This Mariah (66,537)

I'd like to believe I still live in a world where Mariah still remembers her fans as fondly and accurately as she did here. I mean that photographic (literally) memory is impressive as it is touching. This was her 13 years into her career. I wonder how she's like now that that time has doubled.

It's interesting to see that Mariah, while she's being touched up towards the end, looks just like Mariah in Vegas today. It's only make up people. Mariah hasn't done anything to her face (nothing extreme). When you look at her instagram in Greece in the restaurant she looks just the same. Natural. No lashes.

Twister. Such a sad song. Love the unresolved ending. It was said this song is about her stylist Tonjua Twist who committed suicide in 2000.

Mariah Carey (2000): "Caesars Palace, They used to say yey if you played the Palace, you freakin' hit it big." Yes honey, you hit it. It's amazing.

Fusion of song (66,533)

If you were to take the full lyrics to any of Mariah's songs and put them to another song (instrumental) of hers, what two songs would you choose? I know it's a random, maybe odd question, but I'd love to hear what you guys can come with.

Yeah. One can only projectile vomit as a result of playing On The Floor and its three other reincarnations featuring Pitbull on loop for so many times.

Rainbow Mariah (66,528)

Came across this video of Mariah in Vegas for a stop during Rainbow and just wanted to share. I guess she indeed made it big. I do miss this Mariah who didn't have to be done up all the time and arrive to her shows undone. She looks to be having legitimate fun here.

I would definitely pick "Twister". It's a sad song, but it is once again Mariah serving great lyrics. When she sings "Lord I pray she's found some peace, and her soul's somewhere at ease". If that piercing whistle doesn't deliver the world "ease" into your soul, it is because you ain't got one. Enough said, and nobody is allowed to disagree with me on this one. Don't try it because if you do, Eric won't post it.

Languishing, Your Girl or Twister. Sorry, I know there's only a few of them, but I just can't pick. Depends on my mood.

Charting (66,525)

Although, I hope this Empire track is great, I'm not holding out any hope that this is Mariah's key back to the top. Typically, Empire songs don't sell that well or even hit radio for the most part. I think Mariah's next #1 is going to hit in December when AIWFCIY finally hits the summit which is long over due. One good thing being at Sony is updating her Vevo with all those music videos. I hope we finally get to hear that Roast Beast song, it sounds hilarious. After that, I think Mariah should follow it up with a bouncy number in the vein of Time Of Your Life/Triumphant/Hero kind of thing. Something with a can't-get-out-of-your-head-with-a-jack-hammer hook MC's known for with that kind of positive message. If anyone can make a track that appeals to several generations at once, it's Mariah. It should be a charity single. That should be her angle. That opens up so many platforms. Radio stations give contributions from time to time, so that could actually be her "in" to getting back on the air. She could capitalize on her career from there. I think it would be epic if she made a charity single #1. The music video needs Bard Mariah. She's at her best telling a story. She could try another old fairy tale classic or make up her own.

"Infamous" is such a sweet title. I'm expecting a ballad that's touchy. Like Terrence said "touches the heart and feels like the first time you've ever seen Mariah". I'm pleased already.

So I saw this article with cryptic clues. The "ultimate diva with the big voice" instantly points at Mariah. While I don't mind her being funny at times, she needs to tone her antics a bit.

Mariah's streaming power (66,518)
by Letters From Adi from India
| |
|

I've noticed a very impressive thing about her stats. Among her contemporaries, she boasts a very good streaming potential. If her team can tap into a streaming monster, airplay and sales would follow too and she'll have a hit in her hands. It'll also help her catalogue boost in streams. Also, Without You just hit 100M views on Youtube. She has 5 in total now. Among her contemporaries, only Jennifer has more with 8. Next in line is Angels Cry with 81M.

Billboard charts (66,517)
by Letters From Adi from India
| |
|
|
Regarding the confusion about the charts, I want to help to clear that up. Hot 100 currently has 3 components: sales (sales week is Friday-Thursday), Airplay (Monday-Sunday) and streams (Friday-Thursday). If the song is being serviced to radio, I would suggest purchase when the song is peaking in airplay for a better peaking chance. If it isn't being sent, the first will most likely be its peak, so buying instantly would be better. If you buy the song before Midnight of Friday, it will count for another week and its points will be split up.

Yes. She is much more beautiful when she is just being natural. I came to this article "Mariah Carey: Our Favorite Selfies", the time when the captions were almost hashtag-free and just amazing words by her, poses were just natural, not obsessing with lighting, gawd I really miss her on social media. I guess my favorite photo of her on Instagram is the one with the caption "My 1st Eggnog", she was just being herself and seemed relatable.

They are exploiting the fact that Mariah's lonely because they know good and well that it is not normal to hang around a "client" 365 days a year, including romantic trips and Christmas. When was LA Reid, Randy Jackson or even JD around this much? I can understand how tempting it can be to want to go along for the ride for the "Adventures of Mimi", but at the same time, you have to at least stop and think that if a person wants their entourage around that (caps) much, they are clearly dealing with some unresolved issues with loneliness and it isn't healthy to enable them all the time. But of course, they don't care about that. From the outside looking in, it doesn't even look like Mariah has that much one-on-one time with her kids anymore compared to before her new entourage came on the scene. Now the only time you see her with her kids is if she's in a setting where the Bulochnikovs are running rampant in the background, and that is not quality time to really be able to teach and cultivate your children. MC's entourage situation gives a whole new meaning to "it takes a village to raise a child". If I were Nick I would be furious at the fact that all of those tacky, anything goes people are around my kids on a daily basis. We can pretend that it's different because these are Mariah Carey's children, but the reality is that kids mimic what they see and after a while they're no longer going to be bulletproof to what's going on around them.

Totally agree. I couldn't believe my eyes how youthful and natural she looks in it. It's like two different persons. One is so loveable and the other staged one, well we've talked enough about it.
