Re: Style (65,309) (65,326) by Malcolm from Asia
I respect your opinion May. I just want to see Mariah on another level of style that is new for her. And I don't think she have any style because for me her fashion is so random, it have ups and down and doesn't have consistency. But the one thing that she's known for is "ample cleavage" or "dem boobies" and that's it. I'm afraid this bras will be her signature style.

Thanks Marissa. I'm doing this just for fun and also for Stella to see it. Who knows she might wake up from reality and realize that the person she's handling and managing is a legend and not just some cheap starlet. Well like what you said, at least we can dream lol.

Re: Faded is perfect (65,324) by Ty from USA
Faded is the standout rnb track that screams directly at Nick. Running all over the world and not being the man he swore he would be. Faded is huge to me. It's like Betcha Gon Know then Faded.

Me I am Mariah (65,323) by Giovanni from USA
It's good to see MIAM getting love. I appreciate it for what it is but I still think Mariah could have put better songs on it. Especially with "You're mine", "Money" and "One more try". It would be so nice if she let us hear all those unreleased songs she recorded since 2012. I hope her next album is a masterpiece.

I completely disagree, I think you were overreacting calling them "awful". They're certainly much better than what Mariah has been serving us since 2014. All those ensembles with the exception of the last is age appropriate for Mariah. I don't know if you know Mariah's age dahling but she is 46. She's damn near pushing 50. I could definitely see her wearing the first three. The first one is very nice in my opinion, than the third. Mariah would look so classy in the third one. But no, she continues wearing Stella's hideous wear as well as exposing the twins on a daily basis. I hope she makes some good music though.

Hope for the next album's theme (65,320) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I hope the next album is more uplifting and flirty/sexy. MIAM basically was the diary of a woman with a broken heart. That was probably one of the ways she healed herself, by pouring her heart in an album, letting her feelings out and getting done with it. Kind of like therapy. The whole vibe on MIAM was gloomy and dark and sad, something which reflects the phase she was going through at that time. So now that she seems to be in a better place (or so I hope), I hope the next album is more colorful, with different flavors, more uplifting songs, sexy numbers, some nice ballads and fingers crossed for a song that turns out into a women empowerment anthem with another major female artist. But I am probably pushing it with the last one. So yes, basically I would like a happier album overall, but I wouldn't mind a song which can serve like a BGK part 2 as well. That song was a gem.

Re: Faded (65,312) (65,319) by RibbonB from USA
The great thing about "How do you mend" and "If I were your woman" are that you know them immediately, so distinctive. M. and big Jim needed to put some distinctive qualities on Cry and Camouflage. But it's all good, her catalog is so nice that there is something for everyone, but everything is not for everyone. Lol.

Re: Faded (65,315) (65,317) by RibbonB from USA
Whoa sorry typos, I was on my tablet for that last response. I meant not watered down sap fests. And it's rough as in rough draft, not rough for its own sake. Too many typos. I love many Gladys Knight and Al Green classics and Cry doesn't compare. The song is just boring, but that's my take. Some classic painful goodbye songs that are timeless classics have beautiful memorable melodies and poignant sparse lyrics. My favorite examples are Bonnie Raitt's I Can't Make You Love Me and Brenda Russell's Piano In The Dark. These are beautiful timeless haunting songs with great music, melodies and vocals. I can hardly remember Cry until I listen to it each time, that is not the marker of a good song, but the words are nice and sad.

Re: Faded (65,312) (65,315) by RibbonB from USA
Oh I understand blues and soul very well but she is giving me none of this vibes. She is giving me rough as in rough draft, not Roth and raw for theiutheiur own sake. Her best songs IMO have distinct melodies watered down sap tests. But we won't agree on this one, so. Cry is good poetry, but the music does not help it be a great song IMO.

Re: Faded (65,289) (65,314) by May from Denmark
Faded is beautiful but to me what makes Cry more appealing and significant is the lyrics. The part where she says "I should have known that you were tired of me" is so sad, the whole chorus saying "til we both break down" just makes my heart sink. Perhaps to me it became more personal, one of those kind of songs she can write and have people give their own meaning. For me that was always her magic and I'm glad she hasn't lost it, she can still make relatable music. Vanishing is superb but is also from another time, a time when she felt she needed to show her potential, I feel that Can't Let Go and the likes are on the same league, bow at days like you said, she is more raw, I would even say natural and casual, it feels less a showcase of vocal gymnastics (which I love and can appreciate) and more closed to the person, almost private. It has different effects on me.

