Re: Queenlambassador (62,963) (62,976) by Billy from Greece
"I'm upset that some of you just want to see Mariah the fake so much." You hit the nail right there. What I've always enjoyed about post-"Butterfly" Mariah, especially, was that she did not care too much about being politically correct, or even when she did not care at all, as much idiosyncratic or incomprehensible as she may have come across because of that. In this sense, I too think that she handled just fine that whole "I don't know her" saga on WWHL. As much as I can see in Mariah a need to be accepted and belong somewhere, I also think she does not care about being all too likable. I mean, the woman is not stupid. If she wanted, she would still be "Mary Poppins". This debate brings to mind those people who ask for a song that is "universal" and "widely acceptable" without too many Mariahisms. They namely ask for a song with cliches, platitudes and something not distinct of her identity. Again, no thanks. Since at this point I've been listening to her post-"Butterfly" output much more than I do her early stuff, I admire so much more all the concepts, musical or image-wise, she has come up with since then. Even if you approach this in terms of album covers, you can see the difference (in a good way). It's similar to what's happening with Adele now: black and white photographs, "unthreatening", anyone can project their own interpretation onto them, they fit more contexts etc. I think Mariah has walked the Prince path. Remember how incomprehensible he came across in the 1990s and early 2000s? It all makes much more sense now, doesn't it?

Drama (62,975) by Carlos from Brazil
Since we are all in our own right to say anything here, sensitive or not (I'm fragile maybe, hahaha pun intended) I will say the only way Mariah would come back to the charts which she did with #Beautiful in her last album (I didn't see the dancer doing that in her last effort) is to share great music with the world. I don't want her to be nice or whateaver. She will always be Mariah. That's her and that's all.

Let MC be (62,974) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
I've been coming to the message board lately and all I see is Mariah should take note from everybody you can possibly think of. Honestly I would rather her be true to who she is than her trying to be who everybody wants her to be. She has been there and done that and with the success she was unhappy and miserable. And than she experienced a breakdown trying to keep up with that perfect pop princess facade. While I do not support all MC's choices I do respect her being true to herself so I say let MC be who she is.

Re: [censored] Lopez and Shaderiah Carey (62,963) (62,973) by Licia from USA
You totally ignored me blaming both of them for this mess being started up again and continuing. Lol. "I know who she is but I don't know her on a personal level." (I stole this quote from Mimi L. lol). This is what I expected Mariah to say. That one line could have ended this whole mess, but she went on to say some unnecessary extra crap and threw in more shade. I got what she meant to say, but the non fans only heard the extra crap and the shade. That's not handling it with class and composure. That's adding more fuel to the fire and giving people who already dislike you more reason to dislike you. The same can be said for Jennifer. Instead of saying Mariah was forgetful she could have said something totally different to keep down the confusion, but she decided to be petty that day. At this point neither of them are victims and both are guilty of allowing the media and the fans to sucker them into reigniting this mess. Both of these broads need to be adults and lay this to rest.

Re: Jimmy Kimmel (62,961) (62,972) by Andrew from UK
The problem with clowns who are sad on the inside is that people just see a clown. And as someone once sang (can't remember who), "Nobody cries when the tears of a clown fall down." The interview was a quite amusing but Mariah is becoming a parody of herself. I wonder, are the producers laughing with her or at her when they decided to put her in a bath in a ball gown, wearing diamonds, with champagne, being fed grapes? Do they have her interests at heart or are they actually just thinking she's just that Mariah Carey: a bit of a [censored] that will let us mock her for some cheap entertainment? Clown, indeed. Either the joke is wearing very thin these days or I should cheer the [censored] up. Maybe both lol.

Cute interview (62,971) by RibbonB from USA
The Kimmel interview was fun. They've had a few good ones over the years. I would really love if she did Oprah's masterclass, but perhaps in a few years. She is still in transition this year.

