Mariah is Mariah (63,924)
by Nick from Maryland
| |
|
|
At this point Mariah is going to receive hate whether she wears no pants or wears a turtleneck. Mariah realizes this. Yes the ensemble was a mess but she is DJ'ing at a nightclub, not going on Ellen. She is living her life with or without you. Yes we want Mariah to do everything we want but Mariah does what she wants to do. She isn't going to change unless somebody has control over her like Mottola did, and that's not going to happen ever again. She is worth $520 million (actually more at this point). She can disappear from the music scene like Janet Jackson before her comeback and she can never tweet or never give interviews like Beyonce. Mariah doesn't have to do anything. She can stop performing live all together. She can move to an island with her billionaire boyfriend and twins and forget all about the "lambs". I'm not defending her antics, I'm just saying lets not just attack everything mistake she makes because she's very private and we don't actually know what she is going through right now. She doesn't have to do anything for you guys but she constantly does (and she loves the spotlight).

If that how some of you all feel, then Mariah should retire instead of trying to please some [censored] fans. Do you think she really cares what you [censored] think? It is hard to agree with you all when you all listen to a guy who worships a rapper who pop pills and mistreats women. Like Sheila said, if you wanted a Barbie doll, then go buy one. M, if you wanted to leave her fan-base, there's the door. Seriously, where did you get your facts from? Where were most of you all up until the nightclub appearance? If I had 16.2 million Twitter followers, I would not care about a dozen "fans". Honestly, do you all have anything else to do besides complain about an artist who has "lost it"?

A very bad place (63,922)
by George Golden from UK
| |
|
|
I think she is very insecure. Where is the music? Back then it was all about the music, now it's all about her celebrity status. Rihanna is gaining on surpassing her record. I wonder how she will feel about that and don't dare tell me that she doesn't care. I became a fan because of her music, not her body. #Beautifull would have made number one but because of the video that was trying too hard to be sexy it became too awkward to watch. She is destroying her legacy. Where are people like Patti Labelle and Aretha Franklin to advise her? She is in a very bad place.

This message board is becoming quite reactive to the fraction of every second of MC's life. Let's keep things in context of relativity. If you go to a club as a non-celeb, don't you go to have a good time, have a drink, flirt, dance, etc? Well, let MC have that same moment and yes she is a public figure but the general public is not spending timeless hours by digesting her every move the way certain hardcore fans do in here. Don't contribute to negative hypes by D-list media outlets and get out of here a bit more often. Go to the beach for a swim and come back with a new summery easy-breezy perspective. MC (a self-proclaimed imperfect angel) does not seem as invested in the legendary status as others. Perhaps she considers it a bit immature (professionally) as there is a lot of music left in her, therefore it's a bit early for legendary behaviors assigned to senior citizen artists.

Stella debrief: I really don't know her (63,919)
by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA
| |

|
I don't quite understand who this Stella woman and her daughters are or why you all blame them so much. Fill me in please. Tbh, I spend my Mariah time only looking at Vegas VOL, My All, TGIFY videos on YouTube and collecting her stuff to build my collection. I love her but don't always like her as of late. I find more joy in collecting a 1993 Dreamlover 12" single from eBay than most of what she does in 2016.

I checked it myself and you can still buy tickets for Sao Paolo in the premium section. Check it out. I find it weird that there's no oficcial announcement from Mariah, neither on the website of the Arena where she is having her concert, but they promoters are already selling the tickets. Anyway, she is not going to do meet & greets and the tickets are a little bit expensive. First row ticket is between 700-750 USD.

I'm hoping for the best outcome for Mariah and her children. I don't give two sticks about the rest of them, because they don't seem to really care about her. I do hope Nick's delay is about trying to secure the best outcome for his kids. People are forgetting about that strange incident after she just had the kids and the authorities got involved. Her own brother reminded us about that just last year with his own embellishments. Better safer than sorry IMO.

It looks like the people around her have fun when Mariah is embarrassing herself. They don't care about the person, they only see the superstar and that "entertaining" lifestyle and of course the money. Something bad happened to Mariah. Maybe she's heartbroken and is trying to forget everything. Like look at me I'm having so much fun, got a billionaire and I still feel like a teenager. I hope there won't be another breakdown like in 2001. I hate that so many are laughing at her, she doesn't deserve it. I don't want her to be like Marilyn who was at the end the biggest superstar of the world but nobody took her serious as a person. I hope it's just a "fun" phase and Mariah will become a butterfly again.

Mariah at 1Oak (63,910)
by Anthony Carey from U.K
| |
|
|
Hey fellow lambs. Well as a lot of you by now know I am always at Mariah's defence - fighting her corner but even I have to admit I wasn't excited about the 1Oak ensemble. I get that Mariah has to let herself go and have "moments" but there is certainly a time and place for these and in the general public ain't one of them. I will undoubtedly always have Mariahs back but like in our own world if our friends and family behaved in a certain way we would be worried/concerned and I just wonder what is really going on in "Mariah's world". I was also looking at a comment someone had made regarding James and marriage but I just don't see this working and before people get hot under the collar I will tell you why. Mariah clearly has trust issue's and has never disputed this however she is "in love" with the ideology of being in love and unfortunately until she deals with her own demons then she will find any situation difficult. I think in different circumstances James would have been great for Mariah but right now I think she needs to be on her own like anyone after heartache and breakup and get herself emotionally stronger. I still and always will love Mariah and will be there in Las Vegas again for the August leg as my love for her is "supernatural".

