singer".

Ugh (68,192) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Okay, I tried, but I really just can't with this outfit. This is up there with the pantless lingerie tragedy that she wore to that event she tried to pass off as her "DJ-ing debut". I mean this is just tacky and cheap as hell, and that color ain't helping either. Is that like a cross between salmon and baby pink? It's the least flattering as well. You're Mariah Carey, not some blow-up sex doll. Now the white pleated dress (reminiscent of the TEOM sleeve photo with that sheer cloth draped over her naked body) and that other pink leotard with the mini-dress attachment on is much more like it. Sexy, flirty, fun and most essential of all (to Mariah), exposes the twins that aren't Dembabies.

Re: Patti Labelle (68,188) (68,191) by Sheila from United States
Patti is considered a great singer, but has not sold 10% of what Mariah has. Never really thought she was all that, sounds like a screaming gospel singer.

Marilyn inspired (68,190) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So two of Mariah's Mexican show ensembles were inspired by Marilyn Monroe.

Speaking of a changing voice, even though it happens to men (usually they lose power and richness as they age) but I always wonder how female singers deal with the voice changing because listening to a lot of female singers, they [...] to have the same problem as men but also added on top of that most of [...] voices get deeper. I love [...] by the way.

Didnt Mariah sing and nail part of "If only you knew" back in 98 for a tribute to [...]. I thought she song that with a montage of [...]. It [...] be nice if she would do the same thing again, but I [...] it because people would probably compare it to her original live version.

Patti Labelle (68,182) Ty (68,187) by Edward from USA
Maybe I came kind of harsh on Ms. Patti. The woman can definitely sing. She also said in an interview that she can't help how loud her voice is. I agree that she has many beautiful songs and a great command of her instrument. What I tried to say was that they're both great in their own ways. They're very different in their deliveries which doesn't make one better than the other. When Patti sings any other voices around her would be drowned by it, and Mariah had a taste of that, but that doesn't mean that those voices are not as good as hers or that Patti is intentionally trying to out-sing them. The fact that she's kept her voice in top notch is impressive considering her age. I saw her once at the Apollo. When she takes off her shoes and start rolling on the floor, people go crazy as if they were feeling the spirit, lol. I felt it.

Patti and Mariah (68,186) by darrian liu from taiwan
Both legends in their own rights, but to me comparing their vocals doesn't make sense as both are really different in how they use their voices. Mariah's forte is singing unique runs with impeccable agility and ease in every register she has and texture manipulation. Patti is the classic gargantuan voice soul belter.

Paying to look trashy (68,185) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So Mariah apparently has a stylist so she is paying this dude, what I'm guessing is quite a lot of money, for him to dress her up in the trashiest outfits he can find. Dude's name is Robert Behar. He proudly shared a shot of that awful "white shirt and lingerie" ensemble from few days ago. His only other client seems to be Janet Jackson, that too only for tour outfits. Seriously MC? Mariah has a talent for picking out the least talented people for her entourage or as her employees.

She's being petty with still wearing that ring. She's going to look a little dumb if he figures out a legal way to get it back. Lol.

True. On My Own is Patti's best song. It's one of the most grown-up sounding duets I have ever heard. I miss Michael McDonald. Mariah would sound great with him.

Re: Patti Labelle (68,170) Edward (68,182) by Ty from USA
Patti has good songs, burning if you ask me too. "If only you knew", "On my own" and her iconic "Winner in you" but she doesn't write songs and she only sounds great when she screams in that high belting voice. She also doesn't sell records and doesn't get awards. Mariah's gift is her emotional connection with hurt and songs about love, winning and her tone is beautiful.

Re: Patti Labelle (68,178) (68,181) by RibbonB from USA
I can agree with that, but by the same token Mariah would have a hard time singing Patti's songs like "If Only You Knew" and many, many others. Perhaps she could cover "On My Own" though.

Re: Mexico ensembles (68,177) (68,180) by RibbonB from USA
Of course, it was a rhetorical question. I do wish she would take it off and sell it or enclose it in a glass case at the Smithsonian or something. Someone said in one of the blogs comments section that she could be the next Kim K. type robbery victim. Perish the though, but she is very cavalier with it jangling off her mid finger.

Alicia Keys (68,179) by Martyn from England, UK
Has anybody listened to Alicia Keys' new album? I'd gone off her a bit since her last album but it's honestly one of the best of her career. So stripped back and raw, and she's really accepted the limitations of her changing voice. If ever Mariah needed a blueprint, this is it. I'd love it if Alicia and Mariah did a song together, the talent level would be through the roof.
