Re: The most overrated MC song and what's better (62,470) (62,478)

That would be an awesome setlist. Alot of those songs I haven't heard her perform ever or haven't seen her perform them in a while. I was uber excited and slightly mad (yeah I was hating lol) when I saw she sang Loverboy on the European tour. It's always nice and sometimes surprising to see that most of the songs that fans love are not number ones. I have to add that I would take out Touch My Body and replace it with Last Kiss. That's a favorite from E=MC2. That semi ode to Purple Rain in the chorus is great. Sounds just like the ending to Purple Rain. Love it.

Re: Is Mariah secretly dating Bryan Tanaka? (62,468) (62,477)

I hope not. Bryan is absolutely gorgeous though so I can't blame her if she has a little crush, but she should know better than to date a young guy again, especially one that is not on her success level. That will be a Nick Cannon situation again. I was wondering why Bryan was in London for Prince Azim's birthday when Mariah didn't have a performance and also why he is always taking videos of Mariah for his snap chat. All these remind me of that crazy conspiracy theory I laughed at a while back where someone or an article was talking about how Stella is trying to get Packer out of the picture haha. I know that's stupid and not true. But Mariah should still be wiser and think about her choices. At the end of the day she should just do what makes her happy, but I hope she doesn't make a drastic decision.

This song has been going viral recently because of a meme. Does anybody know if Mariah has ever mentioned the original song? The only official link to MC is that it was released by Jermaine Dupri's record label. That's all I could find anyway.

Ughh Mimi's instagram is truely Mishka's world. Can somebody please tell Stella that "bring your daughter to work" day ended ages ago. It's one thing for Mariah to hang out with her manager's 13 year old daughter for fun but taking her to every event and party with alcohol flowing and all.. Stella may have her issues but Mariah should not allow this. Those two boomerang posts on instagram look like they're straight out of a tween's account. I wonder how Lee Daniels feels about the Bulochnikovs.

Haha does Mariah really know that this picture was posted on her own Instagram? Not the best shot, in fact everyone looks blurry and not ready except Mishka. I think the little one forgot it's not her Instagram but Mariah's.

I couldn't tell if that is Prince Azim himself or some friend but the party was Prince Azim's. And I don't think James was in the limo because he didn't go to London. Or atleast there were no photos of him arriving with Mariah or at the party. He probably stayed back in the US like he usually does.

The most overrated MC song and what's better (62,470)
by 123 from USA

Keeping track so far. This would be an interesting set list for a fans concert. Throw in maybe a few more uptempos for good measure. So I would replace Heartbreaker as she hasn't pulled of some of the original notes in years, I would love The Roof instead. The Roof Fly Like A Bird/Through The Rain Loverboy When I Saw You Close My Eyes Shake It Off Do You Think of Me I Stay In Love Don't Forget About Us (got voted as overrated and better)

Is Mariah secretly dating Bryan Tanaka? (62,468)
by AJJones from United States
| |

Last weekend when I was waiting for Mariah to return to her apartment to get a autograph, I noticed Bryan Tanaka came out of her apartment while she wasnt there. Also I noticed Mariah gave him the lapdance during the SSFT. Then when Andy Cohen asked Mariah who was the dancer that brought her out during the NY Upfronts, she pretended that she didn't know what dancer brought her out and that "all of her dancers are tall". Of course Mariah knew what two dancers brought her out, but why would she pretend not to know him? Especially if he is close enough to her to show up to everything she is (without the other dancers) and be at her apartment while she's not there.