Dear sensitive Lambs (62,970) by Shezz from Pk
I hardly ever posted here before precisely to keep out of the drama. I understand your undying love for her but let me tell you that our constructive criticism of her is only because we want to see her do well again on the charts. It hurts seeing her albums and singles perform poorly because I genuinely do believe she deserves more success than she is getting - even with Infinity. The only way for her to get more success is by being more appealing to the general audience which is all we are suggesting. Not picking her apart for the hell of it and to keep her down but just trying to get her back on top. We all love her just as much and don't want her to be fake and say I love JLo and I'm a fan.

Re: Gwen (62,965) (62,969) by ADAM from USA
Maybe I also need to let go or adjustment my expectations of Mariah. I guess I'm in disbelieve still that everything Mariah is public or interviewed she continues to convey this uber-wealthy diva gimmick and is all about the lighting and angles vs the musician who is here to promote music made from her soul. The truth is she's been like this for many years and I just think I haven't let go of what she used to be. I'm not referring to her singing ballads but to the musician who was serious about her craft and image. I just feel like she's a joke and a caricature of what she probably thought she'd never be when she started in the game. I feel like she's cementing her legacy not as an artist but as a Marilyn Monroe wannabe diva who sometimes sings. I think she really emulates her life to be like Marilyn and is lost excess and her own fame. Does anyone else feel the same way? I can't remember the last time she gave a serious interview or answered questions without sounding like an airhead or showed off her wealth in some kind of way. You would think that as time goes on she would be the most secure in front of the camera but instead she is incapable of being recorded on camera without pulling, tugging, or directing some sort of lighting. Who is this person anymore?

Re: Gwen (62,965) (62,968) by Malcolm from Asia
I agree with you. That's what I'm saying, like Janet, Gwen did not match the success of her previous album but they can always proudly say that their visuals came from an intellectual minds and worked really hard to create videos like that. They are always consistent that after 10-20 years, new generation will watch those and they will be impressed on how much these artists put effort in their works. No offense to the body of work that Mariah has given us by her discography, I know it will stand the test of time but I can't say the same with the visuals she's releasing now a days. Kudos to their creative teams and also for them for not letting to suffer the beauty of creating a visual.

Article: Gaga fans start petition to stop Madonna and Mariah (62,966) by Lee from UK
What a load of BS. Not every member of the gay community needs a [censored] foundation. I have been gay all my life and Lady Gaga has done sweet FA for me. Mariah may have made a lot of money from the gay community and benefited from the "pink pound" as we call here in England, but in return Mariah's music has helped many of us before Lady Gaga was even a thing. Joseph Sotelo can go [censored] himself.

Re: Gwen (62,931) (62,965) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Yeah, I know Gwen's latest endeavors haven't been met with the usual success she'd expect, but when I said Mariah should take note from her, I was referring to how she crafts music videos, especially since they are of the same age. Gwen has made more mature, less cringe-worthy videos since she came back in 2014 (Spark The Fire being the only exception). She doesn't sell even half as much as she did in the 2000s anymore but at least the public and the younger crowd see her as cool chick who doesn't seem to age, not some older gal who touches herself too much in her videos. I was also referring to how she carries herself in public. While Mariah has had recent interview moments where she's toned down the diva act, it's the instances of unnecessary shade throwing that always stand out. It's impossible for celebrities, especially for those who have been in the business for so long, to ever be relatable, but the least they can be is someone that's likeable, because although that isn't a prerequisite for respect, it still leads to being respectable. Her hardcore fans aside, I feel like not many other people would want to talk about Mariah if it isn't music-wise anymore.

I love Mariah (62,964) by Mariah from Us
When I first started using this message board I was quick to judge Mariah/her team but to be honest I'm starting to remember my place. I love Mariah and I'm for anything or anyone that she likes, even if that means having a side dude, yelling back at the paps, or even getting wasted to the point of her clothes falling off. I genuinely love her and I feel bad for having so many bad opinions on her life and how she chooses to live. I will not come on this board to talk about Mariah's mistakes anymore because it's none of my busisness and I love her way too much. Glad I got that off my chest.

