Brenda - JLo (63,003) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Wasn't it rumored that Brenda K Starr was dropped by Sony so that they could afford Mariah's budget? So Brenda gave Mariah's demo to Tommy and got herself dropped. (Not saying that Mariah wouldn't have made it without Sony.) So are we going to blame Mariah for sabotaging Brenda's career? No. Because she was new, she probably didn't know and if she did, she really didn't have a say and she had to go along with what the suits told her. Same with Jennifer. The people saying she shouldn't have taken the sample, well first of all, she never writes her own stuff so I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't even know what sampling is. Then secondly she had her own career to build. If any of you were given the option of making your own career and be a huge star at the expense of another artist, would you be sitting around thinking what's wrong or right especially after you hustled half your life for this moment? Let's not pretend you'd give up on that.

Carpool karaoke (63,002) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So expanding on Andrew's post and in case JLo and Mariah becomes friends, I'd love to watch them join James Corden on a Carpool Karaoke segment. Where they just let lose and have fun. I'd like to hear JLo attempt to sing "My All" haha (since it's her favorite Mariah song) and I want Mariah to bop to "Booty" haha. Oh Lord. The views would be through the roof. They could do it like one of them is already in the car and then midway they stop to pick the other one up (like in the Gwen stefani - George Clooney - Julia Roberts one).

"They could ask her about recording new music, changing her sound, working with new producers, her ideas about recording a covers album, changing her hair color, anything else." You better replace Stella and be appointed as MC's manager right away. This is exactly what I was complaining about in one of my posts, that her interviews for a while lack substance. We only get to hear her talk about the same 3 things, none of which is her music. It's the diamonds, the fancy lifestyle and the kids. Questions about her music has taken a back seat. This is surprising because if anyone has something substantial to talk about, it's Mariah Carey. She could have so much to say about her music, her musical style, her recording process and so on, and yet all we get are the diva questions. Mariah is a genius and people seem to not notice that anymore because she has created the image of a "ditzy diva". I swear if Mariah would just go back to having the intellectual interview she used to give before and be a little more humble, people would be in awe of her. She is more than just a big voice. There's so much depth in her, people need to see that. Also in this way she can finally get the rightful respect as a songwriter. People still don't know that this woman wrote or cowrote all her songs.

I just wish that interviewers wouldn't play into her tangents or diva antics. Why won't interviewers just re-direct her to answer questions like a normal guest and not give the same canned responses she always gives? I think Mariah is given too much control during interviews. Just sit down and talk about the product you're here to promote. It's incredible how all her appearances in the media are always about her lifestyle and not about any substance. She has such a long career and so many topics ones could possibly ask her about and yet Mariah's team consistently approves each media outlet to ask the same questions about her wedding, children, and jewelry. Such a shame. They could ask her about recording new music, changing her sound, working with new producers, her ideas about recording a covers album, changing her hair color, anything else. Is anyone else just as frustrated by the missed opportunities? At least up until 2002 Mariah would answer fan questions about her career using Twitter and her website. Nowadays she's not involved in any form of contact with her fans. Not including the staged "Mariah World" scenes with her fans backstage.

Mariah fabulous life (62,997) by Liz Archer from Sweden
I honestly don't know what to think. I don't know if I enjoy her "diva" acts in her interviews the last couple of years. I mean, I can see the fun in those "diva" moments. As a person with a sense of humor I get the festive moments and I get the persona that Mariah puts on. It is like acting. But honestly I am also a bit concerned. It is hard to take Mariah seriously when she act like that. Every interview, it's like she on her own dimension. I'm just worried that it's making people not feeling they can relate to her. As a fan, that is important. Or maybe we are just being too harsh and shouldn't take these things so seriously. Maybe Mariah knows what she is doing and simply is just trying to entertain us. Found out the the media outlet give her attention when she is extraordinary like the diva everyone think she is. Personally I don't think she is like that in private, but it's hard to really know. I'm just worried it alienates people more than being them in to adore her and her music. She is really special, she should be part of SNL or do some comedy acts. Maybe then people will get her.

Re: The Lopez resolution (62,989) (62,993) by ADAM from USA
I agree with your statement. This is such a divisive topic on this board. So much time has passed and yet Mariah is still catty and mean spirited about this woman. Mariah has said so many passive aggressive comments about JLo from her not producing or writing her own music to her "being just a dancer" so her IDK shade in many interviews (Allure magazine, Mirabella magazine, Hot97 interview with Star). It just all is bitter. I am a fan of both woman and feel that if Mariah were to put her ego to the side that they actually have the potential to become friends as they have a lot in common. However I just think that Mariah and many fans are way too insecure and invested in drama to really have that happen. While I agree that Tommy Mottola used JLo's record to swap music samples, I don't believe that JLo was even aware of such a thing nor should be blamed as a result for some personal vendetta that Tommy had against Mariah. It's clear that they were romantically involved and Tommy used his influence in music to try and sabotage her upcoming projects. And before I get torn to shreds let's not forget how Mariah was romantically involved with a married Tommy Mottola with who had 2 kids at the time. I'm not judging Mariah for what she "knew" for didn't want to know, I'm just proving a point that anyone could be kept in the dark about a situation. Mariah needs to stop trying to create gossip and drama and start remembering how humble she used to be when she had no fame, fortune, nor food on her table.

