Re: Andrew / price to meet Mariah (61,081) (61,086) by TJ from Norway
Nice picture. I have to ask: how tall are you? I was watching her from second row in Oslo, and couldn't make up my mind if she is short or not, because of her extremely high heals (that I don't understand anyone can walk in).

Re: Mariah was fabulous in Helsinki / Andrew (61,085) by Tiina from Finland
The more I think about what went down at the meet and greet, the more sour I feel about the experience. On the other hand, I was honoured to meet my idol and I feel thankful to have been able to do it with some major financial help from my family but I also feel cheated. I knew that we wouldn't have much time with Mariah but to only get to spend such a brief moment with her was very disappointing to say the least. To think that I paid 700 euros for only 7-10 seconds with Mariah and then on top of that I got the worst photo out of the bunch. I don't blame the photographer or Live Nation or the people in charge of the security, or Mariah. I blame Mariah's team. You're absolutely right, Andrew. They should work the meet and greets in on the tour schedule when people pay to be there. I've heard from fans from other countries who have had a similar experience to mine and said that the whole thing was nothing but a rushed through mess. First, we waited for at least 15-20 minutes while Mariah was being prepared in another room. We could hear her. At one point they asked to borrow a lighter to apparently light candles, so we thought it was going to be amazing. We also thought that maybe Mariah would come and greet us in the room we were in and then take the pictures. One of her backup singers came in to greet us and took photos with fans, which I thought was very generous of her. By the way, I felt bad that some fans had bought gifts to Mariah and they were not allowed to give them directly to her. Instead, they gave them to the security guy. We were also told that Mariah would not be signing any autographs. Anyway, after all that waiting we were all of a sudden in a big rush to go and take our pictures. They yelled us to get in line. The pictures were taken in a corner of a gloomy room. There were no candles, it was all very unglamorous. There was even overhead lighting. To use Mariah's terminology, the room was bleak. But that's fine, I don't need athmosphere. I just assumed there would be candles and what not but it must have been for another set up for the documentary she's filming, which I will get back to. But the least they could have done is give everyone 30 seconds with Mariah. A minute, well, I guess that would have been really pushing it. The way it was organized was very haphazard. There were too many people there and everyone was on the edge about the tight schedule. My question is: why sell meet and greet packages to fans when clearly there's no time for them to host these things? It's really unfair to the fans. I felt like Mariah's team could have cared less about making sure that we had a great experience that night or that the photos would turn out great. Anyway, the guy who happened to be last in line to get his picture got to appear in the documentary. I talked with him briefly afterwards and he was very excited, just screaming how he had spent extra time with Mariah and it was fabulous etc. I guess they filmed him in that other set up to make it seem like that's what it's like at your typical meet and greet and that that's how all the fans are being treated. If you ask me, it's pretty lame that they would stage it like that when it's so not like that at all. I'm glad I met her but I wouldn't recommend spending that much on the meet and greet tickets. Try spotting her outside a hotel or something because that's as brief as it's going to be anyway. You actually might have a better chance to really talk to her that way.

She didn't cut the note short this time (61,084) by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago
Just proves that the more she sings the better she gets, plus she said "Actually I was doing most of the crying" in the middle of the song at the 1.00 mark.

Excellent point, until she actually sabotages something or messes up in a big way, I also decided to not come out and bash her. The residency was a huge gamble and everything there after has been gravy. We are avid fans have been worried, and for good reason but I think she (MC) is once again proving herself even though she doesn't have to.

Andrew / price to meet Mariah (61,081) by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales
Hi Andrew, I paid £535 for the Meet and Greet ticket. Do I consider it worth it? Absolutely. That pic of me and Mariah is my favourite pic ever now haha.

Nigel / American Idol (61,080) by Billy from Greece
So, regarding the Mariah/Nicki feud, Nigel commented that "nothing would stop them, once they got going, which I don't think the public enjoyed, we certainly didn't." Right, Nigel, whatever. Just notice his face and body language when he says that.

I agree about Hero too. No disrespect to any lambs and millions of others who have found inspiration in that song but to me Hero is the definition of schmaltz. It never did anything for me. It's time to bring back Can't Let Go, and not in snippet form either. Glitter is an amazing album. I don't even like the 80s sound but her interpretation of it is timeless. Fingers crossed for a Glitter medley.

A Glitter medley would be awesome. At least the inclusion of Loverboy tells us that Mariah still acknowledges that period of her life and is mature enough to move on without completely shutting it out, at least not musically. For quite some time I believed that she's just going to pretend it didn't happen. Maybe it's a stretch to hear her finally sing Lead The Way live or perform Never Too Far, even just as a medley with Hero, but hey, baby steps I guess.

Mariah Carey - My All live Finland (61,075) by 123 from USA
I love a jazzier version of My All. It would be nice to see her switch this song up and remix it to a jazzier number.