Who did you think Ol' Dirty Bastard was? (Haha good Lord, Tony Bennett does not deserve this kind of treatment.)

Re: Faded (65,308) (65,312) by Mirage_Nunez from America
Thus is the appeal of Cry, it's raw emotional, unpolished sound. I believe that was the whole purpose. She literally said people will be surprised at how many raw ballads she did for the album (though many have clearly been left on the cutting room floor ). I think you just have to really understand soul/blues music to appreciate it. Cry gives me Al Green meets Gladys Knight. I know you're looking at me like but hear me out: the organs and background vocal arrangement has Al's influence all over it just listen to "For The Good Times" or "How To Mend A Broken Heart"; the emotional delivery gives me Gladys Knight, "If I Was Your Woman". I could actually hear Gladys singing Cry back in her era, it would seamlessly in her back catalogue.

Re: The Mimi/Riri race (65,300) (65,310) by May from Denmark
I'm not sure Mariah is up for doing what people want anymore. I am liking the change of wind, I truly wonder if her new style will be reflected on her music as well, sort of dark and sexy like Long Ago or The Roof. I guess it all depends when she will throw a release, if it's summer I'm guessing she might go for something fast and hype, something cheerful like Beautiful, YDKWTD. Meteorite had a chance, no more failed Infinities. Maybe after MIAM she is done with ballads and slows. I would like to listen more of her voice with real instruments than so much overproduced artificial sounds from a machine. She defo needs to tease with the new music incoming, the interviews, the gorgeous photoshoots, the soon to come docu-series, she needs to give music soon after that. I'm ok waiting a whole year but no more 4 or 5 years.

Re: Style (65,304) (65,309) by May from Denmark
I know you did an effort M but those look ridiculous on her, the blue one is awful, I can imagine Joan Rivers in her late age wearing two of the ensembles, too far from Mariah's style, don't think we will ever see her wearing a palazzo. Sometimes I cringe at some of her outfits, sometimes she looks amazing and others I wonder, it's like there are days when dhe dressed like an "elevated" Courtney Stodden. I recall this small backstage video where a stylist says she is there to help Mariah put on those skimpy clothes, like not so pleased. Stylists give options, the client makes the choice at the end, guess Mariah only goes for one thing, anything that resembles the size of a hand towel. I don't think any stylist can help, surely some tried. For Idol she looked really good in most and even liked a couple of futuristic-types, they were unusual but fit for her sexy style. I don't mind the "bra era" but only if she wore interesting bras, if Kim K was doing it, we would see next week all girls on IG and SC doing it. Haha. I bet you, like those blouses with crossed laces that Mariah wore in the mid 90s but only became fashion because of Kim, it will be the same with the bra.

Re: Faded (65,289) (65,308) by RibbonB from USA
I like Cry but it's hard to listen to it more than once, especially with its meandering melody. M. sometimes needs someone who can accompany her and help her put out a polished song, Big Jim was lacking on some of their efforts, but that's just how I hear it.

Re: Style (65,304) (65,307) by Marissa from USA
Maybe she just doesn't have taste. If she didn't like the way she was dressed during AI, which was the best she has ever looked, that is the only answer. To Mariah, a fashion hit is something extremely expensive that puts her in danger of having a nip slip. That's it. I have tried to convince myself over the years that Mariah is a style icon when she's really not. I guess I wanted to believe it so bad because with a closet like the one in NY, there's no excuse to look mediocre. She's had some hits every now and then but generally speaking, fashion is her weakness. It doesn't matter what top notch stylist she hires because she's so rigid in what she's willing to wear. She won't carry a purse, wear jeans, wear a blazer, wear a jumpsuit, wear a suit, wear anything that would cover up her boobs, etc. so all anyone can do is get her outfits that go the overtly sexual route. Also, keep it up M with these Mariah lookbooks you've been posting. I love them. Even though I think hell would have to freeze over before Mariah would consistently experiment with different looks, at least we can dream.

I love how she said that after Camouflage, because the song is so bleak, she couldn't leave it like that, she still infused some last bit of positivity with Money. Did you see the video of Roc and Roe dancing to Money? So cute.

I agree with B's comment suggesting Rachel Zoe as Mariah's new stylist. So I made this and this from Zoe's collection. She really need this types of dresses because she's becoming more and more cheaper. I don't understand why she kept wearing tacky outfits when she have the capability to hire A list stylists.
