It would never happen in a million years, but it would be awesome if Mariah presented her with the award. Or took part in a tribute. She could nail Like A Prayer.

You nailed it. I have big respect for Madonna. That's an artist Mariah should do a song with.

We all know if Bey was the one who stole Mariah's concept then she would immediately be locked in the "I don't know her room". In fact Bey would be the 2014 version of JLo in 2001 because both times Mariah was going through a personal struggle when her concept was stolen. And that pissed her off more. Instead of ignoring Bey, Mariah has continued to address the rumors about the collaboration and expressed how she would be ready "anytime Bey wants to do it" and then she went ahead and took a photo with Beyonce and posted it on her Instagram. Then let's not forget the birthday post calling her "Queen Bey" (which could have gotten Mishka fired and then talking about some inside joke). All in all these would not happen if Beyonce was the one who betrayed Mariah.

Beyonce is so overrated. She is talented. She has managed to steal Mariah's fan blown weave, Tina Turner's stage presence, Janet Jackson's dance moves and everyone thinks she's original. She jacks people's styles, steals their songs and gets credit. Pure bull.

True facts, except I don't give that much credit to Miguel or The Weeknd. Miguel had been grinding away trying to put out his kind of music for sure. The Weeknd is fairly new on the scene by comparison and he seems rather pop vs. R&B. He seems to be getting "poppier" by the minute. I am hopeful for some real, real R&B, especially from the males. For a while there everyone was sounding like Usher, or Chris Brown. Luke James made an effort, but didn't get much play. The next greatest is out there, somewhere though. I hope.

I'm so happy for Madonna. She truly is a one of a kind artist. No offense to Mariah (she'll still be the best vocalist who popularized the pop/R&B and hip-hop fusion still ubiquitous today) or anyone here, but Madge is the single most influential female artist out there, period. She's not the best singer, but she's the one who made the best use of her limited instrument, and at a time when expressing female sexuality was repressed and even frowned upon, she willingly threw herself out there first and powered through every harsh criticism that has been aimed at her. She practically invented shock tactics, and this zero-f***s feminist movement that Bey and Riri have going on right now still seem like child's play compared to what Madonna did in the 80s and 90s. And even though her more recent musical outputs have not been as inspiring, you can still hear some parts here and there that remind you of how she came up with some of the most thrilling pop music in history. Congrats to quite possibly the smartest, most successful, and most recognized woman in music. Well deserved. And yeah, Mariah, you're up next.

The Mariah - Beyoncé comparison (67,278)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

In Bey's defense, she does take a lot of risks. Her last two albums are partly responsible for pushing alternative and progressive R&B to the mainstream, something only The Weeknd and Miguel were doing back then. Her last great song, though, is Love On Top. It was so well constructed that it's the only other Beyoncé song (the other one being Me, Myself and I) than I wish were Mariah's. I will say this, though - the real reason why M and B get compared so many times on this board is because what B is now (hardworking, focused, creative), Mariah was in the 90s, with more humility and commercial success, but met with much less critical acclaim. And that's what most upsets us - she didn't get the thing she deserved the most even when she was at her best.

23 of Mariah Carey's best hip-hop collaboration (67,276)
by B from USA

I don't consider Up Out My Face, Lil L.O.V.E., Irresistible, Boy (I Need You), and Loverboy as her best hip-hop collaborations. I would have replaced those songs with Side Effects with Jezzy, TGIFY (Make It Last) with Joe and Nas, Dedicated with Nas, I Still Believe/Pure Imagination with Krayzie Bone and Da Brat, Always Be My Baby Mr. Dupri Mix with Xscape and Da Brat, The One So So Def Remix with Bone Crusher and One and Only with Twista. I love that the author included You Got Me with Jay-Z and Freeway. It should have been released instead of Boy (I Need You).

Beyonce has been stealing concepts and ideas for years. I wouldn't be surprised if the artist that stole Mariah's concepts and/or ideas was Queen Bey. Her last good album was I Am... Sasha Fierce. I liked 7/11 from Beyonce but I didn't love it like I did Halo or Crazy In Love. Lemonade was a dud. Yes, she'll be nominated for a ton of Grammy Awards but she'll only win in the categories Adele isn't nominated for. I haven't watched the show since Mariah was snubbed in the major categories and was given her awards off camera. Does the Academy consider Adele a Pop artist or an R&B artist?

Of course she's not a better songwriter, I don't even know if she is worthy to call by that. Beyonce only knows how to work hard so she put in this position where everyone treat her as the "queen", she does things seamlessly and flawless so that nobody can touch and reach her, she doesn't even do interviews now. Everything from her is now calculated and that saddens me because I miss that girl who sang Halo and Irreplaceable. She knows how this business works so she is playing the game, but I will always love her same as Mariah but the one thing that always bugs me is that she have this plenty of Grammys that I honestly think she doesn't completely deserve and Mariah only have 5, damn even Taylor Swift have a "Taylor Swift Award" from BMI. It's bull.

I play So Blessed all the time, I adore that song. I did listen to There Goes My Heart after years of not playing it and had a similar feeling. I love that song. It sounds like it was recorded on a beach or something.

I will however add that Beyonce takes risks with her music. She tries a lot of different things which pays off most of the times although sometimes it doesn't. But that's a gamble that one needs to engage in. Mariah used to take risks earlier in her career whereby she started new trends and popularized some trends that were already existing but not that popular. But after a point she stopped doing that and stuck to her formula which is funny because she used to complain earlier in her career how the music label would want her to always stick to a formula and she would have to fight them to deviate from it. But overall Mariah is a songwriter through and through, and a really great one at that. She really knows how to pen good songs, while Beyonce is not a songwriter but she makes clever decisions about songs she records by hiring hot producers and collaborators.

Yes Licia I know what you mean. The last few days I rediscovered the whole Emotions album with its beautiful songs. Sometimes I have a phase I don't listen to certain songs or an album and then I think oh you should listen to that, it's been a long time and it's amazing. And I do switch between the "old songs" and "new" very often, it belongs to my mood. "So blessed" is really beautiful. When she sings: I stay with you beyond the end. Love it.

I don't understand the need for her to get fillers. I mean her face is naturally in good condition and she seems to sometimes go a little overboard on the fillers which closes up her eyes. She really should just let it be. Using fillers for no reason will stretch out her skin and then she'll end up needing them more when she grows older.

Yes, I think most of her fans love classy Mariah. Wendy Williams is not known here. But for me the things she said are not so bad. I still don't know what to think about JP, it's not my business. Although her man choices (can you say said) were always a bit.

Even with a room full of songwriters she hasn't released a decent song since Halo. She's not that special. Janet's a better dancer, Madonna's a better performer, and Mariah's a better vocalist (with her current voice).

Again great thoughts Marissa. For me it makes Mariah more "elusive" without those insta-pics as you mentioned. But I do hope that personally she's fine too. We all know life's not easy especially if something is going on in the private life. Sorry doesn't belong to this topic but I love when Mariah sang "We are lambily" it always makes me smile when I see it on YouTube. I would buy this version on cd.

Mariah has got to give this song a chance. This song came out in 1993 but doesn't sound dated at all. She needs to re-record this song, maybe add more modern twists to it but let it stay to its original structure. I think it would be amazing.