My favourite Mariah interview (62,990) by Bill from the UK
Hi all, please let me share with you my most favourite Mariah interview. It was during the promo round for Precious and I Want To Know What Love Is. Mariah looks great, is engaging, endearing, charming, funny, happy, personable and the best I ever saw her. She honestly seemed genuinely at peace here. I cannot help but smile from ear to ear whenever I watch this. Please take seven minutes out of your day and treat yourself.

The Lopez resolution (62,989) by Andrew from UK
What did J.Lo really do? Now, I don't much like her (and I ask the fans to watch "The Boy Next Door" and hear her say "Firecracker?" to the camera - she ought to have avoided that for obvious reasons), and I think her music is mundane. The head of her label, way back when, told the composers to write her a song with a certain sample. And she was new to the label, I recall. What was she, realistically, supposed to do? Refuse? Refuse the mafia of record labels? She didn't write, she didn't produce (as far as my limited knowledge goes), she was handed material and told to perform, as most non-MC talents were and are. I'm not convinced that she had a choice in the matter and whilst I'm still furious for Mariah for the trashing of her project, is the anger aimed at J.Lo warranted? I can't see it. We all make mistakes and things happen in all of our lives that we regret and wish we could change. I would like for Mariah to put in a phone call and make friends. Whitney and Mariah being friends was, on paper in the nineties, almost an impossibility. Even if it doesn't end in a duet, I want my idol to extend a hand and end it. I will love her a thousand times over for doing so. Not to shame Lopez or get one over on her, but to act with the emotional virtue her own lyrics impart. With heart and emotion, forgiveness and love. We all regret the past. Time for Mariah to step up and forgive and let go. And you will find me screaming her virtues I she does.

Glam Mariah (62,986) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I was wondering if Mariah's team can get her a deal to be the face of a major fashion house or the face of a signature perfume for a major fashion house like "J'adore" for Dior, or "Chanel No. 5" and the likes. She could do one of the glamorous ads. And who does glamour better than Miss Carey? It could also help expose her to a wide range of audience, if she maybe records something as the background song. She is in great terms with so many big labels. I think she can easily get it done. She is quite close with Donatella Versace, Alaia, Karl Lagerfeld and recently, Olivier Rousteing.

The real Mariah (62,984) by RibbonB from USA
A lot of us are wondering who is the real Mariah. I have mentioned authenticity, others want to know the inside, many want hoodriah, hyperiah, slayriah. And she may be all of these at different times. The thing is we all have different perceptions and preferences. Lately, though it just isn't clear what is going on and a lot of mixed messages are being put forth. Where I might see she is acting rebellious or even against her best interests in a "slave" fashion, someone else may feel she is finally emancipated to be who she really is. But is she? Time will tell, because this is all leading up to something. I hope it all ends well for the real Mariah and of course her children. She is doing a lot and the body can only do so much. Is she a commodity or in command? Or is she just doing the best she can with what she got? I think she said that last part about herself.

Re: I'm back (62,951) (62,983) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Mariah likes the Marilynesque image, it's very clear that it's part of her public persona. The expectation of her to change that I don't quite get. Sure, it turns some people off. It did in Marilyn's career as well. Prince pushed the envelope at every turn, and lived on his terms despite what anyone said about his choices. MC is not if she doesn't have the desire to. If people aren't willing to look beyond the surface, then they probably never genuinely liked her to begin with. It doesn't take much to understand there is more to Mariah then her "dahlings" her diamonds and her "Mariahisms" and her cleavage. If people really want to get to know the true and genuine Mariah, they will spend some time on YouTube chronicling her in-depth interviews and contributions to music. If they don't, they will simply make a snap judgement, label her a B with an ich and keep going. To me, spending time comparing people and being upset about who is coming off as the "better person" is a pretty futile exercise. We all have flaws and are capable of making choices that miss the mark. To me "unconditional" means acceptance without judgment. Doesn't mean I would make some of the same choices MC does if they don't feel right for me. What it does mean is I don't have any judgement toward her for what she chooses.

This feud keeps both of them relevant to the tweens who purchase more music than anyone else. It creates interest which hopefully cause these kids to discover Mariah's music.

Ardis you're right, sometimes I worry a lot too about the Mariah inside, not the showbiz pro when the camera is on. I mean we just have to take a look of her lyrics. Most of them are so deep. When I think of Camouflage I could cry. Mariah is so emotional and sensitive. The people who are funny are often the saddest. I just hope that she's happy. Mariah admires Marilyn and she was the saddest woman on earth. Nothing that they should have in common. From the outside Mariah seems to have everything. She deserves every luxury but I just want to see her real happy. That must have been said.

Identity crisis? Who is Mariah Carey? (62,979) by Ardis Logic from Earth
As many of us have noticed, she seems to be a totally different person now. Could she be going through an identity crisis? The breakup of her marriage seemed to be very traumatic. I honestly don't think she ever got over it. She seems to be putting up a front, or an act, acting like she is so happy and in love with this billionaire guy, but they don't look like they are truly "in love" to me. When you're really and truly in love, you can't get enough of each other. You want to spend every moment you can with that person. You would make a great effort, to be by their side as much as possible. This whole thing looks like a big show. I worry about her, the real Mariah, deep down inside. Not the huge diva star, "Mariah Carey" but the little girl, deep down inside who is being suppressed. She seems to be under control by those around her. She doesn't seem like herself at all anymore, and that's not good. There has to come a time where she will break out of it. I hope she wakes up soon and takes control of her life again. Or, maybe I am way off, maybe she is exactly who she is, and we have just been deceived all these years. Lord knows.
