New sound? (67,695) by Matt from Australia Are we all agreed it's time to step away from the rappers crowding Mariah's songs? I like that Gaga has (hopefully) reintroduced a more raw sound to music. The next era (67,694) by Matt from Australia I've seen a few posts recently discussing what Mariah's next era should be like. I think it is her last chance to have mainstream success from the release of an album and she knows it. The stakes are high (assuming she still cares about cultural impact and sales). I agree with the general sentiment that her next album should be "fun". Love it or hate it all this partying, revealing outfits/pics, tabloid drama and reality TV talk is definitely keeping her relevant in wider media and should be the groundwork for a mid to up tempo radio hit if executed properly. However I must say 14 versions of It's Like That would be such a wasted opportunity for her next album as she clearly has some work to do in connecting with the real fans (and reconnecting with those she's lost). Single releases should definitely be loaded with those mid to up tempo ear worms (accompanied with high quality videos that aren't just shots of her looking sexy). However in addition I also think the album should have a running motif letting us know who the hell she is at this moment. I think it's this air of untouchability that has disillusioned so many who felt they connected with her in the past. Why can't a "legendary diva" be dissected and show real human emotion (without the dramatics). The reference point should be an interview uploaded on YouTube titled "The Lost Mariah Carey Interview 1999" - if you haven't already you need to check this out. This girl was fun, highly intelligent, unafraid to talk about her flaws and insecurities, business savvy and most importantly made it clear her knowledge of music and artistry is incomparable amongst her peers. What is it really like to be Mariah Carey at this point in her life and career - without the "bleak" and the "dahling" charade. There must be so much to say, tell us what you divulge to Stella over a few splashes. Let us in on your insecurities, whether it be about your image, your career, your love life - I'm sure we can all relate in some way. And please reflect this in meaningful interviews, show them you aren't just a vacuous caricature. Maybe she tried this with MIAM but it just lacked context and lacks engagement with the listener. A good artist can turn such emotions into a hot record and if she can make these personal statements relatable to all with a few catchy tunes then in my view she has a winner. She cancelled some portions of her tour which is fine. Nobody likes to lose money. She's not the only artist to do so. Whatever the reason is, life must go on, the show must go on. She's happy and dressing it up with dem babies, loving life. She's gearing up for a reality show, a tour, a new studio album, new tv appearances, looking better than ever. Her season is about to start, everyone just needs to enjoy the ride. Love the natural makeup here and she also looks so much younger fresh faced almost like 2008. Here's a side view. One of her best looks this year (I could live without the fish net stalkings though). It was basically the European leg of the Elusive Chanteuse tour, but since "we don't know MIAM" anymore, those songs were scrapped and instead it was shaped up to be more of a nostalgia run to coincide with her then newly released #1's CD. The Vegas residency was also lined up before Stella. In fact it was in the talks while she was with Nick. She announced it end of 2014/beginning of January 2015 and this things don't happen in 1-2 days. They were in negotiations for a long time. The Carpool Karaoke happened because James Corden invited Mariah and she accepted. Stella didn't book that job. Annual Christmas shows started from 2014. That was way before Stella even came into the picture. As for Empire, Mariah was supposed to be on Empire since its first season. It kept getting delayed, but there was no doubt she'd be on the show considering the fact that it's Lee's show and Lee always gets Mariah to make appearances in his movies. So I don't see why anyone should credit Stella for these. I get it if you like her, that's completely your right, but please don't inflate her achievements by crediting her for stuff she didn't do. You can credit her for maybe the magazine covers and the half baked interviews and the Christmas movie and Mariah's World, but the others you mentioned were already finalized or in negotiations stage before Stella was even in the picture. But why does Mariah need to post about it on her insta? I don't get her new found love of posting everything on social media. Plus I love how Stella is trying to make herself be a bigger part of this story. In Woman's Day story, they didn't even mention Stella. So why are are trying to insert yourself? I am adicted to this woman since I saw the We Belong Together performance in VMA's 2005. After that I realised I've bought 2 just released albums when I was with vacation in New York; Shakira's and Mariah's album Charmbracelet. I read so many messages about her personal life and I'm like, WTF lambs? The woman is 46 years old and can be my mother. How could I say I know what's best for her? Really? If she wanna hook up with another billionaire or go back to Nick, it's her and her personal life. Some lambs come here to express their hate towards Stella. I won't go much into that lane, but I am sure happy she came along and changed the game. The European leg of the SSFT, you guys already forget how amazing this was? The Vegas residency? The photo shoot from Merry Christmas is still one absolute favorites. She's so stunning and classic and very sexy naturally. Truth be I can lay that awesome "Joy to the world" remix anyday. Stella isn't the best. We knew that. Mariah is non compos mentis. We knew that. Fans are being ignored. We knew that. Joe Public doesn't really care about Mariah in the press. Surely they don't now. Christmas is still coming. And she needs to put out material soon in the new year to ride the coat-tails of the exposure. We knew that, also. I'm confused as to what has changed. Mariah needs to get a professional team to sell her brand again. She may have given up. In which case she will be her own undoing. Id love to pick this apart. But it's all a bit: "we knew that". I feel the anger directed toward Stella is actually frustration with Mariah. And I cant help but feel that Stella wouldn't be called half the things she has been were she a man. But, seriously you guys, the path is still the path. I'm lost as to what the proverbial fan is here. I've been convinced myself by posters here as to the virtue of the Christmas material and new material in the new year. What's changed? Don't see it. This will come to pass. Her band will be damaged. Media talk (67,670) by Che from USA I don't normally respond to all this media chit chatter but I did want to say my peace on some of the comments here saying that that none of this talk is coming directly from either Packer or Carey's camp. Maybe I've read something different than what everyone else has but several articles have distinctly said "a rep for the singer confirmed to Entertainment Tonight." "Mariah and James had a fight in Greece, and have not seen each other since. The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah. James is one of the most successful businessmen in the world. They are trying to work it out. Right now, they’re not sure if they will stay together. They are discussing it, and plan to release an official statement together about their future." And his official rep has countered everything except for the fact they're no longer together. Their have also been other statements said to come from her official rep and not a source. TMZ was present at her Halloween bash. No one from TMZ could be present without permission. It's time to accept that it's industry standard to utilize these various media outlets including TMZ when it fits a purpose to an artists agenda even one such as Mariah especially given her current managers style. All we can hope is the focus shifts more to the talent and not to the personal too much. However given the circumstance that seems unlikely. (Saturday 29 October 2016; 23:45)

Macy's / MAC (67,669) by Mara from United States So to change the vibe, I went to Macy's today and they had a big sign saying MAC cosmetics now here. Immediately I thought about Mariah's line that is due to come out soon. So as I walk through the store and approach the cosmetic area they have a big MAC cosmetic section with holiday themed make up and such. As I am looking I notice a familiar sound and it was our Mariah YDKWTD. Wow, what a nice moment to be in the mall/Macy's and hear the beautiful sound of a Mariah song. That song should have been a hit. It was played in the MAC section. I wonder if since they are putting out her line soon that's the reason a song less familiar to the GP as YDKWTD came on. It was such a great surprise. It sounded so good, my husband is saying "come on" and of course I said, I'll catch up, I have to listen the rest of Mariah. (Saturday 29 October 2016; 23:40)