Re: Feeling vindication / Lee Daniels (62,463) (62,467)
by Chris from United States

I am actually really happy Lee came forward and said these things. He's not stupid, I'll bet he did it on purpose, to get people to ease up on her. It's all making so much sense. I think she probably doesn't want to be Mariah Carey anymore, because Mariah Carey is damaged, constantly abused, used, and messed with, so she chooses to live in that diva persona. It really is sad, because she has an awesome personality, and I can just see what a beautiful soul she has. I'm pretty sure the Russian Kardashians are pushing her further into her darkness. I'm also concerned about this engagement to James Packer. She literally went from her marriage to this billionaire. I'm almost convinced she is doing this in a desperate search for happiness, but she's not going to find it this way. Where exactly is he anyway? I know he's a business man, and he's probably wheeling and dealing, but I feel like he's barely around, and she's being coached by teenagers. I think he needs to pay a little more attention to his fiancé, who needs a little more TLC. Honestly, I'm not even really buying that she's completely happy with him. Maybe she is, but her head seems to be really clouded and cluttered. She literally has a circus going on around her all the time, and he's okay with this? I mean, who actually plans a wedding before their divorce is finalized? All of this is starting to look really unhealthy, and I'm just hoping for nothing but the best for this wonderful soul.

Do they belong together? (62,466)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
I think, as a fan collective, arguments are repeated a lot and become as skewed as Chinese whispers, opinions are adopted because they're a la mode and the originality or sentiment becomes lost. Case in point: supposed remakes of We Belong Together. Everything released by Mariah since has been accused to being a rehash of this song, it would seem. Now I see Touch My Body is a WBT rehash. WTF? They're nothing alike. Add that to the list of every other song since it and I must ask the question: what are the features of a song that make it a WBT wannabe? It is a popular line of argument on here but I'm starting to think it's a line of argument for those who aren't capable of forming original opinions themselves, and slap rehearsed lines onto things. Perhaps I'm wrong. What are the WBT features?

There are only about 2 regular posters on this messageboard whose sole purpose is to bitterly drag Mariah and who refuse to ever say anything positive in 99% of their posts. Most of the other people on here are a lot less extreme and crass than people give them credit for. We know that Mariah has been taken advantage of and exploited by her family, controlled, her slip ups are highly publicized while her successes are slept on by the media, "friends" trashing her in the public, etc. We all know that she has been done wrong in a lot of ways and has a good, genuine heart. Just because her backstory isn't being laid out in every critical post doesn't mean that we don't understand where she's coming from. But just because we understand how she came to behave the way she does doesn't mean that everyone should stop asking for a change. I understand why Mariah hides behind the diva persona, but I certainly don't want the constant diva caricature to continue for the rest of her life and rob us (and herself) of the depth and rawness that we got from her for years. I definitely agree with Lee that she uses the diva persona to mask pain. I feel Mariah loves the crew she's with now because they would rather enable her to put bandaids on emotional bullet wounds with shade, splashes, daring outfits and frequent partying than to actually encourage her to heal from the things that have hurt her.

Feeling vindication / Lee Daniels (62,463)
by Mirage_Nunez from America

I don't think anybody argued the whole diva thing being an act and her shade being a defense mechanism or anything else Lee Daniels said. So I'm not getting why people are gloating about being vindicated. The difference between what Lee said and what some people on here say about Mariah is how he spoke of Mariah in a respectful, protective manner, and pointed out how she has been a victim of abuse and bullied (hello) by not only family and loved ones, but the public as well. He sure didn't sound parallel to people who blatantly hate Mariah like some indivuals here do. I love how he pointed out on how loyal, good hearted, yet fragile Mariah really is as a person. I've always felt that and have always been very perceptive of Mariah as a person. That's why I ride so hard for her, because I see beyond the protective exterior. I can go deeper with this topic as far as how creating an ulterego can help people cope with drama, hurt and betrayal, but I'll save that for a later discussion. Meanwhile I'm still optimistic about Mariah's World. It's okay to have reservations (nobody argued that), it's when people try to predict/claim doom to her life and future that's bothersome. The show is coming no matter what so all we can do is hope for the best.