Not excited anymore (63,909)
by Musti from UK
| |
|
|
I agree with everyone who thinks the non-ensemble was tacky and cheap. I also think it was so hideous that it has managed to distract from the main point - the music. This event was her chance to try something different instead of standing there being absolutely useless and trying to look like a model which, I'm sorry to say, she is not. Everytime her body is back in shape, she goes back to what truly lies in her heart. That is, dropping all her clothes. It's Loverboy all over again. At least she was at the right age back then. I'm disappointed. It first started with her Orlando silence for me. Then her non-effort at the DJ set. Does she really care about the music anymore? Whatever happened to trying to add new songs to the Vegas setlist? And I don't mean accapella one-liners in between songs. She could've easily added and removed 1 new single per week. She has become lazy and lousy. It seems all she cares about is playing Barbie or being as "sexy" as possible. As someone said here a couple of weeks ago, it's just her standing there singing Vision Of Love in a glittering bodysuit and a giant feather cape. No inspiration whatsoever. For the first time ever, I am not excited about an upcoming Mariah project. Once again she will come out making a fool of herself and I'm really tired of defending her for her own failures. Such a shame, considering that her voice is in the best shape it's been in a long time.

Mariah Carey (63,907)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
How did she go from the girl in Vision Of Love to this self absorbed difficult person whom you can't even be free with or truthful to, else you risk being fired? Wendy is spot on when she says Mariah is a difficult person and probably annoying as hell to date or be friends with. "With great power comes great responsibility" so the proverb goes, and Mariah posessed and still posesses power to touch and change lives through her gift of music and song. Such a soul isn't like regular folk ala Stella and should compose themselves as such. It's why the general public is always so hard on her when she dresses in a way that they perceive isn't on par with that divine level she's on. (Imagine her singing Hero in lingerie, hope you get my point.) This recent DJing appearance is one too much and indicates a woman who's in turmoil on the inside and it's painful to watch knowing she is so much better than that. If this is what Mariah's World is going to look like, I cringe in fear of the epic damage it's gonna to do her brand and legacy, one she won't recover from. Legends too crash and burn sometimes. Mariah just ask Bill Cosby.

Choices (63,906)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
| |
|
|
People life is about making choices and with those choices others can accept them or not. At this point Mariah is a grown woman and can do whatever she chooses as long as she is not breaking any laws or hurting anyone in the process. Do I agree with everything Mariah does? Absolutely not but I can either support it or not. As far as fashion goes, Mariah has never been considered a fashion icon. Does she have some great moments? Yes but her fashion has always been hit or miss even during her hay day. Honestly for me it's all about the music and live performances, everything else I can take it or leave it. Remember you can either support something or not.

That's some bs excuse. Guess it's safe to say and speak on the behalf of the lambily, that I was truly and utterly disgusted. Like seriously? Who wears lingerie on a red carpet, and to a club? This Stella lady situation is kinda 50/50. Yes she helped in the damage control post Chanteuse era and cleaning up the negativity, but with her also came the ratchetness, unusually thick aging makeup, cursing, and all that which wasn't there before. I don't know why Mariah is so easily influenced. That's a quality of hers I would like her to work on. Mariah you better wake up girl and slow down.

Mariah Carey Brazil (63,903)
by TRAVON AUSTIN from United States
| |
|
|
Those of you that don't know the links to the Brazilian information for the Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour, go to UKMIX. There is a lot of information there pertaining to the venues as well as the promoters. There has been no official announcement by Mariah Carey or her team but the promoters are the ones who are promoting these venues for the tour. As previously noted, the promoters have already begun selling tickets. I have information that may change the tone of this message board. "Mariah is trending on Twitter (Brazil) right now because she sold out all the R$2500 tickets (premium) in less than 48 minutes." They are expecting over 25,000 people for the first show due to the high demand. I'm surprised of how popular she is in Brazil in South America. Here is the link to the Brazilian press regarding the updates for the SSFT. "Sector 1&2, Lower Chair, and Superior Chair also sold out."

I'd hire a great trainer, a chef, a few splashes and a squad and be super sexy at 46 also. Let the woman get her life. She looks happy, no one is being hurt, her kids are taken care of and she looks fab. The lambs are so uptight and still looking for her to be a perfect Barbie doll. Let her live her life.

What ticks me off (63,901)
by Licia from USA
| |

She has been sounding awesome in Vegas this time around, but I've seen more reports about her pant less antics than how she's been doing so well singing. That makes me so angry. This should be a sign to her that the general public and the media doesn't care about how well she does. They just want to see her act a fool and constantly embarrass herself for their amusement. As much as I want to blame Stella and the crew, this is all Mariah. Rant over.

Hellelujah. Extending this message as you guys have hit the nail on the head. I have been thinking this for months. Mariah is a Christian which not may people know and I do feel she is fluttering away from her spirituality and what kept her tamed and grounded and respectful because of her faith. A lot of her songs she has written and sang are a result of her deep rooted Christian faith and now the way she is conducting herself and musically it shows she is not reflecting her inner spiritual Christian self. I do not want to offend anyone and this is my opinion and I do hope Mariah reads this forum as I really want her to go back to her roots so badly. I really dont want people to know her for her crazy clothes and airy fairy Mariah and her legacy will be tarnished as a result if she continues. I think we all need to do something positive to let her know Mariah this is not cool. Most definitely that Stella woman is a disaster to Mariah's image. Just pure trashy. Look at Mariah in 1997-2000 she was so demure, graceful and elegant and super sexy yet tamed. And now we are going down this trashy looking route and Mariah still looks so young and can pull off Butterfly era look. Oh how I wish she would change her hair colour to brunette honey days. One can only pray.

I totally agree RibbonB. If Mariah strengthened her relationship with God, a lot of the mess that we all are concerned about would clear up. Drinking, frequent partying, surrounding oneself with shallow chuckleheads and disrespecting yourself are things people do when they are spiritually lost and trying to fill the void with empty, worldly bs. The stunts she is pulling will never give her what she really wants. Only drawing closer to God will.