Mariah Carey - Emotions live Finland (61,074) by 123 from USA
Ok Mariah. I like the way you took command of that stage even before you actually start the song with your ad libs. This is exactly how she should be performing this song. Here's Mariah giving a lot of vocal, body, and command of the stage. I love the asking to turn up her head phones "a lit bit" to calling out the fan's sign without missing a beat.

Re: Article: Mariah hasn't sung her biggest hit once on current tour (61,054) (61,073) by enwar00 from usa
I feel like she has said that before prior to her tours, and it never happens. Maybe she's too lazy to switch up the show. Someone had mentioned they'd hoped Loverboy and When You Believe wouldn't end up being the only different songs she sang, but looks like that's the way it went after all. I can't wait for her Anti tour.

I agree about IBT. I love the song, but there are so many other choices I would replace it with if I could. I'd also retire Hero. Lol I was super excited to hear a clip of Loverboy and a Glitter medley would be awesome. That's my second favorite album. It sucks that it didn't do well on the charts because Glitter is actually a great album if you love 80's music. The songs that were new went along well with the remakes. Good to see some Glitter love.

To Stella, who it probably concerns (61,070) by Andrew from UK
I, for one, want to give a shout to Stella. This woman is taking some flack and it's possibly misplaced. She's extravagant and outspoken, well great. As someone posted here: that picture got talked about, didn't it? (And completely nothing more than Mariah has done before.) Maybe that's why they get on. I don't believe MC is not the boss. But as far as it goes, on a personal note, it's taken a big shift in Mariah's career for me to get on board. Whilst my concerns still remain, I'm not waiting for a new album for Stella to prove herself, to me Stella is doing a bloody good job right now. Remember Mariah languishing in obscurity? Well, she ain't there no more. About time lambs started getting on board with this woman. I didn't think it could move in the right direction and you can't not give the manager the respect when it's due. So she told the interviewer they were blessed to have met Mariah etc etc. This woman seems a fight-to-the-end kinda girl. And she has her kids on the case. I'm on board. I think Mariah sees a do-or-die passion in her. So what if she sells herself? She's selling Mariah ten times over. Hashtag Stella4Mariah. What's to lose?

AYNAF would've been vocal suicide. That song is just out-of-this-world difficult. But a snippet would've been nice indeed. I really hoped she'd sing Open Arms, at least in the UK since it did well here. How I wish she would drop I'll Be There for once and sing something else. I'm so over that song. But I guess we'll never hear the end of it since it's an easy duet moment with Trey being around her all the time. I still can't get over Loverboy being on the setlist. She's finally embraced Glitter. I hope one day she gives us a Glitter medley with Lead The Way, Don't Stop, LNADJSML, DMTTYO. Uhh the whole album. I would just die.

The tour is working II (61,067) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Mariah's getting better at navigating her way through her more challenging songs to avoid the more difficult parts to sing during her performances. Her ad libs were always good - she just has that talent, but now the way she does them makes them sound more natural and seem less like a cop out. And since I'm in a forum of the queen of shade where posters have been well-trained to detect even the slightest hint of shade (haha), I assure you that I meant this observation as a compliment. Also, she's regaining her confidence, which is always a good thing.

Re: Mariah was fabulous in Helsinki / Andrew (61,059) (61,064) by Billy from Greece
Tiina, that was pretty much the situation when I got the chance to take a group photograph with Mariah back in 2009, during the Christmas event at Westfield London. Luckily, I didn't have to pay that extravagant amount of money as I won at a contest, but it was out of fear of experiencing what you just described that I decided to opt out of choosing the meet & greet package this time. Although it was surreal that I met her and it was a dream come true, imagine having five people trying to concurrently talk to her, while chaos taking place, while cameras are shooting, while security directing you, while etc. I did manage to say a couple of words to her quickly (though, in retrospect, when I think of the way I phrased it I'm like "what was I thinking") which made her turn and grab my hand tightly (which really took me off guard in the best way possible), and although I know this would be the closest I could get to Mariah at this point in her life and career, I wish there was a more intimate setting with no cameras that would allow me to spend maybe a couple of minutes with her. For instance, the fans that were backstage at the Jimmy Fallon thing in 2013 were much luckier I guess. But yeah, on the hand you want to meet your idol, but there is always the chance of being let down, not necessarily because of their behavior (and we all know Mariah is the kindest and most cordial towards her fans) but the whole saga that comes along with it sort of leaves me now wanting to admire from afar.

Re: Mariah was fabulous in Helsinki / Andrew (61,059) (61,063) by Andrew from UK
I assumed you had to pay for it but it sounded really rushed in your first message due to a "schedule". What came to my mind was: surely the schedule should be written around those paying for it. €700 is, I think, currently about £600 or US$800 - that's an enormous amount of money. I guess the logic behind it is: backstage meet-and-greets can happen but if there's no fee everyone would want one. I think at least one uninterrupted minute with an artist and a chance for a few shots at the photo would at least be in order for that amount. But sod it, you met her and that's very cool.