My thinking on this is based upon the previous shows that Mariah has done with cameras following her. Whilst she has said she doesn't like it, those shows (E. Uncut and the Charmbracelet promo tour) I thought were very well put together and were interesting in terms of showing us a bit behind the scenes. This show I feel and hope, is along a similar vein and style, just spread out over a few days/weeks (an episode per week?). They keep on bringing up "Being Bobby Brown" and I think Mariah, would want to keep it as far away as that as possible. And also, Whitney and Mariah are two very different people, influenced and surrounded by different people. Mariah is engaged/soon-to-be-married to a man who is successful financially and professionally who doesn't do drugs, Whitney was not. Mariah would not let herself be shown in that light ever. As for what Lee Daniels said, he is right that Mariah has been mistreated by her fans, her family, those she thought she'd be with for the rest of her life, other celebrities etc. And that can change people in many different ways, especially with how they deal with it. In Mariah's case, it is clear that she uses her sarcasm and deflection as her way to deal with uncomfortable situations. Whether that seems diva-esque is immaterial. I'm going out on a limb by saying that some fans do bully Mariah on this board by constantly bashing her for this, that and the other. Her reference to JLo's comment on being "forgetful" shows that she's more than aware of what people are saying about her. Her comment about being more "financially stable/successful" shows that she knows she's not raking in as much as she used to, with her various endeavors over the past couple of years along with music. Is she mentally unstable? That's not for anyone here or her personal life to decide.

I feel the same way. To me, Lee's quotes just discredited all of the people who were accusing us of being uninformed haters for being alarmed by Mariah's choice to do a reality show and her affinity for constantly hiding behind her diva image. But I guess Lee's just a hater right, although he is one of MC's closest friends and Mariah uses every opportunity to sing his praises despite him always telling her the truth even if it stings? I too feel vindicated. Mariah isn't as turned off by tough love as a lot of people make her out to be.

We will get to see what they have set up for us to see. A lot of it is playing out before our eyes right now. It will be a mess that's for sure. I just hope it won't ultimately end up as worst case scenario: Whitney, or next worst like Britney mental moment where you lose your kids and go under conservatorship. Next worst is a Halle moment, custody issues and an almost dormant career. Some people like to watch trainwrecks, I'm just not one of them. I wish Mariah and her kids the best. Family abuse or whatever Lee is implying may explain her actions, but dealing with it in healthy ways is the only help for it. This current team may be her biggest abuser to date. Poor Mimi.

"Trainwreck" (62,458)
by Mirage_Nunez from America

"Trainwreck" has been used rather loosely in the past in reference to Mariah. For example her classic Cribs episode (which the general public enjoyed and ate up) was describe as a "train wreck" along with her Home Shopping Network shows which many also found entertaining. So I'm not alarmed by people using that term, I actually think it's a selling point to people so they'll tuned in. As long as we she get to see all sides of Mariah. It will do her good.

Just to be clear Mimi L. (62,457)

Mimi L., it was JLo's second appearance on Andy when he asked the hypothetical question about seeing Britney or Mariah. I was referring to her last appearance (after she went to Vegas) in which Andy called her out for texting during Mariah's AMA performance and not going to her Vegas show. Here. Then within the same week or something she appeared on Wendy and gave a different reason for not attending here. I'm not saying she was obligated to go see MC's show, I meant I get it. I'm just pointing out that she couldn't have been sincere about why she didn't go. Aka being fake about it. Anyway no more beating this dead horse, moving on.

Lee Daniels about Mariah (62,455)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
What do you think about the talking from Lee Daniels that he thinks Mariah isn't ready for the documentary on TV? That Mariah was or is still used and abused really explains a lot. I always thought the diva-playing is just to hide her true self because of to many bad experiences. The song Looking In says it already in 96. I really hope that everything is fine and ok with her. True friends are hard to find, to trust a manager who looks like a wannabe wouldn't be my choice. But showbiz isn't new to Mariah so let's hope she's with the "right" people.

When people ask Mariah about her docuseries in her recent appearances, she usually is very vague about it and gives brief answers. Why even do a promo round if you will not talk about your project? She should have a sort of description memorized so that she can say it on the shows. I do hope it is a classy docuseries and not a ratchet reality show. But Stella really isn't classy so I don't know what she'll do with the show since she is Mariah's only companion now, her behavior will influence Mariah a lot.