Re: [censored] Lopez and Shaderiah Carey (62,953) (62,963) by QueenLambassador from Portugal
Why can people take shots at Mariah and be ok and when Mariah takes a shot at her haters she gets lashed? Mariah handled that whole I don't know her thing very well. Besides, Mariah wasn't the one who started it all. Some are not taking Jlo's side but you are saying that MC didn't hadle things right, when all she did was handling it with class and composure, while being real. She doesn't know Jennifer. What do you expect her to say? Expect her to play the Hollywood thing and say she loves her? She won't do that. I'm upset that some of you just want to see Mariah the fake so much.

Jimmy Kimmel (62,961) by Billy from Greece
She was gorgeous. The dress was indeed fantastic. And yet again, MC won't shy away from disclosing something where you might not know: Jimmy, "Maybe I'm a sad clown on the inside." Mariah: "Well, we share that in common."

Mariah takes a bath with Jimmy Kimmel (62,959) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I thought this part was hilarious. Mariah was definitely less diva and more playful this time. I didn't think she would get in the tub so easily without a "Dahlin' I can't even know what to say. The abuse." and all but she surprised me. She looks great. Does anyone have a link to the full interview? The links from Jimmy's page won't work in my country.

Kimmel Live (62,958) by Licia from USA
I enjoyed this interview. It was a funny interview. I knew she would playful with Jimmy. She had her primping moments, but I was too busy laughing to be upset about that. When she quoted the rap song "Cut It" I died. I never thought she'd know that song. Lmao.

Mariah's style (62,957) by Mara from United States
Wow. I just have to say Mariah looks amazing in that black dress. Wow. Her body looks better than ever and her face is matching it. Her hair looks great that color and length. I am not the biggest fan of her hair poker straight and parted in the middle, but this look is great and reminds me of the #Beautiful era hair. I think this length is great too since it's still sexy but not like a length where you look like it's extensions taking over your body. The other dress was nice too but that black dress was on point. And Mariah, whatever you are doing to get your arms back in shape is working. I'm getting my inspiration here lol. I don't know what it is about MC but whenever her face is thin she literally looks like she aged backwards at least 10 years. Simply losing weight does not do that for everyone. She really could have a great era if everything lines up. The look is back, we just need one hot song. Even if it's a theme song from MW. I can't wait to see the Vegas show and if she changes the ensambles at all. Wouldn't it be fun if she came out in a showgirl outfit like Breakdown or ISIL video?

Jimmy Kimmel appearance (62,956) by Shezz from Pk
Just saw the Jimmy Kinmel tub segment (not the entire show yet) and she had this upbeat energy which was so refreshing. She was talking normally and not her slowed down diva talk and was coherent and precise. I hope that went on for the whole show. I loved the tub reprise ala cribs. And Bryan's cameo.

Re: Funny TMZ clip (62,952) (62,955) by Licia from USA
Lmao. I'm glad she laughed it off and it didn't turn into a over dramatic diva moment. That comeback was flawless. I love when she is able to make fun of herself. That campaign idea is perfect Andrew. Lmao.

Re: [censored] Lopez and Shaderiah Carey (62,947) (62,953) by Licia from USA
I'm with Shezz. Although I get what she was trying to say on WWHL, it didn't go over well with the general public and it did not deaden the situation. Everything that Shezz said is true. Mariah is looking worse and worse everyday and will continue to be the villian if she does not handle the situation better. Either find a way to explain it and end it once and for all or require that interviewers not ask about it. None of us are taking J. Lo's side. We all know why this all started. At this point neither of these close to 50 year old women are victims and honestly both of them need to let this go. This never should have grown into the monster that it has become.

Re: Funny TMZ clip (62,948) (62,952) by Andrew from UK
Agree that Mariah's playful and that's good but I also saw people waiting for her to whom she was a little aloof and of whom she was a little dismissive. I've been in those situations with her many years ago and she was a lovely, warm person. I think she needs to be a little more engaging. Anyway, good sense of humour coming out which makes her seem more down-to-earth. The lightning comeback from the head bump was very good. I did chuckle. It's also a good advertisement for her Champagne Campaign: you don't feel things until the morning.

[censored] I don't understand how someone can say they are a fan and all they do is bash Mariah and wait for their next mistakes. Even breakdown. Anyway. Who is going to see her in Vegas? I don't know if I can go this year. At least I'll have Mariah's World to watch as a substitute for that.
